Hello guys , I would like to ask this from more veteran people here if MEW or shall we say myetherwallet.com is safe or not..?
Some of my colleagues said that myetherwallet is not safe because there maybe some intruders with wide and depeest knowledge
When it comes to security bypass could get access of your account at myetherwallet? Please
Help me answer this if mew is safe or not.. Is this a user fault to expose their private key or there is.someone could really
Access our account .. using security bypass? Please thank you.

Honestly, I think it's secure, myetherwallet developers don't have access to your private keys, which means everyone must control and secure their keys. I haven't ever heard myetherwallet got hacked, just some people who lost their private keys and claim it has been hacked. Even most web wallets for bitcoin seems can not be hacked, unless you are reckless and the private keys could be accessed by the thief. The same theory for myetherwallet, electrum, blockchain, it's safe.

yeah right, Indeed I just want some clarification to those people here that has more knowledge than me .. just to tell this to one my of colleague that myetherwallet is safe and perhaps,she just  being reckless not to take her of privatekey .. afterall she s still insisting .. but by the way thanks mate for addressing my issue..

Well base on what i experience of using MEW for me its safe i still never experience any issue of using it from receiving ethereum and receiving token from ICO's . I believe that who told you about didn't know how MEW secured wallet..
So i just wanted to say that for me its safe wallet ever than the other web wallet..

I think it is a safe place to store those tokens and some shitcoins ERC20 from an airdrops that some get to it. Based on my experience MEW or myetherwallet is a safe crypto coin wallet and it would be best if you combine it with a hardware wallet just like Ledger and the likes. There are also wallets you can use to store those tokens you have or get from anywhere else just like imToken and MetaMask they are secured wallets too.

I finally confirmed that myetherwallet was safe and the best ethereum web wallet .. And you can also make a paper wallet which you can print its qr code than saving it on your social media acc or telegram .. maybe it is just a user fault where they re saving their private key on their respective social media accounts .. or maybe they just put it on any of the airdrops form .

Myetherwallet.com is safe as long you didnt give your private keys to anyone and no one would able to bypass or bruteforce myether site even that site doesnt have the possession of our keys which means our wallets our totally safe.The thing about nothing on this world cant be bypass since only people do create them which it can be access too but talking on the hashes and probability then it would really be hard for them.

Yes, it is very secure and safe if you know you are following the guide on what's do's and don't. Yes, I believe it's users' fault if he got hacked and it will only happen if they become a victim of phishing and they did not notice that they are logging on a fake site.

This is the wallet i used to keep my ethereum coin and i think it was secured because it has private key which you are the only one who knows that key, and i think it is  ot hard to hack until you do not disclosed to other your key. I used this morethan 6months and i do not encounter any problem in my withdrawal and deposit that is why i recommend MEW to store your ethereum coin but it is your own risk.

So my assumption of this discussion was moved to securities, well I'm wrong on that part of transferring it to alt coin service discussion.

Myetherwallet is very much recommendable wallet to the people who use to stock some ERC20 tokens aswell with eth tokens, They are been used by many people around the globe, And the only treat for this is the owner since they are the one who's handling it and if their balance will be hack then the owner will be the one who will blame for the incident since he is the one who's responsible for his own private keys.


More trusted than any other wallet I think and I would recommend this to the ethereum users also.

I am observing this wallet first because i am not fun of ethereum coin, lately i start investing in ethereum and i will used this wallet to keep my ethereum hoping that it would be more trusted and not lost my coin. But since many feedback is positive i think it was a legit and safe wallet but i  not putting all my ethereum in that wallet.

I'm just normal user who's used this service, we don't know when will they turn away into SCAM( A.K.A Run with our money) but let see..

I have been using mew for quite some time right now, and honestly I can say it is safe. But we cannot deny that lately it have been a target of phishing attacks using slack and other messaging apps. If the person is not well versed in protecting their private keys or verifying the links they are clicking, their eth wallet will be hacked. But that is not the mew's fault anymore, but a user's.

So what should we do to avoid those phishing site .. what the do and dont's of protecting our private key for us to feel safe ?  But honestly I began to to feel safe on myetherwallet.com , for how many days that I've been monitoring my threads thanks to all of your comments and advices . It is safe if you only know what you are doing. The main problem with users nowadays is they only aim for the free airdrops without knowing anything. They lack knowledge like how to safely use their wallet. I bet they don't even know what's the difference between public key and private key.

