For most coins block reward decreases in time and this increases deflation rate. For PPC-derived coins (PrimeCoin etc) the problem is even worse as soon as they offer difficulty-based block reward formula that makes block reward inversly proportional to difficulty (i.e. difficulty goes up and block reward goes down). I consider both practices to be counterproductive. Moneta Verde is the first cryptocoin with blockreward increasing together with difficulty. Why this is a good idea? 1. Money supply goes up with difficulty increase. As soon as difficulty increase usually happens due to an increased demand this will lead to money supply being dependent on demand. This way MCN will has a slower deflation rate than other coins. 2. Instamine is now useless because block reward is close to zero on low difficulty blocks. This will give us a better coins distribution. Block reward formula is a fixed point implementation of log2(difficulty). This means that block reward increases much slower than difficulty: for 1 coin to be added to block reward a difficulty must be increased twice. This rate looks to be reasonable. More details: - block target - 60 seconds - CryptoNight PoW - difficulty retarget every block - merged mining with Monero, QuazarCoin, Bytecoin or any other CryptoNight-based coin - total supply: infinite Naming: Moneta Verde (it) means "green coin": this coin uses already existing mining resources (MM) and it's supply is regulated by mining community. Launch date: June 17, 2014. Setup instruction for Windows and Mac 1) Download MonetaVerde and BCN/MRO/QCN binaries. 2) Launch BCN/MRO/QCN daemon and wait till its synchronization. 3) Start MonetaVerde's daemon. The process is very similar to BCN/MRO/QCN's: launch command line, navigate to the right folder and launch monetaverded.exe . Use "save" command after synchronization. 4)Create MCN's address. Again it is the same process as for BCN/MRO/QCN: open another instance of command line, navigate to MonetaVerde 's folder and generate new wallet with "simplewallet". Code: simplewallet --generate-new-wallet=example_wallet.bin --pass=12345 Here "example_wallet.bin" is the name of the wallet (use .bin file extension) and "12345" is the password for your new wallet. 5) One more command line is needed. Navigate to MonetaVerde 's folder and launch minerc.exe using the next command: Code: minerc --node1=127.0.0.1:8081 --node2=127.0.0.1:24081 --wallet1=%your BCN/MRO/QCN address% --wallet2=%your MCN address% --node1=127.0.0.1:8081 is IP and BCN's daemon port. Use this IP and port for MRO: --node1=127.0.0.1:18081 instead And for QCN use this: --node1=127.0.0.1:23081 --node2=127.0.0.1:24081 is IP and MCN's daemon port 6) PROFIT! How is the variable block reward working in practice for those of you with various rigs? The supply is interesting and a nice solution, but an idea of how many coins are generated for how much hash outlay would of course be very useful. Especially from a trading pov. The success or other of this coin will depend on difficulty/return of coins. Its on poloniex now and 10k is the base price. Not bad.. but hard to tell if it will be a bcn or a fcn/bbr/xmr etc. big difference between them obviously. I suppose there is a sweetspot of return of block reward and difficulty that presumably the op/dev has worked out? Has anyone used digtial ocean / ec2 spot and if so how many coins do you have? what is the total coin supply now? then we will know what it is worth.. imo this has utility for a currency, but then doge has that as the price is stable! and thats what you want in a currency. myr seems similar, great on paper, and good to be used as a currency, but not as a method of making a large return. What we do need is a pool, a basic marketing, something we could offer others to join MCN community. This way, those with enough hash power will solo mine till the price gets to the point where it isn't profitable to mine MCN at all and even if look a case of attracting more, new miners we would only raise the diff and that would lead us to rapid price drop 'cause the more would dump on daily level.
So, the best solution would be to get a pool with merged mining or at least MCN only pool. I have some very bad news.. I was very busy the last 2 days because 3 of the devs left the team. We are now only two left and it's impossible that we respect the timeframe without the help of other devs. We also discovered a big bug, the second the community will know about this it will be dump time. They left because of a few big issues : they felt their work was not recognized for the last week they've been talking about that and the fud and the price crashing, they threatened to leave more then once. But the main reason is we found 3 days ago a big flaw in the code. Fudders were right those devs were clumsy in their way of working, I just had neither the time neither the skills to check everything... The private key problem raised my concerns since yes they were right, how could the dev do such an error? that's why I checked everything in the wallet and the code and I found out an enormous bug: transactions get confirmed à 0 confirms. This is a VERY BIG issue, they tried everything to fix it, without success and I have no news since more than 12 hours. You can try it in the wallet, 0 confirms. I spent all night trying to fix this and trying to find a solution. I am not a dev myself, well I know how to code so I can check the overall code but can't code the eco-system or even advanced functions in the wallet.. Neither can I fix this bug. So really here I don't know what to do, no money left either as we had a LOT of expenses and never sold a single SC. I'm deeply sorry, you know this was never the intent of this coin if it was I would've sold the premine at 8k sat. We paid everything we owed all along including the occulus and everyone in time, and never touched the premine.. All devs took a part of the premine when they left since the wallet was shared, which was worth amost nothing compared to our costs since no buy orders were there to cover all the costs we had. So I really don't know what to do no devs left except for me, I have ~8btc to reinvest in Silkcoin so I'm currently seeking some paid dev to continue this project.
