Hello guys I am addicted to gambling.How can I quit this?

Seek professional help, some kind of counsellor. If you can't afford to do that then just gamble with small amounts if you still have to do it. Don't risk big money if you can't afford to lose it.

Alternatively find other things that you enjoy doing, find a new hobby, go to the gym, go joggng etc.

If you've very big amount in reserve for gambling than make it rain on other people, when you'll get out of the money than you can make your mind about this, from my opinion it is very hard to quit gambling for good until you make your mind and keep thinking seriously to do this.

Gambling is very addicting. The best way to get rid of it is by getting involved in some other better hobby of your own and spend time on it. Gradually your mind will forget about gambling and you will never be tempted to gamble again. You also need the help of your family members on this - they can be your biggest support.
Also try to stay away from professional help - most of them are there to just to make money and not treat you in any manner.

i think you can start from yours, you must have a strong desire to quit otherwise you can not quit, maybe its just temporary. beside that, you should ask your friend or your family to watch out everyday so if you want to start to gambling, they will warrant you and if necessary they will shutdown your computer if you gamble by internet, or told and drag you to go home.

If gambling is causing you real issues in life then you need to man up & take control. Have some self restraint, gambling should be fun, not something that causes distress & problems.

its all depend on the level of your addiction, if its still small then you can find hobby to replace your gambling addiction, rather than gambling go spend some times with your friends and family, and you need to make sure you have support from your friends and your family, the most important things is make sure you fill up all of your time for activity, if your addiction level is already severe i suggest you to go to psychiatric to find help

Coming here and creating thread about it will not help for sure. Gambling addiction is like any other addiction, first you need to wish it, and not just fooling around about that.
Talk less, do more! Instead of talking and making jokes about your addiction, try to occupy your self with something else you love to do in your life. You can also expend your views with something new. There is many things that you can do instead of gambling. Just don't start to use drugs!

Seek for help it's a good way to quit gambling too, but you need to focus to quit gambling, don't touch gambling anymore and delete all your gambling account.

I hope my suggestion is going to help you. What peoples are giving all suggestions is right. So for that you have to do hard work, Means you should control yourself and follow the people advice then only it is possible. If you do not control your mind means it is very tough to come out from this gambling. And also take your loveable person help they only help you lot more than others. 

Quit gambling is really hardest for any person but it depend on the person. He made himself mentally prepare for this that he is ready to take this brave step or not. something interesting hobby could be helpful to get busy in real life. If we have easy to online gambling and a place where people sharing their success stories than it would make harder to quit.

In addition to the other suggestions, find someone you can entrust your funds and give them to them. If you have no access to funds then you can't gamble it away. The person you will entrust it to must have the will to keep the funds from you as well. Wishing you to get all better.

Gambling addiction is really peculiar. Because unlike other types of addictions where you can see physical changes reflected on your body (drugs, alcohol).

From my experience to fight gambling addiction is to not have any money on you. Give access to your wallets, accounts and fiat money to someone you trust.

It depends on the severity of your case. If the addiction is just a casual addiction then you can do it yourself with some self determination. If the addiction is too high, then you will not make it alone and you need professional help and probably some meds. Good news is most people can do it themselves with some will.

That's a really good advice. Keep your real money , bitcoin safe and don't gamble with them, try to save them which will help you better in the long run. By playing only with faucets money I think the max amount you will play is like 1 dollar per day which will not make you sad even if you lose it and it will also save you from the addiction. Try to play with very lower bet in casinos which accepts lower bets, almost every casino accept the bet of 1 satoshi if they have the dice game. You can keep your self busy this way and forget about the real funds you used to play. If you cannot do this then follow every body advice to try to find some help for your problem.

OP, you're not going to do it by hanging out here, I can pretty much guarantee that.   Take the advice above and seek out professional help.   Have someone hold your money for you if possible.   People here are only going to try to get you back to gambling.

try to inactivity of internet activity, do it during the first week, then you go to someone who can heal you from gambling.

if you're already addicted, it is very difficult to quit, even if you wanted to quit, you need the help of someone to make you forget it. you need to find a new hobby or a job that can make you get away from it, other than that you also need to have strong principles and really serious about wanting to stay away from gambling, even you're not going to play for fun

if you want to quit gambling then try to make yourself busy with some other work. and try to find some real hobbies in the real world for example you can pick up excercising and building your body and improving your health at the same time or you can start a sport which is all constructive to your life instead of gamling and they are also going to fill your time too.

I think you can quit gambling slowly.  If you wagered huge amount,  you can lessen it little by little then make your gambling time shorter too.  Do some thing that will take your attention away from gambling and best of all, seek professional advice on how to stop your gambling addiction.

