Title: Watch out bittrex exchange
Post by: Dimitry on July 26, 2014, 11:13:47 AM
Just wanted to point out that bittrex is listing coins with hidden premine and do not research the code first!

please share your hidden premine story here

I got burned on the latest hidden premine coin, Elite!

edit: if you are an investor please think twice before trading on bittrex! They have no research before adding new coins.

Important read right here!

i owned elitecoin for 2 hours before the hidden premine.

i went away after buying the coin and figured i would sell it before i went to bed because i dont want to hold new coins for long.

i watched two episodes of 'hell on wheels' then i came back.

imagine the horror i felt to see 100% of my money lost? it as around $88.18 in usd. this is more than i spend on a week for groceries.

i could have bought something useful with my money.

instead like a fool i trusted it to this exchange which worships scammers.

never again dimitry! never again!

i think it's fair enough to expect bittrex to scan the code. the crypto community should be established enough to understand the basic scams and expect exchanges to do some due diligence.

they seem to have a good reputation, which can only be diminished by ELITE.

they also seem to be fairly randomly and very quickly adding very fast mined coins lately. so perhaps their reputation does deserve some tarnishing.

You know men, you are PAYING their services with the fee on transactions, they are not doing it for free. And personnaly i want to pay for a clean service, not a shaddy one :/

That's the main problem of Cryptos today, there is a BIG lack of professionalism ...

edit: exchanges are not casino, the services in casino are cleans, you will not lose your gains because "sorry but the machine didn't worked well, so we won't be able to refund you"

I have two examples for comparison....

1.  You gamble at a casino, however 50% of the machines you use at the casino are rigged to take your money 100% of the time.  DO you still use that casino when they add new slot machines, or even at all?

2.  Your work for an employer, however some of the jobs you go on, are invalid, and dont pay you.  Do you still work for that company?

Its the same thing, yes there should be a level of personal responsibility, and there absolutely needs to be a level of professional responsibility.

I've lost nothing, zero, zip, nada..... and I still feel this way.  It's not right, and anyone who defends Bittrex is comfortable taking money out of these scams and probably should not be trusted in one way or another.

I was in their IRC yesterday and they acted like they didn't even care. It was sort of like 'oh well. another scam, what can we do?'

No attempt to even think about how they can stop this from continuing to happen.

Too many people supporting them doing this shady practice...

for education purposes:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=566870.msg6535095#msg6535095

that is the link to the asiacoin hidden premine.

if we had the code from elitecoin we could examine it for similarities.

someone should post a copy of main.h and main.cpp so we can see what happened.

we r on our own guys! the exchange could give a fuck if we lose money as long as they gain.

we must protect yourselves!

another poor argument.

we dont need the government to protect us. we need the exchange to review code for hidden premines.

big difference.

besides. you can lose money on the stock market but if a scammer gets caught they go to fucking federal prison.

at least the victims get that satisfaction.

Bittrex is not the problem. YOU are the problem. Who ask you to buy elite ?

U lost money and u are angry ? Get over it, just like people who got BTC on gox.

If u loss money and start blaming, u should seriously get out of alt and hold your BTC.

Nobody force u to buy any coin. U buy it , u know the risk. If u loss money, don't blame others but yourself.
This guy believes in Bittrex, but Bittrex did not check the coin well.
Thanks him for the warning.

Bittrex check or not does not matter. When people loss money , there are people who make money on the same coin. Not everyone loss. Now he lost money and start blaming.

He have to figure out how to make money. Regardless scam or not. Everyone are given the chance to make money on elite. He made bad decision and lost.
wow yellow you are so wrong.bittrex is providing a customer service.its their duty of care to check codes for this sort of stuff.not all people trading in crypto can read code.if some loses money because of bad trading than yes thats their own fault.but when some one losing money after investing a coin which has hidden premine or something else they cant be blamed for it.if bittrex spent alittle longer checking coin before listing every coin that gets released this wouldnt happen.bittrex should be held liable for this.if this happened in the share market the owner would be thrown in jail.i cant wait for the first lawyer to take on a case of some one being scamed in the crypto seen.it will happen.the wrong person is going to get burnt and than the flood gates will open.i would be very wary if i was a dev or exchange invovled in any of the latest scam coins.the amount of scams in the last month has certainly got alot of attention.you can guarantee there are some officals looking at this sought of stuff as we speak.definately a step backwards for the crypto world.for you to say bittrex has no responsibilty to provide their customers with a safe trading platform is just ludicrous

i dont get it. im the newb but you dont know the difference between someone losing on a trade because of prices and losing 100% because of a scam.

u might be the newb, kid. ur logic is flawed.

