Title: Is Cryptopia Exchange Safe and Legit?
Post by: luckytimes on March 31, 2017, 10:42:44 PM
Hi. I have been browsing coinmarketcap and see some good looking coins that are listed on Cryptopia. But, are they safe to use? I am in the United States and wonder if they follow all of the regulations and rules? Just wondering if anyone in the USA has any experience bitcoin trading on this exchanger? Thanks :)

I don't use it. If you do, be very cautious. There is exactly a 0% chance of them having the credentials you ask about, though

Thanks for the reply. So, do people in the United States use this exchanger and it's all legit? I am just confused on how this all works. I use bittrex and polo so far :) I know they are reputable. What is a good reputable exchanger that has a lot of cheap coins listed? I like investing into coins when they are very low priced.

You can follow their thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1669443.0
I'm not use them yet, I'm still in watching, but sooner I will use their service. Looks like their developer active on this forum, but I can't say it's legit.

Seems like they have already do a regulation:  cryptopia limited (http://www.business.govt.nz/companies/app/ui/pages/companies/5392901?backurl=%2Fcompanies%2Fapp%2Fui%2Fpages%2Fcompanies%2Fsearch%3Fmode%3Dstandard%26type%3Dentities%26q%3DCryptopia).

cryptopia is safe to use. just enable its 2FA. you can choose from having a pin code or google authenticator. i advise to choose google authenticator.. it is safe to use. just be careful in trading, there are so many shitcoins in that site.

have a good day mate.

Yes. I have used cryptopia and the graphics are good and user friendly. I would also suggest to look out for https://yo-ex.com/ (https://yo-ex.com/). A new exchange but have good features. The speed is marvelous in yo-ex. Trusted and better.

It's legit, but not very big. Good for coins that are not listed on Poloniex, Kraken, Bittrex, Bitfinex etc.
Safe? For exchanging yes, but never store your coins on an exchange.

Crytopia is a good exchange site been using it for almost 9 months amounting almost 4 btc, All my deposit and withdrawals works fine no issues for now, many coins listed, I haven't heard any scam accusations up to now so far so good exchange site no worries on your deposit, support is very responsive according to my own experience when I got some very minor issues regarding confirmations very legit site.

I've used them before. No issues. I agree with the post above which states not to leave coins on ANY exchange any longer than needed. Good advice.

I have only used cryptopia once and I never had any issue with it. Deposits are fast the same as withdrawals are processed instantly. Security is also fine but I don't like trading in it. The coins in there are not that good to trade and the volume is not at all good.

The volume is not good because not enough people trade there. If more people would give them a chance and do some trading there then the volume will increase. And true, there are a ton of crap coins on there, just like with most other smaller exchanges. But there are some of the big names in there too like BTC, LTC, DOGE, DASH, Monero, and DECRED. And come on, they also have Titcoin and Sexcoin! What more can we ask for?

I have never heard of any big complaints about them ? That needs to worth something if you ask me.
However they have low volume compared to bigger ones, if you want to try something new and fresh try liquo they are a lot more active and have a decent coin numbers and has decent volume too.

Cryptopia is legit - I work there as an employee, not an owner, not a shareholder, not a volunteer.

While we don't have massive volume at the moment, it's not something we're too concerned about either. We're profitable, liquid, and growing about as fast as we can without it getting uncomfortable. I'm pretty confident that our platform and customer support are both industry leading at present, I mean - you actually have to look pretty hard around these forums to find any complaints about us or our service at all.

Sorry for the necro, but I've been told to go be our presence here :)

If you use the chat you can be certain some moderator ego will take it as a personal insult and ban you. I hope the don't let traders do the moderating. Or "insider tip-beggars".

Still to much "ego" on that exchange. Like it's owned or something.. Don't mess with the owners or we are gonna kick your sorry ass of the chat buhu. Please hold my hat types.

And for the constant "read the rules!" comments: They make you look like loosers that don't wan't to loose again!

Why not?
So far i didn't have any issues with them.
Always withdraw my money without problem and that is only thing i need from exchange.
Can you please be more specific?

Really convincing....lol

Especially the part that is in RED
I'm not sure what you see but this is what other see:

https://i.imgur.com/d1l1ahO.jpg

The only scammer is you and the other Signatum coin scam sock puppets and cheerleaders.

Sadly you had your coin removed from Cryptopia because the wallet caused problems.

I doubt any sane exchange will list that scam coin after the DEATH THREATS that were made.