I read an article which is about a guy that is really addicted to gambling to the point where his life turn upside down and he only recovered because he played this game called "Heartstone" where u can get the feeling of gambling without spending a money.

   You need to ask yourself, what went wrong and you become addicted on gambling. Find what is the cause of that, and you will find a way to fix it. People tend to change one addiction for another, or one habit with another habit. Maybe you lost something, and you wanted to make up that with gambling, but you get wrong results.

I guess you gamble because you think you will win, so maybe try thinking otherwise. Each time you want to gamble just say to yourself "I will lose all my money" and remember all your big loses. We got addicted through habit. Just change your habit. I know it is hard but you can do it. Try to have healthy lifestyle.. go for a run.. talk to friends.. learn new things in life and stick to it in 40 days.. Run every single day for at least 40 days and you won't notice it that you will automatically go for a run without planning, that time you are already building a habit - just like in gambling.

Quit Gambling when you know you are losing but for sure you are earning that's why you came to that point of being addicted. But better stop when you know earn a lot because time will come you will lose it that's how gambling circulate.

If you want to come out of gambling, then I think we shouldn't play any online games until we forget or control our emotions. It is good if you can avoid using a computer for few weeks or couple of months and try to spend more time with family and friends. We have so many suggestions about this topic but it depend on the person what he has mind about this, for some people it can be easy to quit but for addictive person it would be much difficult to make his mind, it is all about self control and how mentally strong we are to do this.

I too agree that it's hard to quit gambling but if he/she can try not to use a computer for some time then 100% sure they can slowly stop the gambling. As long as one have access to computer difficult to put a control on them because they are addicted so try to spend more time outside with family and friends then it will become easy to quit gambling.

For me, it is really hard to quit gambling especially when it became a part of your life and you can't live already without it. But that is unusual and that is really called as an addiction so before things are going to be worst you must cure it by quitting. And you need some help ask your parents to help you and guide you for quitting it.

Use placebo effect. What a mean by that is use only faucet money for gambling from now on, of course you will be playing with insignificant money, you probably won't win big.
But you can deceive your brain that you are still engaged in gambling activities. Plus, gambling in this way prevent you from losing money.

This is a good idea, but if OP genuinely has a serious problem then this won't help. He'll just end up getting addicted and going for bigger money bets. If OP seriously has an issue with gambling, he's going to have to quit entirely.

I agree on this partially. Because going out for dinner is 1 or 2 days ok daily its won't work. But I agree that emotional support, this is very important if you want to quit gambling then share with your family members and take help from them. And one more thing tries to kill your free time with any other activities otherwise it is not quitting gambling is not possible.

Nothing external source can help you but it is you who can help you. You need to be convinced that gambling is bad thing which has negative effects on many people's lives. A strong help at first place and little help from close family members or friends depend on how you feel more better can help you. I've put a secondary account password for my BTC wallet, wrote it on two pieces of paper and gave one of them to a friend, the other to my family. My BTC is now safe, and whenever I need to deposit some BTC... I have to ask my family/friend for the password as I don't have it anymore and it's hard to remember. I think this is the best way you can stop gambling. You have to keep everything in control. Whenever I need money and I ask them for the password, they have to know what I need it for so I won't deposit anymore. Otherwise, find a hobby to do on a regular basis.

That's easy. Just go and find a job, you'll forget gambling soon if you are busy. If you don't mind, why are you quitting, what comes into your mind? if you have a reason, you can always use it to quit gambling, so each time your hands are itchy and want to gamble, just think of the reason on why you want to quit. But if you have limited assets and you can't afford it than better is that left it. But also you say you have been addicted person, and you want quit it, so see the other games where you have interest and play that game continuously on every day and also you should determine yourself to left the gambling for ever.

make a paper wallet and throw all your bitcoins into it. and make sure u cant access it by giving it to a family member to hold or something. and to cope with no bitcoins, just pretend you lost them all in gambling and now you dont have anything.

 You can trade money instead of gambling. Study usd/gold, gbp/usd or eur/usd pairs for example. Make predictions and take positions. I am not talking about forex and levering systems. They suck and you will most likely lose there. What i am talking is simple trading. I would suggest bitcoin trading but i can't, because how can i suggest you something which i don't trust in the first place...

I like the idea of finding another thing to keep you busy instead of gambling, but I dont think trading with bitcoins would help. Yes its easy because i already tested it in my self before i really addicted in gambling which is poker and bingo and i gamble before every day.. and now its reduce and i change my habit now i gamble in sports betting because i am making a profit there unlike the other game i want. also i am now addicted on the game called LOL league of legends that helps to me to reduce addiction..