Just wanted to point out that bittrex is listing coins with hidden premine and do not research the code first!

please share your hidden premine story here

I got burned on the latest hidden premine coin Elite!

i owned elitecoin for 2 hours before the hidden premine.

i went away after buying the coin and figured i would sell it before i went to bed because i dont want to hold new coins for long.

i watched two episodes of 'hell on wheels' then i came back.

imagine the horror i felt to see 100% of my money lost? it as around $88.18 in usd. this is more than i spend on a week for groceries.

i could have bought something useful with my money.

instead like a fool i trusted it to this exchange which worships scammers.

never again dimitry! never again!

LOOOOOOOOL 88 $ dude there are some guys who lost thousands of $ RLY :D :D :D u are funny

not everyone is rich asshole.  ;D

Who complains about such a small amount of money? Ghetto fucking losers. Seriously it is disrespectful to real investors to see morons complain about peasant change.

Looks like it was a scam out to get Bittrex if you ask me.

"EXCHANGES:
- We're looking to get on Bittrex once we launch! "

Maybe the people who are blaming Bittrex should be blaming their shady dev. Anyone willing to go along with this obviously lost money and is looking for someone to take down with them. You guys are just as pathetic as the dev.

Had to include a great post from the first page...

Bittrex is not the problem. YOU are the problem. Who ask you to buy elite ?

U lost money and u are angry ? Get over it, just like people who got BTC on gox.

If u loss money and start blaming, u should seriously get out of alt and hold your BTC.

I do not blame Bittrex for losing money as I did not invest in the coin. However I blame them for the following:

* Taking no care in adding coins leading to support scam developers again and again
* Not really caring about it and acting like they have no professional responsibility, no plans to try and change the situation
* Hurting users and potentially driving them away from altcoin trading due to the risks of a coin being a scam
* Taking volume away from established coins by purely just relying on new coins for volume

It's sad to see how few people notice how damaging this is on the altcoin market, it's not by coincidence there is much less volume now than a few months ago.

I hope none of you miners are saying the fault lies with the investors and not with bittrex.  The investors pay you for your coins.  They rely on Bittrex to vet the coins.  Is it stupid on the investors part? Of course it is.  But that doesn't change the fact that they do rely on bittrex to vet coins.  Investors who can't do the research or don't have the time to do the research make up all most all of the money you the miner are making.  So if their money stops all the mining for profit stops.  I don't see why Bittrex wouldn't jump at the change to hire people to vet code.  It is in their best interest to do so.  Unless of course bittrex doesn't want the hidden premines found.  Maybe they are profiting from them.

I lost over 20btc on ICEBERG COIN and I only have myself to blame for not selling for double my profits during IPO. So please, DYOR don't blame shit and stuff. People win and lose money all day and if you cannot afford to lose money don't bloody be in crypto.

good victim. good. let me pat u on the head.

you bought 20% of the icb ico and u blame yourself only.

didnt you research it? haha.

the first step to overcome victimhood is to start blaming the people who scammed you! that was the dev and bittrex.

I could have got out @ 18k sats which I didn't. Greed took over. Honestly, shitcoins and fucked up devs happen everyday. For all u may know I might die on my next trip overseas because my plane went crashing.

yes dude. i can see how a plane crashing and killing u is the same as me losing money for holding a shitcoin for 2 hours.

anyway,

here is what bittrex says about its process of coin selection:

"We look for coins that have high community demand, innovations to cryto-coin technology, or a contribution to science and humanity."

do you feel bittrex met this mission with the addition of elitecoin?

because if they followed their own rules i wouldn't have had money stolen from me.

no offence, but you are a moron not really wise to put that much money on that sort of coin, and I warned people on iceberg thread telling them that would end up like that.

