OK, he/she used GMAIL instead of HOTMAIL.  Anyway, will take a $20 gamble.  I'm still way ahead of the game overall.  Seller will be sending codes first.  If they go into my account that is a good start but of course doesn't mean they will still be good a week or 2 from now. Gonna drink a lot of frapps FAST! Will update.

Appreciated,  I'm not worried about getting codes that don't work, I'm worried that they will still be good 2-3 weeks from now. :)  That's the gamble I have to take buying something so absurdly cheap that obviously ORIGINATED from a questionable source. No reflection on SELLER but on the source seller obtains them from.  There are just way too many of these going around.

Don't think Escrow won't help with that.  :)   Seller says s/he will send codes first and I told seller that I will update here.  Doesn't matter to me.  If seller wants escrow I have no problem but it's only 20 bucks.

Unfortunately that makes absolutely no difference.  There is a "code trail."  They know what card was used to buy the next card.  The one card that got shut down for me (off eBay) I did exactly that except I purchased it in the store.  When I called SB to ask why it was shut down they told me that it originated with a bad card.  These are just like credit cards.

Interesting.  You can actually print out the original e-gift card from within your account.   It was a $100 card but the e-card says $20.

Starbucks just limit 20$ per egift when you buy a egift by egift in last month. That why when you print egift, you just see balance 20$. So you can check history of this card and see money I tranfer to.

Are these codes international? Can I claim it in Germany?

That's how I looked at it as well.  I used about $19 tonight without problem.

That being said, I find it hard to take anyones "vouch" for any seller despite his # of posts or "trust" because there is so much buying and selling of accounts from this forum that for the most part you have no idea who you are REALLY dealing with.  I don't understand why the powers that be here just simply not allow this.

I didn't want to bump this thread back up to give him more exposure, but c'mon guys, use a bit of common sense. This guy had ZERO post priory to selling these. It's not hard to make a new account to scam for $20. All it takes is one sucker to make it worth it.

You might think codes are legit now, but they can lose balance any time. He can say they're legit all he wants, but his promises hold no water. Here is an example of someone selling starbucks GC's that reversed all his codes after giving them out. Confirmed almost $800 worth reversed, then some people never even got codes:

I always send code first to buyers and tell them use code fast in 1 week. That's why my cards have cheap price. I sell for somebody at here and didn't get any problem

Every time I read these types of messages I LMAO.  If you believe for 1 second that ANY Starbucks code bought from ANYONE here is truly legit you must be in a dream world.  They all originate from the same place no matter who sells them.  If you are buying one from ANYONE whether it's for $60 or for $20 you are in the same boat taking the same chance.

Look at it as a gamble.  You either lose $20 or make $80. EVERYONE selling them are selling fraudulently obtained cards from somewhere.  GUARANTEE .... haha.  Really, what is a GUARANTEE worth when/if the seller disappears. Watch how fast the sellers disappear (then reappear under new or "purchased" identities) if their cards start to fail.

That being said, I have purchased a lot of them from 3 different sellers here and spent a lot of money at SB's and have been lucky with only 1 exception which was from eBay.  YMMV.  But don't think for ONE SECOND **ANY** of these cards are legit.  If you believe that you are seriously fooling yourself.  Take a chance or don't take a chance but no one seller is any better than any other.  These cards may be good NOW but use them up fast because 2,3,or 4 weeks from now they could be gone to ZERO.

As for this seller in this thread, I bought one card a few days ago and have spent about $50 off it and so far so good.  Can't go wrong for $20, but 3 weeks from now it might be shut down by SB but I'm still $30 ahead of the game. I figure if I'm going to get ripped off I'd rather it be for $20 than for $60. :)

They are clearly from some kind of illegal bought as the OP isn't willing to tell us where he has them from.

Wow, I knew a lot of these cards were often obtained illegally, but most people's deals with them here seem to go well, but that guy ripped a lot of people off. I wonder if he bought the cards himself with his own Paypal or CC then just charged them all back?

Do you really think ANY Starbucks cards sold here are "legit?"  If so you are hallucinating.  I bought one for 80% of face off eBay and it went bad.  Fortunately eBay stands behind it.  Just because you pay 50% and not 20% or 40% of face and they work doesn't make them legit.  Where do you think these hundreds of SB cards that have appeared in the last few months all over the place (eBay, here, Raise.com and others) come from?  You think Starbucks sells them to all these anonymous sellers at 80% off so they can sell them for 60-70% off?  These ALL, no matter who they are from, come from sources that to say the least are "questionable."

All I personally care about is if I can get my coffee & Fraps & K-Cups every day but believing ANY seller is selling "legit" cards is totally ridiculous.  No way can it happen.  Starbucks just doesn't give out cards to people so they can sell them for 40-80% off face value and STILL make money.

Think about it:  The seller gets it from their "source" who has to make a profit, and the seller has to make a profit.  So what does the "original distributor" pay for these cards?  You think Starbucks sells $100  codes for $5 to the distributor who sells them to the seller for $10 who sells them to you for $$????$$.

Look at the purchase history of these cards online if you add it to your SB account.  The initial purchase is made for $5,$10 or $20 just to get an actual card number,  Then the seller usually REMOVES the initial purchase and loads the card with $100 (or whatever) from their source of these questionable codes and sends them to the buyer. 