Distraction is the best way to stop our addiction if it's only mental addiction.
Here it is easier if we just disconnect our internet connection as there won't be a method to surf any gambling sites of even think about gambling. I also disconnected my connection for 3 months and automatically gave up on the game.

very easy to say but difficult to apply. i think you should first minimize your bits and hope after some time you will quit it, but if you just manage your gambling strategy in a good way hope you will not feel the need to quit it for ever, and you will be happy with your gambling but need so practical work on it and a little hard work.

Well op must really let us know if his or her family is rich or not. But there isnt a guide or safe way from quit gambling, you must ask yourself what you really need, besides those wish of gamble. I believe your family can and should help you, soo you should talk to them and say i got a problem, they will help you to control your wishes or atleast a part of them.

Yes, in able to quit gambling you must be able to find other ways and get addicted to it but not again into gambling. Because it is much better if you are going to put your attention into trading, I think that is already enough to get addicted to it and it can get your attention rather than putting your addiction in gambling, only if you really want to quit gambling.

You can also get addicted to trading, but to be honest I feel that getting addicted to trading is far better then getting addicted to gambling, as in trading you always have an opportunity to earn.

Btw rich people also can become broke too if he plays too often without set any limit to it. Better to change your gambling habit like hangout with your friends or doing some worthy activities (like doing work or job). yes, it is very difficult to remove gambling from our daily life. gambling is very influential for my income as well. gambling is entertainment, while giving pleasure. for me gambling is my friend.

Find another outlet where you don't win or lose anything. A hobby of some sort. Even an expensive hobby is fine. Rather spend money on a nice hobby then piss it away losing in gambling in the hopes to win more. Even if you win in gambling what will you do with the winnings if you don't have a hobby ? You will just put it right back in and lose it again and be sad. So either betting or a hobby. I suggest a hobby for now and if you really have to betting later.

Gambling is risky and i think everyone know about this fact. So unless you gamble just for fun, it's preferred if you quit or just don't gamble with huge amounts to minimize the risks

I think of you are asking this maybe not gamble at all. Delete all accounts and lock them. Dont make transfers to any bitcoin casino. If you have addresses saved for bitcoin casinos remove them at once. The best way is to be cut off completely. Otherwise just one more gamble can make you hooked again. Like an alcoholic must not have even one beer so must you not have even one more gamble. Even a small gamble will turn big soon after.

I try with small amounts too but it always comes to putting in more and more.
In the end it turns into larger amounts that you did not intend to spend in the first place.
My suggestion is to not start gambling in the first place. Then you are safe from it's grip. ;)

When I wanted to quit gambling three months ago, I just withdrew all the bitcoins I had via an exchange website and I was left with nothing. No money, no hope to earn more and double it and no gambling. Do not have any way of withdrawing your money then just try LBC and exchange it for fiat.

I think that you should find a other hobby because that is going to keep your mind away from gambling.
But that other hobby has to be something that you find fun because otherwise it will not work.

Thats a good one. Sometimes friends can be the key for your problems. But be careful of chooosing friends. Sometimes they can lead you to good situation and sometimes they're not so better choose good friends. You can tell them your gambling problems. Its hard to quit from gambling, even more you are addict. Maybe you can try the extreme method, like never have any touch to your internet if you play online gambling. It depends on your self, like smoking people. it hard to quit smoke, except she/he have own will from themself.

Family, loved ones, and friends play a vital role in helping a person that is addicted to gambling. Of course, everything is of no use unless that very person recognizes his addiction and is very much  willing to stop it. The gambling addict can shift his/her attention to a more healthy and progressive endeavor.

i guess we are same, but we need some big big foundation mind-set for start it. we have to away from this bad habbits, it's very easy mate, it's easy realy easy, if you things this are hard so you're still have a big ego for gambling and smoking . keep optimistic and committed so last you will done with this.

yeah... keep yourself busy, be a busyman. More activity you have (not gambling activity), you can more to forget your 'bad habbit'. Maybe it will more efficient if you do your busy activity with people around you. but not same people with gambling addict.

Who says that it is difficult to quit? it is not that hard, though sometimes you will miss it but as soon as you get over, for sure you will not like even the thought of doing it...


As my example, I am a smoker before for almost more than ten years, and I don't know how I quit, I just think that I want to do it, and I did a lot of things that I do before I became a smoker, and until now I am not smoking for almost a year now and when I smell a smoke from cigarette, I feel irritated... I think quitting depends on your decision, if you don't want it, you should tell it to your self and do it...  :)

Like any addiction, quitting is the hardest decision to take. I have tried dozens of times to quit gambling but I never could. Even if I was able not to gamble for a few months, I still came back. What I was able to change was how much I bet, how much I deposit (nothing) and the self-control. Try to control all these factors and you won't have a problem with gambling anymore.

