been sending about 1600 for about an hour now...  looking good so far.  However.

suggestions for the site-
  • individual worker stats.  - this is a must
  • less fancy, more data.  need faster page loads

edit:   also, I have donated over 2000 shares, but I am not showing up on the top shares list. how often is that data updated?

thank you jim! The cronjobs are set to update worker data once every 15 mins.

and I not only thank you for your hashing but also for your input I really want to make this site as miner friendly as possible

I believe you can get that info thru the json string

an easy way to see your current total hasrate and the pools current total hashrate is to log in and then click welcome to go back to the home page

check out the chart there, it will show both and if you hover your mouse over it - it will show it in numeric numbers

I can see you added 10% to the pool.  woo hoo.

I am still undecided whether to stay or not.  I am giving up about 1.2 btc per day at btcguild.  at our current hashrate  we will avg about 10 days per block.  we need some luck.

well dont give up my brother and please take this into consideration.

We started 3 days ago at 2.5 Ghs
Now we are at almost 12 Ghas
thats almost a quadruple speed increase in only 3 days! and I am sure if we all stick it out together it will continue to grow! When we overcome that 1st block barrier more people will join us.

Plus we have an ace in the hole that we have yet to announce but trust me it will make our public exposure and accessibility explode!

Thanks for joining the union. For being part of the beginning of something great.

and don't forget our Daily Reward Payments and our other promotions!

I have used the site for a little while now, I have a couple of comments.

1.  the json data is not reporting my miners as online
2.  maybe im old school, but I would like to see a more simple interface with more data.  why do I have to move my mouse over a spot on a page to see a number.  I think you guys forgot the KISS method. Also, even in firefox the page takes a while to 'format' with all the css.  edit: to add to the format issues.  the username/password fields act not normal because of the formatting.
3.  How many shares total has the pool worked on the current block? edit: found this info
4.  What is the payscale?  pay per share when the block is finished?
5.  what is the fee for the pool?  are we splitting 49 out of each block.?

thanks
Jim

sorry to be a pain, but the other issue is hash speed reporting.

I have 8 workers as follows

3 5870  @  421+  mh
1 6950  @  346+  mh
3 5850  @  376+  mh
1 5850  @  272+  mh  (heating issues :) )

(421 * 3) + (377 * 3) + 346 + 272 = 3012+

the stats page has shown me at 26 - 2800 .
just wanted to point that out.  I overclocked my 5850's a little higher then normal to put me over the 3G mark :)

edit:   funny,  after I posted this and refreshed the stats page,  I see      3078 Mhsh being reported
edit:  back under 3 again (2904)

How will you determine the 24 hour avg?

Just as an update All 4 of my miners are showing comm faults with the server and failing to my backup pool. This has dropped my avg speed about 500mhash... anyone else experiencing this or is it a problem on my end?

update I think I was having some general intermittent comm trouble... (probably caused by my crappy isp) but the main cause is the username on one of my workers changed. I deleted the worker and recreated it. Everything seems to be working now. (I think I may have accidentally caused it earlier playing with the worker page)

Thanks jjiimm_64 for the quick response :)

Congratulations guys! We hit 30 G/hash speed today!
very awesome! I am sure we will be hitting our first block very very soon which is going to be a major break through for us!

The server is humming along perfectly with a very low load!

please make sure you point your miners to pool.bitminersunion.org port 8341

today we are scaling up our bandwidth to make sure we are ready to keep growing in speed

**edit

I just got off the phone with ISP

our bandwidth is doubling within the next 24 hours - the next upgrade is to 5 x that
we are committed to you and our pool just like you have shown your commitment as miners

my other admin is a programming genius (At least in my eyes ;) ) and he is developing a new much cleaner stats system that is based on your feedback and I know your going to love it!

we are also working heavily on security - we are implementing a system to protect against pool hopping type cheats and we are discouraging CPU miners and considering banning them. The reason for this is the majority of cpu miners today are botnets, which are not good for any of us.

I will be away for a few hours this morning and when I return this afternoon I will be processing a round of Daily Reward Payments!
thanks again for being with us
and being a part of the UNION!

keep mining brothers !

We cannot tell if I miners are hashing or not.

website is down, or painfully slow.  when it finally loaded I only saw 7 workers. mine not one of them.

and the json reports nothing...

Bare with us my friends.

We are making major upgrades and adjustments to the
• database
• front end
• statistics

We listened to the features you requested and we are working to bring you better statistics and a better web site front end all together . We are trying to make this upgrade without Amy downtime at all to your miners but you may not be able to get accurate statistics for a few hours

But please trust me pushpoold is running perfectly on a very low server load and every single share and hash is being recorded, and your rewards will be accurate!

The upgrades are solely on the front end / web site
so please keep your miners going and try not to hammer the stats page we are doing the upgrade

Thank you for mining with the union!

P.s. When I get home this afternoon I will process the daily reward payments for all who are eligible!

we are also working heavily on security - we are implementing a system to protect against pool hopping type cheats

Pool hopping is NOT cheating - they submit the exact same type of work as anyone else - and the only way to fix it is to use a proper payout system (nearly anything other than proportional would do!).

How do you detect CPU miners?

Well I guess the jury is still out as to weather pool hopping is considered cheating but a lot of our miners have expressed concern in this area so it is something we are looking into

As far as CPU mining goes we don't have anything against CPU miners pet say but we need to prevent botnets and we are looking into ways to so that.

We are not having problems so to speak , the problem lies with mining farm - the open source front end we used , mining farm is not at all efficient at processing stats so we are modifying the code ourselves to suit the our needs and provide the kind of statistics union members want and deserve.

