Can't understand the Mini Box was announced  April 07, 2012 and somebody could order it in January?

They ordered the BFL RIG at 50GH/s at 30K USD. When they announced the mini-rig they split a full rig into two mini-rigs.

I can't understand why you don't read more and type less. There is a lot of useful information in the forums but you need to take your time and go slow.

It's alright if he didn't know.  There is a ton of information on here, more than you can catch up on in a month.

But this is not the way to do business. They got the30 K and after 4 months they split a full rig into two mini-rigs and delayed the delivery.
So what if I order a Mini Rig now and after 4 months they split it in 2 Nano Rigs and so on.
Its just insane!
Please tell me that I'm wrong.

BFL delays are well documented with thousands (litterally thousands) of post on the topic.  There is nothing you can add which hasn't already been said at least a couple hundred times.  Their original product ("BFL Single") was also delayed.  If the (very real) risk of further delays is too much for you then don't order.

Before you hit "reply" I am being serious that anything you could possible think of saying right now (no matter how unique you are convinced it is) has probably already been debated back and forth ad naseum.  It would be a good idea to search and skim through the thousands of post which already covered every possible angle of the issue.

Wow so five by now, that's ~1% of total hash power. BFL's starting to make some real dents.

There is likely 20+ ordered (one guy mentioned ordering 6 -- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76217.msg845633#msg845633) but suspect many don't want to reveal their expansion goals.  ;)

This thread and the singles thread only represent a fraction of actual orders.  I know of quite a few singles (> 50, not including all of my orders which I also have not reported) that are not reported in the other thread, and I know of a number of mini-rigs that are not reported here.  These two threads aren't really useful for gauging ship times on much of anything, other than your relative place in line.

Shocking that diff has been dropping for ~1 month then, isn't it. I wonder if we'll go over 2mn by Q3 then.

I disagree with your point about the threads not being useful for gauging ship times. I believe they are doing a great job of accurately measuring the actual ship times. Perhaps you mean they shouldn't be used for estimating future ship times, but it is the best measurement we have. If anyone has anything better please let us know.

But measuring actual ship times are a measurement of past performance and are already a known quantity.  Who cares that you received your unit in 7 weeks, 3 days and 14 hours?  It matters little.  The point of tracking it is to estimate future ship times, and as you said, it's not really useful for that, since only a fraction of the orders are reported here. 

Just because they got a blob of orders shipped out to people who posted here and you are "next in line" for orders that are posted here  doesn't mean there's not 75 singles ahead of you in line, that aren't reported here.  That was my point.

That's why it's called an estimate.

It's certainly better than nothing, which is what we would otherwise have.  Right now, we know that they've basically made it through all of the January orders.  We wouldn't know that if this list hadn't been created.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from posting about it.. I'm just pointing out the information is functionally useless.  So you know they've made it through the January orders... now what?  Are there 250 singles in prep before the next person "in line" on these forums gets his shipped, or is he really the next in line?  Who knows! 

It's not an estimate because the data you have is completely unrelated to the data that affects shipping dates/times.  I mean, I guess you can call it an estimate, but when you have only 25% o the available information (and I am being generous), the estimate means very little.

I mean.. I "estimate" that the block rate difficulty will be 1.75 million in 3 months, but that estimate is really meaningless, since very little of the variables are known at this point. 

I guess we have different takes on what a meaningful estimate is then.  ;)

It's better than nothing, that is all I am trying to say.  If they make it through February and March orders at the same pace as January orders, then I could expect my singles to arrive near the end of May.  If they don't make it through as quickly, then maybe June or July.  But at least I have SOME idea of when I might be able to expect them.

If the list wasn't here, I would have no idea whether to expect my singles tomorrow, or 5 months from now.  With the list, I can kind of judge how quickly they are getting through the current orders, and make a reasonable guesstimate as to when I will receive my order.  And that guesstimate will only get more accurate as they start shipping orders closer and closer to mine.  It's not a 100% sure thing, like you said, someone right before me could have ordered 1000 singles, who knows.  But it's a best guess.  It's better than nothing.  It's a reasonable estimate.

I wasn't expecting much for this list but since someone asked for it, I decided to make it.  There is not a lot of room for estimation right now with this list, but I think the singles list provides more information especially for the April orders.  People seem to be more confident now that they are seeing the "large" amount of shipments and so they not only place an order but they make it public as well.  I'm sure the singles wait list also affects their business in a positive way.

