Met a girl who has been working on a restaurant for mere 200$ a month with some tips in hand. On a conversation she started to elaborate about her life and in between the conversation turned towards cryptocurrency. By the time, she stated she has got 300 bitcoin in her wallet. While the price was around $10 she has given it to her Sister to keep hold of it and keep it secure. Her sister has made use of it and invested into lot of properties. Now when asked about the bitcoin, she shows bare hands. Now she was unable to do anything, and surviving with the $200+ salary per month. Don't you feel pity, it really hurts on hearing the tearful words coming out from her.

The story is very sad. I am completely sympathetic to that girl. If you do not mind the bitcoin, and keep the bitcoin with you, do not give it to your sister, she is now a billionaire. There are many cases like her in my country. They think bitcoin will never be able to thrive as now, so they threw away their account. So I think the supply of bitcoin at the moment is lost a lot.

Is their any issues happened between her and her sister? Because if I'm her brother who acquired that blessing from her, I'll absolutely do whatever I could just to help her get the life that she deserves.

That is so sad, but nobody knows what happen in the future. Thats just a destination. Only sad will not makes her condition better. She should start it again. This still an early phase of bitcoin adoption. There are still so many changes that provided.

I don'yt pity her for the loss 3oo Bitcoin. I pity her because of how her sister treated her. Family should weigh more than any amount of money. All I can tell her is to keep on fighting and striving eventually something good will happen don't lose hope. If you believe in bad KARMA, Actually good Karma is stronger.

A very sad story, everyday bitcoin price goes up she upset more :(. This will be lifelong regret for her.

It is a good lesson regarding how we should be careful on sharing details regarding crypto with family members. Best option is to put details in locker and tell them that they can access the locker only if you die.

I also heard a sad story like that one my friends collect 100 bitcoins in 2009 by completing some ordinary tasks and keep it in some primary wallet he never pay attention about that because that movement it does not value $20.and he loss the all detail about bitcoin now he remember about that when bitcoin was $10,000 in fiest time soo he can not take his bitcoin.you can hear these type of sad stories ths problem is invest without proper knowledge.

Not saying it isn't true, but these stories are very easy to come up with. People will do anything to get out of a dire situation and make some additional cash.

This is so unfortunate. Why did she entrust her Bitcoins to someone else? She should have kept it by herself if she really treated it with utmost importance. That was a really huge amount by now. And it was gone into thin air because she gave it just like that to her sister. It was much better if she divided them into three to four parts to be safer. I hope the properties to which her sister invested using her Bitcoins are now valued quite high so that she could sell them up and go back to crypto. This is something we can learn from a lot.

Its life, you can't expect other people to help you even though you help them in the first. Its just normal occurences, rather than hanging with the past then its better to work for a better future. Eventhough the girl got 300 bitcoin until then, who knows when she will trade in for money while the price become $20 or $30?? Its just make sense because she invested for $10, i've meet lots of people who resent themselves for selling bitcoin when it below $50. $100 or $1000 bla..bla..bla.. You can't predict the future so accept your choice that you've made, if her sister won't help her then move on and try to work harder and better or find other opportunities elsewhere, if she can buying bitcoin in $10 then of course she also can find other opportunities.

This story is real or specially given to us so that we are more vigilant in handling and preserving our crypto currency. And it turns out that even your relatives and friends can not be trusted? From this approach it becomes quite sad. And what about faith, hope and love?

it is a sad story and I think if we want to give our bitcoin to someone, make sure that we really trust that person and he is trustable to save our bitcoin but I don't think that I will give to anyone besides of my family because I don't want my bitcoin to be stolen by another person. this is a good lesson for us to believe someone especially it's about money. money can change everyone and with money, we can change everything. so be careful.

She was stupid enough to give the coins to her sister? Then she deserves whatever shit-storm that is falling on her right now. You don't need the help of anyone to store your coins. Storing them is quite easy, if you know how to use Google. Now let her work in the restaurant for the remaining part of her life. I have no sympathies.

