Title: What's wrong with me - always tired
Post by: iluvbitcoins on July 06, 2015, 12:25:48 PM
I have no idea what's wrong with me, I finished high school around a month and a half ago, I used to sleep 6 hours a night and I felt good, I could do things, I could think

I guess my body tried to recover the sleep debt, I now sleep almost 10 hours/day and when I wake up I feel tired as fuck, like I didn't sleep at all
I just want to sleep more

It's okay I guess, I can handle the tiredness, but my brain stopped functioning properly, it's like I'm losing cognitive ability
When someone tells me something, if I don't do it instantly, chances are 99.9% I will forget about it

I can't think properly, I can really feel like I'm dumber then I was 3 months ago

Why is this so, what's going on with me  ???

Maybe you have depression or chronic fatigue or something. Try eating better, getting more sunlight and exercising. IF those don't work go see your doctor but they'll probably just give you some crappy pills.

6 hours is not enough sleep for the most people.

10 hours should be enough but when you still feeling tired, you should go to a doctor.

(and stop taking drugs  :P )

Personally, before going to the doctor, I'd take a look at what I was eating, like Hot Carl suggested. (Who refers to themselves at Hot Carl anyway?)

Specifically, you want to make sure your body is getting enough nutrients. Are you eating fruits and vegetables?

Are you eating lots of processed foods? As a rule of thumb, the fewer ingredients you see on the packaging, the better, and if there is a bunch of stuff that you can't even pronounce, you probably want to take a pass.

You might also consider downloading an app like MyFitnessPal to track your daily consumption. It might be that you're eating too few calories.

Also, you might check out the movie Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead (about a juicing diet). The maker also made a followup movie to that with some realistic long-terms results and afterthoughts, but I can't think of the name off the top of my head.

You might also want to look into green smoothies.

It may well be that something else besides nutrition is going on, but unless you're having serious symptoms, it's probably best to focus on giving your body the best fuel it can get before going to a doctor. More often than not, they'll just write your a prescription for some drug that a company incentivized them to prescribe.

I would have to say your probably getting too much sleep.  Try to get around 7 to 8 hours a night.  Also go out and exercise.  I am not ashamed to admit that I have really let myself go and got to the point where getting out of bed was a chore.  But, by implementing a healthy lifestyle by eating right, getting the right amount of sleep, and going for a run/walk/swim everyday I am feeling better and really turning things back around.

If problems are persisting, then go see a doctor, but make a conscience effort to do some exercise and healthy eating and I can almost guarantee you will see a difference.

You could have a vitamin d deficiency as that can lead to tiredness and fatigue, but to rule things out you'll need to go have some tests done.

I'm assuming it's a reference to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Karl_%28slang%29

It was referenced on South Park one time and that's where I heard it.

So many things are possible

Sleep environment (sounds, lights, comfort interrupting REM)
Too much sleep
Vitamin D deficiency
Iron deficiency
Overweight
Sleep apnea (people who are in good physical health condition can have as well, not just overweight)
General diet

I'm not a doctor but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I'd recommend seeing a doctor though.

So, I seriously hit my car today!

I was looking back! And I hit a bench

I want to slap my self in the face, how am I so stupid..

Wtf, I'm so angry

My dad's going to kill me when he sees the car :(
*decided not to lie, I wrote what happened*

And the bench was not visible from the point I looked from but still..

I need to seriously do something about this, it's getting out of hand

(and stop taking drugs  :P )

I'm not taking any, never tried at all :D

you should go to a doctor.

Only right answer.

Doctors here won't be at any help

Vinkovci medics suck, big time
My mom had trouble and was going to a doctor for a couple of years
He told her she had hypochondria!
When she went to Zagreb, they discovered she has celiac disease.
She came back and told him that she had celiac
He asked and I quote "What is that"
So the guy who is supposed to cure you, doesn't know the name od the disease he is supposed to cure

Seriously
That's not the only example
When she was pregnant they told her she wasn't pregnant
But it was during the war, and the doctor was Serbian, so it might have been something racist
But I'm not going that far, I think it was neglegence, rather then intentional harm

I will try to, I was thinking that too much sleep is causing it
And since school ended, I barely walk anywhere
I used to walk 4km every day
Now maybe a 100m on average

This might be it
The vitamin D deficiency, I'm not exposed to sunlight, I stopped eating eggs because they don't sit on me well
I don't exercise, thank you guys, I'll try working on this as soon as possible

Overweight

185 cm and 65 kg :D

Do a sleep study at a hospital, only way to find out.