I think the big one will be when BlackPropor's order of 50 is shipped. It'll be a good indicator to the public of how well they are handling large orders.  In reality it's no different than all of the small orders, but people view it as a huge bottle neck.

And unfortunately, his is right before mine.  :(

This is false. The data they have is related, being a [badly selected] sample. As the OP said, still better than nothing.

Any chance I'll see this by July?  After reading all of these posts, I get the feeling BFL "tests" equipment by mining for their own btc before shipping it.

I remember hearing that they mine on eligius to the eligius donation address to do the burn in.

Why do people keep bringing up this ridiculous conspiracy theory?  And what difference would it make as to whether you would buy one or not?

...all I know is that their Easyminer GUI (shown on their site) defaults to Eclipse Mining, and Inaba seems very enthusiastic about them  :)

Sonny didn't give you an estimate when you ordered?  If it's still the same 12-15 (I'd assume 15) week timeframe he gave me, that'd put yours somewhere between July 30th and August 20th.

Since they are the best FPGA currently around the block when price/watts/speed is all taken into consideration (to my knowledge) it wouldn't make a difference unfortunately.  I say unfortunately because I wish there was some more efficient product building competition out there with their specs since the clock is ticking to the end of the year before rewards get halved.  Forgive me for expecting diligent customer service for our 5 figure purchases, heh.


I've only ever spoken to a "Jody" over there in customer service.  She confirmed my 4 singles so far.  Still waiting to hear how they want payment for the mini-rig or even acknowledge they received the order.

Has anyone received any progress updates from bfl on their mini-rig development?

Three weeks ago, Sonny told me that they haven't hit any snags for my March order that's due to ship end of June.

I'd like to hear from fefox or gigavps, though.  I believe their orders are due to ship in the next week or two.

I sent Sonny a email today asking for any updates, I think the last time I heard anything about delivery was for the end of May'ish.

waiting to see what the answer is..  I sure hope its SOON!  8)

That's lead time, if you order now, initial orders are those placed in January for a $30k rig. They said such orders should begin shipping end of May.

Still waiting but it sucks when a company sit on your cash for more than 30 days.   I would have saved in BTC and saw 20% return.
I would buy 5 more but that much cash in the wind for 60 days is just crazy.

I'm not sure where you got the 60 days, the Mini-Rig is quoted 12 to 15 weeks, that's at least 84 days!

If you look at the wait times located here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77796.0 you will see the singles are down to less than 60 days.

I suspect this list most likely represents 10%, if not less, of their orders for mini rigs.

Fefox ordered about 8 weeks before me and seems to be my best point of reference, so I'm looking forward to hearing when he receives his.

Sonny said on the weekend that I should see a rig shipped this week... as soon as I get a confirmation I will update here.

It was April when he came up with his mining bond for the ordering of them from the proceeds raised by the sale.

I've said as much already about the cosy little setup there, was first to receive the singles as well had rack full of them when everyone else could not get their hands on them. Company wise if you like over 50% of your money invested going straight into his pocket not hardware purchased for your benefit, as all his offerings so far have had that as their main feature, go for it.

I'm pretty sure giga ordered his before I did.

For someone with the name "Does It Look Like I Give A Fuck" you sure do take an interest in getting the facts mixed up. I was the first to purchase Mini Rigs before they were mini rigs. My original order was for TWO 50Gh/s RIG BOXES.

I purchased these long before knowing what a perpetual mining bond was and with my own funds.

I would appreciate that if you are going to constantly talk about me on the forums that you at least get your facts straight.

Produce the receipt for payment and I just might believe you. And if what you say is true you certainly now have not purchased them with your own funds they have been bought with other peoples money with the balance of them funds raised going straight into your pocket.

I asked Sonny about how many Mini's had been made, and may have got this wrong cause im kinda excited right now, but im sure he said this box was Mini Rig #9 out of a first pre-orders of 12...

Congrats Fefox. They are excellent machines and I'm sure you'll be bored with how little you need to do to run it. You'll need to use BFGminer to run it until luke-jr is done writing the updated code to make the mini rigs work with p2pool.

I have sizable bounties out to both con and luke to get it working and into cgminer.

Of course I am crazy could not have anything to do with you claiming these facts as real then providing no proof of them. Don't know about the rest of you but I can produce receipts for $50 purchases within minutes let alone a supposed $60k purchase. So put up or shut about your supposed facts and it certainly is the easiest way to prove me wrong and shut me up. But you cannot do that can you as the date on the receipt does not support your lies already told.