Extensively explained here:

the last trade I made still work without having any issue, so I think its still safe just needed to try the service with small amount before proceeding
that's how I check any  exchange that I use I try depositing and withdrawing if I see no problem then that the best time to use it with much larger
volume,.

how many user accounts do you have in here cocksucker xtraelv (from bulgaria, but your timezone tells me that you are located in the UK :D)? Are you paid by cryptopia? why are you not using the LEGENDARY/TROLL accounts cryptodevil (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2030529.msg22076727#msg22076727), Lauda (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1764757.0)? are the user accounts gmaxwell or Carlton (https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/672ano/more_evidence_gmaxwell_is_abusing_the_trust/) also yours? Isn't one enough? Probably not, i guess you are trying to build up a new reputation to gain trust again to trick people, right? you shall not be trusted boy:

https://i.imgur.com/2FTebTy.png

ridiculous, see! everyone should see his posting history: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=897509;sa=showPosts (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=897509;sa=showPosts)

HAHAHAHA ARE YOU FOR REAL ?

1) I have one account on bitcointalk. Any moderator can verify that.
To make it really clear - I do not have any Alts.

2) Cocksucker ? no thanks - I prefer women

3) Timezone is incorrect. Try again. You are not even close. Hint - it is an English speaking country. You may find that I occasionally leave out whole sentences, words or transpose letters but that is because I am dyslexic.

4) I'm not paid by Cryptopia. I do not work for Cryptopia. I have accounts on numerous exchanges but prefer Cryptopia.

5) I don't know Cryptodevil personally. Some simple homework would have shown that me and Cryptodevil have not always been
on good terms but we have made peace. I doubt he is from Bulgaria either - his English and grammar indicate he is probably also from native English speaking country. (BTW that rubbish you posted about him on the other thread - all nonsense - just because the username is used on another site doesn't make it the same person - It just makes you look stupid )

https://i.imgur.com/P9rRIAF.jpg

OH LOOK - were online at the same time ! Must be the same person ! Please tell me your other ridiculous conspiracy theories.

6) I don't know Lauda other than that he/she is a scambuster.

7) I don't know who the other accounts you are referring to are.

8 ) I don't have to have any other accounts to build reputation. Your feeble attempt to negative trust me doesn't show to to anyone
other than yourself and any idiot that you have on your trust network. But since you have been so kind to leave feedback I've returned the favour. The image that you posted is only one that you can see because you have removed default trust from your list. EVERYONE ELSE won't even see your rating cause you have no trust ranking on here whatsoever.

9) It just shows that you do no research and just troll, post hype and try to flame anyone that disagrees with your hype. I posted a link where the "the doctor" admits scamming people.  You've got excuses for lie, untruth and misrepresentation. The FACT is that the Signatum DEVS lie and have continued to do so. It is not a good basis for a reputation. It may be too late to save you from your own stupidity but hopefully it saves others from the scam.

Before now I have refrained from posting negative feedback on you because you hadn't given me enough proof that you were an intentional scammer - but that shit just got personal.

If you use the chat you can be certain some moderator ego will take it as a personal insult and ban you.

This is true - if you insult a moderator or break the rules they will ban you. If you insult one of the
administrators they will flame you and use some colourful language and then ban you.

If you are breaking the rules or being rude to them and getting banned it is not funny for you.

But if you are in the trollbox or Discord at the same time and witness the exchange then it often can be hilarious and entertaining.
After all - it is a "troll box" and rule breaking trolls get ridiculed.

The admins also often give away free crypto on the trollbox and there is a bot that gives way free crypto too.

still wonder about the low volume and why not enough people trade there?

I don't see what the problem is here.

sa_ddam213 who is one of the owners of the site agreed with what Mr Floppy said about Cryptopia being a privilege not a right.

If you walk into a bar and cause trouble you get removed (sometimes forcibly) . Same with a forum or website. Break the rules and you're gone.

ti460 - You are a wallet developer and moderator for Signatum - I've seen you be far more arrogant and rude on this forum.

how many user accounts do you have in here cocksucker xtraelv

I'm still waiting for an apology and retraction for the BS that you posted about me.

jbelisle - is one of the wallet developers, moderator and developers of Signatum - I don't know what alt he uses on here.
I'm not even going to bother reposting some of the BS he has told on discord.

Cryptovore - (Core Signatum Developer) I don't know all the accountS he uses on here because he prefers to use sockpuppets.

https://i.imgur.com/nL0IZQm.jpg

Why doesn't he just use the one he already has that I know about ? Why does he have to use sockpuppets ? Sounds real legit !

https://i.imgur.com/CJgBPyA.jpg

You have a clear grudge against Cryptopia for which I don't even have to post screenshots because they only need to look at all the posts you have made about them on bitcointalk. I understand that you have some genuine issues with Cryptopia because they delisted your coin.
There were issues with your wallet which appear to have been caused by the wallet itself. It did take a very long time to resolve because it took such a long time to sync with the network.

In the meantime Cryptopia support staff were bombarded with angry emails and threats - which was instigated in part by "the Doctor".

https://i.imgur.com/mctGtrZ.jpg

Signatum community members started a deliberate campaign against Cryptopia which included false screenshots and misinformation - which was instigated by "the Doctor". That has backfired big time because it has publicly exposed lies, deceit and scams that has occurred within the Signatum community.