No its not actually on the changing address.It might have a part but the thing here is that we should not really expose our private keys this is the most important rule here on bitcoin or cryptoworld where private keys should really be keep on private. Myetherwallet is safe and ive been using it ever since specially on storing up etherium based coins.I do love the convenience and the user-friendlyness of such wallet.

Nope ethereum and bitcoin is diffrent in many  aspects .. yeah they are same crypto currency, they are the two cryptocurrency who has the highest reputation in the cryptoworld this day infact they were both profitable .. But the fact is that Ethereum will never be bitcoin.

Mew is safe, no one get access to your account except you are careless about your private keys or keystore

I think MEW is safe. Private key is the only way you can open your wallet that is why it is very important to keep your private key safe, never give it to anyone else. If there is any site who ask for your private key, never ever give it. It's you and you alone who will know it.

I have a question ? How about the developer of this website and we both know that every website has a database right? So the.developer has a chance to steal all of our money because they are the one that has the.list of our very own private key and in just one moment  they could bug down this web wallet .. This is.just a situational question and I dont have any proof of this conclusion, just want a clarification ,if could this posibly happen ?

Afaik MEW doesn't supported forgotten password request because they don't have any database about our accounts.

Absolutely mew is safe. But we shouldnt click external mew links cause of phishing danger. I wrote mew adress to a notepad as a txt file. And when i need to login i copy and paste from the txt. Very safe method!

As long as if you don't share your private keys with others then it always safe. I am using it on daily basis and I never faced any problems in terms of transaction and securities. Better check twice before clicking the exact link to the website.

As allready saided MeW is safe if you look at the address of the website and the right ssl certificate. When you not giving out your private key or input it anywhere else in scammin sites theré is no problem with it.

Practically it's safe as far my friends and colleagues have to say about it because basically, you have your own freedom to your etherwallet meaning the developers has no access or privileged to intervene or do something conspicuous about your wallet you'll just to need to provide a safe and sure password and do not tend to view in public especially when there are so many suspicious people around you.

For me personally, MEW is a very safe wallet and certainly has an excellent security system to avoid very bad (hacking) possibilities. But the other security issue is the owner of private key or wallet of each individual, because there are some people who are very stupid in doing the analysis or keep secret data of their wallet so that theft is the main thing they most often get. One thing we do have to do is make double security, in order not to lose.

Actually, MEW has the best security for eth wallet saving balance and transactions, all what we see that somebody can steal our ETH is fake, if anybody ever lose their ETH on MEW i suppose they can't keep their key and others human error

i think myetherwallet is safe as long as you can save your private keys and not give it to other people. but yes although myetherwallet is safe, its not guarantee for us and maybe the hacker can found a way to get into your account. but so far, i think every tokens that is safe in myetherwallet is safe and other people can access your account if they don't have private keys.

I've been using Myetherwallet for so long and still no issues that I experienced regarding the wallet. But I noticed the increase of victims because of phishing links, just beware and be careful when visiting them. Bookmark them for more safety.

well for me myetherwallet is very safe, because other said that because they've been even they are using MEW, it is because their fault and negligence too. Perhaps, they've been involve in slack apps of course once you sign up in you will give your email address then somebody send them to their email abut the myetherwallet link then they click it, were they do not know its an open door for the hacker to get their access to there private key and eth address that's why somebody got hacked by it.

That all depends on the users. Carelessness is the only thing that will lead for their wallet to get hacked. There are hundred of thousands of users and if it isn't safe then MEW would not still  be operating at this time and they are totally out of the system.

myetherwallet is really one of the best wallet used by the people and the crowd  of people on that wallet means that people are feeling safe on that wallet. Suppose if there were any issue to people or any risk for the users of myetherwallet then there would have many complaints against that and people left would be very less. You have always to check, if the url you typed in, is the right one. There are a lot phishing sites around. Best thing you can do is, to make a bookmark of the real site (and only use this bookmark). Never follow links to MEW from mails, chats, other websites, etc. If you do this, I think that MEW is safe to use.