I got a Mini-Rig today. Apparently they are actually made solely in China and are resold at your local Indian Reservation. (Also illegal in most of the US)

It was reported that as soon as the Mini-Rig is ready to ship, the buyer is contacted and asked if we wants the MiniRig shipped, or the funds transfered to an ASIC product order, and currently the MiniRig only makes sense if your country has no import tax and you have another $15k for the SC upgrade later on.

I doubt that most of their customers post their orders here.  Not everybody cares to be social on the Internet, especially with issues regarding money.  Everybody IRL who I tell I invested $30k in Bitcoin mining hardware is astounded that I'd make the actual dollar amount of my investment public knowledge.  I'm just weird like that, though...Don't really care.

I'm confirmed that I'll have mine on Thursday or Friday.

There are many customers not on the list. However, Sonny must have underestimated greatly OR there will be easily 100-200TH/s just from mini-rig upgrades when the asics ship.

I got two mails stating that my shipping deadline is August 2.

I find the list very valuable.
It can prove that people actually receive functional mini rigs
It can prove that there is a shipment schedule based on the order date
It can help BFL to fight against accusations of scam and ponzi scheme

I am also interested in future shipment timing as I may order more mini rigs before the SC version are available. When we get the shipment I will post specs.

BFL informed me that Inaba offers storing mini rigs in Kansas City to wait for upgrade, but the gave me a wrong email :-( [a wrong domain name].

This offer is not very convincing :-) I would probably by more if I don't have to wait for the shipment. The mini rig generates an income = mini rig cost in ca. 6-8 months ? So If I don't have to wait for the shipment 4 months it is worth 50% of the mini rig price :-)

BFL is coming out with an ASIC product and if you don't double down (trade in your FPGA mini rig and drop another $15k), your 25Gh 50lb box will be good for, well, to prop open doors with. Their stated delivery date is late October which means if they deliver even a month late, or 6-8 month payback timeframe is longer than when the difficulty will double or triple and the block rewards halves.

My offer is meant to help those who do not have the ability to drop another 15k to upgrade to ASIC or otherwise would like to recoup their investment before ASIC arrives.

The BFL trade-in offer expires in 1Q 2013, so You are unlikely to buy mini rigs with Your offer before ASIC is available.
I don't believe in the October deadline that much ... but the problem is that BFL did not reply yet to my question how the SC queue is handled.
The only fair way to handle the SC queue is by taking into account not the mini rig delivery or order date but the date of payment for the SC purchase / upgrade.
=> So there is no point to buy / sell  mini rigs now from the point of view of the SC queue.

If You want the SC version fast You should pre-order the SC version now ! You will pay exactly the same amount :-)

I don't think people who ordered $15k equipment are dumb enough to fall for this "I will buy your queue". BFL has stated that before the MiniRig ships, the customer will be contacted and offered to exchange the MiniRig funds for SC Singles of equivalent value, so anyone selling the FPGA MiniRig queue is then forced to place a new order for the SC Singles which means he goes right to the back of the queue.
And with SC singles worth $15000 coming close to 400GH/s, queue here is worth more than the FPGA MiniRig will produce from now until October.

So people, don't fall for this "I will buy your queue scam"

Why is it a scam? Potentially, only the buyer loses out, but it all depends on when SC actually ships.

It is the SCAM because the sooner in the queue you receive the ASIC the more money you make. Buy selling your queue you miss that opportunity.

But that is assuming on top of assuming on top of more assuming....

This whole situation smells like my daughters diapers. The sheer number of future variables means you really cannot possibly accurately figure out what is going to happen in 3-4 months time.

And that means that there will be losers in the big gamble. :(

Why would someone trading in a non-SC rig get a higher place in the queue than someone who pays outright? ??? They would be at the end, same as with a new order.
He's buying queue places for NON-SC rigs.

The SC release is supposed to happen once there is an actual inventory built of all products.  I suspect this to be well into November and maybe December...

It seems BFL does appreciate that shipping these as they are built (namely Mini Rig SC) would grossly favor certain individuals so they need to release once some amount (lord knows what that amount is) is in inventory.

Didn't BFL mention, i.e if they make 100SC ready to ship:

1/3 will go to fill new orders queue
1/3 will go to fill FPGA-ASIC exchange orders queue
1/3 will go to fill exchange queue, for people who pre-ordered FPGA but never took delivery

As you see there actually 3 queues.

Thus if you refuse the delivery of MiniRig FPGA and transfer the funds to ASIC, you are much higher up the queue then if you sell the queue and place a fresh order.

Is there any official statement of BFL on the queue ? I could not find anything.

