They only bring shame to the good name of bitcoin

bitcoin cash (this one has many people who dream that someday it would become bitcoin, as if it were possible)

bitcoin gold (scam)

bitcoin silver (a joke, "Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again")

bitcoin diamond (what will it be?)

There are forks every day, probably hourly in the past couple weeks. The only thing that gives credence to this shitty forks is the amount of supporters. I mean whether it's bitcoin gold, or bitcoin pink or w/e, it's all about how much fuss there is around it. If we stop giving these diarrhea-coins any importance, they will go away.

Anybody can clone/fork bitcoin so it is quite normal to see 100s of fork every year, some of them will get listed in exchange platforms others dies within few weeks.

All this clones are just trying to market their coin in the name of bitcoin and claim their coin is better than bitcoin.  ;D ;D

Sure, but it mean forks have relevance to Bitcoin. I sometimes read these forks just steal Bitcoin name, but with shared Bitcoin exact history, the name like Bitcoin Diamond is fair.

But at the end what matter is user support, so while Im very sceptical about Bitcoin Diamond, lets see what happens - privacy and fast transaction time might be usefull afterall.

I dont think its about replacing Bitcoin, but about delivery something which Bitcoin cannot. For example I found Bitcoin usefull as speculative investment only and Bitcoin Cash for actual usage. Maybe this one can deliver privacy, so while Im very sceptical about Bitcoin Diamond now, Im open minded.

Just ignore it, at the end of the day, the majority will support bitcoin and the rest will die or become alt. Anyone with some knowledge can fork bitcoin so a lot of fork is bound to happen, the difference is the amount of supporter behind the fork. Bitcoin will remain the number one of cryptocurrency.

why do you even care about forks? Bitcoin have been forked since day 1. The only difference is that those people that are forking now, invest a huge amount of money in PR, and let you people think they are doing something good. Ignore the forks. It's just a piece of bull....

I just checked their website. The ONLY thing this blockchain provides above and beyond Bitcoin's blockchain is an 8mb block size. That's significantly larger than Bitcoin.

But why should we expect this hard fork to work? There are have already been several attempts to scale Bitcoin's block size, and all have failed to bring down Bitcoin.

These feels like a shameless attempt to create an ICO by using the brand recognition and success of Bitcoin.

If anyone from the BTCD team is out here, it's time to start proving your worth to us. Otherwise, stop wasting our time!

It's what I'm doing with most forked coins. I'm only leaving myself a bit for the rough times. If anything happens and somehow BTC dies and people turn to BCH (which is like 5% chance, but still it exists, we can't rule it out) I will be left with some money to buy booze and keep myself drunk for a couple weeks to forget that I sold it all at $1000 to buy more bitcoin :D

I would ignore it if I were you. WTF is really happening now with all this fork? They are really all for the money and they don't care about the technology anymore. Its just a shame that people will stay fall from this kind of trap like what happened to bitcoin gold.

I'm guessing that the failed attempt by bitcoin cash two weeks ago, they think of another fork and try one more time to really down the market again. But they still don't get it, people are going to stick to bitcoin no matter what and no coins could surpass it in the next 10 years or more.

Yes, it is for real. They look they even started mining.

The weird thing there's already another altcoin called Bitcoin Diamond: http://bitcoin-diamond.org/ (http://bitcoin-diamond.org/)
There's even an investment company with the same name: https://bitcoindiamond.org/ (https://bitcoindiamond.org/)

I think all these forks and splits can only lead to uncertainty and confusion, specially among new investors.
But it's free market, there's no regulation and anyone can fork Bitcoin code, make as many altcoins as he wants and maybe even profit from it. If we like and want free unregulated market, we should accept pros and cons of it...

It seems to me that there are malicious forks and benign forks. Malicious forks try to hijack the Bitcoin blockchain, and are obviously destructive. Benign forks use the Bitcoin blockchain to jumpstart a new alt, and are unlikely to have any impact on the real blockchain. It seems that a benign fork is just a giveaway to Bitcoin users, and they are likely to benefit Bitcoin as long as they don't pretend to be the real Bitcoin, or to ask for a cash investment.