For me, Myetherwallet is 99 percent secure. It's from the user why their account was hack or why others access their account. First, because of human error, mistake or fault. I encountered an issue of phishing,they sent me a spam messege they say someone is accessing my wallet and i need to secure by clicking the link but i did not click it because my friend told me that's a scam. As my experience on using mew i would say that
Most of wallets that are been scammed and been empty are because of wrongful use of private keys
An example of it is
-for some reasons there are campaigns such as airdrop, Facebook, Twitter and etc campaign that requires to fill up some of information about you, and by these most of users specially beginners are mis understand the form and put thier private keys on eth address section
- the other one is when you log in your private key on some pishing sites... It is a site that are a repleca/ mimic of myetherwallet owned and created by scammers
-and the wrongful exposing your private keys in some sort of social media

I would not safe it is 100% safe because 2 of my friends are been scammed and emptied their wallet.
If i rate mew according on my experience as of now I would rate it 78% safe... It is because i dont seen any problem on my wallet right now.. Being scammed is maybe because of our own fault of wrongful and carelessly using of our private keys. We users of mew should keep our private keys in safe because we are responsible for our own security.

all wallets are at risk for hacking but if we keep the privatkey and other keys correctly and no one else knows our wallet will remain safe, do not let anyone else know our privatkey because if there is someone else or we accidentally share it forum then it could be our wallet will be vulnerable from hacking .. then from that we must be careful that the contents in our wallet remain well stored.

Myetherwallet is safe, just don't give your private key to anyone and be aware there is a lot of phishing site trying to copy MEW. 

I think it's safe, as long as we keep the private key well, because only we own and know it, developers can not control their keys with our account.

MEW is a safe and better ETH wallet and also ERC20 tokens wallet.

I like the way on how we can have an easy access on MEW. I haven't seen a wallet that is like that, lite weight and fast in accessing.

Others do have email authentication though it's needed but sometimes it makes me feel lazy to confirm it, choosing your own way of accessing is really convenient.

They don't store your private keys. If someone hack MEW they can't get your private keys.
You are wrong, if you share your private keys no one has to be hacker to take your funds - it is like leaving your money in public place - if someone take money it is not stealing because you left it there.

Quick question on MEW security. When you use it to log in to your wallet you have to use your JSON file and password. If someone hacked their domain and changed the code so these were transmitted, is there a risk of losing control of your wallet? Does the HTTPS certificate guarantee it hasn't been hacked? Or just that you're on the right website? I know people say private key isn't transmitted, but if someone took control of the domain, or a malicious developer for MEW injected some code, is there a chance it could be hacked and keys could be stolen? Are we trusting the website to be fully secure and no malicious actions from devs ever to take place?

MEW is the most safest wallet of ethereum, but if you can't used it properly, your earnings will possibly disappear like bubble. To assure the security of MYETHER wallet it's better if you change your wallet pin every 2-3 months or else used alphanumeric plus special character in the password.

This are the best way to secured the wallet of myether together with the other crypto currency wallet.

I use mew and I dont have yet token or money in there but I knew that mew is secured for me unless you share your private key its not secured anymore and safe and you keep it in private that your only one know it. its secured for you dont share the private key if you dont want to lose everything in your mew and mew is your life.

It is very safe compared to trading sites. I have used it many times and I can say it is very reliable. It's very confusing at the start but you'll get it in a few days and always don't forget to bookmark the site.

I need to move from Mist which is a complete pile of garbage (syncing nightmares that cannot be resolved in any way including using LITE client). I don't understand how the community can feel comfortable about uploading a keystore file then entering a password to decrypt the private key on MyEtherWaller.com. Or are we talking about using the local version here only? 

1.) You uploaded a file, how do you know it's not saved for all posterity?
2.) How can we be sure a rogue/under duress developer doesn't modify the code to send all uploads to a special account somewhere?
3.) How do we know that password we entered isn't saved in the same way too.