Have you had any sleep paralysis?

Are you sexually active? Sex has a lot of benefits and could help you with the tardiness you have. Just a suggestion though. And maybe you need to see a doctor. It would be helpful as they can recommend you various types of meds you need or vitamins.

physcologically, if a man sleeps a lot, he's hiding/burried a lot of sorrows on him (my teacher told me).

And of course, me too sleep ~12 hrs a day because of laziness, not because of i've lot of sorrows :P

It could be sleep apnea.  What happens is that during sleep you don't breathe for several seconds to minutes or you take very shallow breaths.  The carbon dioxide builds up in your blood and triggers a chemical response to wake you up so you will breathe properly.  It happens many, many times during the night so you don't get a proper sleep (or any sleep really) and you will feel tired all the time.  It can lead to the symptoms you describe due to the mounting sleep debt.

If you snore while sleeping, in all likelihood you have obstructive sleep apnea (this is the most common type but there are other forms of sleep apnea).  I have obstructive sleep apnea and I was experiencing similar symptoms to yours.  I now wear a mouthpiece, when I sleep, that keeps my lower jaw lifted slightly to prevent airway obstruction and it made a big difference.  That device is referred to as a mandibular advancement splint; it fits over your teeth and can be made for you by any dentist.  It cost about the price of a decent video card.   There is also a device called a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine you can get that will breathe for you when you don't.  It is quite expensive and difficult to get used to (I am told).

I would check into the physical nature of your problem before delving into the psychological.  Sleep apnea is pretty common - it affects approx. 4% of the males and 2% of females.

 Good luck!

You might be a psychic vampire. When you were surrounded by people you could feed yourself pretty easily and have an OK living, but now you don't have lots of people around so you are starving. Some people are but they don't know about it.

Try with some energy boosters. You might also have to change your diet, more healthy food, like fruits an vegetables and do some exercise.

This would explain the lack of vitamin D too. I'm not sure if sunlight will make you feel better though.

That is a good one, unlikely but something to think about OP as it does make sense! Look it up and see if you have anymore of the symptoms that match as there is quite a few from when I had a weird spiritual happening and many symptoms that did come up on my search of always being tiered, the most likely reason is that you are having to much sleep and not doing enough exercise or eating well enough.

A friend of mine did notice I snored during the night
I have never snored in my life so far

I have also heard my sister snoring recently, she has never snored before too o.O
Could it be something in the air?

And I didn't mention I don't have trouble falling asleep
I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow

Do a sleep study at a hospital, only way to find out.

Have you had any sleep paralysis?

Not recently

But when I used to sleep good, I had sleep paralysis a couple of times

Hello there, the thread tittle made me curious. That's because I've encountered the same problem about 3-4 years ago, and it really bothered me.
Whenever I came home from doing minor work, or going somewhere for a few hours I'd be very tired. I was so tired that actually doing something was terribly hard even though I was fighting it.
However, I don't remember the impact on my brain as there was most likely none.

I don't recommend going to the doctor and trying to solve it on your own. This is because you've already stated where you're from and that the health care there isn't good. I'm not exactly sure what solved it for me, and there most likely won't be a instant solution for you either. Back then I've changed from no training at all to training 20 hours per week and with training comes a good diet (healthy meat, fish, vitamins, fruit, certain vegetables). I'm pretty sure that this is most likely going to fix your condition unless it is something more serious (which I doubt since you haven't described any other symptoms).

The problem is that humans were designed to move (not necessarily train, but just move). I'm assuming that you're spending a lot of time sitting on your computer and whatnot (just as I am right now), correct?. This is actually very dangerous in the long term, especially for office workers.