That's a sad story. Not because of the lost Bitcoin she had before but the relationship they had. Her sister must be stoned heart for not giving at least enough for her sister. How could someone let their sister, who gave you fortune, suffer everyday just to sustain her daily needs. That was an unbelievable person. When I get some profit in cryptocurrency, I always treat my siblings a dinner. And keep some so when they need money for emergency purposes, I have something to offer to them. I think, that's why I get lucky sometimes esp. in crypto, I always share what is given to me.

This is why I will say bitcoin or cryptocurrencies generally is for mature adult who can manage their digital asset without the assistance of third party. 

Probably that's a true to life story. Actually, many relatives may conflict each other especially it involves properties and money that can be use it for our daily life routine. Moreover, as I analyze on the story here sister is so greedy which she didn't do anything to help her sister from $200 monthly and her attitude are totally changed that she didn't even think that all of her things come from her sister's bitcoin. Hopefully no one of us will get on that kind of situation.

300 bitcoins into today's value is a huge amount, well instead of filling pity for her, I would rather ask her to toughen up and seek out a lawyer. I would suggest her to pay the lawyer some bitcoins if she wins, or no fees at all. I don't think that girl deserves pity, she deserves the right kind of legal knowledge help. I would advise you to go back to her and help her find her a lawyer.

There is no fault of bitcoins in this. It is mainly due to family member cheating another member. One should be careful while sharing financial information.

It is a real story, now the girl has made up her mind that she doesn't deserve it. With hope in mind has invested on several other ico projects saving her mere $200 got from her job every month.

The truth is a sad story but then once she her sister could work with her smoothly and come to an agreement. At least she just told me what she was going to do. In general, what to cry, about the missed and so people in 2009 cried that - but if I bought bitcoin, I was a bi-millionaire. ;D

That is a sad story to hear. But, sorry to break the sadness. Isn't it her fault for giving her account to his sister? But the sister did not kept the promise either. So it backfired to the girl. That's a lesson we should learn. Never, ever give your btc wallet to someone. Not even your family. Yes, you can let them know that you have one. But it is more secured if you have it yourself and only by yourself.

There are different situations and the fact that they did not make a mistake and did not stop the right to exist. On the mistakes to learn and the next time they will already be on a different attitude to this situation.

It is sad to hear this but I think she should fight somehow for those bitcoins because it were hers in the beginning

,if this was true then certainly you have the point that money can change people's attitude for sometime, but if it wasn't the real story or should we also consider this is not true or maybe scripted story still it hasn't change the fact that when it comes to money people do really change, nobody could also tell exactly why it needs to happen, the ones you trust the most may also turn their backs and betray you. I have also heard similar story before and it was not true, in the end we could not judge them both, we also don't know what's real behind those stories if these was proven right. and to think that she could possibly store up bitcoins since the low prices for $10, i think its quiet possible.

This story is so sad it gave me cancer.

This is why I do not share my financial information with anyone. I have just told my mother about these investments so that she can get the money if something happens to me.

It is indeed sad, her sister was probably the most trustful person she knew. If her sister invested HER money, why she won't give her some of her profits every month? Did they stop talking to each other. I wouldn't be surprised but if I were her I would try to get some of the money back. Personally, I wouldn't trust anybody. Not even my parents, we all know that everyone is greedy especially when there is no stable income which provides at least satisfying life standard. This story could be also made up because it may seem unbelievable for some people.

stupid fake story, Even if its real who cares, money doesn't make you happy and can make your life more empty.  You should see the real suffering people go through and her life will seem like a paradise.

Sad story for sure , but the saddest part was what her sister did to her not the losing of 300 BTC . As to the losing of a big amount of BTC ( You had bought in early says ) because you did not know how much they would be worth in the future is a repeatable story I can not really remember how many times I heard it .

