Title: [ANN] ELC Elacoin|Elastic Scrypt-N Mining|Two exchanges|New wallet!
Post by: Matory on September 02, 2014, 01:15:53 PM
This coin is under the RevivalCoinGroup management.
Most alt coins have a very short life, because they're not announced in advance, and the only users of it are the early adapters or the preminers. Elacoin is an open cryptocurrency based on the Scrypt-N hashing algorithm, with a few innovative modifications:

https://i.imgur.com/dQ0HAZm.png

Elastic block reward algorithm based on the difficulty and Moore's Law
The more computational power you throw at it, the more each block will give.
The reward is halved every nine months to preserve the coin's value.

Stable Currency that Regulates Itself Through Supply and Demand
Less demand? Less hashpower, less block reward, less supply. Same value.
High demand? More hashpower, more block reward, more supply. Same value.

Fast Payments and Confirmations
The block target is one every 2 minutes, which is the perfect amount.
Fast enough without running into network IO limits, or bloating your hard drive.

Name/Symbol: Elacoin / ELC
Launch date: May 13, 2013
Algorithm: Scrypt POW now/ Scrypt-N (after Sept,20 2014)
Block Time: 120 seconds
Block reward: 1.161568 (now) Half every 9 month
Difficulty: KGW
Port: 9223
RPCport: 9222

Does anyone have a link to the source for the new wallet? I see the binaries, but I need source to build a new client for my pool.

whelp, i control the original source, but i bless this fork as soon as someone trusted reviews the code to see what's hidden inside...  for your own benefit people, you should.

i guess yer forking the blockchain then if there's a new retarg calculation.. what block#?

I own elacoin.cc, can transfer the domain and hosting to your management

So since the blockchain is now at 137722, is has forked? A little earlier than the Sept 20 timeline? If it has I need to fix my pool.

Seems like a bit of a failed launch of this new fork and wallet, given that it hard-forked over to parameters incompatible with the official Elacoin wallet at least 12 earlier than advertised, and before anyone did a thorough examination of the source code of this new wallet.

Only one or two miners, and a relatively low hash rate for the pool.  Not sure if there is another pool, or a bunch of solo miners, but the coin has ~150 mh/s on the network?  Let's try to spread this around!

vern might not make a move til i give a nod, at least i hope so, not because it's me but because I have a link to the old active community. i havent seen any of the stakeholders from early days (representing still a majority of the ELC being held) that have vetted and assented to this fork.

you need some consensus in here and elsewhere before you will be successful. do what you want, but you really need some community agreement. i just dont see it.

Where this active community?
I know at least four stakeholders and they are in this thread and agree with any new changes.

Sounds like a moderate usage of hyperbole to me, though active shareholders in a thread does mean that the community is active, albeit not a very large community.

In old thread I send first message at two months ago, news about release new wallet at month ago. Though, enough time to make a decision or to refuse it, isn't it?   ;) in any case, rebuild old wallet was necessary and now wallet work good and smooth.

scare up the stakeholders and we'll make a move. not sure the best way to prove they're stakeholders though, from some kinda proof of stake (lol) in the blockchain - produce a signable
message on a 0.01 elc xmission or something for their adddresses, say, would be good ya?

let me know what you can get together. I dont want to free the whole blockchain and code to just anyone.

Cryptocurrency is decentralized and no single person "owns" the coin...  The old code needed to be fixed and it is now fixed...  Were you satisfied with a broken product?

No one wants to be a part of a hostile take over, and I can assure you that is not anyone's intention here...  But, what do you stand to gain from holding everything back?

What do we stand to lose by accepting unvetted code from someone  who wasnt around at the start and doesnt hold much coin?

Assuming that you can read the code, you (or anyone) is welcome to review the change history from the fork of your latest version...  The changes are well documented and transparent.  The coder that we work with has 15+ years experience in C / C++ coding and I can assure you all we did is fix the block chain that was frozen and jumping around, and change the algo of the coin.

Any value / coins in the old client were essentially stuck, and would take significant time to transfer value between wallets.  My guess would be that most of your bag holders walked away from the coin out of frustration, and would be happy to know the wallet works again.

Your decisions take quite a long time. More than they should. I don't want to wait for the transactions in two days, this is an important reason to change the code.

Hi Math, hi everybody!

Math, as I'm not a programmer (though holding some ELC's and current elacoin.cc website) I can not estimate the code.
I agree that live product is better than broken and abandoned one.
So if you think that code is safe, I will support the takeover.

Poker the problem is no one has looked at the code. So the only way forward here is if we think the coin is worth 0 then there's no risk. I havent done the work of evaluating
the highest stakeholder's current worth (maybe its only $100?), so I dont know how much there is to loose.

I dont see alot of traffic in here, so maybe it doesnt matter in the end.......

I think that current marketcap of ca.$5000 is the same as zero))
I doubt that anybody is holding more than 50k of elc's (saw bid of 14k at Cryptsy)
And even if somebody is holding that much, he's got no chance to sell as nobody is buying.