Cryptopia also has a community and most of those have been in Crypto for quite some time. Like myself they dislike Cryptopia unfairly being bashed.

But of course, always be careful and be aware of your environment because even though it's safe there will be one who will try to victimize you.

But I stopped to trade on the past few days because almost all coins and altcoins are fall down the price, so I decided to hold it for the meaning. It took half an hour which is on the plus side :-)
But now I cant put them for sale because it is saying insufficient funds. Can it be because I dont have bitcoins in my account? Won't they just automatically take away the fee from what I am earning? Do I have to deposit BTC before?
I tried to sell 17/18 this should be far enough for the fee.

I think if it's outside of the USA there is more freedom and more chance it's legit since USA hates freedom and loves to regulate our freedoms (saton loving country)

Have been using cryptopia for more than 9 months, sometimes the volume can be interesting with a coin compared with other exchanges trading same token. No exchange is 100% safe until it is attacked, people's believe on exchange is that most hack is more of the insider, so if cryptopia does not betray its customers it can take care of itself. Cryptopia is always improving its service and security.

Hi. I have been browsing coinmarketcap and see some good looking coins that are listed on Cryptopia. But, are they safe to use? I am in the United States and wonder if they follow all of the regulations and rules? Just wondering if anyone in the USA has any experience bitcoin trading on this exchanger? Thanks :)

A little late to reply but Cryptopia is a legit exchange. I am a member there and a happy member. I am also in the United States. I have deposited coins and withdrew coins no problem at all. The only thing I dislike about this exchange is the marketplace. Its where you can buy all sorts of stuff with btc. I dislike it only because I have no interest in it.

This is serious scam accusation against cryptopia, and I see you are doing a lot of fud against them, better show us some evidence that they scammed you.
So far i haven't got any kind of issues with exchange, all withdrawals and deposits went trough very fast.

Cryptopia is a downright scam. THey have disabled millions of Waves and giving flimsy reasons such as no connection to waves, while every other exchange is able to process waves token
They have little to no technical knowledge of how crypto currencies work, just a bunch of kids in their basement running a buddy exchange

STAY THE HELL away from this one if you don't want your account locked for some bullshit reasons

The best and safest exchange for me. I've made a lot of profit because their site is the home of pump and dump coins and thanks to them I always reach my target. They also don't require verification which is what I really want in exchanges.

I can confirm that they are legit, since i`ve been using their market for quite some time. Never had any issues with them, apart from locked wallets here and there, but with so many coins and stuff changing so fast, i can only see that as a plus, meaning they are keeping their market clean of exploits and errors. Highly recommended, and they deserve a lot more trading volume than they have now.

I think cryptopia is a good exchange and I think it is safe and legit to trade on that site especially if we have verified our account. there is many altcoin that we can pick to trade for daily and I think we can make a good profit. we can compare between cryptopia and other exchange like poloniex and bittrex and if we are luck, then we can found a good coins that have big gap from other exchanges. but I think cryptopia is still medium exchange and it is good for new people to keep practicing their skill with that site.

If i remember it correctly I used it once or twice to trade UR Coin because it is not listed on bittrex and Polo and cryptopia is the best option. I guess it is safe if you use 2fa.

It is safer compared to Polo and Bittrex right now. Those verification from the two exchnages is what makes it more complicated and creates many issues and complains which is not present in Cryptopia which is its edge that makes it safe and legit.

I don't know about bittrex because i haven't use it for a while but i don't know why you are saying that cryptopia is safer than poloniex. Just a couple a days ago I withdraw some bitcoins and withdrawal went trough in less than 5 minutes without any problems - and very safe with all verification. Only difference is that unverified accounts can cashout more money from cryptopia.

I'm using crytopia exchange for a year and I didn't encountered any kind of problems. Regarding on your question I'll probably say it's safe and legit. I'm very disappointed last week when they increased the transaction fee to 0.002 bitcoin from 0.001 bitcoin. Right now I'm trading at bittrex because of less transaction fee.

Cryptopia as I can see is next to yobit exchange which has a lot of shit coins. ;D
it is the exchange that's not belong to the exchanger which has a high reputation like Bitcoinwisdom, Poloniex, Bittrex and Kraken.

I have to give a serious warning to who ever is reading, my experience with cryptopia was fine before something in their system faulted when I tried to withdraw Cagecoins September 13.

My balance showed zero after that, but the coins never arrived to the destination. I of course contacted support and they said they are not able to help and will forward the case to 'admins'. After that radio silence.

I have sent them messages, after that but the issue is still not resolved. At the time of withdrawal the cage coins were worth one bitcoin, that is over 7000 euros now!

I have a feeling they are trying to make me lose my money and keep me waiting for forever? I said to them if you lost the coins ok, but just refund me. But they have not done that or even given me a deadline when this will be resolved. I have a bad feeling...