I don't worry about the position in the queue. When ASICs arrive the mining situation will be unpredictable anyway. I can jump in later :-)
I will use the time until then and enjoy the noise of the already almost obsolete mini rig :-)

Hash rate as expected? power consumption as expected? No broken components? All fans running? unbelievable :-) I can not wait to get ours :-)

BTW, does anybody know anything about the ASIC chips that BFL will use [technology,specs,current development status,production status] ?

The actual performance is overdelivered. Instead of 50,8Ghs, I got around 52Ghs. Consumption is unknown, but Gigavps (or someone else) I believe already tested it, which is less than expected. We're testing different pools now, probably will stick to some local pool or will go solo, as even 0.7% on 2 rigs is about 6-7btc/month of loss.

If I am right, 50GH is about 20 getwork requests per second. for some reason my bitcoind client hangs sometime for more than a second. I hope this does not cause more damage than the 1-2% pool mining fee.

I have an order confirmation on 17 April 2012, I am waiting for them to contact me and offer exchange to ASIC as I don't want it to ship. I wonder why they have shipped 21st April orders and not contacted me yet ?

Send an e-mail and start by saying "Hi Jody & Andria" then explain your situation since these are the two who catch it soon enough.  Resend it once per day.  They are swamped as fuck with e-mails.  They will eventually see yours and address the urgency.  I got put to the top of Jody's "important" list and that still only lets me talk to her once every 4-7 days.  But they will get back to you if persistent.

Because the shipment is 50 pounds they should contact you before shipping anyway.  Every person who ordered a mini-rig sounds like they're getting contacted by phone before it goes out the door.

ice_chill, the queue is fair. The first orders are conversions from a larger equipment to two mini-rigs. These were probably ordered before our single mini rig orders. I will contact them if they fail the next deadline [2012-09-02]. I see little point in bugging them with emails, because You know what will be in the reply letter anyway [ ... your order is on schedule ... ]. You could request Your order number though and check if it is below 20 [my order number].

Also, I would take the mini rig. You can make some BTC with it before somebody comes up with an ASIC and sells it (right now it makes no sens to sell because You can earn the whole ASIC development and production costs in one month of mining).

I don't want the MiniRig because I will have to pay non refundable 20% import tax, and won't have another $15k to upgrade to SC MiniRig.
I will contact them to see what order number my MiniRig is at.

I am happy to take the mini rig and pay the import tax in Poland at our Institute (http://bioinfo.pl). I can send it back to BFL when You decide You want to exchange it for the SC equipment. But You will probably find alternative offers from people who can host it. Maybe even BFL can host it. In fact I would be interested to make a deal with BFL to keep the obsolete FPGA equipment in our Institute because I can use the FPGA boards for bioinformatics applications later [we plan to do this].

Don't they already have something worked out with Inaba for local colocation?

Good idea, I do have a feeling that BFL want them for another endeavor as well. Wouldnt that be hard also when the hardware is so closed ? I mean the LX150 outnumbers the BFLs chips quite a lot and also a much more open platform. But maybe BFL will open up therir platform later on, would be nice. If your like maybe we should start another thread regarding bioinformatics on FPGAs.

Start the thread and send a link. I am a junior member as well and I am not too familiar with this forum :-). Several people produce FPGA based solutions for mining. They should be interested in potential future applications. We have developed bioinformatics tools, but I had problems to port anything to FPGA (I even failed with the placement and routing in Xilinx ISE of the currently standard unrolled BTC mining pipeline despite trying lots of W updates and many detailed area constrains in the UCF files :-). So more experienced FPGA programmers would help a lot :-). There are some FPGA based bioinformatics products, for example Smith Waterman on Sciengines [http://www.sciengines.com/products/computers-and-clusters/rivyera-s6-lx150.html]. There are few other ideas we could discuss but I believe this will be interesting when ASICs arrive :-)
BFL seems to use Altera and these chips are apparently easier to "program". I am sure BFL will release the specs of the Rigs when they become "obsolete". But of course LX150 is a more popular platform and thus better for development.

Yes, I am hosting them locally.  There is a thread with the details somewhere.  The cost is $300 per month, per rig for hosting.  Any shipping you've paid to BFL can be applied to your hosting costs.

Wow, Inaba, that's quite a deal.  You can't be making much on each mini-rig after electricity and air conditioning costs.  Now I kind of wish I'd asked you to host mine!  Oh well...At least I get to physically see and touch them.