Seems like it's about the room temperature

It was around 30C (my room is upstairs), so it's pretty hot

As soon as it rained a few days ago and the temp fell to around 25C, I slept awesome!

I slept only 7 hours but I woke up refreshed, I finally felt like I actually slept

And I dreamed

Ohh, how good it was to dream again :D

Though, I'm going to have trouble keeping the room cool

It's hot as fuck, just keeping the windows open at night, won't be enough

And I don't have air conditioning

You can make your own AC if you like to tinker a bit. The easiest way is to visit a scrap yard and rip it out of an old car or make an old fridge into one.
Buying a cheap humidifier could also help.

Hit the gym. It helps a lot. It should boost up you testosterone level a bit and get you more energetic. That's the first thing to do before reaching for any medicines etc.
Also try to manage your sleep time, just set an alarm clock and get your ass up. You don't need more than 8 hours sleep after the normal day.

For me it takes a good diet, regular exercise, HYDRATION, and a lot of times you just need a few minutes to unwind from the days stresses before trying to sleep.  These things should lead to better rest where you wake up feeling more refreshed.  Still you may need to take multi vitamins, and B12 or something which may help you energy levels. I do, and I like to think I stay in pretty good shape, but still struggle with fatigue on occasion.

I'm extremely tired every other day. I got used to it.
I think these feelings are normal, and you shouldn't worry your self to much over them like Morecoin Freeman mentions which will cause even more tiredness, and drain your energy.  IMO it makes sense to be tired say toward the end of the week...If you are busy of course you will get worn out especially if you aren't sleeping well.

It could be sleep apnea.
I think this is a possibility too, which may need to be looked into if just changing your diet, and exercise routines.

Well, yes this could also be the cause of the issue. However, if you do feel strange when it is colder, that might be a sign of trouble. You should definitely still listen to some of the advice that was given here.
I can't blame you either. I'm not living a healthy lifestyle either, although we should all try to improve ourselves.

Morning sun has no correlation to the health. A person only needs a few minutes that are going to be enough for their vitamin D needs. In the times of extreme heat, prolonged exposure will actually make him feel worse.

I use to be like you at the same age, and my problem was:

1. I started to smoke cigs at VERY young age(11 years old) I was 18 when i finished the high school, I quiet smoking at 20 now I'm 25(best decissiion in my life... to quiet smoking)
2. Working too much at computer(I'm a coder, I start to learn to code at 14-15) I still have a job in 'coding' community, not a genius coder but I can handle even complicated task(I love what I do).
3. My sex life was somtimes worst sometimes very good in high school(AAaa yeah I losed my virginity same like starting cigs, very early and I can't believe I talk about that in public but hey maybe it will help u and that's matter). Even right now I don't have a gf but that doesn't meen I don't have a great sex life, I live in a poor country where girls are looking for money and to be a doggy for them and I know that so ... I don't sleep with girls which are involed in a relationship or married womens, I'm just looking for the girls which are looking for the same thing I'm looking... plus I don't have time for a bullshit things like 'love' ... where I live 'love' means money.
4. Try to eat more natural u can, if u eat fast food, stop, if u eat MC Donalds, stop, and so on... I'm 90% vegetarion from 20 and this is another best decission in my life) That's don't means it will work for u maybe u will feel better if u eat MC Donalds... who knows? Human body is an amazing machine.
5. If u don't do a sport, pick one, like I say human body is amazing... 5000 years ago we run and hunt animals right? U need to move your hands and your legs everyday, jogging, tennins I don't know just pick one! I run almost every day on the beach 10-15km from 20, try that... the girls are looking for guys which do a sport(see what I say at 3. :) )
6. Stop watching porn if u do that.
7. Try to sleep 6 and MAYBE 7 h per night, at your age u don't need more, very important, if u sleep 10 that's hanneping u feel tiered.
8. Stop be a naive, people these days are bad and if u trust them too much is it possible to f**k u when u even don't expected.
9. Don't ask god for help because there is not anybody in the sky, u are on your one.
10. Don't go to any doctor and don't take any pills for depression or whatever I do that and any of them fix my 'depression problem' or my 'tiered problem' whatever.
11. Don't worry to much what you will gona do in life, do what u love and if u work hard u will not fail and is much better than any other shitty job which society offer to you, Society is build by humans, and humans are hungy. The socity institutions don't care about u, they want to make u a retard if is possible and to work for them(shitty jobs).