Don't believe anyone who tell you it will be huge or whatever, except cinnicoin, no coin with 1 week PoW/PoS has ever succeded so an IPO on top of it and many rental rigs, you have absolutely no chance of making any real profit...
Hope you learned the lesson...  ::)

But yes it sucks that Bittrex gives credit all that crappy coin and don't list real new coin...
Bittrex will be dead soon if they continue these business practices

It depends how long you have been trading here, there were barely any scam coins as little as 3-4 months ago, certainly nothing like today and it comes hand in hand with the rising volume of Bittrex it appears.

You invested in something bad, so its the medium you purchased thorough fault?

the technical term for 'something bad' in this case is 'fraud' and 'scam.'

since the platform initiated and profited from the scam they are as responsible as the dev and me.

to continue this ridiculous claim that only the investor is to blame indicates your own willingness to support frauds and scams. therefore we cannot trust your opinion in this matter.

Yep, when that medium takes no counter measures it is their fault.

I'm going to start a casino.... where companies can put their slot machines on my floor.  I will not ensure in anyway what so ever that those slot machines are set to payout as advertised.  So when people get burned is it my fault or the scam slot machines?

It's both.

Too easy... Everybody knows (except some sock puppet on icebercoin thread) it will end up like this. So bittrex knows it too...
The fact they are listing many (not one but many) IPO scam makes them accomplices of the scam.
(and no words from them is even worst)

The only defense against a rigged game is not to play.  If the investors don't play miners don't make money.  Bittrex can check the code and make it a fair game.  Where there are winners and losers not just everyone loses.  Why don't you want that bittrex?  Are you the ones rigging the game?

There is NO need to check the code. Just stop adding coins on the second day and give them a chance to prove themselves, that would weed out the scam developers. I wouldn't complain if there was 1 or 2 a month, but there's been too many to count recently, it's insane.

It blows my mind people run wallets without typing 'getinfo' into the debug console as the first thing they do.

If you didn't type 'getinfo' into the debug console then feel free to blame whoever you want, but you have to blame yourself as well.

Also might want to take some time to understand the debug console and how it can help/protect you.

I am willing to bet half these people complaining are the same ones that are asking for coin to be listed on an exchange an hour after it is launched.

If you cant check the code the code yourself of a coin you are planning on investing in, then get out now!

Bittrex lists a coin because mass numbers of people from the community ask them to.

Yes we get it your all smart and investors are all stupid.  Stupid people who buy your fucking coins miners.  Exchanges either will protect the stupid investors or we will lose because no one will be there to buy our coins.

And still people don't get it.  We need Exchanges to protect the stupid investors or we are all going to lose money.  You can sheer a sheep many times but skin them only once and these investors are getting skinned.

Theres no exchange in the world that protects your money. Not on wall street, etc.

If people cant handle the risks associated with investing then they should just gtfo.

Wall street is regulated, and the people who steal go to jail.

There are always risks, but one of them should not be whether the investment is legitimate or not.

Yes, because there are never scams in the stock market.  Tell that to the people affected by Madoff, or by the Enron scandal.

madoff is in prison for the rest of his life.

if the elitecoin dev was getting a long prison sentence that would be fine!

if he was arrested they would take his computer away and he wouldnt be here a day later to scam us again!

come on these fucking analogies are stupid!

Boofuckinghooo

Were the people who invested in Madoff recoup their loses. No they did not.

Hows that regulation working out again? lol

I am willing to bet half these people complaining are the same ones that are asking for coin to be listed on an exchange an hour after it is launched.

If you cant check the code the code yourself of a coin you are planning on investing in, then get out now!

I am far from an expert coder, but I have learned what to look for in the code.

Bittrex lists a coin because mass numbers of people from the community ask them to.

Its funny though, every one of these coins, starts on a different exchange.

Why aren't you all complaining about the other exchanges who listed these coins first.....

'mass numbers?' what numbers exactly?

Did you not see the tweets asking them to add it.

Were you in thier IRC channel when everyone kept coming to ask if they were adding it.

dude their irc channel and twitter do not have mass numbers.

just a few regular asshole scammers like you pumping the same scams.