This is a small growing pain but the pool is still open to already registered miners . So please keep mining! Your stats will be displayed properly when the front end comes back on line

we are very close to solving our first block so don't give up!

All daily rewards payments will be completed by the end of the day.
Thank you!

I will stay mining with you as long as the pool hopping issue is resolved. My problem isn't with people hopping, my issue is with how it affects small pools. I was mining at triplemining as soon as the block was found the ghash went from 40ghash to over 200ghash and within a couple hours it went back to like 60 or so. It causes the 24hr miners to have to suffer the long blocks and minimizes the benefit of short blocks. Just my 2 cents.:-)

Then why mine with a pool, that has a  known faulty payout system instead of payment types like eligius or bitp.it...

Proportional payout is a thing of the past, like fiat money... sure, some people still use them  ::)

btw, can you tell me a proportional pool that has a sign on its front door: no hopping here please?

No existing rule was/is broken. btw. Proportional payout also hurts "short time" miners, that mine while the computer is being used (i know in the longterm its only variance, but why a variance based system...?

many pools offer both pps and prop so they can keep the hoppers and yet keep their 24/7s happy.

plus you seem to have all kinds of bonuses for 24/7s which wouldnt be available to the 43%rs

PPS is awesome and I would love to offer it, but a small pool can't afford it. Even if youve got a mega sized pool You need a backup stash of coins to pay when old man luck decides to screw with you.

As far as porportional payouts are concerned - the big pools still use it most of them so it cant be that much "a thing of the past" in any case we are exploring options in that regard - we want to make our miners happy, we truly want to make this a pool by and for miners. With that being said I have an announcement to make.

Well you asked for it, and your gonna get it! You wanted more stats, you wanted a better statistical system and you wanted a more user friendly way to view them.

My co-admin the genius programmer that he is .. is currently working tirelessly to make a custom statistical system and front end module for our beloved union pool. He requires that we keep most statistics down for up to 24 hours so he may do the neccesary testing and upgrades.

THE POOL WILL STILL BE RUNNING * ALL YOUR HASHES AND SHARES AND REWARDS ARE STILL BEING RECORDED AND YOU WILL BE PAID !

We will just not have live statistics running on the front end web page until this upgrade is over. When it comes online I assure you we will have an incredible statistical machine that you all will love! In the mean time PLEASE KEEP YOUR MINERS RUNNING! OUR FIRST BLOCK CANT BE FAR OFF !

ALSO for those that STAY MINING THROUGH THE NEXT 24 HOURS WHILE OUR STATS ARE DOWN - YOUR DAILY REWARD PAYMENTS WILL INCREASE! THATS RIGHT FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS ALL MINERS WHO STAY CONNECTED TO THE POOL WITH AT LEAST 1 G/HASH WILL RECEIVE AN EXTRA .05 BONUS DAILY REWARD PLUS YOUR REGULAR .1 PER GHASH PAYMENT ALL MINERS RUNNING BETWEEN 100 M/HASH - 999 M/HASH WILL RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL .025 BONUS ON TOP OF YOUR REGULAR .05 DAILY REWARD PAYMENT!

Thank you for sticking with us! You wont regret it my friends!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE IF YOU ARE ENTITLED TO A DAILY REWARD PAYMENT SEND AN EMAIL WITH YOUR USERNAME AND BITCOIN WALLET ADDRESS TO ADMIN@BITMINERSUNION.ORG SO I KNOW WHERE TO SEND YOUR PAYMENTS THANK YOU FOR MINING WITH US!

you ok if i write a bot to let me know when we solve the block? i'd be hitting the stats page maybe every 10 minutes?

if you guys want, i can post it up here too.

i figured when the current rounds shares reset (or are less then when i last checked), we solved a block.

im going to repost my statement from last night for those who missed it

PLEASE IF YOU ARE ENTITLED TO A DAILY REWARD PAYMENT SEND AN EMAIL WITH YOUR USERNAME AND BITCOIN WALLET ADDRESS TO ADMIN@BITMINERSUNION.ORG SO I KNOW WHERE TO SEND YOUR PAYMENTS THANK YOU FOR MINING WITH US!

we are working diligently as we speak on our new front end and statistical system! the only stats that are correct on the web site right now is the total pool speed and the amount of workers

PLEASE KEEP MINING
we have not solved our first block yet but it will be happening VERY SOON - MAYBE EVEN TODAY

when the stats system comes back tonight you will see every hash, share, and reward has been properly recorded!

also daily reward payments will continue to be paid for those who are still mining
I can see who is mining on the backend so please be honest and dont tell me you are mining when you are not!
(no one has done this yet - your all good guys)
im just saying

I will be away working on this all day today and we will have a major announcement to make very soon that is going to put the Bit Miners Union up there with the big pools

if you have not received your daily reward payments yet please email your wallet address to admin@bitminersunion.org - I have already processed several payments and will continue to do so! Remember those miners who stay connected throughout the stats downage get an increased daily reward payment!

Keep mining and stay tuned for more info - this is your pool and we are going to fill it with the features you want!

Hello friends and Union Members!!!!

my fellow admin and I have been working DILIGENTLY to get this new stats system finished
and we have SOME BIG NEWS!

Our dedicated powerhouse server is being moved to a new location!

We now not only have the crazy computing power of that dedicated server we now have a completely dedicated T1 connection, complete with professional grade firewall / routing hardware and battery / Diesel generator backup!!!!

My genius programmer co-admin is writing all new code for our front end and when stats come back we will have the stats you were asking for - it truly is all about you! The Bit Miners Union is all about the miners and the benefits are only going to get better!