Totally agree with this. In order for us to get out from something that we are already addicted is to divert our attention to other more healthy and meaningful endeavor. The temptation because anyone who comes to us especially if you want to avoid it so you better make yourself avoid gambling and do not yield to temptation . If you really cant quit take up poker/sports betting or trading where you can actually be +ev provided you do your homework.  I doubt many people who get addicted to gambling in general fair well in poker/sports or trading either but its better than being than no hope of +ev with house games. I think you are missing my point even if you chose an activity that in theory is good for you, if you don’t get professional help you could get addicted to almost anything and any addiction is bad for you. For example exercising is good for you, but some people have become addicted to exercising and that has brought a lot of problems to their lives.

We can just say that it is easy to quit gambling by doing something else but i still keep playing everytime i get bored. It is really hard to quit when you already addicted to something.

You said to find addicted person to get suggestion, But you already faced this issue and you came back from thas problem, so you are the right person to ask this question, please tell in deatil what all things you followed to come back from gambling. I think quitting gambling is not a small matter, we need more dedication here, otherwise it is not possible to come out from gambling.

Since gambling addiction is a serious problem then most likely quitting gambling is very hard to do..Look, when you are addicted you are not in control of your self anymore, it's like you let the devil dictate you because in the end the fun you started will turn into big loses.

This is the most challenging that a gambler will going to face if his addiction to gambling is too much already. And it is going to depend to him on how he is going to fight for it.

And quitting gambling alone is not effective because if you really want to quit gambling you are going to get some help and if you want the best help.

Well that is going to help you to quit gambling for real because if you are going to have your own girlfriend for sure your time will be with her.

And this is what I have experience as of now, because of her I am able to use most of my time to her just talking with her and hanging out with her.

That is why I am able to quit on gambling little by little.

My experience is I have a girlfriend which is currently my wife now, I do gamble but I still have time for her because I spend my earnings in gambling to my wife to have a date sometimes, so if you will see it's a win-win situation for me.

According to me, Gambling is more better than having Girl Friend. Yes in gambling if we invest some money and if we lose money today we have hope that tomorrow we may win. But if we invest on GF it will never come back. It's just dead investment. But investing on the wife is worth I agree. But GF is more expensive. So if you want to quit gambling make Gf, because you will not get time to play, and also you will not get any extra money to play gambling.

Good suggestion though because  having a girlfriend   would  let you focus  into  here  even though  you would  spend some money  but  its better rather than to   be addicted  on gambling. Getting   from  other things would  really help you  out  though but still it would cost  you  money.

first time i've read that suggestion and i think it would actually work. aside from the fact that having a gf would take away your attention from gambling. i think it's also good as you would have interaction with other people rather than just sit and stare at your computer or waste time inside a casino

Yup this suggestion must work, because if we make any girlfriend we will not get much free time, and they will not allow us to do other tasks. Every weekend expense if we invest in gambling means we can expect some profit. But Yes if we invest on GF it's just time waste and money waste. But you can easily come out from gambling.

There is an extremely simple solution to quit gambling with bitcoin. just throw all of your btc in a paper wallet and store it or give it to someone you trust to hold onto it.

Yes maybe if married can give to the wife. But I think it's still way less effective, because everyone will need access to the money. If you throw all BTC to the paper wallet can also be used betting on reality. I think maybe it was not an effective way. Keep a journal, and try to identify everything that give you the itch to gamble. And then try to eliminate them. If it's sports, then eliminate your TV. If it's stress, then force yourself to take long walks. You get the idea. The longer that you can distract yourself from what gives you the itch, the easier it will be for it to not cross your mind.

having a GF is a good solution but i think we should not to be with our GF in a day, we need our private time to do our activity like work for jobs and other thing. but i am agree that having GF is a good solution to quit gambling and we don't have to thinking about gambling again and we can spend our time with our GF.

For me it is not the best way as the person will remain with nothing and he will not be able to spend his life better and he will not be able to start any other activity like any other business as without money it is totally impossible so the better way is to start a business from beginning and give time to family for fun.

There are actually a lot of people who does not stop gambling until they lose their money and you called them gambling addicts and most if not all of them suffer consequences of being irresponsible in gambling. They should quit but they do not have the guts to do it unless there are people that's close to them like their family who will influence them on a more productive activities.

That is so true! I gamble hard before but when my son was born few months ago, I stopped gambling because of guilt. When I see his face, I get this urge to do some stable source of income for his future - gambling is definitely not a stable way to income, I should say that it is a stable way to lose your hard earned money, period.