Bottom line .. they are ALL obtained fraudulently in one way or another.  You are NOT buying a "legit" card from ANYONE so just buy 'em as cheap as you possibly can and keep your fingers crossed that you can use them up fast enough or at least for long enough to recoup your cost then anything after that is "profit" for you.  Don't kid yourself into thinking ANYONE is selling "legit" SB cards here because they aren't. If they were they'd publish their name, address & phone number and not hide behind anonymous names.

This forum is a source of great savings on SB cards, but if you think ANY of them are legit you're totally naive.

No, what usually happens is starbucks randomly resets the cards and they aren't useable anymore, and you aren't ever contacted by them. Usually when you buy these cards (obviously fraudulently obtained) you have to spend them quick.

This is pretty accurate, balance usually goes bad within 2-3 days.

And you wont get a call by starbucks or anything. You`ll just notice your balance is zero, so buy at your own risk.

Just so everyone knows, this user was honest.  He admitted that these cards are illegal, and you should use them in the first 1-2 weeks, or else the balance will disappear or something.  Caveat emptor.

LOL, I've spent my 2 x $20 5x over.  No loss to worry about, but, knock wood, they're still tickin'.  Not holding my breath though. :)

is there any guarantee on the balance of the cards? i will buy at LEAST 1 if you can guarantee the balance for a time period that is acceptable to me.

I understand that people buy these cards because they're cheap but I would avoid them. I would be devastated if this happened to me and buying from these frauds only encourages them

Anyone tried this yet? Take the GC over to starbucks and buy another gift card with your virtual balance. Its untraceable unlike a transfer, because on the card it just shows up as an instore purchase, and starbucks can't trace the card number off that. When I bought a couple hundred $ worth of GCs from nahtnam for my family I did this just to be safe, and no problems yet, but his cards are pretty legit.

Not true. When you buy another card it leaves a trail. THe receipt itself says you paid with another giftcard and gives the number. If the card is reported stolen or whatever they remove that balance any balance that was used with it.

Wrong.  I can assure you it can be tracked.  They scan both cards and can track them.

what is all this talk of tracking, i can think of a way or two its legit.

 
I agree with you 100% (you have to use them up fast) ..... however how could you have possibly believed under any circumstances that they were obtained legitimately? Because they told you they were?  Did you think SB's was selling thousands of cards for pennies on the dollar to all these mysterious, anonymous people from Viet Nam, Russia, China and other dark corners of the world who then sell them to you so you can re-sell them and everyone still makes money?  I think just like the rest of us (both buyers and sellers) you were looking to make a quick buck and you just got caught.   It just a gamble.  A few get lucky and win but many lose. I figure if I get back in coffee & food at least what I paid for the cards I have bought so far I'm doing OK.  Anything else is a win.

Disclaimer: I bought quite a few card from this seller without any problems (so far).

The only thing I DO think is that the chance that ANY SB card from ANY seller on this forum is legit is virtually ZERO even though I have purchased quite a few from various sellers including this one without any problems SO FAR.  The fact that they do work (so far) does not by any means make them legit or guarantee that they will still work 4 weeks from now.

In regards to you thinking you haven't purchased from this seller.

I've purchased 4 or 5 cards so far from **this** seller (and a couple other sellers as well) with no problem (so far).  I don't care who he/she is and how many names he/she uses as long as I can spend the cards .... and so far I can.  As long as I can get my $20 I paid out of them I consider anything more "a bonus."  That is why I won't pay much more than $20 for a SB card. So far I am WAY ahead of my "investment."

I have no expectations or illusions that these cards (or ANY CARDS, codes, keys etc) or most anything else for that matter sold on this forum are legit and anyone who does is dreaming.

Not only that, but with the buying and selling of user account here I have no expectation that ANYONE is who they say they are. Maybe some are for real but the buying and selling of accounts makes all this "TRUST" stuff PURE BS.  Unfortunately that hurts those who have legit accounts.

Oh well.  BE CAREFUL!  His cards are starting to get shut down and this seller is no where to be found.  While I never expect to see him again, I only lost $20 (so far).  I still have a few more of his that are OK.

In all fairness I want to update my previous comment.  After not hearing anything from this seller other than "STOP SELLING  ;D ;D ;D" when I advised him/her that the card I was sold was shut down by SB I was surprised this morning to receive replacement codes for that card as I had written it off as a loss.  I added the codes to my account today and they worked.  Looking at the EXISTING transactions that already existed on the REPLACEMENT card/codes I was sent I still have concern that the card won't last more than a couple days as there was a lot of previous activity on it going back many months. However I do feel it is only fair to state the card was replaced today.  I will not remove my "neg trust" until a few days pass to see if the cards remains active.

I have removed the negative trust from this seller because (as quoted above) s/he sent me a replacement card which I thought for sure I would never receive based on response to my closed card replacement request earlier. This card has been fine and is just about used up.

Whats the average dead rate on these cards?

I've bought about 13 total from a few sellers and I have had only 1 "go bad" and it has been replaced.  The oldest ones, still in my drawer waiting to be given as holiday gifts are around 4 weeks old.  Of course, your resulds my be entirely different than mine.  The 2 sellers still around that I have purchased from are this one and sophia26 also active here.  There are a couple others that have disappeared or maybe reappeared under different names.  You never know around here as accounts are bought and sold like beer so you really never know who is who.  It's a gamble but I figure that if I pay no more than $30 for $100 card it's worth the gamble.  So far I have been lucky.