There must be some law on New Zealand that you cannot just take peoples money?! Should I contact the local police? I am starting to feel robbed.

Of course that was also the situation for me, BEFORE things suddenly went wrong so that does not really mean anything. It also takes them weeks to reply to simple questions.

Now they said they refunded me and closed the ticket. But can you guess, my balance shows still zero! This is almost like a nightmare that does not seem to end. I'll keep you up to date how this goes and when and if I get my money back.

Safe? For exchanging yes, but never store your coins on an exchange.

Title: Re: Is Cryptopia Exchange Safe and Legit?

Update to my Cage coin issue. They said they can see the cage coins in my account. But they dont seem to realize they _delisted_ the coin earlier. How could I see it??

Also I hoped they would have refunded me in BTC because they held my cage coins so long that they seem totally worthless now, the 24h volume is $52 USD. How can they do this? They stole my money and give it back too late when its worthless? Unbelievable arrogant people!

And, I still even haven't got those Cages back, I guess they keep me waiting untill its zero dollars. Then it's handy to give it to me while they keep the profit when they probably sold my Cages at 1.0 bitcoin price. Which is valued 9600€/$11400 now. So at the moment I have been robbed ten grand by them. Beware!

Exchanges are meant for trading and not for storing our coins and it isn't a wallet as you don't have any control and you don't hold any private keys. Just deposit your coins when you wanna trade and immediately withdraw it or else your risking your coins.
MEW is a decentralized wallet and let's you hold private keys as so it's safe to use.

Please read more carefully, because I just wrote how my Cage withdrawal has taken months and still to this date has not beem resolved. So if regular user is lucky they can use Cryptopia, but then the problems might start suddenly.

Notice that I have YEARS of experience and have traded thousands and thousands, so I know a problem when I see one. Sometimes I wonder if these writers work for the exhanges because they so urgently tell you how THEY have always got a good service. Sure, there is even a scam strategy that uses ignorance like that. Its called 'selective scamming' Google it if you haven't heard about it.

The main problem is that there are always negative feedback because bad experiences in almost all exchange including the ones you mentioned above. It will be good if we use local exchanges that has official office. When there is a problem and no answers from support email then we can go to the office for faster communication. I'm not really sure if such exchange that has an office is existing out there.  ;D

If you do try to look at on the recent fee of cryptopia then I would say I didn't really like such thing because I can able to compare the difference of the default tx fee when you do made such withdrawals or transfers but well talking on its legitimacy then I would say it is legit for now but as being said it wont really guarantee us that they would able to run forever but still we can able to make use of it but remember only store up sufficient amount of coins that are used for trading.

I have issues with Cryptopia withdrawals currently. Tried sending 800+ Innova coins to my wallet 4 days ago, still stuck in processing. Sent a 2nd transaction of about 130 Innova coins, it went through in a few minutes. Same wallet. Opened a support ticket 24 hrs after initial withdraw request, 3 days later still no answer.

From what I read on their forum, a lot of people are experiencing delays with some withdrawals.

Good reply. I mean, for now, since cryptopia is one of the newer and up-coming altcoins that holds a promising future. I can also say and agree that it is relatively safe to deal with it now; however, you must also see the big picture that since it's starting, although it's gaining good focus and support from many people, that it is not as profitable as the strong and established altcoins. I have read many information about it, and I think one of the aspects that many users have come to like is that it's developers have a good future plan for it.

cryptopia is safe and good as far as I use it, I often use it, and the coin price is pretty good there, lots of traders are interested in trading there, you can activate 2fa for more security

I just exchanged about 196 Zero for BTC on the Cryptopia, but I did not get Bitcoins in my account (I had 0.05979240 BTC before selling Zero and after sale I only have so much). Looks like I sold Zero for nothing. Now I do not have nor Zero nor Bitcoins. How is it possible ?

Check orders, maybe you didn't sell them.
There is no other explanation, if you've sold them and you didn't receive bitcoins contact support, they are only one who can help.

Cryptopia is for my experience one of the most trustable exchangers. They have a quick support, huge community and active chat.
It is only quite slow loading at the monent. They should also improve their mobile interface, what is awful and old fashioned.

Agree. It's my first exchange where I learned how to trade. It is also my favorite arbitrage site and where most of  coins pumped easily. It has the same level of popularity like Nova and Coinexchange have. I never had problems from day 1 up to now.

cryptopia is safe for me and I think for every people which trade on that site. although cryptopia is a small exchange, I think cryptopia is one of the safe and legit sites and you can trade with safety. but you need to activate the security to make your account more safety and you can avoid getting hack. personally, I don't any bad experience while I trade on that site and I still make a profit although it is not too big, I am happy to see that I can make another profit.

Hi. I have been browsing coinmarketcap and see some good looking coins that are listed on Cryptopia. But, are they safe to use? I am in the United States and wonder if they follow all of the regulations and rules? Just wondering if anyone in the USA has any experience bitcoin trading on this exchanger? Thanks :)

Level 2 verification is pending for a quite a while. They are very slow and absolutely no customer support, which sucks!