Hey all, posting to notify that I have received a tracking number for my 2 from BFL. The tracking number says they'll be here on the 31st, but while FedEx has never been wrong (for me anyway; I order a loooot of things online), I'll post again when I have them in my hands.

I did not, and also thought that was a bit weird, since Giga's pictures also show a non-fedex shipment. There must be some logistics thing involved with their decision.

I guess it might have to do with whether the freight companies they deal with operate in your city.  The one they used to ship mine had a facility about 3 miles from where I live.

FedEx also does freight at competitive prices.

I paid $30k for my Rig Box (ultimately, 2 mini-rigs) up front with a bankwire transfer.  I then received my mini-rigs about 4 months later.  The wait was agonizing, but well worth it.

My mini-rig was ready to ship today (!!!) and I decided to have Inaba host it.  Inaba was super responsive and should be a great addition to the BFL team.

However, 1 1/2 weeks ago I received an email asking me whether I want it converted into a SC miniRig, hosted by Inaba or delivered.

This is pretty shady.  I didn't bribe anyone though, just agreed to pay the $300/month which I think is very reasonable :)  However, Inaba hasn't actually picked it up yet and set it up for mining, so I could be in the same situation as you guys.  Hopefully BFL has the hardware they claim to have ready.

I only hope they did not run out of their secret chips :-)

As of right now, I am in the same boat you guys are.  I pick up the rigs when BFL tells me they are ready.  There is no back room deals or anything unusual going on.  I have no pull or sway beyond what anyone else does as far as rig delivery goes.  Hell, I'm still waiting on *my* rigs to be ready.  If there was any line jumping, you can be sure it would be to get my rigs mining.

If my doctor tells me on Monday, after viewing the ultrasound images and blood work done on Friday, that I have terminal liver cancer or something in that ballpark, the miniRig is of no use to me, and I can sell it to you for what I paid for it.
(I'm not kidding - I wouldn't be kidding about topics such as this one.)

Of course, I sincerely hope that the tests show that I do not have any kind of cancer, and no liver cirrhosis, either.

I'm happy to say that both the blood test and the ultrasound images did not show anything wrong with my liver.
The excruciating abdominal pain  :'(  when coughing, which I experienced on Friday, remains unexplained, however.
Today, the pain was less severe - but not completely gone, either.

My miniRig is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Tuesday).
Today, AT&T installed a Uverse line in my third mining office, which will be dedicated to the miniRig.
(My other two mining offices contain 10 BFL singles, each, but about 2 months from now, they will host 12 and 13 Singles, respectively.
Once I have traded the 25 Singles and the FPGA miniRig for two ASIC rigs, I will go back to renting only one or two offices, most likely two.)

Plug in to USB, install and run cgminer, shouldn't be any more complicated than that.

Three weeks ago (there may be an updated version out now?), the auto-tune package hosed about 10 of the FPGAs in my two rigs.  Sonny sent me two firmware packages to load manually, which fixed the issue.  I also found that updating the firmware on one FPGA while the rest are mining almost always resulted in a bad firmware update, requiring me to do it over several times until I realized what was wrong.

What I did in the end was to use EasyMiner to view the properties of each FPGA and identify which ones were using the 1320 MH/s firmware.  I updated each of them to use the 1500 MH/s firmware and then mined with them for a while to see if errors showed up.  All but one had a 20%+ error rate, so I flashed them back to the 1320 MH/s firmware.

The Mini-Rig FPGAs don't throttle when there are errors, so I guess it was worthwhile since I got one running at 1500 MH/s with only a 2% error rate in exchange for a 13% speed increase.

I use cgminer but have little experience with this sa far and have problems with the interpretation of the output.

I see that:
- there are 19 devices ???
- the devices that report higher hash rate (MH/s) have few accepted shares (A:...) and low utility (U:...)
- there are no hardware (HW:0) errors

... to see this in easyminer I would have to connect it to a windows machine :-(

This is just a few minutes after start. Keep it running for at least 1 hour, then make a screenshot =). I've got 1 box with 19 units too btw.

This is because one MiniRig is actually 20 (+/- 1) Next generation Singles (which probably won't ever be sold individually).

Both of mine have 18, but each one hashes at the advertised speed.

The number of modules has been reported anywhere from 17 to 20, and it seems that some are slower than expected so more are added to make sure the device as a whole performs as advertised.

