Lol I thought we all think the same way like buying Bitcoin when it is cheaper and selling it when it is expensive, I would suggest to to go for more BTC during second quarter of 2016 and buy as much as BTC you can and then wait till December to see the profit it will be unbelievable.

If you have BTC, then HODL. Don't sell any coins.
If you have cash, don't buy, wait for price to fall.

I would rather keep bitcoin. Before the halving, there might be some pumps. I will wait and see a good chance to sell them before having.

Normally I like to buy Bitcoins but with the current stable price which is higher than before I rather don't buy but again the halving is in the corner so this might be an exception of buying Bitcoins, even in it's current high value and hope for the best for the price to spike up after the halving.

Buying because right now the bullish trend is very strong.

I stopped selling since few months now , so it's time to HODL . However sometimes I do some transactions and people can't pay me with Bitcoin so they pay me with something alternative like (Paypal , Skrill etc ... ) then I use those funds to buy bitcoin (I don't really care how much the price of bitcoin is when I do that) .
Now for my predictions , we are 10 days away from the new year and I don't think we will reach 500$ by then but I'm still optimist for 2016 since there is OpenBazaar project going to launch and also the halving block reward .

i prefer that other buy while i'm earning directly and hold my amount :D

joek aside, the rich should buy and increase the price the poor wait for the right time to use or sell if they can't use bitcoin directly

It's the right time to hold. If you don't have any coins at this point, then definitely buy some! People who sell right now, take small profits compared to the long term growth that we can achieve. Don't wait any longer and buy buy buy!!

I still keep most and will buy and sell when Christmas arrives or the end of the year, because I am sure there will be a surge in the price

I always buy and mine bitcoins. I never sold any. I just use the bitcoin. I buy things with bitcoin.

If I had 10 Bitcoins I will just hold all of that for me I prefer both. I can buy just little amounts every month.
When I sell I can also make profit with it so is not that bad.
We for now I am just holding too, because I want to see what is going to happen in 2016.

I will not do anything if it don't move from this value. If it touch 500 by december i will sell half of my coin as we may see small drop , where i will buy back after that price may get accelerated towards new ath.

I don't buy or sell bitcoins at this moment.
I keep what i have and i hope the price will go up very much in the future. Maybe this will take 5 years or even more, but i have time to wait.
I'm however changing most of my other altcoins i have for BTC. I have more confidence in BTC than in most of the other coins.
I have already had several altcoins which all of a sudden seem to be dead and have no value anymore.

I just want to earn them this time. I'm trying to find a job that pays thru bitcoin. The mini job sites don't have much jobs listed on it though. If it has I might just not go into signature campaign by now. 

For the past two years the profit game has been SELL. There 's no reason this will change due to the nature of bitcoin.

So if you have btc then you say HODL, 'don't sell any' but if you have cash don't buy because you should wait for the price to fall? So I shouldn't sell 10btc now and wait for the price to fall and buy more than I started with? Why?

OP I prefer to buy and sell depending what my mood of the market is and am I bullish or bearish. I never just HODL and let them sit there with missed chances to increase them.

I see trading indicators that the bear market has shifted to bull market including 1W Ichimoku cloud, 1M MACD, volume, and Google Trends

For now neither, I'm holding at the moment. If I could afford to buy right now, I would.

Sell nor buy, though I gotta say I haven't much to sell at this point. I rather gain crypto via paid tasks and perhaps a bit of trading.

For 2016 I'd say the median price will gradually go up, no doubt there will be a number of significant spikes where those lucky and/or experienced enough can really gain on crypto and/or money. Bearish sentiment won't return for a while.

Right now I would rather just hold. I wouldn't get much profits out of selling right now. Buying or holding right now is the best way to go for now. Any price below $1000 is a good investment, you would still be able to get a big profit out of that if bitcoin reaches $1000 next year.

If you can already make some good profits of bitcoins right now, you could sell if you really need fiat. I'm just holding right now for the moment, if I would sell right now I wouldn't make as much profits.
Buying now wouldn't be the worst idea either. I would say best thing to do right now is to buy if you can and if you can't, to just hold for now.

I think the price has become stabilized. What happens now is another pump or investors losing patience and we see a dump coming.

Check the current market sentiment, it's almost predictable we will see a dump coming.

when the price was between $200-$300 then it was the right moment to buy. those who did are happy now. currently it's the perfect moment to hold.