Stats will be back up soon but PLEASE dont stop mining ! Every single share, hash and reward is being properly recorded, and none of that has changed we are just working on the way the front end displays stats to you the miner via the web site.

Daily reward payments have been made to most of the miners that have been mining over the last 24 hours including the bonus for mining while stats are down.

If you have not received your reward and you HAVE been mining over the last 24 hours PLEASE email me at bitminersunion@gmail.com

and I will send your payment out today as soon as I can verify in the DB that you really have been mining for 24 hours and what your speeds are.
and dont forget to send your bitcoin wallett address so i have a place to send them :)

And of course once we solve our first block you will get your regular reward for the block plus +1 BTC for the miner that solves the block
+ One lucky miner is going to win this XFX Radeon HD 5770!!!!

thank you all for staying with us and being a par of the union

We are going to have an incredible custom coded front end not like anything out there
were are going to have this robust dedicated server on a screamingly fast and secure t1 connection

we are going to take this little pool up to super pool status
and we are going to do it with your help

this is a Miners Union - a Miners Pool - its all about you
we are going to continue to work into our pool the features you want

all these upgrades we are doing without taking down mining
speeds are staying steady around 30 g/hash sec and we should solve a block any day now
maybe even today!

Please note

although the new stats will be coming back soon
Monday 08/08/11 we will be having 1-3 hours schedualed down time to move our server to the T1 line

next week will be a awesome week for the union and its members
our new pool will be unstoppable and we will grow to the size we need to be at to solve blocks effectively
but i WILL NEVER allow our pool to get as big as deep bit. No offense to tycho but when a pool is that big it is not in the best interest of the miners it is in the best interest of the person collecting the fees - and we are the exact oposite

We are The Bit Miners Union
and thank you for being union members
this pool is going to huge things - we are going to change everything - its all about perspective and mentality

We come from a miners perspective we want this to be YOUR POOL - OUR POOL

So stay with it guys and again please email me your wallet addresses and how much reward you think is owed to you
I will go through the DB and verify the information and send out payments
but please dont request payment if you have not been mining for the last 24 hours with us
thank you and I will keep you updated as to when stats are coming back!

*** EDIT - I TALKED TO MY CO-ADMIN First Off I mis spoke earlier. This is no little T1 line we are moving to. This is a Dedicated , Redudant Fiber Optic Connection at 100 MBPS! DEDICATED COMPLETELY TO OUR POOL!

SECOND THING HE SPOKE TO ME ABOUT IS HE IS TRYING TO GET THE NEW STATISTICAL SYSTEM OPERATIONAL BY TOMARROW MORNING!

I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED!!!

TODAY I SENT OUT SEVERAL BITCOINS WORTH OF DAILY REWARD PAYMENTS AND MORE WILL GO OUT TOMARROW

BENEFITS FOR UNION MEMBERS ONLY BABY - I LOVE

YOU GUYS ! ITS ALL ABOUT YOU!

sorry about the caps im just excited!

Hi

I understand your frustrations. please read my posts in the above thread - we are creating a new statistical system - the current one that comes with mining farm (open source front end to push pool) is not well designed to take stats for a pool with our speed or higher. Thats why we are not only redesigning and recoding everything but we are also moving the server to a dedicated 100 mbit redundant fiber optic line on Monday.

so keep your miners mining - daily reward payments will continue to be paid!

come monday we will have a fully functional kick ass front end and 100 mbit line!

dont give up union b rothers!

Just want to let everyone know we are currently at DEF CON !!! we will be back on Sunday and Monday we are going to have a 2-3 hour scheduled down time to move the pool to a DEDICATED 100 MBS FIBEROPTIC LINE!

With our powerhouse server super broad band connection and custom coded pushpool front end
we are going to have a huge week this week, and I am sure that we will have our first block this week as well.

If you are overdue daily rewards hold tight. We are going to be processing all daily reward back payments on Monday.
Monday I will be going through the database and seeing who has thactually been submitting shares all this time and who isnt
then I will pay you all accordingly

so please keep mining - on monday everything will be back up and operational as it is supposed to be
your going to love the new front end statistics that YOU the Union Miners Requested - and your going to love the ease speed and stability of our new server location

including redundant battery backups, diesel power generator and fiber optic 100 mb uplink!!!

Keep up the good work my union brothers!

no actually your incorrect my friend

there is no "hosting" involved here what so ever.

Currently I have the physical server in my office, it is a IBM eServer x366 3u rackmount w/ four (4) Dual Core XEON MP 3.66 GHZ Processors
the server is owned by me and is completely dedicated  to the operations of the pool

I have a 15 mbps down / 2 mbps up
internet connection in my office

my co admin has the dedicated 100 mb fiberoptic line in his office for his private use only
it is not with a hosting company and it is not shared with anything else

We do not and will not deal with any kind of colocation or hosting company

and thats one of the things that makes us different. we dont use virtual servers or anything even remotely like that

this is all privately owned hardware and bandwidth owned by us and for our exclusive use.

and I dont mean to be rude but you wont see ME, advertising my pool in your thread while trying to lie about your pool at the same time like you just did to me. It may have been subtle but i see what your doing my friend :)

at this time the webpage loads very slow...
(it takes 20 - 40 sec. to load)
and often there is a problem with the API so my miner disconnects and goes to another pool...

You guys really need to fix your web page and remove all unnecessary "dynamic" crap, that obviously chokes your SQL/web page.
(Is your web server even configured correctly to handle little traffic?)