This clearly shows that the love of money is the root of all evil. She was scammed by her own sister, of all people. It just happened the opportunity of having money presented itself and exposed who she really is. Seeing what bitcoin can do corrupted her heart and brought out the worst part of her.

Terrible stories. In this world we can encounter such a greedy person. But it is a heart broke when the greedy person is same from your own blood. Hard to say anything but hopefully she will took good care to the owner atleast it can lessen the hurted heart and fully wounded.

It's a very sad story. What made it sad is not because of the Bitcoin but because of the broken trust. The woman trusted her sister to take care of her Bitcoin but her sister just spend it. There's nothing more hateful and hurtful on a broken trust and ruined relationship. I hipe that the woman will find forgiveness in her heart.

It's sad but entirely her fault. You truly cannot depend on anyone for the important stuff. She had it in her control and gave it up.

Case in point a mate of mine was a heroin addict and underwent some type of weird coma type detox at home. The only truly vital bit was to be kept hydrated which necessitated being woken up occasionally.

His girlfriend was told repeatedly this was her only job and it was important. What happened? The stupid git went on a bender, left him in a stupor and it destroyed his kidneys.

This story is about how important it is to be confident and know what you're doing. After all, why she bought those 300 bitcoins. But not knowing what to do with them, gave them to sister, who had deceived her. A very sad story.

It was her own fault. She didn't believe BTC's potential on that time, otherwise she would have found a better way to store her money safely, not spending or letting other people spend it meanwhile. There are many other stories like that and many about people who don't remember where they put their Bitcoins years ago and now they are desperate trying to find it.

But it's never too late to start again!

From this story I can conclude there is a mistake on the girl and her own sister, the girl also believes in her sister so there is not the slightest bit of vigilance to the bitcoin she entrusts,

If this person you pity can agree on a way to be repaid by her sister her problems will be solved otherwise  she should seek legal action because sometimes even our own family takes advanatge of small things but this 300 btc should be life changing for here and if here sister can share the property she has acquired with her these guys should be best friends and if this does not go as planned enemies will be created as they say money is the root of all evil.

The same question striked me, I questioned her and got the perfect explanation. She used to surf a lot on internet in search of an online earning. In this regard she has found the word bitcoin in different sources and with that in mind she has gone through it and has learned the way to get it and kept hold of it.

I'm very sorry to hear that about your friend in the restaurant.  It's especially crappy that her own sister did that to her.  Loyalty is a defining quality of character, and it seems that her sister lacks loyalty even to her own family.  Unfortunate.

I hope that she has better days, and maybe that her sister realizes that she is being selfish.  There are things that are much more valuable than any amount of Bitcoin.

I totally agree. It's really really a sad to listen that she has been betrayed by her own sister. Listening to this stories tells us that, when you are speaking about money, you can't trust anyone and it's a sad thing.

When you're speaking about money, and especially crypto's, there's only one person who you can trust: yourself. So we must keep them only on our own hands...

Income is not a basis of wealth, feel sorry for the girl but I know you can survive on it. Did you ask your sister to give at least good money for you to get a better life? because I believe blood is thicker than anything specially with money, but it looks like your greedy sister left you alone after everything you've done, karma will be on her side if ever.

That's the perfect moral for the real story. At least from now onwards people will be more careful in holding their personal keys in a much secure manner without leaving it in the hands of others.

Yeah, that's the problem. So you can't trust anyone else than yourself when you're speaking about money, and especially crypto's. Because if someone gets you're cryptocurrencies, they're gone. With fiat money, maybe you can demonstrate that was a theft, and hopefully have them back; with crypto's they're gone forever. You can only trust your personal wallet and if you, and only you, are in possession of the private keys...

Is this true or just hoax? Whether it is true or not ignorance really affects peoples lives. I feel bad for her since I think she is still not aware of how big is the value of bitcoin that she has given to her sister. Also, lets say that she can’t get back what she already gave, I think she can start a new one for her gain additional finances aside from her regular job, it’s not like she will just regret everything forever when she can do something about it.