It is a dead issue now.  Investors are going to back away from the table.  We the miners are going to profit less.  People don't play the game if they are scared.  Investors must be scared at this point.  If I was an investor I would be scared.  We can't ask investors and traders to buy our coins if exchanges don't vet those coins.  They wont buy them guys.  You calling them stupid won't exactly change that fact either.

Exactly, investors will only invest in coins that have proven over a 6 month period or longer! No new coin will be bought.

I will dedicate all my free time for this. warning people not get scammed like me! And hoping that bittrex is stepping up and do the right thing, scanning the code!

agreed. all the icos/frauds/ethereum has pulled a lot of money off the table.

most of their volume is in one or two coins at a time.

even they are worried. they pushed that warning you will be delisted message up to get the other 150 coin communities to start trading.

this business model is completely unsustainable.

they have no reason to list/delist at this lighting fast pace. nothing is really going on that quick and these coins are copies of other coins.

its up to all us to stay away from the scams. i already admitted i was wrong for buying this shit. i thought i could hold a shitcoin for a few hours and trade it off before bed time (up or down) and i was unable to. never again.

the altcoin market is saturated beyond all reason. why wouldnt any of these new devs just join a bigger team?

please share your hidden premine story here

I got burned on the latest hidden premine coin, Elite!

edit: if you are an investor please think twice before trading on bittrex! They have no research before adding new coins.

I noticed a lot of scamcoins and shitcoins added to bittrex too :(

exchanges are making profit as soon as coin volume picks up and then after sometime that coin gets doomed and exchanges move to another. Its a no loss situation for them.

The stock exchange doesnt guarantee the companies they list, they just list and YOU, the buyer, has to do your own research. It is nobody's fault but your own if you buy a scamcoin. No one forced you. In fact, no one from bittrex endorses coins, they just list them.

Example #1: You gamble at a casino, however 90% of the people you see at the casino
are stupid and loose all their money 100% of the time.  DO you still use that casino when
they add new slot machines, or even at all?

Yes: But I only to to have fun and eat at the Buffet.

The PROBLEM (as I see it) is that the ZERO-DAY people are merely speculating that they can ride a wave which steals the Slack of the less fortunate; who themselves are merely praying that they can take advantage of those -- even less fortunate than them. If you were actually a supporter of a community which just happened to have it's own crypto-currency, and not just trying to cash in by cashing out of one of thousands of flashes in the pan .. You'd either NEVER "invest" in a worthless scam/ponzi coin or you'd be SAVING a worthy payment instrument like it was actual money.

Granted.. an Exchange is not just for exchanging, and most 'persons' do consider them a mechanism for trading with an intent to profit by bouncing around between markets; but if you are going to do that - you really aught to know what you are doing. It is certainly and by no means the fault of the exchange that one puts blind faith in ignorance.

Best way to combat exchanges adding shit coins is to stop buying shit coins and demand for coins that are actually worth a fuck or bring something to BTC/crypto as a whole.

This includes all cryptos using the "anon" pump n dump sales tactic.

Best way to combat exchanges adding shit coins is to stop buying shit coins and demand for coins that are actually worth a fuck or bring something to BTC/crypto as a whole.

This includes all cryptos using the "anon" pump n dump sales tactic.
I agree 100%

Yes so we need these kind of threads to aware people of these problems!

I don't care if Bittrex met the standards that they set -- all I care about of them is that the exchange is working.  Bittrex SHOULD check the code in all the coins, but they DON'T HAVE a responsibility to.  Why don't you check the premine yourself and find out that there was if you wanted to invest in a coin?  It is not Bittrex's responsibility to do research for you.

Remember this thing is going to cost bittrex! they dont like it at all! Ofcourse they should invest time to do research. You know why? because its good for business.

Dont come at me with do your own research i know that! but reading code is another ballgame! And yes I will try to learn it.

But for now all my time goes in informing people to watch out trading at bittrex especially new coins!

quit supporting new coins on bittrex until they review the code.

