I'm in a weird situation right now. I left home with nothing but my phone and a few dollars for a taxi fare thinking I wouldn't be out for too long. I went for a while, and I ended up getting lost with nothing but my phone which is slowly dying and it's getting cold. I need a 0.3 BTC loan for two days to get a motel for the night, some food and pay for a taxi to take me home. For a 0.3 BTC loan I can offer you 0.325 BTC once I get home. I know it's a weird request, but I'm hoping someone can help a brother out. For anyone wondering, the Bitcoin will go into a Bitcoin Debit Card which is how I'll pay for everything. Do you want a simpler solution ? Why not just take a  cab back to where ever your home address is and pay the cab driver once you reach home ? Maybe charge your phone in the car ? Why the heck would you stay at a random place for 2 days ,in a motel,as you're lost,when you can simply take a cab back home ?Either you're lying or trying to sell your legendary account,the story "I'm away from my desktop so I can't sign messages from my old address" fits perfectly in the scenario.

Your story doesn't add up. How do we know that your account is not hacked?

Well without a signed message the lender cannot guarantee that the account will remain under his control if you default.

You could sign a message and recover the account after you receive the loan.

Read up a few posts, the addresses are on my desktop and I can't sign any of them from my phone.

Let's say your story is true which I doubt it is.

You could receive the money from the lender and go home and claim back your account with a signed message making it look like a hack.
And the lender will loose access to your account.

Because some details of your story keep changing (like the fact you said Texas was a random place you entered and then you said you lived but moved) I think your account may be compromised.
And without a signed address you cannot use your account as collateral so a temporal negative won't affect you.

• I think your account may be compromised. Other users have asked for loans before without signing a message and then claim their accounts weren't under their control. Maybe I'm wrong but this is just temporal
  
• You can't use your account as collateral because you can't sign a message, so a temporal negative doesn't affect you
• I'm not asking for a signed message now. Post it when you get home and I'll remove the negative trust then

For the moment just go back home and pay the taxi when you're there, as suggested by someone else.

 The whole story sucked from the beginning.  No credit card, no friends, couldn't find a payday loan shop in Minnesota?  There are two within spitting distance of me right now and I'm in a little town at a lunch counter.

Yes it is easy to hack a bitcointalk account if you use the same password you use at bitcointalk at other sites
Most of the bitcointalk users keep same usernames and same password giving abusers an opportunity to login and do anything. Even I keep same username in gambling sites but not the password

Please provide proof you are the account holder of this account.  I am not sure what the issue is that you are coming back after a year of being dormant and then asking for a larger loan.  I would like not to agree that this account is hacked, but I have to agree that this account has been hacked unless you have something else to go on.

Looks like a hacked account anyway so its not going to happen, lucky this scammer couldn't come up with a decent story or he may have just pulled this off.

Yes, I also wonder because these guys just try to hack accounts and then make some pathetic stories which they also know none will believe. If you sent the same message as you posted here then it shouldn't be a problem because that measage verified fine, if it was a new message and you were worried just verify it yourself before sending in future.

I would suggest you PM Cyrus too, Cyrus is more active on the forum so you might be able to recover your account faster.

First, let me be the first to say, welcome back and I hope you recover your account quickly.  These a** hackers are a pain in the ass.  Why do they not do something worth doing, like hacking for companies to help strengthen their sites and security. 

Theymos got back to me pretty fast as it turned out.  The .3 btc that this hacker was looking to scam people out for will instead go to the forum as a donation.  So, in the end, his actions only will make the forum that much stronger.

Wow, reading this whole thread...this shit is like a movie.
The amount of effort (or lack-there-of) of this scam attempt was pretty amazing.
Then the amount of people who researched more into the account finding out anomalies was cool.

I guess the point of this story, is don't believe a sob story and check your facts....
Heck, i know I would have lent him the money if these anomalies wern't uncovered...

This hacker definitely didn't get his facts straight - cold in Texas in July?  Now there's a good one.  It's usually no "cooler" than 80F down here.  

The sad part is that he has likely gotten victims with exactly that story because he tried it again here.

The lesson learned for me is to keep better tabs on forum accounts even if I am not active too much on those forums.  The mere existence of the account does imply a minimum level of responsibility to know what's going on.

Above all, I'm just glad that there are so many seasoned scam busters lurking in the forums here.  The bar is definitely up there for the kinds of stories these clowns have to put out in order to get someone.