Is it in USA even neccessary to provide ID, when only cryptocurrencies without FIAT are traded?
Are you still able to withdraw during ID processing?

To OP:
My experiences on Cryptopia are good. They have active support and pay out very fast.

They can't cope with the sheer number of new registrations. They say it had reached half a million new registrations a month before they stopped accepting new users, This is a letter the founders posted in their news section to explain the reason for the poor service and apologise.

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/News

Quote
Letter From The Founders
My name is Rob Dawson, or probably better known as "Hex", and I am one of the two Co-Founders of Cryptopia. Adam ("sa_ddam213") and I started Cryptopia as a hobby, largely due to our own negative experiences with other exchanges and a desire to build the website that we ourselves wanted to use. 6 months into development we founded and incorporated Cryptopia as a company, and after 12 months of development the site went live into production for the first time in December 2014. For the first 2 years the company consisted soley of Adam and myself, working our regular full times jobs and dedicating our spare time and income to Cryptopia, and while we were proud of our growth and what we were achieving it was not even a drop compared to what we've experienced in the last 6 months, let lone the last week. Roughly this time last year Adam and I being well into having quit our jobs to work on Cryptopia full time and running low on savings and resources had a very real conversation about whether or not we should shut Cryptopia down, we had a modest 30,000 users, with an average of 2,000 concurrent user sessions at any given time, and averaged about 300 BTC in trade volume a day; we were proud of what we had achieved, but at the time it simply wasn't sustainable with our dwindling resources.

Obviously we didn't shut down Cryptopia in January 2017, thanks to an investment we were able to keep pushing through. By the 1st of December we hit 500,000 users. On the 31st of December we hit 1,000,000 users. By the 3rd of January we hit 1,100,000 users. By the 4th of January even with registrations disabled for 3 hours, we hit 1,200,000 users. With registrations paused again we're now sitting at 1,400,000 users. We've gone from just 2 people to over 50 people including contractors and consultants and we're looking to at the very least double that as soon as we can, but that also brings with it its own set of hurdles. I mention all of this only to give context as I would like to acknowledge the complaints and concerns about our level of service. We are aware that our level of service has been suffering, but that is not due to any complacency on our part, rest assured that we are hiring people, and developing the processes to manage those people to grow with the demand we're facing and scale as best as we can. Please bear with us, as we know how frustrating it can be for users involved in issues impacting their ability to transact freely, but we're in an unprecedented time with adoption and interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain surging and Cryptopia is dedicated to being a quality service provider in this evolving landscape.

Thank you for supporting Cryptopia and being a part of our community.

personally, I think cryptopia is safe and legit and I was surprised to know that they have a big trader inside that site. I think it is normal if they shut down the registration because maybe they cannot handle a new customer that is bigger than they thought. but I hope that in one day, they will open new registrations for people so other people can try to trade on their site. I have good experiences too with them and now I still trade with them besides use poloniex and bittrex.

I guess a lot of other traders switched from poloniex and bittrex to cryptopia. Poloniex and bittrex's new verification rules and bad service probably gave traders little choice but to go to cryptopia, and now cryptopa is starting to struggle supporting so many users.

Cryptsy used to be way better than cryptopia and you all saw what happened.
BTC-E used to be way better than cryptopia and here it is now www.btc-e.com

I have stopped trading in cryptopia and emptied my account 7 months ago.
There are plenty of bad practices by this exchange like 200 confirmations. So, if there is a pump in a coin it will take you 2 days in some coins until they deposit into your account. This way you miss the high price and not be able to sell.
Now, they have problems with LTC and DOGE markets that they are not capable to fix.  :D

I can't believe someone deposited 5 ETH in there.
Next time send them to a paper wallet, print and burn them. At least you will heat your room for 20 seconds.

although cryptopia is safe and legit, I think they are closed for new members for now but I don't know when they will open the registration. I have an account with them and I think cryptopia is safe and legit. I think it is better that we have many accounts on many exchanges so we can trade with many options too and finally, we can make money from much of exchanges. just imagine if we have more than 10 exchanges and we can buy many coins when the price is cheap and don't do anything with that coin and then we come back in one year later, I am sure that our profit will bigger.

While Cryptopia is safe and legit

Beware of very convincing phishing sites buying google ads to fool people.
Clicking a link from a search engine is not safe.

Make sure you type cryptopia.co.nz in the address bar
Check the security certificate of the site.

Cryptopia has NO OFFICIAL APPS.  Google has failed to remove FAKE APPS from the Play Store.

This problem also affects other exchanges.

Can you share some information regarding your transaction because otherwise, people will not consider your word? There are many positive people who have the lot of positive feedback towards the Cryptopia, so shares the links and support tickets raised by you in order to get answers from them.