I've hold bitcoin when the price under $420 and I am ready to sell when the price of $500, I hope we will soon go to $500 at Christmas

I am buying bitcoins now as the price is stable and I believe that after halving, it will most probably increase. I am trying to get as much bitcoins and sell them when the price reaches $500 atleast.

I also appeal and prefer to hold some big lot of bitcoins as bitcoins not having any major risk in it besides this having some awesome benefits like e-safety, price fluctuation and also much more than that. I also prefer to hold for some long time so that it will multiply in values in ten fold or more than that.

yeah after you bought at a cheaper rate, it's the so called buy low sell high nothing new, it works at every range of value

but this does not mean that we are not in bull market...,because holding always works and is without risk, bitcoin is not going to zero don't be naive

Depends on the strategy someone is having.If you're in for short, now it shows buying in wouldn't have been a good advice since we are goind down a bit.But if you're in for long (a few years) it doesn't matter and any time right now to buy is a good time I think.
Regarding 2016 I hope and believe to see a nice price increase.How much I don't know.But again I hope to see 2x by halving effect.

Same case for me as well. Even I use Hold the bitcoin when price is low and I use to sell the bitcoins When its reaches for high rates in the market. Now I am happy to sell the bitcoin because price going high day by day.

Yeah the price is going down now but I don't think it will last long as 2 months back, barely anyone could assure that the price would be $450 when it was $250. Selling all the bitcoins wouldn't be wise though and hence you can prefer selling a part of them as after halving, the price might increase.

That's not a good reason to sell. Smart people sell when they have made a nice profit. Mostly when the price is rising, then it is a good time to sell. If the price is dropping, then it's the right moment to buy. People that are in panic sell when the price is going down, smart people keep holding or even buy more to increase their coin count.

well it depends on the price that bitcoin is on usually i mostly like to buy as much bitcoins as possible for example now i also buy the bitcoins because the price is pretty small right now i believe that i will start selling only if the price would reach at least 10 thousand dollars each

If you want to buy, i would advise you to wait for a little more drop in price (if it happens), if not just hold on the funds you have.
Selling is not something that i would ever do, not by a long shot. I expect bitcoin to atleast cross 1000$ by the end of next year,
and when it does i'll analyse the exposure it will get after returning to ATH, and see if there will be a new bubble or continued support and growth.

I prefer to hold right now, if I could afford to buy I would. Hold right now and sell after a new ATH comes around.
That's what I'm going to do. I doubt the price will drop down to $200, that would be the best time to buy.

Right now I prefer to hold, it's not a high enough of a value for me to sell right now. I wouldn't make as much profits as I think I would if I wait a couple of months from now.
If anyone is able to buy I would say go for it. It may never go back down to $400.

I am not really a bitcoin trader, so I don't buy or sell bitcoin regularly. I just bought bitcoin when the price was around $100. I have been hodling since I bought them.

well its always nice to sell your bitcoins especially if you have bought it at the time that the price was lower than at the time you sell your coins though i more prefer to keep all of my bitcoins and only buy more not sell it as i believe that bitcoin price can grow more and more

I wouldn't pick either of them at the moment. I would just hold because I am scared to lose out on the good profits.
We'll see where the bitcoin price will take us next year, until next year at least, I will be holding.

Since bitcoin reach quite high now, I sold most of them and keep the rest for invesment.
Bitcoin also getting known since ISIS incident so it might affect bitcoin's value as well ( unexpected effect )

This is news then as you dint even sell when the price went upto $1000? Am just inquisitive to know when do you plan selling the coins and how many coins are you holding? If the amount is less, then it's understandable.

It is not that easy. We do not know if the present bitcoin price is low or high. It is difficult to take right actions.

People who have been holding since $100 see that Bitcoin has a lot potential. That's why they kept holding this long. And look, the holders are rewarded greatly. Holding is much better than selling for tiny profits.

i actually dont prefer any of those my main idea is to receive free bitcoins as much as possible and not use it anywhere i dont like selling it because i believe that its a great investment and that its price will go up and i dont like buying them because it requires my real money

Same way, I won't ask you to sell if you have some stack remaining on your hands, hodl them and wait for the peak, wait for the upcoming month and especially, Xmas as no one knows the surprises we are going to get...