That's correct, rjk.  I've not seen a 20 unit rig yet, but there are 17 - 19 unit rigs shipping currently.

after downgrading to 1300MH/s all modules perform as expected. The hashrate reported by cgminer did not change much but the hash rate reported by the pool increased :-) In other words the "U" value is very important (something like "luck-rate" which should be ~ 100% [see slush pool / ztex driver] is missing in the statistics). I guess the 1500MH/s firmware causes the device to miss many shares (50%-80%) without reporting hardware problems.

I also have to admit that with "-S auto" I did detect 2 more devices (not shown) but these had communication problems, very low hashrate  and 100 times smaller utility (U) than the other devices, so I don't use them. I was not able to detect them with easyminer.

So, this is your unit?  I guess the list needs to be updated.

Just trying to figure out the timeline.

U:344.2/m (found shares per minute) seems to be the important number. divided by seconds in a minute (/60) multiplied by the number of hashes needed to find a share (*2^32) and converted into Giga (/10^9) I get a hashrate of 24.6 GH/s. This is slightly below the advertised speed but still acceptable.

Please run it for a longer period [10-30 min:-)] and show the result. Now Your 1.5GH/s unit has lower output than the other 1.3GH/s units. the total U: (right top, 346.6 => 24.8GH/s in my case) is the most valuable parameter.

I don't need to run it longer when units are showing a U of ~1.  Something is wrong.  I have seen it before and confirmed it with Sonny - the reason he sent me the "good" 1320 FW.  The FW is specifically the 1320 FW from the auto-tune package.  This is NOT the same FW that the units are shipping with...

With respect to the 1500 unit with a slightly lower U - yes - over a 60-90 minute duration it foxes itself.  In that instance we are talking a ~2% difference.  With the borked 1320 units it was 50% and worse.

Current U is 350.4 after running about 8 hours.

I was only wondering about the performance of the 1500 unit and whether it make sense in my case to test if any of my units could run at this speed.
In any case Your total 350.4 shares/m (25.1GH/s) is a good result.

Don't close it. It is still interesting to know that somebody received a Mini Rig. This means that SCs are not shipped yet.

They could PM me and I could update the list and bump the thread still.

Grats! :)  I know what that excitement feels like.  I asked BFL for the name of the freight company.  After Googling their contact info, I was able to go pick up my mini-rigs at the freight facility about 5 hours before they would have been delivered.

I did the same and saved 2 days :-) after answering a buch of strange apparently obligatory questions about the cryptic abilities of the the rig it cleared customs at an airport in the evening before a holiday 300km from the final destination (another city). it is still 300km away but mining :-)

Would it be possible for you guys to post photos of the rigs you receive so other people can see its real ?

There are a lot of people with few posts saying that they received the rigs, but i don't know if they can be trusted. I'm just saying...

Well, they were supposed to use a sata cable PCB connector instead of USB hubs to connect the boards together. The LCD on the front of the rig also doesn't work. :(

Ahhh.  Well, those are planned ideas that didn't work out, which are ok by me.  I can't see the panel anyway.  :)

Wonder what the SC will have. 

BFL Really needs to learn how to package things a bit better, and some threadlock wouldn't hurt either... three of the boards in mine were totally loose and floating around the case half way across the country. I was really surprised when I reassembled the thing and all 20 boards showed up and mined as they should. Yes, 20 boards :D

The USB hubs and mess of wires inside are pretty funny, and really shows the small-business side of BFL haha.

I personally don't mind the cables. It shows that BFL was under extreme time pressure and I am happy to get an unfinished product sooner in this particular case/race.

Even though I was never listed in the list properly, i ordered my minirig 8/3 and received it yesterday, 9/21 when it went live in josh's kc datacenter.

BTW, I am just loosing one of 19 units in the rig. There are 2 10-port USB hubs in the box that have a power plug but are not powered. I did not have problems with the rig 1 month ago but now I was not able to upload any firmware on few units ... after putting some load on the USB (uploading firmware) the USBs die, the easy miner crashes and the PC discovers the units under new IDs again. To upload the firmware I had to disconnect other units from the USB, connect only one unit to the PC and upload the firmware.
After 2 days of operation one unit disappeared again. We will probably have to add external 5V power to the hub or modify the cables that go to the fake front panel display to provide power from the power supply to the USB hubs [the hub with 9 units handles the load if only one rig is on the PC, but the 10-units hub starts having problems]. I hope the rig will be still fit for ASIC replacement :-)

I was wrong, it wasn't 8/6 it was 8/3.  So maybe they didn't tell everyone that they weren't building anymore minirigs, and someone took my order, but someone else said no to your order... ???

and, Josh didn't actually work for them on 8/3...