On my experience on this seeling and trading altcoins in this cryptoworld I may say that cryptopia is one of trusted and tested exchange. I am using cryptopia in trading etherium to btc, I find it quite easy to use and safe because of its Google authentication and i may say that the fees on trading here is much low than other exchangers. But if you still not satisfied on this exchange your free to try and test other legit and reputable exchanger like Bittrex, polenex, yobit, ethdelta and etc.. There ate plenty to choose but right now i am trading my tokens, etherium and altcoins on either cryptopia or etherdelta.

I think cryptopia is a safe exchange to trade with. I ave accounts in cryptopia and so far I did not encounter any problems. For security reasons please add the 2FA features for added layer of security especially on exchanges.

What I did not like cryptopia is its higher withdrawal fees compared to other exchanges.  ;D

They seem to have a few coins, but not sure about how reliable it is.

I see quite a few tokens listed but a lot of the markets are offline.

They have also mistaken some coins for some other for example Etherparty FUEL they have mistaken it with FuelCoin FC2.

Double check before you try.

I have been using Cryptopia many times and I would definitely say my experience is good. It's easy to use and always fast with deposit and withdrawals, which is the most important aspect for me.

Volumes sometimes are quite low and trading features are very basic compared to others. But is a secure exchange, so it's ok for me. Cryptopia is a good choice for investing in altcoin (I usually trade Bitcore – BTX), less for major coins which have a higher spread.

I've been used to use Cryptopia for months and I feel it's really good but not really secure cause your Cryptopia account can easily be hacked if your email also hacked that why I changed to use Binance cause it has better secure level than Cryptopia. Otherwise Binance exchange has mobile app so I can easily trade with my smartphone only.

Its now official. After waitinng for four months Cryptopia closed my ticket #68130 - #59059 WITHOUT GIVING BACK MY MONEY SO THEY STOLE IT. Their strategy was to play time and bounce the ticket about five times and then finally just to close it as 'bulk'

Didnt I tell you folks this would happen?? So I lost 1.0 btc in this and hours of work tryin to recover the money. Do not trust these crooks!

Their pitiful closing comment was:

"We give at least one month’s notice period after such announcements for users to withdraw to their personal wallets before our wallet is decommissioned."

YES I KNOW THAT, THATS WHY I WITHDRAWED MY FUNDS BEFORE THAT, BUT YOU BLOCKED IT AND STOLE MY MONEY!!

I will make this a police business now, will contact the police department that is close to their headquarters.

Some people at cryptopia got a response within 2 days and problem fixed.  It wasn't for a deposit or withdraw problem but it was a wallet getting 0 connection problem.  So they have people that responds when they need to.  It seems they are giving the run around for people when it comes to deposit and withdraw.  Paving time.

There was a post about group of people wanting to file charges on Cryptopia today because lack of support for their deposits and withdrawl who's been waiting for month or more  but it was quickly erased by moderators.

they charge a lot of btc for a new coin listing , but in name of support 0 rating .
even i don't like its interface and trading experience .
we have many better option than cryptopia .

but main query was safe and legit ! so it is legit but not 100% safe in case of issues. .

I have deposit, trading, and withdrawal several times already and no problem at all, I read a lot of complaints but they already solved those issues I don't want to say that it's not going to happen again but so far Cryptopia is legit although there are backlogs in their support ticket, I recommend to trade with cautions.

When it does work it works like expected but the support is horrendous.  Waiting weeks if not months for support ticket is frustrating.

There are still people who's missing deposits and withdrawals over a month.  Cryptopia is really a hit and a big miss.

I think now the fee from cryptopia is big enough
so I rarely visit or store coins there
unless I have a high priced coin in Cryptopia I prefer to exchange it because the description of the place is easier and lighter

I left for quite months on trading with cryptopia but when I cameback and look for their Ann thread I find out that their's so many problems pending on their site and it turn's me off and that make me step out and find another trading site where I can sit back and relax on my own trades. Cryptopia is compromised site for now and I don't want to get hook by pending problems so I advice to any people to find other relevant one.

I don't have any problem too with cryptopia. cryptopia now become a larger exchange and I read on some websites that give a new information that cryptopia are not open the new registration again because they are overload and I think they need to change their server so they can accept more member in their site.

Exactly, I am facing problems with Hitbtc compared to cryptopia because of Hitbtc is charging for deposits and this is the first time I am hearing they are charging for deposits. Even sometimes we are facing withdrawal issues and their support system are not accurate.

I also had never problems with deposits/withdrawals. But I always do a research on cryptocurrencies, I want to deposit/withdraw, if wallets need updates or how network is doing. The second aspect is, don't entrust all your funds to third party/only one exchanger.

I haven't used cryptopia but it seems that many are complaining. And for those that are looking for a response from their CEO.

I found this out, read their CEO's response and I guess this is a legit one as other comments are seriously giving him suggestion on what to do.