Check the altcoin section , probably we have them already :)

What is actually getting me angry is that with this load of forks there are going to be a lot of coins that will be used just to steal your BTC once you import your keys in their "official" wallet.
Always when you do this after the fork make sure you have moved your coins from that address in a new one on the original chain.

Indeed fork coins are bullshit. Hardly any was able to maintain its price. But today everyone is doing fork. This raises a question on bitcoin credibility. We did see the recent BCH pump. This fight between BTC and its forked coins can be ugly for the Bitcoin market. These forks one after the other aren't really healthy. But the decentralized nature of bitcoin can't help in stopping these bullshit forks. I think this is getting too much now. Some miners mere for personal gains are executing baseless forks. Kinda fed up of them.

Be ready to see more in future. A fork itself is not bad basically, Bitcoin already showed us that it's the king lol. But if we see a fork every month of the year then there is something wrong. Look like it's the latest method to make free money using people. Another cover instead of the ICO etc perhaps.

A lot of forks are on the way right now, there is a new fork called bitcoin silver, and now this shitty fork called bitcoin diamond, i am 100% sure that they all will turn scam. The new forks are now like they were before, now all the forks are created in order to steal private keys from the real bitcoin holders in order to make themselves a little bit more wealthy.
It is not good, better to keep using your funds and earn money with that, instead of trying to get more by using this fork for getting a few hundreds more.
9/10 forks are scam nowadays.

Indeed there are too many forks, and most of them are not adding anything to the altcoin world, but a quick profit for the makers of the coin.
I don't know what Bitcoin Diamond is about (is there even an announcement thread here?), but I would not give too much credit for now. At least not so much, that you should move your coins. As said before, people and exchanges are also not amused by the amount of forks flying around.

Well, it's not like anyone really has to get invested in something like that. Forks exist but the worst part is that there are people who actually believe that one fork or another is going to legitimately make them some money. If everyone ignored the shitty forks that exist (and often are nothing more than a copied blockchain with maybe some minor additions), we would have a lot cleaner crypto economy and less variants of the same BS constantly.

The only people making money on these forks are those that initiate them. I'd like to see some numbers and info on who creates what forks and what ICOs.

Not quite sure if its a fork or just another altcoin out of shell. Whatever it might be its aimless and direction less. Its not like anyone would just come up and split btc into two without any reason. Quite strange

It is a real joke man, next time there will be bitcoin star, bitcoin universe, bitcoin solar, bitcoin sun, moon etc. These hard forks are ruining the reputation of bitcoin, they can't avail to make their own altcoin with other names but putting the name of bitcoin in shame. I don't know what these devs took and eaten for doing this for several times, they never contented on one coin only. Don't put more of your attention to these hard forks, they are all messed up.

why do you even care about forks? Bitcoin have been forked since day 1. The only difference is that those people that are forking now, invest a huge amount of money in PR, and let you people think they are doing something good. Ignore the forks. It's just a piece of bull....

Well you are right about forks that happened in the past. Especially in the early days of when bitcoin first came out and was full of like 10,000 different bugs and issues. Nowadays people worry more about forks for the possibility of free coins that may result as a result of fork and so forth.

It is just another attempt to damage the image of bitcoin and sow the idea that the ecosystem is deeply divided and everyone wants to separate at this time.

But these attempts to discredit bitcoin are already bordering on ridicule and very few are those who take seriously these fake news as they appear, disappear.

This is getting ridiculous. I checked QoinPro‏ twitter account and i was surprised since they are talking about another fork on December "Super Bitcoin - #SBTC fork coming on December 17, stay tuned!".
Bitcoin is on an open source code, thus anyone can impose a hard fork. Anyway, no reason to be afraid since there is no reason for nodes and miners to support these forks and we will soon forget about them.

Christmas will be very good for the whales who are perpetrating this fraud. All these forks are caused a lot of FOMO money to be tied up in bitcoin with the hope of free coins, ultimately pumping the price upwards. Personally waiting for the dump to happen which unfortunately will trap a lot of people who bought at these highs.