The price for now I just prefer to Hold. If the price goes down I prefer to buy and hold it.
When the price goes high I prefer to just sell it and make profit. So it depends what happen with the price of bitcoin.

Buy low and sell high is the most common and easy trading method. Even noobs can do it. It's a great way of making profits for people that can't do day trading or find more advanced trading options too difficult. You only need patience.

I like bot, but this time is not that great for me to buy. For me is kinda expensive to buy.
Also selling is okay, but I believe that in 2016 we will reach 1000 dollars.

I prefer both of them, buying when i have money and when the bitcoin price is cheap, and trying to sell at a higher rate, my prediction for 2016 are that the next year will be full of surprises for the bitcoin community.

The virtue of patience will determine whether one merely makes some fiat or becomes rather wealthy during this next bull run. 2014 taught many the nerves of steel and I'd hardly consider selling before 10k w/ at least half my stash staying in bitcoin permanently.

so far in the history of bitcoin, what year hasn't been full of surprises? each year people don't know what to expect. one month the price gets dumped without any reason and 2 months later the price sky rockets while every one was expecting it to go down significantly.

I prefer to hold right now. The bitcoin price is a bit too expensive for me to buy and if I would sell now, I would not be making a lot of profits out of the price at the moment.
If you are able to buy and can afford it, you should go for it.

I prefer to watch market. And buy if price is low. These days, price is fluctuating just a little bit, but there are good opportunities to buy low and sell high. I do not want for price like $1000. This is not good strategy. Bitcoin must move.

The price is within a range, so it is possible to buy low and sell high. But we do not know when the price will rise suddenly.

my rule: hodling > selling > buying.
buy only when there's a high chance of going up. hold when it looks like it will go up (or rebound). and sell when things are hopeless.

The price now, is $370. I don't know why the price is declining, but I know that it is time for me to buy. I believe that bitcoin price will double up this year. ;D

smart move to play the market. many people see this drop as something bad while you can use this price drop to buy more at lower prices. what seems to be not so good, turns out to be a great opportunity.

i agree with magicmexican ^ there is nothing wrong with just holding if you have planned well enough in the past. for instance if you have bought when the price was stable and low at ~$200 then you have nothing to worry about and you will earn profit in the future.
selling in these bumps is only good for people who are trading on daily basis and have coins at the ready to risk with each price change.

holding is indeed the best option. i have been holding all my coins as well. i just used the price drop in my advantage to buy myself some more coins. and these coins will also be kept for the long term.

In this moment we are at much less (about 385 us dollar) and for sure that with this price I would buy (or better have bought already all the money had to spend for this occasion). Even the situation is a little not attractive to do so after to many "bad secrets" about bitcoin revealed by one member of the team of that people who normally must be the most avid people to protect with fanaticism it. But bitcoin have seen to much and my conviction is that will see thousands more. So I am answering to your question like the price would be 450 us dollar and not 385 us dollar as it is in this moment. What I would made in this situation (asked by you)? For sure I would buy. I did it before (even when was this price), I did it today and I will do it for sure again in the days to come. Every time I will have money I will buy bitcoin. Few after few will become to many. At least until the halving. Then to see and to do. Maybe will stop some time but I am sure than one day will begin again. If you are sick with such kind of disease must be able to support that.

Hold most of my coins. As I mine, so I have constant flow of new coins, I use some of them and hold the rest.

I think buying Bitcoins now is good step. The value is now low, so you can buy it for a low price. And maybe you have more money later.
Its not good to sell it now on this moment. I think it will be more worth later so, if you now invest then you can have profit later.

My strat is wait for some time  for 1-2 weeks if bitcoin will increase since it is stable try to make some comparation. Then if you conclude that the currency rise then time to sell. And if you see the exchange is low then go buy.

Right now?  Buy.  I think the trend at present is upward and will be for a while.  Of course I base this on nothing in particular--so buy and hold.  Buy and hold tends to work out well for me, trading tends to lose me money.

I think it is good idea to buy and hold them. When you need to buy something, then buy it with bitcoin.

Sell it is good to wait. You can now buy something that will be good for you. In the future than you can make some profit and that will be nice.
But you never know what can happen later in the future, for what is going to happen.

The best option is save your money and a little bit invest. That is the best way to earn some money I think.
With sell you must wait a long time. So just sell it when the value is very high. But you dont know when to sell it. It is hard to predict when you must sell it and that is true. Just wait.