1) login - only thing that actually works at OK speed if the pages shows up. (but login expires to fast and is a major annoyance for a slow site)
2) statistics page  - generate it once every 3 sec and serve it as a static HTML (forget SQL cache and what not. Looks like it is not used properly)
3) JSON stats work OK, thank you. Please make stats  are up to date or you will lose your credibility really fast.
4)  remove everything "dynamic" that adds no actual value to miners. Small, clean, fast and informative = good web page.
5) ...

:)

Cheers.

PS! WTF is -0.43 BTC  balance?

Hello Union Members and Friends

Obviously some of you have not been following the thread and are just getting here and wondering - hey wtf is going on?
(which is fine)

So I will re-iterate my earlier posts to you. :)

First Let me State some facts to clear up any mis conceptions.

We do not use any kind of hosting companies or virtual servers.
We do not share or lease resources from anyone.

Our Entire operation (pushpoold, bitcoind, mysql, and web front end) are sitting on a Dedicated
3U Rackmount IBM eServer which is powered by (4) XEON MP Dual Core 3.66 Ghz CPU's
This server could handle 10000 G/hash if need be. Maybe more. The server is privately owned by me and sits in my office on a 15mbps Down / 2mbps UP connection.

When we first started the pool we decided to go with Mining Farm - which is an open source pushpoold front end designed by Xenland.

Within three days of launching our pool our speed grew more than 10 times!
From 2.5 G/hash to 30 G/hash and we quickly learned that although the server had a VERY low load and was working just fine that Mining Farm was NOT properly designed to handle speeds over even a couple G/hash. Unfortunately Mining Farm's handling of MYSQL queries is very inefficient, so we quickly decided this would not work for us.

We also had many requests from our miners for better stats and interface so what we decided to do is code a completely new statistical front end as well as a new GUI for our miners - implementing the great input and ideas you have all given us.

We also realized we were going to need more bandwidth and we planned for this. I have a business class broadband cable connection and my ISP allows me to scale it up as needed. However after deliberating on that notion my co-admin volunteered his PERSONAL 100 MB Redundant Fiber-optic link! Our server will be the sole dedicated user of this bandwidth and its entirety will be at the pools disposal!

We have a scheduled 2-3 hour downtime on Monday to migrate the server to my co admins office. At that time we will take the newly coded statistical system and freshly designed website out of the testing server and bring it online. IT IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!

The statistics you see are from the old system and are not entirely reliable. However that is just the Mining Farm front end screwing up. All your shares, hashes and rewards are being properly calculated by pushpoold / bitcoind and properly stored in the DB. You have nothing to worry about and you will see all of this on monday when our fresh front end comes online.

PROMOTIONS!

DAILY REWARD PAYMENTS! This is an exciting incentive to mine with us and don't worry on monday when the new server comes online I will be going through the database and looking and shares and who has been hashing and who has not. YOU WILL RECEIVE ALL OF YOUR DAILY REWARD PAYMENTS ON MONDAY! Which is .1 BTC per G/hash per 24 hours + .05 BTC BONUS for mining with us while our stats are screwed up. For Slower miners (100 m/hash - 999 m/hash) Your Daily Rewards are a little lower .05 daily and .025 bonus. I have already paid out several bitcoins in bonuses and I would love to continue to be able to do that so come on and mine with your union brothers!

WIN A BRAND NEW XFX 5770 !
When our first block is solved (which should be this week after we get the new front end and statistics up I KNOW our growth and speed is going to start multiplying again!) we will have a raffle amongst the miners who were mining when it was solved - the card is sitting on my self right now and I cant wait to ship it out!

FIRST BLOCK BONUS!
The lucky miner who finds that first block for us will receive +1 BTC PER G/HASH on top of your regular daily reward AND your regular round reward from the pool

PLUS A REVOLUTIONARY NEW PAYOUT METHOD THAT NO ONE ELSE OFFERS!
(i will announce that this week when we launch it)

Lots of exciting things going on - This Pool truly is the pool FOR miners and BY miners. There are benefits to being in any union and the Bit Miners Union is no different! So keep on hashing this is OUR POOL not my pool and I can't wait to show you the new features on Monday!

Hello Friends

I am going to be doing our planned down time a little early.

Some very lame and pathetic person is insisting on doing a DDOS attack on our server.

So we are just going to take the pool down today (right now) and it will be back up tomorrow on our brand spanking new dedicated fiber optic 100 mbit connection.

You will also have working improved statistical system, new front end and attractive web site interface - along with all the features I talked about in my previous post.

So stay tuned! and I will let you know when we are back up (about 24 hours from now)

Our new server location has the cisco hardware necessary to block DDOS at the hardware level. So do not worry about it - DDOS is a thing of the past at The Bit Miners Union.

Until then my brothers!

Was the fiber rusty and overpriced Cisco hardware started to spew chunks?

Dear Union Members and Friends,

Sorry we haven't been keeping you updated - We have been working like crazy to manage getting the new site up along with balancing our personal lives (yes we have personal lives) :).

The DDOS attack that we were receiving before made us think a lot about security - our statistical system and front end are brand new. My co-admin programmed the stats himself so we are doing thorough tests on the server and all its operations before we make a public launch.

We decided it would be better to test this on testnet and mine a couple of test blocks and test out our security and everything FIRST. We do not want to have to take this down again or have any problems once we officially launch.

Our miners are our first priority and we know how important stability and security is to you. Because we are miners too and we know that a pool that is down all the time is not just frustrating - its useless. We are currently fine tuning our new system and will be testing it on testnet before we open our doors to the public again.