I myself am holding 13847.498 ELC at EVVhGHBwMH2ZJiuiQ3LGwH1UsZ47hNnM8F and estimate this mega-holding as zero:)))
So, no risk IMO:)))

I pulled the plug on the mining pool until this is worked out...  It is a waste of resources and misleading to have folks mining on a fork that has a 50 / 50 chance of being abandoned.  I can only assume that Cryptsy is either ignoring this fork or is working with Mat5x, who isn't releasing the coin...  No one has reached out to me or Matory.

The pool was powered by NOMP, so all coins were paid out as they were confirmed...  If we decide to move forward I can reactivate the pool.

By all means, if you find this an acceptable level of risk, please solo mine.  I just feel like having a community pool risks causing confusion since the community appears to be split at the moment.

After new explorer come. Now is ~408,000

so the max coins that can be mined by the end of pow is 408k coins?

Max coins is near 3,800,000 after ~37 years  :o

Block is elastic and half every 9months/270days.

what we actually need is a working blockexplorer!

weboise is down? hmm, I havent talked to that guy in a while.

well, if its otherwise worth 0, then we can release it i suppose. I mean, its only one more feather in the hat of credibility to have me agree to give up the elacoin github account to you guys for your fork, you didnt NEED it to fork, but i suppose it helps.

is this what we want to do poker? You hold alot more coin than me.

Math, we are not losing anything.

Any motion is better than death, so let them try:)
Somebody is already buying at Cryptsy....
I already told the guys at PM that I'm ready to transfer elacoin.cc - it also worth nothing if the coin is abandoned

Great!

And both of these blockexp show, that Cryptsy is among the greatest holders and working on old blockchain.
Moreover, trade volume on Cryptsy increased last month, all that people are depositing and withdrawing with Cryptsy.

at old blockchain we've got 161466 with diff 47.39, new 161123 with diff 0.12
stats at elc.cryptcoins.net are showing Net Hashrate:   2323.704 MH/s   Pool Hashrate:   160.903 MH/s

So people are mining at the old blockchain also.

Cryptsy IMO will never switch to new one as it will result in a huge mess with depositing/withdrawing people which will actually lose the coins.

It means that we can only fork AFTER we agree with Cryptsy but not before.....

Matory?

My first ticket to Cryptsy about change algo and release new wallet was from 2 sep, Ticket ID - 155978. (new algo change 20 sep).
Then more 10 different tickets about ELC wallet.
But Cryptsy not responded no one!
I think now right way is update Cryptsy wallets. It's will bring minimal loss, Cryptsy hold 243 addresses and have near 169,557 ELC.
We as community must to adhere to the new path, because we have stable wallet, TWO explorers and this actions increase volume! This is in Cryptsy interests too.

So, what we do now? Create new fork at next week?  ;D It's not problem for us, but if Cryptsy not update again we lost much time.
 Is it fair for other ELC members?

Just so I understand .... it appears someone forked this coin from scrypt 1024 increasing the n factor and Cryptsy never 'cleared' it or agreed to update so are people still mining on the old chain ?

If they are I think that is the valid chain if the largest exchange that carries the coin is still running old wallets.

Maybe I am wrong and the old chain is stalled at the change block which would mean anyone with coins on cryptsy cannot move them on or off.

I would appreciate if someone would post nodes that are active that allow coins to be sent to/ from cryptsy if there are any.

Also if someone can actually confirm if they are able to move coins at all I would appreciate it.

I was considering buying coins on cryptsy but I don't want to buy coins I can't move off the exchange.
Also if the 'takeover' is not accepted by everyone I would favor the original code as long as it had active nodes.
If need be I can make my own wallet or temporary node but if there are no others to connect to I won't waste my time.

ELC has had and has a very fair and INNOVATIVEmining scheme, i don't comprehend this revival group nonsense, as it's been minting fluidly since day one.

It's like BITCOIN needing a revival group after NAKAMOTO launched it.

Storytelling...

There is a simple guide on the first page, either mine solo using your wallet, similarly to how you mine any scrypt/sha coin or use the mineshaft pool, once it gets going. It's all in the first post on the first page.

So this isnt the same ELC that was originally launched that I curated the code for long ago, completely new blockchain since the rerelease?

Good thing there's a year in that datestamp.

So how did poker hold onto all his old coins from the old blockchain?

I didn't understand... is this coin still alive or not?
I see it's still traded on Cryptopia and the website is still alive.
Is the dev still around here?
I have elacoin-qt v0.6.3.0-gfbb005d-beta and no sync.
Is there a new ver of the wallet? Any node?
Thank you.

Traded in Cryptopia (https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange?market=ELC_BTC)  and Yobit (https://yobit.net/en/trade/ELC/BTC).

Code:
addnode=51.255.13.23
addnode=66.70.222.241
addnode=86.176.38.237
addnode=195.114.136.76
addnode=108.170.1.134
addnode=94.180.232.120
addnode=85.236.188.28
addnode=151.20.204.101
addnode=217.118.93.104
addnode=128.72.173.185

You can insert all nodes of explorer http://51.255.13.23:30004/network

You need 0.6.6 wallet, after the hardfork (diff adjust and scrypt-N) see here:

It's the same blockchain, if you had coins in 2013 you still have coins now (you need 0.6.6 wallet).
But, it's not "that was originally launched" after the hardfork (Scrypt-N + fast diff adjust). Like Bitcoin and others after "soft" and hardforks...