I would buy bitcoins right now on this moment, the bitcoin is still low not as low as before but its still a good price to make profit out of it later, they only thing is do you want to take the risk and buy them.
I think the risk is minimum nowadays because of the halving but you never know it of course.

We can't get for a price less than this over the coming days as it has got the rising phase, also the halving is approaching. Some even suggest this growth in price also due to halving effects. Better is to buy than selling. Even selling gives good profit than past days.

That is a good idea, just hold your bitcoins for the halving that is coming its one of the best thing you can do now on this moment.

450$ has proven to be a better selling price than buying price. There have been 3-4 drops from around 450-480 to less than 400 already, so buy sub 400 and sell over 430-440

If you must choose. Than I than think that it is much better to buy it. The value is not that good to sell it now around this time.
If you now making an investment. Than you can hold it until it have a higher value. So patience is very important.

That's true, we should concentrate in buying at a moment, price is dropping slower, and this would be the best time to make some investment into bitcoins, as you can earn better profits in future when the price goes higher.

I would probably hold it for more time if the amount is $450. I would wait and pretty sure that the value of bitcoin will increase. When it reach the amount that I wanted I would probably sell but not much and still continue to earn for more and the same cycle its because I will use them for basic needs..

On this time it is better to buy it. Or if you already have Bitcoin it is very smart to hold it, it is not good to sell it now on this time.
The value is not that high to sell it so that is not good. We all waiting for a price increase later in the future.

It will be better if you are doing both now I think. Its not that low price to sell it and that is also not that high price to buy it.
So that is pretty good. But if you have already bitcoin it will be smart if you wait a while to sell them.

You should buy bitcoins on this time for sure because of the point the bitcoin has a really good price right now if I'm honest.

I got a buddy who did a small flash sale with his taco truck to get a taste of holding bitcoin. Pretty smart, since got it for cheap basically since how much does it cost make tacos.

And he didnt do this everyday, he just only did it one day then went back to fiat.

Yes buying now is good because the price is also good if you ask me think about the fact the bitcoin has a lot of future plans.

my overall preference is buying since we are waiting for the halving price rise, i think this stable price is a good point for buying as much as possible. but also to increase my income i do some day trading from time to time depending on how volatile the market is.

Of course you have to buy bitcoins in order to sell them. I suggest saving your Bitcoins until you know you can make a good profit.
If that's not the case I wouldn't sell.

When i have money i prefer to buy bitcoins, when i don't have much money i like to sell bitcoins so it really depends on what time i decide. But recently i prefer to hold the bitcoin as i expect a higher price near and after the halving on July.

back in 2014 i made the mistake to sell because i didn't have enough patience. later i bought back the coins i sold because i wasn't very happy with my decision to sell. i had to buy back at a higher price to get rid of my bad feeling. that's why i don't sell for small profits anymore.

$450 is a pretty high price to buy bitcoins for, but if you have the money and you can afford it you could buy. When you do not have much money to spend I suggest you do not buy. 

I'd rather buy at this time since the price has not moved much in the last month or so. So if you sell now, you won't make much only a couple of dollars if you bought since then. Just waiting for a month or two will reap you better benefits to sell.

Yeah waiting for some more time can be more profitable as price is not good at a moment to sell, but if we wait till halving then we can surely earn higher profits if everything goes fine.

@OP, right now I would be buying if I had the extra money to spend on it. By the looks of it the market is quite strong and will be for a little while, and nabbing some coins now while they are cheap is probably a good idea.

I really think that the bitcoin price could reach the $2000 level in a medium term, so I think it is not a bad idea to increase my current amount of bitcoins while its price is still below the 500 level, because a potential increase to $2000 would mean to multiply x4 or 5 my current money. cashing out profits indeed feels very good, but it's better to not sell your entire stash at once. i once did it in 2014 and i didn't feel good afterwards. i bought back my coins at a higher price level to make me feel good again. i sell 25% of my coins at most to secure profits now and that's it.

