Sucks that we are in 2018 and this still hasnt happened! I dont think that means that it definitely wont happen.

But if amazon accepted crypto that would cause a massive adoption spike which would be amazing.

This is pretty far from reality by now. Especially when steam removes bitcoin as their primary option of payment because of having the same problem all over again(which is the unbelievable fees). When the amazon saw it they might be more careful in allowing bitcoin to enter their market

I dont think that Amazon is likely to accept Bitcoin in the near future. Companies like Amazon wont just add a currency as payment method that isnt recognized by the authorities. I think that there needs to be a regulatory framework around crypto before we will witness such a thing. Maybe this wont become a reality with Bitcoin, but with another cryptocurrency that is regulatory compliant like cardano. Time will tell, but Im certain that sooner or later we will be able to buy stuff with our crypto at these big companies like amazon as well.

Amazon.com as far I know is already bitcoin accepted, this is what I knew regarding about it. Due to if your going to check their site you can see they sell any mining rigs then you can pay it using Bitcoin. But this is just what I saw before when I opened their website.

This is not very likely when you have to spend 20$ of fees to buy a 2$ object and it can take days to confirm the transaction. Nor Amazon nor any big retail would ever adopt Bitcoin if there is only the remote possibility of something like that happening.

Given the size and reach of Amazon, I wouldn't be so sure that they will just accept Bitcoin or another pre-existing coin. They could launch their own coin with Amazon-specific perks and do pretty good.