We appreciate your loyalty and patience... Our mining operations and all of our great promotions including the daily reward payments will resume at:

you start from 0, he scammed your shares

No one scammed your shares my friend. Unfortunately we were not able to solve a block before we had to take the pool down for several reasons - no  block was solved so no one gets paid. You did however get paid for your daily reward payments.

I really wish we had solved a block on the old system I would of loved for you all to get paid for your hashing.

Our old system was using the "Mining Farm" which is an open source front end that quite frankly has many bugs, security holes and inefficiencies. Our new system is very nice - very slick design and a custom coded front end.

Due to all the security flaws in mining farm we decided not to migrate the database over - instead we are starting fresh - so all old users please register with a new account.

If you or anyone else feels you are owed Daily reward payments please send me an email to: admin@bitminersunion.org and I will verify it in the old database and pay you promptly.

If you submitted a large amount of shares in those 3 days that our pool was up - please send me a email and tell me what you think is a fair payment for the shares you submitted - if we can come to an agreement I will pay you a sum of BTC to reimburse you for your mining time, but
please keep in mind that we did not solve any blocks during this time. No one wants you to feel like you were scammed - that is not what we are about - the Union truly is about you, the miner, and we are your friends , so please email me! This downtime and upgrade was essential to the future of the Bit Miners Union and I can guarantee you that it will not need to happen again!

STAY TUNED FOR AN OFFICIAL RELAUNCH STATEMENT!

lmao

This is why I'm very cautious of new pools now...

Guys, go to a PPS pool and withdraw your earnings every ~12 hours or more often... You effectively limit your risk of something like this happening, to nearly zero

Nobody is cheating... Please stop crying...

I had 0.7 BTC estimated but why it doesn't matter:

Payment is proportional -> no block was found -> you get payd proportional for that -> that would make 0,0 BTC.

Why do miners take so much crap like this and lap it up? As a pool owner I'm horrified. Here's the way I think it should be done, using my pool as an example:

I currently offer Prop and PPS, but I want to remove PPS until we grow (a total 180 on my previous  position but thats another story for another day). It would be downright rude to swap everyone from PPS to Prop mid-round, not to mention totally screw up all the payments.

So basically there's two solutions, reset everyone and pay them, or reset everyone and don't. I will be doing the former later today. MaGNeT, if you had mined Prop for 8 days without payment, and then it got reset, do you think you'd be singing the same song?

Your 20k shares in a prop pool are worth nothing untill a block is found.
Just like mining solo. Did you scam yourself when your stop without finding a block? No, you didn't...

But maybe if you just ask instead of scream "scammer!" the pool owner would consider to put all the shares back in the accounts, with a "reclaim your shares" procedure.

TOLD YOU TO STFU troll, if those were solo shares that is 1% of path walked towards 50 btc at the end, and YES I can stop* walking that path and continue** anytime, but that will not change the fact that I will GET THOSE 50 btc if I walk the rest 99%, with deleting old DB that scam just put me back in starting position

if I'm in a pool

* - stop mining for some reason
** - start mining for some reason

pools rules were that I WILL BE REIMBURSED for path I walked

Post by: cablepair on August 13, 2011, 12:20:42 PM
please please this kind of stuff is really not necessary.

jmkinov I understand your frustration - but you really do not need to act in this way no one is trying to scam anyone - all this yelling and name calling is not going to solve anything  - first please gentlemen you need to realize that this upgrade was essential - our new database system is nothing like the mining farm database and there was really no simple way to just migrate the database over - we did this upgrade for you the miner to provide a better mining experience we did not do it to cheat anyone out of shares

did I not pay out daily reward payments? Even though we never mined any blocks? that came out of my pocket - and i'll do it again - I am committed to making this thing work and I know once people start using the pool and it starts mining blocks that you are going to love it and stay with us.

This is what I am going to do for ANYONE that mined on the old pool

if you want to continue to mine with us - sign up with a new account - then send an email to admin@bitminersunion.org
i will look up in the old DB and record the amount of shares that you have - if you continue to mine with us until the block is found your shares will be paid in full -  the only difference is the shares from the old pool will be paid out of my personal pocket NOT out of the pools 50 BTC reward as that would not be fair to the new miners.

however just like in any other proportional pool if you do not continue to mine your shares will become less and less valuable as other miners continue to mine

its just like the pool never stopped if you want to be paid for those shares in full you need to continue to mine - if you decide to stop mining your shares will become less and less valuable as the round drags on but that is your choice to make just like it would of been if the pool never stopped

i dont see how i can possibly be any more fair than that.

so please send email to admin@bitminersunion.org if you have shares in the old db you want transferred over to the new db
and I will work on it today

for those of you who have been mining since yesterday please send me your bitcoin wallet addresses to admin@bitminersunion.org so I can send out daily reward payments

to make this fair for everyone I am only allowing a 24 hour window to do this - so if you had shares you want migrated over from the old database you need to email me at admin@bitminersunion.org AND setup a new account.

Because of our security upgrade YOU MUST register a new account we cannot just move your account over to the new system

have a nice day

It would have nice for you to let us know that NONE of our shares would be valid in the new system. If I would have known that, I would have stayed at my other pool and not "lost" 5 days worth of mining. Btw, I only got my reward once.

Hmm... 1300mh/s at a pps pool for those 5 days would have been about 4 coins.

Thanks....

I know you are trying your best to be fair BUT you still you have to understand the frustrated hashers.

Just as an example... nofeemining has transferred to a new system but has kept the old one running until the find of a block as to make sure everyone gets what they deserve.   So it is possible to do it differently.

PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR NOT MAKING THIS CLEARER!