I hope it will help u, don't go to any doctors unless you maybe suffer from something and u don't know but u have a little depression and if u go to them they will put pills in your mounth. Don't take my advices as good, maybe for u will not work but maybe will help u even a little and that all that matters.

Cigarettes have nothing to do with this, unless your body is really fragile. However, I do find a lot of nonsense in your post. So you're telling me that if he stops watching porn, he will stop being tired?  :D
There are some points that I do agree with to some extent. Eating better and exercising will help buthe needs more than 6 hours

actually not all people experiences the same side effects. for example some people gets headache and muscle pain because of smoking while others don't. you should try to stop smoking for some weeks and see if your condition improve.

Ok this might sound odd but maybe you are fapping too much? I knew this from my old ages i used to do that too when i was 18.

My opinion  is to eat more meat, and vitamins, and also eat some higher calory food.

If you got your testosterone levels high you will hardly feel tired again, just make sure you get your food straight.

you should go to a doctor.

Only right answer.
+1 , No one can actually diagnose your condition from just a post, You could be just tired or need a change in your life style or you could be in a need of medical attention, going to a doctor and explaining your complaint would be more useful IMO.

You don't or you do? I think a doctor is the best option here if he hasn't already been.

I don't smoke
I light 2-3 cigs on the weekends and that's it

If you actually breathe the particulates of the cigarettes you light, then you DO smoke. Quit.

can really such small amounts have an impact?

I mean there are people who smoke 3 packs a day and they do fine xD

Can a biochemist please explain how nicotine works, thanks.

Nicotine is probably the least of his worries with the amount of other crap that is in cigarettes.

Personally, before going to the doctor, I'd take a look at what I was eating, like Hot Carl suggested. (Who refers to themselves at Hot Carl anyway?)

I do lol.

This is a common misconception for people who do not smoke everyday. You look at someone who has smoked 2-3 packs a day for 20-30 years or more and they're fine. This doesn't mean that if you smoke 2 or 3 times less than them that there is no effect. It really comes down to each individual body. Nicotine can be compared to coffee. Even if you drink only one it is already having a effect, and the same goes for cigarettes.
OP if you do not want to completely stop I suggest looking up Vape Pens (no, not e-cigs; they're different) and switching to those. A study has found that:"The levels of the toxicants were 9–450 times lower than in cigarette smoke and were, in many cases, comparable with trace amounts found in the reference product" (http://tobaccocontrol.bmj.com/content/early/2013/03/05/tobaccocontrol-2012-050859.short). This doesn't mean that they are completely safe, however you can get ones with low to zero nicotine levels.

Update:
You don't or you do? I think a doctor is the best option here if he hasn't already been.
Unless OP is experiencing other, more serious symptoms, I do not recommend it. I've done this in the past once due to some other condition. Depending on the healthcare system in his country, they will probably run a general examination (lots of tests), where he might end up paying for some. The tests will most likely all be within an acceptable margin. Besides, OP already stated that he is feeling better.

I guess I was transported to an alternate universe where nicotine isn't addictive at all to anyone, then. Bye.

Some are more susceptible to nicotine's addictive nature than others.  In particular, the adolescent brain is more sensitive to the effects of nicotine and therefore more susceptible to its addictive properties.  I don't think you will find a definitive answer on how many cigarettes you have to smoke to become addicted to nicotine.

Have you tried e-cigarettes?  You can get the nicotine without all the other nasty chemicals in the cigarette smoke.

Who said that? Of course that he is. As I've already stated, if he smokes a single one then the effect is already there.
Essentially through time there will be more and more cravings on a daily basis. He must be either able to resist them all or he will slowly start smoking more and more often.