Myetherwallet for me become the safest wallet ever, really worth to save your ETH in there.
but i advice you don't save too much in there, im just afraid if you just share your private key by mistake, that would be a fatal.
Someone could reach your wallet and get all your eth that you save, i said this because this is ever happen to me

I am using it from my beginning but never faced any problem with MEW . I think as long as if you don't share any personal info about you MEW then it is good to hold as long as possible.

it is safer than you pc , your connection and location of your seed you keep.
So you should cary about other safety things like your pc antivirus and firewall is up to date or are you keeping your seed in safe position etc..

no, mew is not really safe at all because  mew is the famous eth wallet that mostly been attack by hackers and it is also prone to phising attempts. thats why it is recomended by mew to use or  link a hardware wallet for extra protection and to be  immune to exploits. if you dont have a hardware wallet , then much better if you can just set up a metamask .  metamask is a google chrome browser plugin or add on that can be downloaded on chrome store, you can now then link it to mew for a better security and accesibility.

Bypassing a mew wallet? Its not possible as long they cant able to crack your private key they cant do nothing to have an access into your wallet which I can say that MEW is safe for now. If you have seen the recent hack of Etherdelta. Some people do make false assumptions that MEW isn't safe because most people did able to lose their tokens because hacker did have an access to their mew but the truth is that its being accessed because hacker used DNS type of hacking which if you have logged in on the exchange without log-outing your account then for sure you would really lose your tokens.

ive been using myetherwallet for 4 months now and so far i dont experience any problems like stolen coins/tokens or hacking/phising attempts therfor i could honestly say that myetherwallet is a safe etherium erc20 wallet for all altcoins and tokens. however im also aware that mew lately has several problems or issues on some users that states there coins had lost inside their own wallets therfor you should be extra cautios when entering your private keys and always check the address bar before accesing any other site in order to avoid this kind of problem.

Myetherwallet is actually safe, unless you give to someone else your private key or post it in somewhere else in the forum for sure your MEW is not safe anymore. So if that's the case you need to create another one new wallet from your MEW. And it could be access by somebody if you click some fishing site which is related to your MEW then all of a sudden you know its a fake site it means you've been hack. 

The safety of myetherwallet depends on how the owner of the wallet protects his private key but from my experience I think its 75% safe to use as long as you dont get phished by clicking unknown links.

Safe or not depends on how you use it! But to be safe you should use in limited quantities! Carefully check the paths when log in wallet.

I'm using it for a long time. Never had any problems with MEW. I don't think you will have any problem till you don't enter your private key or Keystore file to fake site

Myetherwallet+Metamask is the best solution for ETH and Ethereum based tokens, imho. Just be sure you use right link for it. There are bunch of MEW phishing sites lately.

myetherwallet is safe because yesterday, I am trying to move some of my tokens to hitbtc and I have success to do it although the gas that I use become bigger. but I have a strange experience with mew, the first time I tried to send, it said that the token success to send with 40k of gas but after I check at etherscan.io, my transaction said that the gas it's not enough and is gone just like that. and after I repeat to send again but this time, I used 56k from 55k suggestion and it does not take too long to arrive in my hitbtc account.

as long as i use it, it's reliable. it's just that so many people are losing their coins there. probably because of a phishing site or something of the sort. safe or not, I guess it all depends on your caution.

I always use myetherwallet. It is safe depend on people who use it. There are people who got phising using myetherwallet. To prevend it always double check the url before you put ur secret key on it and password. All wallet safe is depend on the human who use it. But the safest way to keep your cerypto is offline wallet like trezor or open ledger.

In my opinion, this is a safe wallet. But on the forum there were topics that crypto-currencies were stolen. This is due to the negligence of the owners of the wallet. One of the mistakes (an example from one bounty campaign), when the field for the purse address was filled with a key.

Many people who are experts have being recommending this MEW wallet and also many times even heard from friend that MEW wallet is the safest among along. Do any body know will I get any notification when some tokens are credited for any particular coin? Say I forgot that 3 months before I had participated in something and I would receive the tokens now. So will their be any notification like new token received on site or on mail. I think myetherwallet for now is not secure because so many people lose token and eth, because people are not responsible for theft by means of brute force.