I think it's quite difficult to start again with a salary of 200 dollars per month, as the guy who started the thread said at the biginning... If the story is true, she had the possibility to change her life to the better (at least talking about her financial situation), but her sister robbed her of this possibility.

Sad news, can you share the link here? It's an interesting story but I would like to read the whole of it, some details like how she acquire those bitcoins, the year of the setting and others. In those previous year people have really treat bitcoin for granted, they just can see the value of it, even five years ago; there are bunch of people spending their bitcoins in foods like pizza. But after the price goes high the masses got interest and people now become greedy about bitcoins they spare no friendship and family.

Although that is terrible for her and to hear myself, it should serve as a lesson for all that we should protect our assets at all times. Unfortunate what happened here, but another lesson to protect those private keys!

If it is true than it is sad because she had given in the safe hands considering her sister would be right person to look after it. OP, it could also be that the girl wanted to get a generous tip from you after she might have given you the restaurant services by sharing a victim-like-experience. However, why anyone would allow another person keep something treasurable for them only points to lack of faith they have on the thing in question. The girl hasn't gained my sympathy. Not really mate, because we can predict the intention of a person from their activities. The conversation got initiated from some random discussion and she initially hesited to say, as her sister is the cause. Later due to my repeated try got the sadness behind her life.

If she entrusted the bitcoin into her sister's hand, then the sister should be kind enough to let her have it back. This is practically after the sister has invested same and made whooping income. Real story or not if somebody lost their investment in crypto they need to overcome and invest again. It's not late to get rich.

Why didnt I buy a load of BTC at £200? Because I was unemployed and couldn't afford it. There is a always a reason you make a choice, but hindsight makes you forget them. Keep your chin up and stop being a melt.

That's what we call tough luck! Sympathy is in the air, but things happen. Drastic at times even. But this is usually how we learn in life. Drastic sounds negative, but it usually brings out positive outcomes. We just need to learn to pick ourselves up and move forward. Self pity will not help. I really admire the girl who can hold BTC for so long. If it's me, I can't hold BTC for a long time. Because my life is not good, I am sure to sell my BTC in the middle of my life.

Stupid people doesn't deserve a comfortable life. What was the need for this girl to transfer all those coins to her sister? If she had spent 15-20 minutes in Google, then she could have learnt how to store Bitcoins using an online or desktop wallet. Now she can only blame herself.

This is truly sad. And to think that with 300 bitcoins she would be a millionaire now even at the dip. It's just sad to imagine and this is not uncommon. The people who get screwed over the most have it done by family members because they trust this family members which makes it easy to take advantage of the people close to them. Its normal for the girl to give bitcoins to other people because no one really know's on how much price increase of bitcoins will be in the future. Cryptocurrency is not very popular before and the girl who held bitcoins today is very lucky because the price is very expensive.

Sighzz.. I do have similar encounter like this girl just that mine was only 1 bitcoin and i have given my best friend to safekeep for me in year 2015 . The price of bitcoin during that time was only around 300 usd..
A couple of months ago, i recalled and asked my best friend for my bitcoin. He claimed that he has misplaced the coin. Forgotten which online wallet he placed into. So i didnt pursue the matter till a week later, one of our friends, revealed to me that my best friend sold a bitcoin and brought his gal for a shopping spree! I was like Wow! Ok... totally speechless... ' so called "best friend" huh.. Best Friends with Benefits some say... very depressing indeed. Eversince, i stopped hanging out with him...

this is a really sad story and I think every people which have the same experience like her will be sad and maybe depression. but in another side, we can learn from her mistake and we can prevent to not happen to us by doing many things to do prevention. I hope that she will not do the same things again in the future and she can always protect and secure his wallet and the most important things she will not tells to other people about his wallet.

It feels like a made up story. If her sister had invested it in property then she is still entitled to have a share.

Is their any issues happened between her and her sister? Because if I'm her brother who acquired that blessing from her, I'll absolutely do whatever I could just to help her get the life that she deserves.