Cryptopia delisting ELC:

Quote
Dear Cryptopians,

You are receiving this automated email because we have identified that you have a balance or deposit address for one or more of the following coins.

As of today (May 7th), the below coins have been put into delisting.

We are delisting these coins as they have ongoing technical problems such as no working Block Explorer and we want to ensure our customers have access to digital tokens that continue to meet our coin listing criteria and have a properly functioning blockchain and wallet. To ensure your funds are safe and off the exchange before these coins are removed, for those where it is possible we recommend withdrawing these coins from the exchange immediately. Prior to withdrawing, we recommend checking the CoinInfo page as to the status of the coin.

PLEASE NOTE: The coins marked with an asterisk (*) have significantly broken blockchains or wallets that will not allow withdrawals. In those cases, the inability to withdraw your balance is not due to Cryptopia but caused by a problem with the underlying Blockchain or Wallet associated with that coin. Please do NOT contact us about these as there is nothing we can do to assist. These coins/projects are effectively abandoned.
...

    ElaCoin (ELC)

  ...

These coins will be fully delisted one month from today (the last day for all these coins on the exchange being June 7th).

Any issues or questions regarding these delistings should be sent directly to the developers of the respective coins.

Kind Regards,

The Cryptopia Team

Hi,

So i used this link for the wallet
https://mega.nz/#!7QkEhAhD!31iMM4FuJs4UtZc7RbCTd81uN9bwraA2IHGOE0avWTY

But when i try to run it i get missing file "libwinpthread-1.dll"

I have many versions of this file on my pc, and all fail but one, which does not crash, i can se the blockchain growing in "roaming" folder, but i have just a blank window instead of a working wallet.

Does anyone have a working wallet please?

A fresh screen shoot from yobit.net elacoin wallet. (Sloooooow loading)

http://fileserver.imagebucket.net/i/00000/ook95aw41k3f_t.jpg (http://imagebucket.net/ook95aw41k3f/elacoin_yobit.jpg)

Online and fully synced. Nuff said. And thanks.

PS: Wow. A new coin that have missed my attention.

PPS: For fuck sake.- Get a spell checker for those conffiles! (4. Statements made by a coin or coin community that could bring the reputation of Cryptoipa into disrepute) Cryptoipa ? PothHeads! Same goes for the constant error 500!

Statement made by a coin.. That makes sense.

No need to tell i am smiling. This is hilarious! Back to trading Analcoin. (Yes. Analyst. Not analphabetic)

Anyways. That image thing. Just tell people "If we cant rip you off. Then we will fuck you over". They will understand that.

It's not profitable anymore from what I can see unless you're the only one on the network CPU mining. GPUs/ASICs have better use in other places.

Edit for some quick math based on today's rates for BTC and ELC:
Let's say I get every block reward (entirely possible as I'm doing it right now). A block is mined ~2 minutes (difficulty is dynamic so it doesn't matter if you have 100 MH/s or 1 H/s with an empty network). The block rewards is 0.163296 ELC. Based on today's rates, 1 BTC = $7348 and 1 ELC = 0.00001025 BTC ($0.075317).

0.163296 ELC/block x $0.075317/ELC x ~30 blocks/hour x 24 hours/day = $8.85/day (IF YOU MINE EVERY BLOCK AND SELL AT THE BEST PRICE). It's only worth mining if you're the only one mining with a spare CPU.

Those who have KNC Titan can benefit from this coin. But CPU user like me, will have no chance anymore.

Well yea, up until recently there were like 1 or 2 people GPU mining and sometimes no one mining. The recent Cryptopia pump made it a little more profitable.

This version https://github.com/collapsedev/Elacoin_Linux_Daemon can be useful for Linux users with HDD.
More than 30x faster start of Elacoin client (<20 seconds). Should work in other platforms, if you can compile it.

Man this is definitely one of the more complex and challenging ICOs . Probably need to take some time to dig into it and understand most of it

Most of the coins have a very short life, because they have not been published before, and those who use its unique are early adopters. This project will make transactions more convenient, I like it

Hi Everyone. Maybe we should fill the listing form for NovaExchange concerning Elacoin.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdRNwypA-6DiWqsX4-VuWYKdM0mMyL8COUuvQoqkm1AaVA45Q/viewform (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdRNwypA-6DiWqsX4-VuWYKdM0mMyL8COUuvQoqkm1AaVA45Q/viewform)

They are gonna re-opening the 3 december 2018 ...

https://novaexchange.com/ (https://novaexchange.com/)

Cryptopia isn't a serious site anymore. They decided alone to remove few small coins as Elacoin. However, selling small coins was the main Cryptopia's Business model before.
They thinking they're going to compete with Binance or Bittrex by delisting coins unilaterally ...

PS : I made an article about Elacoin (in French)

ELC was traded in this platform. Low volume trade, then one year ago they changed the owner, low volume in all coins market.