MEW is a legit wallet and those friends of yours are not the only that lost their balance to MEW but if you'll google "MEW Hacked" same problems will come out. in a weeks ago, I heard about several accounts in mew that got hacked but I don't think that it's from the user mistake because I read that there is a hole from the mew site and it's been used by the hacker to steal the coins. I've been using MEW for more than a year and I did not have any problems with this purse personally. Everything is simple, convenient and without any questions. The only thing you need to add a site to your bookmarks is to not accidentally go to a phishing site. As an alternative I can recommend the wallet JAXX.

Myether wallet is safe, because it was given unique password aside from the original password. However on the past months more accounts would be hacked due to unidentified reason, until now I cannot know what happen to my account because almost $3000 would vanished in split days. I already concerned it to the administrator but still not yet reply. Now I cannot used my MEW for the safety of my other coins, maybe if the amount lost in my account is back then that's the time I trust again into this wallet.

This is what new users don't do. They keep on using search engines like google and searching out myetherwallet through those platforms and ending up clicking those being advertised by google which is a phishing site. One member of my family using MEW and being hacked by someone else. So i suggest you should keep your private key safe in your google drive word, anything that suit you. And use metamask as well. Until now, Metamask have no problem, at least to me

Both MEW and Mycrypto is safe enough for me. I don't usually use json and I never use private key, I use Metamask connected to the Mycrypto for my daily use and Trezor with Mycrypto for the stagger solution.

i think, not possible as long they cant able to crack your private key they cant do nothing to have an access into your wallet which I can say that MEW is safe for now. If you have seen the recent hack of Etherdelta. Some people do make false assumptions that MEW isn't safe because most people did able to lose their tokens because hacker did have an access to their mew but the truth is that its being accessed because hacker used DNS type of hacking which if you have logged in on the exchange without log-outing your account then for sure you would really lose your tokens.

Exactly, even i want to express same because i am using it more than a year now and i dont face any problem till now. The major thing we have to keep all the information in safe place to protect our account. Before sending the private and secret information better try to check twice.

the most important thing that must be kept confidential and security is our Private Key, do not be given to others, lest anyone know besides our own and do not get lost. And if you accidentally give Private Key to others accidentally or unintentionally, then be sure that sooner or later the Coin - coin in your MEW account will be stolen. Moreover, if you forget or remove the Private Key that you have, then you will never be able to access your MEWmu account unless you find the private key again.

I think MEW is safest wallet to store ERC 20 token but we have to secure our wallet all possible ways. Otherwise, we will end up loosing those coins, it always good not share any of your personal information regarding wallets.

For increased security, you can run MyEtherWallet on your computer instead from the website. You can generate a wallet completely offline .. and there is a way to generate offline transaction as well. You only connect to internet when you are about send. I don't know the details of it, but I suppose this could happen to any domain. As far as I know, MEW's owners reacted fairly quickly, which is good. An additional browser extension like MetaMask (which is also recommended by the MEW) helps in these situations.

myetherwallet itself is completely safe. The problem is more on clone sites. Where you try to access your wallet and they in turn just stole your data. This is definitely a problem. The best part for me in myetherwallet, that you are the only one who is responsible for secure of your assets

I hope Mew wallet is very safe compared to other ERC20 coins and I have been using this Mew wallet for than 2 years. Still, using to store ERC20 coin but we have to check links twice because there are many phishing attacks are being happened.

MEW is always safe to use because inorder to store ERC20 token MEW is the best wallet. Sometime people don't know how to use them and keep complaining about the MEW wallet.

It will depend on the purpose of each person I think. First, if u decide on long-term investment and hold, using MEW will be insecure as the web can be attacked at any time. And if u`ve long-lasting hold, u have to use offline hardware wallet to be more secure. If regular trading, then uses the MEW and bookmark web to access to avoid access to the phishing site similar to myetherwallet.

I believe myetherwallet is one of the safest online wallet out there but i know some people getting hacked even though they are very cautious on their private keys, i suggest using json file instead of private keys to be honest since hacker can't have a copy of it unless he/she has an access to that.

After hacking Ian Balina's wallet, I do not consider the MyEtherWallet reliable. I think he had a good protection and even this did not help him. It's better to keep your money in cold wallets.

If he is a security concerned person then he would have not kept his coins in normal wallets . whether MEW is safe or not , but your pc is not safe completely . you will not know when someone inject malware or any other attack on your pc , thats why hardware walllets are recommended by experts .