It's a complicated situation but I will try and put this as clear as possible!

I have compiled a spread sheet from our old database that has everyone's estimated reward from when we took down the old pool.

For those of you who mined on our old pool and join the new pool and help us mine our first block you will actually be paid as if you mined two blocks.

So this is how its going to work. If you sign up with a new account and help us mine our first block you will not only be paid that reward
but also your estimated reward at the time we took down the old pool.

Dear Union Members

Many of you have showed a great deal of concern in regard to the shares you submitted on our old pool before we upgraded - The Union is Truly all about it's members so we decided to work out a way where we can reimburse you for your shares without manipulating the current shares of our new pool.

It is well known fact that if you stop mining in a non pay per share pool that your reward quickly goes down and after a certain amount of time goes away all together.  However we took down the pool in order to do upgrades  and although this was necessary it was not your fault.  With that being said we are giving you a chance to continue mining with us and not only earn your reward from mining our first block and all our great promotions but we will actually give you the ability to receive your estimated reward at the time we shut down the last pool in addition to the rewards from our first block - in effect its like getting paid for 2 blocks for the price of one!

Please find below a list of all of the workers estimated rewards at the time of the pool shut down.

If you add all the balances of your workers that is the extra reward you would get ON TOP of what you would normally make when you help us mine our first block
and don't forget your daily reward payments!

If you liked our old pool - you will LOVE our new pool - so come back to the Union - We Miss you!

any way you could work in mining on port 80? my cards are at the office and I.T. has it locked down pretty hard.

i will say, the new site is MUCH faster than the old one.

ahahah

sorry about mis understanding you - I am so used to people giving me a hard time today - hehehe that is a sign for me to lighten up and go have a beer, I have just been working so hard on getting things back up with the new pool

yeah we are tweaking a few things , that donation thing isnt completed yet

glad you like the speed of the new server

we have a dedicated 100 mbit fiberoptic line thats sole purpose is to support this mining pool.

I will talk to my co-admin about allowing mining on port 80
it will be difficult since port 80 is for http but if theres any possible way to make it work he will be able to figure it out :)

thanks for the feedback runlinux - you da man! :)

now time for that beer

i see you pull in the current bitcoin price. anyway you could add what your estimated $ value of your coins would be? (Total Balance * Bitcoin Value)

also, when you first go to the site, the login button looks like it should have a pic or text, but nothing is there.

tom.  thanks for all the hard work.

site is still a little fancy for my tastes,  but at least it loads now :).

any plans on showing individual worker stats?   seeing the top 10 is nice and all,  but I am sure everybody wants, ( and needs) to see that each individual worker is submitting shares.  especially how long ago the last share was accepted.  I use this to make sure my miners are all working.

btcguild shows minutes since last share.
deepbit shows miner in blue when working, red if not.

they both show how many shares for each worker and a way to reset them so we can compare workers.

I set up one worker.  I see it on the top 10, but not anywhere individually.

BTCGuild has the best stats that I have seen.  but lately I have been getting alot of miner idles so I went to deepbit.  I suggest setting up a worker at btcG and check out his site.

I personally dont care what the site looks like, as long as it loads fast and has alot of data.  remember the KISS method.

edit:  Can you PLEASE increase the session timout.  in the time I took to write this post, went back to your site to check, I was looged out. :(

thanks for your feedback. To view your worker stats click on 'workers' and scroll down
if you actually look at the image you can see your actual real time worker stats

individual for each worker - each worker has its own image with stats

I will talk to my co-admin about having the idle session time increased a bit

thanks again!

So, just so I have this straight.  if I have 28 workers. I have to dig thru 28 different 'images' of a guiminer to see my stats?  no thank you.  that is just the sort of 'fancy' stuff I dont need.  hell, I couldn't even grab the info and stick it in a spreadsheet. arrggg.

consider it done. give me 1 day. this is the kind of feedback im looking for

thats funny you said that, I just told my co-admin (the programmer) to do the same thing.

thats an awesome suggestion and totally an easy thing to do. We custom coded our own statistical system , setting it up to show on the web site any way we like is no big deal

maybe when you see our new stats display tomarrow you might move your whole 11 g/hash over to our pool ? :)

simple request to the login / failure process:

because i have a few passwords (who doesnt, right?), could you make it so when your login fails, the page doesnt change after 5 seconds? its annoying when i am partway into a password when the screen changes.

thanks guys, thats going on our to do list for today.

Please keep the input coming this is good stuff :)

also today my programmer is putting a little something together for our daily rewards payments

we will have a page that will show everyone who is eligible for reward payments and how much
the system will automatically put you on the page after you have been mining for 24 straight hours
and it will display your average speed over 24 hours so you know how much to expect in the payment

jjim_64: you expect your new stats display today as well

Hello,
I think there is an issue with the new stats (love the new simple interface)

I just started 8 more miners, but the stats are not correct, the "Last Share" should say < 15 min, but lists when I created the worker.

jjiimm64.miner6w4    ppp    402    99.67%    301    1    316 - 331 Min

jjiimm64.miner6w3    ppp    343.5    98.63%    288    4    316 - 331 Min

jjiimm64.miner6w2    ppp    418    99.39%    325    2    316 - 331 Min

jjiimm64.miner6w1    ppp   432    99%    296    3    316 - 331 Min

You guys are doing a great Job! The pool is humming along with a very low server load at around 20 g/hash sec...

we have been growing little by little every day and I believe we will continue to grow! We are over 800k shares on this round and even though we are almost at the halfway mark for average shares for a solved block - we could actually solve this block at any time!