This is really a pity for her. I believe that she will be very distressed to know its present value. If she kept it until now, she really became rich. But I think she can start again with Bitcoin and hope it will bring in new profits in the future

Well, that's really a self reflecting story, kinda sad as well. It told you not to take for granted  things that not needed for a moment, cause you just really don't know what well happen in the future and might regret it. Lesson should be taken.

Reading this story hurts me, really. It reminds me the pizza man. Their stories open my eyes to realize that when something is ours, it will come to us, it will stay with us. So I just think that those bitcoins aren't for that girl.

I didn't quite understand what the girl’s situation was. Was it that she at one point had 300 Bitcoins in her wallet, and she had given it to her sister who then invested in property without her permission? We can all express our words of sympathy towards the girl, but this is a basic trust issue that could have played out with any other thing of value. It is also a stark reminder of how careful you should be with your keys.  I've seen so many people say that they keep their keys written down and give the information to one other trusted person as a safety measure. What if something happens to both of you? What if they up and decide to screw you over and invest in property or something?  From a legal standpoint she may not have enough proof to win anything back from her sister. It is still a brand new issue for the legal system to take into account.

This story hurts me a lot and feel pity also to this girl. She give her 300 btc to her sister to keep but in the end she got nothing at all. Her sister became rich instantly without exerting any efforts to get that great value of bitcoin. Its unfair to hear that even a half amount of it her sister refuse to return to her. How hot money is even your own relatives can afford to steal it with you. Maybe there is "karma" for her sister to come that paid off everything in the future.

That is a sad story, but that goes to show that in the crypto world you should trust no-one, not even family! Full of scammers and greedy people, look after your own wallet and never share it.

Apart from that, try to observe and think in silence. The term Rationality implies that you are very well aware of the competitors and you cannot trust anyone while you are in the market. This is the only trick you can use to stay in good vibes. Besides, the crashes happen. Start investing in fractions and let no one keep you wallet for you but yourself. A small jump in the value will give you returns.

Seriously?Is this a real story or just a fairy tale story because if it is really true then thats a very sad story. I pity her because she lose all of that bitcoin without a fight. Her sister is really bad because she don't even think about her sister who is working to death just to survive in everyday life. 300 worth of bitcoin is a lot for her to spend! Even her grandchild's grandchildren cannot spend all of those huge amount of money. Greedy people must go to hell and they don't deserve to live while people they deceived suffering in life.

World have been evident on many stories where people have killed their blood relation just for getting political position or money. There would be no value for these blood relations and concern when money comes in their way. Such people don’t have hearts rather they are extremely materialistic. No one can teach them the best way until God let them Himself.

This story is just sad no matter how you look at it, that girl would've been a millionaire now and a billionare at the ATH in january, family has always found a way to screw over people.

If she is the owner of the Bitcoin she could at least ask her sister to give her something out of it,

11 year old girl spends time on obscure cryptographic nerd forums, despite not having bank account, somehow manages to buy in and then just hands it all over to her evil sister. Sounds legit.

I tried searching the story but doesn't seem to be online anywhere. Or could be missing out pages. Anyway whether its true or not the lesson from this story is real simple, dont trust anyone whether its your family member or somebody else. I mean as long as they are on the mutual understanding then there is no way we can make deal with them. If they are then we are good to go. I have a brother but we are working perfectly on the same page and there is no worries about how we trade, share the money that we want and whenever want. I mean we have so much trust that we do keep track of our funds with each others private keys. But this story really suck and may its all about the girls who are greedy about the money. No offence to any lady here.

Do not trust such big money to anyone. You need to be able to manage your finances yourself and do it very carefully. Of course I am sorry for the girl :(

It's sad if this story is really true, but it's also a bit her own fault of trusting someone with her Bitcoins, even if that person is her own sister.
She also should have made a written contract and have her sister sign it that she gave that 'loan' of 300 Bitcoins.