Too much caffeine?

I eliminated that (besides decaf coffee & rootbeer) nearly 3 years ago and have tons more energy than when I was drinking coffee through the day + energy drinks + diet coke. Tons more energy amazingly!

Running & sex help too. = Endorphines

Quitting caffeine will cause withdrawal symptoms similar to what you are currently experiencing (fatigue and an inability to concentrate) but those would be temporary (about 10 days).   I don't imagine giving up coffee will give you "tons more energy".  You'd probably be further ahead to quit all forms of artificial light after dinner (including your smart phone and computer monitor) and keep regular hours.

Decaf still has some caffeine in it but less than 10% of full strength.
If you try it do half decaf / half regular for a couple days. When I did it, on the 2nd day I felt like I could fall asleep walking. Seriously! Then by the 3rd day I was fine and moved to straight decaf. I probably drink 2 cups a day still, but it's nothing compared to 2-3 cups full strength coffee... or tea.

Caffeine is actually a downer not an upper. So it ultimately makes you more tired vs more wired.

anyways. try to take some vitamins, eat more healthy food and exercise to normalize your activity.

You're right, it's a stimulant.

I was talking "ultimately" or "in the end" (of a buzz) it can make your depressed or sluggish. Caffeine is a drug and taken in large doses it can sometimes have the opposite effect on a body because your body goes into fight or flight mode and counteracts the drug.

So you're talking about withdrawal symptoms then.  In large doses it can kill you and that would be the ultimate downer.

Indeed.
It's funny how caffeine can be found in nearly every store and product, but other drugs can't... in fact are deemed illegal by the man.

Have you seen this study on web building spiders on different drugs? http://www.badspiderbites.com/spiders-on-drugs/

The caffeine web is by far the most fubar. lol.

Like you said in earlier days of your school you didn't feel tired but now you do. so it's because now your body is just not active and you sleep 10 hrs that's the reason of your tiredness.
Excercise and don't sleep more then 8 hrs and everything will be fine.

Yes, its not just you lose tons of minerals by doing it, it also releases hormones that make you soft and with less energy.

If done for a prolonged time it can alter the structure of your body and make you like a zombie.

Make sure you have a solid routine, for ex. 10PM go and brush your teeth, go to the toilet and do something your brain can relax on (ie. watching TV, reading a book, no games or big brain activities)
Go to sleep, don't have any music or TV running as that will disturb your sleep, and set an alarm for about 8 1/2 hours sleep, oversleeping can make you feel tired, and when you wake up take a deep breath and have a glass of water and if you feel groggy get in the shower, after a couple days your body will be prepard for it and at 10pm you'll feel tired and after about a week you'll wake up before the alarm

Be kind to your body - It’s easy to get into a vicious cycle when you’re busy: You don’t take the time to eat or sleep properly, which makes you more tired and less effective/efficient, so you have even less time to eat and sleep well, so you’re more tired and even less effective/efficient…You get the picture.  Whenever you’re tempted to throw your own body under the bus of your crazy schedule – stop. Just for today, have a simple, healthy, delicious meal (not fast food, not from the vending machines at work, not out of a bag or a box), and go to bed at a reasonable hour. Things may look very different in the morning.

Practice ‘good mental hygiene’ - This was a favorite phrase of my mom’s, meaning ‘don’t indulge in unnecessarily negative thinking.’  For instance, if you find yourself thinking, “I’ll never get out from under all of this – nobody will help me,” challenge that with more hopeful – but still realistic – thinking.  Maybe something like, “ This is a really intense week – I need to focus on the most important things, and see if I can get some help from Susan.” We can actually manage our thoughts to a much greater extent than we usually do – and it can have a hugely positive impact.

Cultivate supporters. We all know that there are some people who make our lives harder, and some who make it easier and better.  Sadly, you can’t always avoid the former – but you can spend as much time as possible with the latter. Indulge in and appreciate the joy of being with people who support and trust you, who enrich your life and make it more joyful.  And if you don’t now have such people in your life  - find some.