Seriously, bitcoin is very much in need of fast transaction times and a reduction in its cost. If in the bitcoin this improvement is not carried out, then let such improvements go to his new clones. Let it be bitcoin-diamond. The main thing is that all these coins work. Let the skeptics sneer.

Let's get real, these forks are here to stay, people are making money off them, I don't see that stopping.

Just like altcoins back then, people got mad at them for being Bitcoin clones with slight modifications, but some actually stayed and became successful.

Some people qualify these forks as dividends for Bitcoin Holders, do you think this is worth exploring ?

What could be the role of these Alt-Bitcoins in let's say, 3 to 5 years ?    Do you think they represent a threat to the current scarcity based model of Bitcoin?

Obviously, there's a real situation that needs to be addressed.

I see it as trying the new forked Bitcoin for free, whether it is usefull for me or not. I would not buy new altcoin just to test it out. So I see Bitcoin forks as a good way for many people to test the coin, and if it brings something usefull it get decent userbase fast.

Not a threat to Bitcoin, for these Alt-Bitcoins to become used, they must bring something which Bitcoin cannot offer. I see Bitcoin usefull for speculative investing and high value transfers only. So there are different use cases for Alt-Bitcoins, especialy small value transfers. But the privacy might be usefull as well.

No one knows on what would be the roles of those forked coins on 3 to 5 years time but im sure they would really just the same on those traditional alts in the market which do have still some active traders or investors who do play on its price. For now if theres another fork into bitcoin which would be named Bitcoin diamond then i wont really be surprised anymore and i do expect that there would really be more upcoming.

There are more and more forks of bitcoin announced each day but most of them are completely worthless and have very very little support. Eventually people will realise they are a complete waste of peoples time and won't even bother to create a market for them, maybe then we won't see so many forks. For as long as people can make money doing it then it will happen.

The transaction times with BID are damn near instantaneous and it's already got 1 gigahashes on the pool that launched hours ago.

If they fix their website and figure out something to do with it, it will be a winner I think. POS/POW. New blockchain. Network faster than the ROI coin released a few days ago. I mined that for a day and it took 18 hours to confirm a payout and it's listed higher than BID right now on the shitcoin exchange. Terrible.

But I'm not investing money in it. I'm moving around a bunch of mined new ass alts.

In my opinion, this is for real but, BTC is still the center of the cryptocurrency universe. BTC Diamond could have the same fate with BTG and BCH, we may never know when will BTC be dethroned, or will it ever be dethroned? BTC is king for now even though it's still in the early stages of development and will soon be mainstream. Forks will still happen in the future because improvement of technology never stops.

Why dont they just create their own coin without bringing the name of bitcoin. They can add any features they want and do anything they want with it it doesnt matter if they are a fork from bitcoin or not.
They must understand that it is not the name that will carry on their coin but it is the development of that coin.

The developers said that they're not trying to compete with bitcoin, as if anyone would believe this. They will be releasing 210 million coins where as bitcoin only has 21 million, their purpose is to lower the threshold for new users. They also raised the blocksize to 8MB like what bitcoin cash did.

i though this fork will have some kind of influence to bitcoin or something

They only bring shame to the good name of bitcoin

bitcoin cash (this one has many people who dream that someday it would become bitcoin, as if it were possible)

bitcoin gold (scam)

bitcoin silver (a joke, "Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again")

bitcoin diamond (what will it be?)

dont undermind Bitcoin CAsh,  its the only competitor to BTC, its backed by very important people in the crypto community. these guys are developers, not hedgefun traders. i follow them.
as a trader, you should buy 2-3 BCH for every 0.5 Bitcoin you own.  its a good hedge

i though this fork will have some kind of influence to bitcoin or something

They only bring shame to the good name of bitcoin

bitcoin cash (this one has many people who dream that someday it would become bitcoin, as if it were possible)

bitcoin gold (scam)

bitcoin silver (a joke, "Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again")

bitcoin diamond (what will it be?)