The act of entrusting something very valuable to anyone other than yourself is a very risky thing. Even if it is your sister, or brother, or parents, or any family member or loved ones, you should still keep a little reservation. Their plans might not be the same as yours. And if ever they fail with their own plans they will not only fail themselves, and that which you entrust to them, but also all your efforts and sacrifices. Bitcoin is one very precious asset that should not just be entrusted to anyone else.

I feel very sad to hear that happend with her, hope everthing will be okay for her future.

Well we can't go back in time. What's done is done. I feel sorry for her loss and her current financial struggles. This is one of the reasons why we should hold our cryptocurrencies. On the other hand, the money was also wisely spent because it was spent onto investments. If it was spent into liabilities that will be the most tragic story I will ever hear. All I can say for her is don't consistently blame herself for what had happened because it will only drain the energy from her and it will result into a loss in productivity. It is quiet sad to hear. But the sadder thing might be if she didn't benefit anything or just a little to the bitcoins that she entrusted her sister with. I would always say that you should be the one to keep track of your assets especially in Bitcoin which gives you the freedom and convenience over your funds.

From what I understand then his sister basically stole a number of bitcoins that at the time were almost not worth but are currently worth a fortune. It is unfortunate that she can not claim her rights, the poor girl can not survive now but my call is against the sister who forgot who gave her the money, and that at least something should be given to the girl or rather ALL , because thanks to her, she has acquired everything she has.

It is sad to hear this news where a family member is cheating for money. We live in a strange world were people are giving more value to money in comparison to relationships.

300 btc is still freakin big and for sure any people who have lost that amount will also get depressed or worst lost his mind. But overall we can do nothing about it because that is already over and she already lost it. all he she can do for now is to start all over again. she can maybe earn more than 300 btc again sooner or later if he worked hard and keep on chasing her dreams. besides almost all of us do also experience loosing and that is really normal because we take a risk in order to earn an income.

The experience is very pathetic  that is why I always advice people to take time and learn everything about cryptocurrency and blockchain generally.It is not all investing but knowing how to handle and manage the asset when time arises.

You cannot do anything about that because bitcoins is not really famous back in the years before and now it was just starting to gain its popularity day by day and the girl was unlucky to have no faith on the growth of cryptocurrency.

Is that a real story? then condolence to her bitcoins. If you really believe on something then push it through. But if you lose hope on believing that thing it is really pity for both of you.

I do not know if it's true or not, but this is a good and informative story for those who plan to share their private keys with someone. Money and wealth do not always strike people well.

If she have proof of ownership of the bitcoin all she needs do is take her sister to the right agency where she would be asked to to provide the entire 300 bitcoin in her possession before she would be released,  this is a great offence and should not be taken like upon.  I don't know why putting trust on some persons doesn't worth it.  Please tell her to take actions before its too late.

But you have to remember that there are a lot of early investors who really lost a lot as well, so true or not, it really pains us all to hear and see most of them lost their bitcoin because of things that they can't really control.

I myself has lost a lot in the past as well, not just bitcoin but a lot of money, but just like they say, you need to move forward and let that be a lesson not just for you but to all of us.

Perhaps she didn't have the private keys or totally lost the bitcoin wallet where she store most of them. Again, let us all learn from this mistakes and keep everything safe.

I feel pity for that young lady. At this very early age, she has seen a lot of money. Unfortunately she lost them and that's very pathetic. There are a lot of such stories. There are also stories about how people kept bitcoins on the hard drive, and then it burned down. Conclusion-do not trust your assets to anyone, even the closest relatives!

Its a very sad and disappointing story but I'm just curious if that is a true story or just a novel?. Her sister have no care about her.300 bitcoin is such a huge money right now so if I we're her I'll never never give it to others just to keep it and hold it because when it comes to money theres only few people that never break your trust because money make good people as evil.

It is really pity. No one have to do like this if someone will give us anything and say us to take care of it. If her sister was generous then she would be a rich girl today.