Response from the Cryptopia CEO (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3031126.0)

Response from the Cryptopia CEO

Please firstly accept that we are not scammers. No one is going to take your coin or funds as long as we can keep the bad guys out and we are doing a huge amount of work to prevent any attacks.

The problem is worldwide in that all trading platforms are short staffed due to the massive growth in popularity of Cryptocurrency trading.  We are recruiting as fast as we can in all areas and of course, once recruitment is completed we then have to train people.  As you can imagine, we have to be very careful about who we recruit and how we get people trained.

One of my many jobs is to help solve these issues as fast as we can and being that I have just arrived I cannot make it happen today. Please hang in there with us as we do our very best to attend to all outstanding matters and keep you all informed.

Trying to contact me privately or via other social media or in some cases even though my family is pretty futile, we can’t solve technical issues and it won’t move you up the queue.

We’ve been working hard over the last few weeks to establish new working and highly functional processes which should start making things not only more efficient but more focused. We know that there’s been a level of frustration around a number of issues and I ask that you bear with us as we resolve problems as they occur.

One of the biggest areas of focus currently is improving our support service. We’re training new staff and hiring as fast as we can and in addition, improving the UI for better messaging and launching an external knowledge base that will better enable users to troubleshoot their own issues.

Some of the issues you face have not necessarily originated on our platform. Coins can have bugs of their own and poor support that simply gets handed on to us as we are the public-facing component of the process, we are the first and last link in the chain that affects you.  We are careful when listing to make sure we have done as much testing as possible.

You will see a regular post from me from here on in to keep you all as informed as I can. We are not going bust, we are not running away, yes we are struggling but we will be there and we will continue to improve. We also thank you for your support.

― Edwin Louis Cole once said>>>
“You don't drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there.”

Alan Booth
CEO Cryptopia

He said that we will see a regular post from him, anyone seen him lately?

Cryptopia is loaded with new coins. They will take almost any new coin and I think that doing so they get extra work to manage all those new small and larger coins.
Some coin devs are not so serious and hard to work with so wasting time with them is also inevitable. That is just my guessing. I did not have problems with them, but a lot of people are.

I am in the United States and wonder if they follow all of the regulations and rules? Just wondering if anyone in the USA has any experience bitcoin trading on this exchanger? Thanks :)
The marketplace is not safe, and poorly managed. Sellers can place an ad where they show up as having a 5-gold-star trust rating, when they actually have 0 trust and 0 feedback. You have to click on the trust rating to see that. Marketplace full of scammers and links to scam websites.

I also have no problems with cryptopia except for the occasional delayed withdrawal or deposit. 90% of the time it is fine. You have to check the "Coininfo" on cryptopia and make sure the wallet is working well.  And if you're sending/receiving a shitcoin, well you should expect that there might be problems no matter what exchange you use.  I usually convert to a standard non-shit-coin like DOGE or LTC before withdrawing.  And never keep more money on cryptopia than you are prepared to lose.  They're operating a lot of shitcoin wallets, and if they don't review the open source code of each carefully, or worse, if they're being sloppy and installing binaries, their servers could quite easily be compromised.

Why would your email get hacked? Your email you should protect with all available measures. Secure password, never reuse a password, secure browser that you don't access shady websites on, secure computer or phone that you don't access shady websites on, don't click on shady links or downloads from your email, etc.  Personally I like not having to use google authenticator like binance and many of the other exchanges force you to. Fuck that. I have secure email, I don't need that shit. What a pain in the ass.

I've had web email for over 20 years and it has never gotten hacked. But watched plenty of other people (usually elderly) get their email hacked. I can only assume the fault was theirs.

I suppose trading from your phone might be convenient at times, if unwieldy, but sounds too risky if it is the same phone you get your 2fa from, or access random crypto-related websites from.

Based in Christchurch, New Zealand, Cryptopia was founded by Adam Clark and Rob Dawson.
So if you want you can go to the web and look in the Christchurch, NZ phone directory for a phone number.
But I don't think they're going like you shouting at them on the phone when other people are waiting in line with their support tickets.

In my humble opinion, Cryptopia is a B rated exchange and I say this because their support is non-existent. My account was hacked by someone on the same exchange. There is no way they could have hacked my password so I'm starting to wonder about the exchange and their ability to keep investments safe. Opened up a support ticket and it has been over 30 and I have not heard back from them. This is not the way to support your users. I strongly suggest you find a different exchange, one that cares about it's clients.

Cryptopia exchange I used and felt safe. However, the trading volume of cryptopia is quite small so the liquidity is not good in some altcoins. Please see the trading volume of the altcoin you want to trade before using. This exchange is improving quite a lot, but there are quite a lot of garbage altcoins, the support team is not very good.

Cryptopia is one of the very few platforms that was developed without bad intentions hidden under the hood. At least easy to spot ones such as the options to disable email confirmations required for withdrawal paired with the inability to change your email address.