Basically just leave some USD and BTC on your wallet (if your wallet has that feature) so that you're ready to buy or sell if there's a spike. Well i wont buy or sell because i wi hold my btc and bitcoins price is bit to high for buying and we may not now that the price will pump or will dump and really its very risky to buy for this price thats why i choose to hold for now rather than buying and prepare to sell all bitcoins i have in july after the halving event done for that i can make sure i can get more profit than buying or ealy selling.

you should really start putting some thought into your comments, what you say here is contradictory to itself! you say it is time to sell bitcoin and then you say it is likely to rise! if it is likely to rise then you should hold until after the rise not sell.

If you already have Bitcoin than the best thing that you have to do is that you have to choose the right moment to sell it and dont sell it now because you are greedy.
Patience is important in Bitcoin and it is also not the best choice to make an investment now because the value is not that low now.

but sometimes, if you always wait for the highest price and it included greedy, but the price is now very profitable. but indeed because of their beliefs about halving, so everyone will be waiting for higher prices.

+1. The present price is too low to sell bitcoins and too high to buy bitcoins. You surely can get more profit when the halving comes. If you sell it now, then you'll miss the chance of getting higher profits. When the halving comes, all you have to do is hope that you sell your bitcoins at the highest price.

Nowadays even the price is around $583, I will prefer to buy as with that in the future we can earn some profit when halving will occur, everyone should have to buy bitcoin and have not to sell they will see the price increasing to a higher value, but if we sell and everyone do the same then the price rise will be hard.

Viewing the history, the chance for increase after halving is very less. Wish at least it stays stable. Hope everyone utilizes current days. As the value is really increasing high now, the wallets can be filled up.

Agree. From ~440$ we're now at ~700$+. The days when bitcoin's price wasn't moving is now over. The price keeps moving upward. Just take a look at this chart, this is the chart of BTC price from when we entered June up to now. I'm pretty sure that July would be more exciting because the halving will take place on July.

I think that I would prefer to sell coins because it always feels better if you are earning money instead of giving it away. So buying bitcoins is never a pleasure.

Price is high for sure and many people will prefer to sell at current price, but majority of people are hoping for much higher price and that is the reason they are still holding.

yes, even at these prices people are holding their coins. that's also the reason why the price managed to stay at these levels and not fall down sharply. i am also holding my coins, but i have secured some profits just to be on the safe side. it doesn't feel good if you don't sell and see the price go down significantly, while you had the great opportunity to sell at these prices.

Both are not the best thing that you can do and that is because the value of Bitcoin started to rise so it will be better if you are waiting a longer time to sell it.

it all depends about how the price of the bitcoin is you know. There will always be people who think it is enough and sell their coins but most of them are just holding them.

I also think that selling your coins is far better then buying them, earning money is always going to make you smile no matter what. Giving out money is not going to put a smile on your face.

What do i prefer that depends about the moment. If the coin is dropping that low i will only buy allot of coins off course. If the prise rises allot i will sell coins but not all off course that would be stupid.

Well, it looks like the halving will not result in another part of the rally that we have seen previously with 2 days to go before the block halving takes place.

I sold few coins yesterday when price was at $670 and after that it was continuously went down, and even today there is not positive indication of price going higher, price rally is already over I guess.

At this stage I will prefer to hold the coins that I have and will not prefer to buy till the halving is done, and if price drops after the halving then definitely will buy some more coins.

smart people buy when the price is going down as that will give you the best profits. i never buy with all my money at once. i always buy with around 10-15% of my money. this allows me to keep buying all the way down. that way it allows me to buy at the bottom and benefit at most from the price going up.

It just depends on what you consider to be a "very nice and high price". If that's in the range of $800-$900 then the chances of this to happen this year are quite decent. If you are thinking in prices of $2000 and higher, then no, no chance.

When thread was started that time it was good question but now it is time to hold. I prefer to hold in current situation neither buy nor sell as halving is about to be done in few hours from now. The halving effect is over, but it's time for new investors to step now we have brexit, the real brexit effect on bitcoin will still happen.

Don't think the BREXIT will have that much of an impact on the price. It's not even sure yet if they will be really leaving EU. Till that time there will be no positive impact on the price from that direction. I am more expecting Chinese people to use Bitcoin as a tool to get money out of their country. I prefer both. I prefer buying low and selling high and this is what most of the experienced traders do. I am not one experienced trader as I have lost a lot by doing trading but I would love to just be able to buy low the bitcoin and sell high. Should not be difficult. The only difficult thing is for me to add to my patience which I am clearly lacking in trading.