Fairly sure that is going to happen.  Watch the volume on bittrex over the next few days.  It was 1854 btc for 24 hours at the time of the scam. I made a note of it.  Lets see what it is tomorrow.
[/quote]

Well it is 24 hours ish since the scam.  24 hour volume = 1016 btc.  That is a noticeable drop.  Lets see what it is in 24 more hours.

You can't infer anything from 1 day. You would need to check across a period of time, taking account of typically slow and busy days. Then you would need to look at few more exchanges with a similar market, and compare Bittrex with them

That's the scientific way! :-)

yes I know its weekend summer time etc.

but taking part of fraud and keep the coin listed is very bad for business, and I hope they lose traffic because of this!

dedicated pool ipominer etc add elitecoin 2...they are scammer 2..dedicated check the code and didnt found!there was a big hashrate in the network...nobody check this!!!!!
so not bittrex only...ccex had added elitecoin first btw

so stfu with u 88$ peanuts and move on

fuck off china scammer man.

you move on. go back to your gambling den.

bittrex is supposed to be legit usa business. they should act like one.

I don't need Google to translate your dog droppings, but aren't you still supposed to actually capitalize nouns in German, even after Rechtschreibreform?? Oh and no matter what language you write that shit above in, it's still shit..

He is correct. ScamTrix has changed from an exchange to a facilitator of fraud, that is clear. How many clear out and out scams through their in the last week, 5? How many BTC stolen?

Conspiracy to commit fraud is a crime in the United States and most of the civilized world, which I would think would include Germany as well. What BitTrex is going to end up doing in exactly what you tools don't want, which is bring the full weight of IRS/FINRA and the FBI down on crypto. And as much as I hate that, it seems to be the only way to level the playing field and eliminate the inside trades and outright frauds, so bring it on G-Men. Scream all you want about "no regulation" "the net is free (as if)" blah blah blah. The G-Man will come into any void and regulate. He will also get his cut. And when it happens you can thank fuck sticks like Richie and his scammer buddies for it all.

The stock exchange doesnt guarantee the companies they list, they just list and YOU, the buyer, has to do your own research. It is nobody's fault but your own if you buy a scamcoin. No one forced you. In fact, no one from bittrex endorses coins, they just list them.

Yes, but by law these companies must register with the SEC, and file truthful (by penalty of prison) quarterly statements with audited (by penalty of prison) reports. No SEC, no listing. What shit coins are now are more like penny stocks that run off NYSE/NASDAQ, but even those exchanges are regulated somewhat for fraud and fraud is still punishable by prison time.

What BitTrex is, is still yet in a grey area, but they are essentially a penny stock exchange and conspiring in insider trading and blatant fraud schemes. They are walking a very very thin line and IMHO a good federal prosecutor could have them raided and make a case that sticks after the computer forensics are done.

And with every scam they launch, (5 or so in the last week?) more complaints are filed and I really do believe they will be getting some unwanted attention soon. I personally won't put any crypto in there and certainly not a BTC. Don't want to get goxed.

Right, and Bernard Madoff sat on the Board of Directors of the Securities Industry that regulated the industry.

How'd that work out?  :D

Last I read the old Jew Madoff will die in prison? Oh and has been beaten several times!  ;D  ;D

If I was a major shill (MsCollec) of the Visacoin scam and created a coin (SYNC) with a hidden premine and revised the block explorer to cover it up, would you list it ?

Poloniex sure as hell will ! And its your fault if you get burned.

The fact of the matter is, NONE of these shitcoin bank wannabe exchanges should be trusted.

Agreed, but one would think after Gox and other exchanges with poor business practices, people wouldn't be less trusting of exchanges.  It's been time for users to step up to the plate and not expect the exchanges to take full responsibility for managing the fuds including which coins they invest in.

Hello,

is there an official Bittrex Exchange Thread?

Is that synonymous with you so that the sale orders are deleted after a certain time? That's so annoying ...

A support ticket will not be answered to disable this again ...

But that's no reason to install a automagically "sell order" deletion after a conscience time...

A obvious puff if you ask me. Never trust what other people can promise you. Trust your own judgement and make your own calls.

Reading threads like this can really save someone from losing money. It is better to do research first before dealing with anyone or any coin.