Many exchanges will not allow you to change your email address, which can be a big issue if you no longer have access to said email account.

So if an exchange requires email confirmation, you can't access email and can't change it, your screwed unless support helps.

With cryptopia the option can be disabled though you certainly will want to enable 2fa.

Always make certain to backup your master 2fa keys in a safe manner, such as PGP.

You need to know that Cryptopia exchange got hacked few days back and still they didn't come online and also didn't provide any information about how much they lost for this security breach so its no more safe to use and better find some other exchange with good reputation and security.

I think using exchange is always risky. I had problems with bittrex, having a verified account that they blocked for some time without a reason. Now I began to use exchangers without registration, for example, changenow, it is really easier and more profitable sometimes. However, everyone must decide for himself what is better.

Indeed, only the use of services without registration can protect against loss of funds. Of course, this will not guarantee full protection, but it reduces the risk. I have never used exchanges with registrations, preferring exchangers, for example, those specified in previous messages.

There are many attacks against cryptopia but I have traded with them without too much problems and I have done several withdrawals from cryptopia several times without any problems.

Cryptopia stole more than 15 million dollar of people money and closed their website.it is scammer.
It is not yet proved that it was exit scam. Investigation is going on, people can only ensure after the report. TllIt may be hacking or may be exit scam. No one surely tell anything.

It was utterly an exit scam. I can't believe that one of the few good exchanges just let the bear period made them to stop operating. And don't rely on their own investigation. Hence, let's wait for the authorities handle it because it's just like what happened to Bitgrail and they are now ordered to return the stolen funds.

It's good for you but not for everybody. If someone still interested with cryptopia, I won't advise them to proceed. There are other more trusted and reputable exchanges out there to trade with and if you're someone who's been into news.

You will understand why many don't suggest to trade with cryptopia anymore. This is one sad fact that when something bad happens to an exchange people should be more aware of the next events and must pull out funds from them.

Cryptopia is already hacked. Why people are still yalking about trading there? Don't you know what happened? It's in investigation process for last 1 month and still there is no update from them.

I don't know, he just said that he never experienced any problem to them. I already warned him that he shouldn't used it and don't send any funds to them anymore if ever they will operate again in the future.

But if that's what he stands for or he isn't aware that the website isn't working anymore and is under investigation. If the investigation is ever done, still don't trade again there it's just a piece of advice that will save your money in the future.

Hi. I have been browsing coinmarketcap and see some good looking coins that are listed on Cryptopia. But, are they safe to use? I am in the United States and wonder if they follow all of the regulations and rules? Just wondering if anyone in the USA has any experience bitcoin trading on this exchanger? Thanks :)

If I am not mistaken, cryptopia at the moment has been running for under maintenance in 3 weeks almost I think.
I don't know what happened actually. In fact, I have loyalcoin in this platform, I am hoping my token will not be lost.
Actually, its not that cool for me though as far as I know it was owned by Russian people if I am not mistaken.

Cryptopia has been hacked since January 14 possibly. You should have seen the message in their website. There are no update from investigation team too. Don't know if it's a exit scam or a real hack. Hope for the betterment.

I think that we should stop treating Cryptopia as a reliable partner, although I have used them only once. 2fA authentication and email validation on withdrawal do not guarantee that your funds will remain secure. Hackers broke into Cryptopia and since I don’t see updates, I think the funds are lost.

I'm still hoping all the people get their coins back who haven't been stolen. Because the police got involved so fast, I still think it's not an exit-scam. No exchange is really 100% secure. You should be aware of that and never store coins there for a long time. However, here is the last update from the police on cryptopia. :)   http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/police-continue-make-progress-cryptocurrency-investigation

Considering the fact that this stock exchange was cracked and a large amount of money was stolen from it, the conclusion is that it is not safe, regarding legality, I will say that most of the stock exchanges work according to the laws, but not of all countries, so would refrain from trading on this exchange.

They just experienced a hack in their exchange I guess it's better to just stay out of the exchange for now pending the time that they will resolve the issues on ground so as to be on safer side

Still a no for me I never want to trade in Cryptopia again I have no coins there anymore, they have been hacked the second time, and unless they pass the hacking test and investors can prove that they are safe now, we should shun investing in Cryptopia, there are new and better exchange now in the market, and ask the devs of the coins you are supporting not to list their coins there.

A hacking test? What the heck is that? Is there really such thing because as far as I know nothing is safe, even our wallets.
There's no need to use cryptopia again or we will be the biggest fool, if ever you have your funds there better to move it now as you had given the chance to recover your funds. No more ifs and buts.

Cryptopia's reputation has been tainted already.
And for the hacking test. Maybe he was referring to security check.
But even if they assure their clients to have tight security protocol, still the confidence of using that exchange is already lost.
This is what you will see when you open their site.

I wonder if they can still get their old clients back.
And to add, their listing fee is very expensive as compared to others.