All these forks and nothing good comes from it. Kind of sad how easy it is to decide to just fork bitcoin and makes millions of dollars. Is 2018 the year of the forks? Bitcoin Up, Bitcoin Down, Bitcoin Cool, Bitcoin Sad, ..lol

I believed this is another calculated attempt to undermine the value of bitcoin, after trying with bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold failed and coming again with bitcoin diamond is a clear indication of some underground conspiracy to brings down bitcoin at all cost and  a selfish agenda of few individuals to the detriment of majority holders of bitcoin.
Some guy already made bitcoin diamond on another page its website bitcoindiamond.in and its working quite well i like how they made it The code seems to be working fairly well.. A good competition for the fork if they are bragging about speed lets see how they match the speed.

Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) (https://finasko.com/crypto/bitcoin-diamond/) is a fork of Bitcoin that occurs at the predetermined height of block 495866 and therewith a new chain will be generated as the BCD. Bitcoin Diamond miners will begin creating blocks with a new proof-of-work algorithm, and will consecutively develop and enhance the protection for account transfer and privacy based on original features of BTC. This will cause a bifurcation of the Bitcoin blockchain.

There are many exchanges and wallets which support Bitcoin Diamond. You find the list here - List of Exchanges & Wallets Supporting Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) (https://finasko.com/crypto/list-exchanges-wallets-supporting-bitcoin-diamond-btd/)

They are not very good at spelling: "paasword recovery" but the other site has a very cool background =)
https://bitcoin-diamond.org/

This is the main site though, don't know about the other two. Its now forked and launched:

This little thing is trying to add some privacy features to the original Bitcoin by forking it. I don't know if it works or not but the fork is about to happen today within few hours.
Binance is providing Bitcoin diamond at 1:10 ratio so if anybody wants some free money then get into Binance.

Just another shitty friendly fork which will end up being just a scammy dump and pump coin. They are just using bitcoins name to bring them ahead of the market, but that is likely to be happening. There are tons of such shit coins and you can ignore them without any issue. Or just dump them when you claim yours.

Hard forking Bitcoin isn't hard enough and it's unlimited and everyone can do it since there's no limitations in developing Blockchain system. Some developers are choosing to fork Bitcoin so that their project will gain fame instantly and that's what Bitcoin hard forks were become like Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold.

There is no limitations and regulations for ICOs and new Cryptocurrencies and so as Hard forking Bitcoin.
Like Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold, they gained fame right after the fork. It is indeed more effective than creating a brand new project and name it whatever they like.

Indeed, people will less confuse regarding with the new hard fork because of it's name. But me personally, I don't see any problem on making hard forks out of Bitcoin, the source-code are almost alike except for some settings changes and other advance features the will bring more scalability and security.

It's important to understand that these forks are basically just creating altcoins that want to ride off of btc's technology and name.

This is a huge generalization, but I think it is safe to say that everyone would like btc to scale, transaction times and fees are just going to astronomically higher.
The technology is not closed, patented, or owned by anybody, so if someone wants to fork it than they are more than welcome to.
Thinking this way, it is no surprise that there are so many forks that are attempting to make btc better.

The big problem though, is that a lot of these forks are amateurish or unnecessary.
An even bigger problem than that is that they are more than often not backed by any community.
Blockchain tech has absolutely no inherent value to it, its just numbers really.
It only becomes valuable when a community puts a value to it.
So no community = no value.

The annoying after effect this has is it makes btc more volatile, but i the long run, I actually believe it helps to push btc to even further heights.
btc will become stronger because of btc diamon, ruby, sapphire, emerald, crystal, rainbow, or whatever dumb name people come up with.

This one is really confusing.  It says 1:1 fork, but some people are saying that since the Dev increased the total coins to 210 million (from 21 million BTC), they are doing a 10:1 fork ... how the heck does that work?  Can you really claim 10 BTD for every BTC on the blockchain?  Seems like the only way that could be accomplished if you had your coins on a exchange that was supporting the fork.

The max supply of Bitcoin Diamond tokens will be 210million BCD!
So it is true that for each single BTC which you hold you can claim 10 BCD!
That's also written on their website. -> http://btcd.io/ (http://btcd.io/)
However I still struggle how to claim these tokens. The listed wallets I have never heard of.
Will continue some digging and hope to find something useful.