Find time for pleasure.  Five minutes of pure fun or joy in the midst of a grind can be astonishingly rejuvenating.  One piece of dark chocolate, thoroughly savored, at 3pm on a grueling day; a full-on belly laugh half-way through a long, tough meeting; looking out the window at a beautiful spring tree and just breathing for a minute, right after getting off a particularly harrowing phone call – these can feel life-saving.

Limit complaining.  Complaining is like smoking: it may feel great while you’re doing it, but  it’s really destructive long-term. Have you ever noticed that the people who kvetch the most are the most dissatisfied, sour and unhappy-looking people? Complaining doesn’t solve anything, and it ties up all your energy into resentment and self-righteousness.  If you notice yourself spending more than, say, 5% of your time talking about how bad things are or how other people are screwing up or making your life a living hell – you might want to head yourself down a more constructive path, like figuring out how to make things better. Complaining is a hard habit to break, but it’s worth doing – it can be a real energy-booster (for you and everyone around you).

Rest your brain. Stop thinking for a few minutes. If you know how to meditate, do that.  If not, just observe your breathing.  I was waiting in line at Starbucks SBUX -1.67% the other day, thinking about the seven zillion things I needed to do before the day was over, and then I just decided to stop revving my mental engine.  I stood there, feeling my breath go in and out: my whole body relaxed, I noticed that I was alive and healthy, I felt happy. I got back to the office refreshed and ready to go.

Call time out.  When little kids get too wound up to be reasonable, you give them a time out.  It allows them to calm down, disconnect from whatever is freaking them out, and then do what’s needed (apologize, or give their friend’s toy back, or clean up their room.) As an adult, you can also give yourself a time out: whenever you feel yourself getting too wound up, frazzled, unreasonable, angry, confused – just take a break.  Excuse yourself; find someplace private (even a bathroom); take a few minutes to cry, or yell, or breathe deeply, or do nothing.  Once you feel a little more normal, come back.  It works for four-year-olds, and it works for us.

Give something.  When we’re stressed, we tend to get over-focused on ourselves; it’s like getting caught in a negative energy vortex.  Things aren’t working; we start worrying about it; we think less clearly; things work less well; we get more scared and anxious; we feel more stressed…suddenly all we can think about is what’s happening with us.  Sometimes the best way to break out of the cycle is to focus on giving of ourselves to someone else. Listen to your child; spend an hour at a homeless shelter; help someone at work who’s overwhelmed; walk a neighbor’s dog. It can be a difficult shift to make – it takes real effort – but doing so can have a quite remarkable impact on your energy and enthusiasm.

Be grateful. Some days, everything seems bad. You’re exhausted, your boss is not at all pleased, your spouse is grumpy, your baby comes down with a cold, and you forgot to pay the electric bill. Thoroughly awful. Counter-intuitively, one of the most powerful ways to re-energize yourself on an awful day is to remind yourself of just one thing in your life that is wonderful.  Your baby, though crabby and drippy, is the light of your life. Your boss, though unhappy with you today, is actually a great guy.  You may have forgotten to pay the electric bill, but you love your cozy, charming house – and you did pay the mortgage. Research shows that gratitude has all kinds of health benefits, including stress reduction. You just have to bring to mind and acknowledge the positive aspects of your life that exist even on horrific days.

Taking any of these steps when you’re stressed, tired and/or overworked can be a challenge. But it is possible…and the more you do it, the easier it gets.

Be kind to your body! I like this advice.
It sounds like such a simple and common sense advice, yet so few of us are able to follow through with it.

Perhaps your body is so used to this strenuous and rigid schedule. It's adjusting now to slow down because you are not going to school everyday anymore..

Why is this so, what's going on with me  ???

i share with you same problem but i consulted a doc he said i should take vitamin b pills .. i have been taking them for4 months .. it really works.. maybe you can try this..

Its totally from your over sleeping . My brother always over sleep then he got headache a lot.

When we are supposed to sleep not more than 8 hours , our body are should maintain it because it can shock or over tired if you sleep a lot

Yea that could actually be it. Imbalance. Too much rest can actually make you feel tired. Work out and rest.