Don't give up! Once we solve our first block it will be a major milestone for us!

I am going to start processing Daily Reward Payment Bonuses! Thanks again for mining at the Union and remember this is YOUR pool - if you have any ideas on how we can make it better please send me an email at admin@bitminersunion.org or come talk to me live at #bitminersunion on the EFNet IRC Network

I have a small request.

On the worker page can we

  • have totals for Msh, shares, stales
  • have the worker list sorted by name

it would also be nice to be able to
  • sort by Msh, or shares,  but the name is importan.
  • reset share count

I apologize for being a nag but when will we get our rewards from the first launch of the pool you promised? I assume it will be when this block is confirmed? and congrats on having the ghash of the site stay fairly steady after the first block. I think your site will continue to grow as long as we don't have anymore major hiccups along the way. I also wanted to say thanks for being honest and open with us, it shows integrity that you don't often see anymore :)

Again congrats

Yes and thank you for your kind comments. We truly believe the key to our success is in our miners and with all the problems Bitcoin has had lately we all need to be honest open and transparent - people need to feel secure and confident in our pool and Bitcoin in general. As for rewards from the past pool I posted a list in the thread if you go up a couple of pages you will find it - its the total estimated rewards for every worker at the time we took down the last pool. When this block confirms today you will have your regular reward from that block and for your reward from the old pool just make sure that you have your wallet address added to your account and I will give you a direct payment later today for that amount.

As for block stats - I do realize there is some improvement that can be made here on the way our pool displays found block stats and we will be redesigning the look of that page later today.

we also have more exciting features coming soon - including a megahash signature like deepbit's, live tech suppport chat, and an iphone/android app for easy worker monitoring on the go.

Today or tomarrow our reward bonus page will be live where you can check on your average speed over the last 24 hours and see if your eligible for the Daily Reward Bonus Payments

thanks for mining with the Union!

im not accepting 50% stales....

I don't think that's accurate but if you are getting excessive stales Remember you are mining through a port forward on port 80 (to get around your firewall) and because of this setup there is no long polling. You need to configure your miner to request work more often - it will help with the stales.

While withdrawing the bitcoins, it said 0 BTC under my balance and then "Bitcoind Query Error | Contact admin!" once I clicked the button. However the money did get withdrawn. Looks like a minor issue with the balance not showing decimal places?

yeah what it looks like is everyone who had a bitcoin wallet address your coins were automatically withdrawn to you when the block was confirmed - we are fixing that as we speak so it wont withdraw until you either request it or you go over your threshold

also if you havent received your daily reward payments its because i have not processed them yet. I am working on those very soon so expect them by the end of the night

Send an email at admin@bitminersunion.org and I will recheck the db, if your average speed over the last 24 hours is 100 m/hash or more you have at least .05 btc coming.

I am going to bed now - but I will check email around 7 AM EST

thanks again for mining with the union! You guys are awesome!

Code:
[url=https://btcnetwork.com][img]http://btcnetwork.com/bmu/forumsig.php?usern=youruserhere&token=yourspecialtokenhere[/img][/url]

edit:  is anyone else see the Mhash's reported on the worker page as consistently a little low.  I know that I have watched a bunch of my 5870's stay at a consistent 420-422 but the site shows more like 360,350,370.   I know that it is an estimate, but I am just asking anyone else here if they see the same thing.?

Any pool i've ever mined at the amount of speed per gpu has always varied a great deal. But it appears to be pretty accurate. As I am sure you know Jim the speed reported on the web site does not have anything to do with how much you are paid, its your proportion of the submitted shares.

Title: Re: [~40ghs] BitMinersUnion.org - LP*JSON*INSTANT*8DEC* Daily Reward Payments
Post by: runlinux on August 18, 2011, 02:41:10 PM
found out something useful:

when mining on port 80 from the same IP address, it doesnt like multiples.

i can mine on one card just fine, but as soon as i fire up the second, they both go haywire. and im hitting 50+% stales.

so, for the time being, i do have 600Mh/s at the pool! yay! more here than at that "ick"y place, lol.

EDIT:

Another thing, every time i submit a share, the hash rate of my client takes a hit. After about an hour, i go from 270 down to 168mh/s and from ~100% GPU usage to ~60%

if i stop and restart, it resets and starts over.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE DAILY REWARDS PROGRAM SUCH A SUCCESS !

As I am sure you remember the daily rewards program was originally meant to be a temporary reward to get the first block mined and to get things rolling at the pool. We decided because we love you miners so much we would extend the daily rewards program to include the second block and you guys did not disappoint! WOW!

I just completed payments on the final daily rewards bonuses. If you did not receive your bonus its quite possible I made a mistake! (i make those often) So send me an email at admin@bitminersunion.org if you did not receive yours.

thank you so much for mining with the Union and making it the great pool it is today and stay tuned because I am currently working on some great promotional ideas and interesting ways to reward you - our awesome miners who we love so much! we couldn't do this without you - this is truly YOUR POOL !

I have no doubt at all the Bit Miners Union will be a major contender with the other big pools and you are a part of that! We have been taking your thoughts, input, and suggestions everyday and using them to improve the pool and make it better - its all about you and you have made your pool the best one out there.