Guys, whatever it is, don't rush into this. If the fork is for real, you just have to wait until it is stable, it is recognized, and starts trading on exchanges. The coins won't disappear, they'll always be there if you own Bitcoin, so don't rush into a greedy spiral to lose your coins. Learn from the mistakes of the past like Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold. Just be patient, and you'll be safe and secure.

Read the guides on this forum, wait for official news. Too many scams going on, it pays to be extremely paranoid.

Another fork? ))) The developers said that they are not competitors of BTC. They will issue 210 million coins, their goal is to lower the threshold for new users. They also increased the block size to 8 MB, as in BTC  :)

This is really getting out of hand. Groups should really stop forking btc even if it's just a joke that nobody would care about. It brings confusion and gives btc a bad name for likely being  a scam.

What the eff?!  ???
This is getting so confusing - its a tsunami of shitcoins!!

So let me get this straight.. there are THREE Bitcoin Diamond's??

One being the 'fork' of Bitcoin (BCD) http://www.btcd.io/index.html

One being this Altcoin (BID) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439554.0

And yet another being this Altcoin (BTD) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2394472.0

All launched this month!

Am I seeing this right?!

Be careful chasing these Diamonds, people.. Don't mess up and get the wrong one..

This plug has already occurred and we have in the collection bitcoins and bitcoin diamond. According to forecasts, his rate will be a tenth of bitcoin and will have some improvements. For example, the data on the amount of money in the wallet will already be hidden, which makes its anonymity quite good. I think experimenting in this direction is necessary, especially since the source bitcoin itself does not improve for a long time.

i though this fork will have some kind of influence to bitcoin or something

They only bring shame to the good name of bitcoin

bitcoin cash (this one has many people who dream that someday it would become bitcoin, as if it were possible)

bitcoin gold (scam)

bitcoin silver (a joke, "Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again")

bitcoin diamond (what will it be?)

BTG was a scam that I sold for 5.5 coins making 2 grand

Surely fork coins are horse crap. Scarcely any could keep up its cost. Yet, today everybody is doing fork. This brings up an issue on bitcoin believability. We saw the current BCH pump. This battle amongst BTC and its forked coins can be revolting for the Bitcoin showcase. These forks in a steady progression aren't generally solid. Be that as it may, the decentralized idea of bitcoin can't help in ceasing these horse crap forks. I think this is getting excessively now. A few mineworkers negligible for individual additions are executing outlandish forks. Kinda encouraged up of them.

I also got the bitcoin diamond on my wallet, I didn't know what it is at the beginning and then I did some research and I discovered that it is just a random bitcoin fork but I will  hold my bitcoin diamond because who knows maybe it will reach 1000usd in the future as bitcoin cash. I dump all my bitcoin cash before now  I regret it, so from now on I will hold all the bitcoin fork and see what happens.

yes bitcoin diamond... pffff... another split.... it makes me tired

but oke, i read this thread and the majority on this forum is telling that bitcoin diamond is a scam

all right: a scam....

but this new coin (bitcoin diamond) is about 35 dollar, so it is free money, isn't it?
why ignore then? isn't it useful to transfer it to an exchange and buy the *real* bitcoin?

or is it to dangerous, because of the handling of the private key, is THAT the problem, may be?

i don't know, please inform me about it

After the revelation that BitCoin Gold Wallet, which was linked on main webpage was a fraud.... You know everything is possible.

Link here: https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-gold-wallet-scam-nets-3-million-illicit-earnings/

Of course BitCoin Diamond can be considered as a free money. Nevertheless it is very harmful for Crypto market as whole -  i.e. the whole trend with btc forks with premined coins to just pump and dump it.

Long story short, after BitCoin Gold Wallet Scam you should be extra careful about using forked btc wallets.

so, you all do also change that fork-coin in bitcoin?

or you all stay off with your hands on that new fork-coin?

I ask that, because with bitcoin cash I made some easy bitcoin
(by changing bitcoin cash into bitcoin)

So still no blockchain or explorer or wallet for this, so looking like it is almost certainly a scam or at least a failed project.  Too bad.