Here is the link to my original thread about the shares from the old pool.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=32921.msg453945#msg453945 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=32921.msg453945#msg453945)

as I stated in the thread in order to receive your shares from the old pool you had to come back and mine our first block

Yesterday I paid out a great deal of final daily reward payments along with payments for shares from miners who not only were mining when we stopped the old pool but who also received a reward from our first block

I have already spoken to Jim64 we had a special arrangement. Runlinux and iopaq I dont believe you mined on the first block but I will check the database again, unfortunately its kind of an arduous thing pouring over shares and doing math and all this (I hate math) so its possible I missed you but I will check again.

if there is anyone else that feels they should of been paid from old shares from the old pool and have not please go read the link to the thread at the top of this post and send an email to admin@bitminersunion.org - do not worry if you are owed anything you will be paid, please understand this is all stuff I have to do by hand while handling a bunch of other stuff so if i missed you I am sorry.

Block #3 is likely to be solved before tomorrow - with that being said I would like to have a promotion for block #4

if you scroll up to the top of the page you can take the poll, The option with the most votes by the time we start block #4 will be the promotion I go with.

This gives me a better idea as to what is important to our miners, its all about you guys we could not do this without you.

So please take the poll and let me know!

Also Evan001 When you get your xfx 5770 (should be today) please take a picture with yourself holding the card and email it to admin@bitminersunion.org

thanks!

well - port 80 is tricky.

The reason your work only has port 80 open is likely because it is the same port as http
any web server operates on port 80

on our server we have a web server running as well for the front end to our pool

we had to setup a proxy server in order to funnel the traffic from port 80 to port 8341

if you ask me its quite a remarkable thing that it works as well as it does
if we were not running a web server it would be easy to have mining on port 80 with no problems what so ever
hypothetically we can run it on any port we want with no issues but port 80 is taken by web traffic.

What? So now a http proxy server between two local ports (possibly on the same machine, maybe over a LAN, I don't know the details of your setup) is remarkable that it works?

Many systems administrators would laugh at you for that comment - it's bread and butter stuff, and should work absolutely flawlessly.

Are you aware that some of the big pools are proxying *ALL* their requests from the frontend to backend daemons (over, usually, nginx)? Do you see them saying it's remarkable it works?

Try harder and stop spreading this crap. Miners don't have to accept this level of FUD.

please do not troll in here looking for ways to try and make me look bad.

In my personal opinion It surprised me that we could come up with a way for him to mine on the same port on the same server that we use for http

this is something my co-admin came up in order to help this gentleman bypass the strict firewall rules at his work place
excuse me for marveling at that.

just because you have a nasty attitude - don't assume I do as well!

and btw: if it is such a simple and easy thing why dont you tell us how we can make it work better, instead of insulting us.

Is this not what the forums are for? so we can get feedback and help eachother?

Gentleman,

I know this block as been difficult, but DON'T GET DISCOURAGED! We are at almost 1.6 Million Shares and I am sure this block will get solved soon! Also our luck is likely to improve on the next block so keep on mining!

This week we have some new features and improvements coming up - if you have any ideas on how we can make your pool better let me know!

We are constantly improving the stats system and we are currently working on an iPhone/Android app, Live Tech Support from the web site, and I am considering reinstating daily reward payments in one form or another. Also I have been paying attention to the votes on the poll and so far it looks like I will be raffling off some piece of PC Hardware to one lucky miner who helps us get Block #4 !

If you have any ideas at all for us send an email to admin@bitminersunion.org

keep mining bro's block 3 is almost dead!

We are at almost 2 Mil Shares!

and I appreciate you guys not giving up - this block cannot go on too much longer.

After this block when we start on our fourth block I will be starting some new promotions to get some new miners and new hashing speed, and I am actually thinking of restarting the rewards payment program in some form or another if I can find a way to make it work.

so dont give up brothers after this block our luck is bound to change!

damn man pushpoold crashed last night some time, but dont worry bitcoind was still up so we did not lose the block we were working on.

Im really sorry about this brothers, I hope you guys were able to mine somewhere else and not not lose mining time (like I did)

the pool is back up now, a crazy hard block is the worst thing for any small pool, and I am sure this downtime is not helping

I have some big promotional plans in store I am kinda waiting until this damn 3rd block is solved before I unveil them,

I want to go big on the 4th block, I have found a way to restructure the daily reward payments in a way that will work for me
so those are likely to come back on the 4th block, I also have some awesome new features and promotions coming along so stay tuned

looks like most miners are coming back now - make sure you come back and mine with us guys and help us finish this 3rd block to maximize the reward you have worked so hard on earning. And dont worry bros i got some plans for block #4

damn i need some coffee

Looks like they deleted a bunch of shares from my account. I don't know if they are accusing me of hopping according to the comment above, but I don't see it anywhere it says that I can't try out your new pool and stop mining there if I felt like it. It's WRONG TO TAKE MINERS SHARES/BTC WITHOUT WARNING. If you are suspecting hoppers taking advantage of your pool, then FIX YOUR POOL. Don't steal peoples share they have already submitted. They are stealing peoples shares saying they are hoppers. No different than calling people terrorist with WMD and invading their country in logic. I'm done with this FACIST POOL THAT STEALS FROM MINERS. Miner's Union my ass. How can I trust you now that you aren't skimping little all the time if you feel "anything" is up.. yeah can't be trusted.. You guys are walking down the slippery slope of pool power tripping. There are much better ways to go about to deal with hoppers than steal from them. How is this act any better?

Post by: cablepair on August 23, 2011, 02:13:59 PM
First of all, please understand that we have never and would never manually remove anyone's shares.

As is stated on the main page of this thread

"We pay with a modified share based proportional payout system. The payout system has been hard coded with a mechanism to protect Union members from cheating via excessive pool hopping"

We have hard coded into our system a mechanism based on a math formula. For security reasons I am not going to give you the exact details
but basically if you pool hop excessively your shares are automatically halved.

No one has ever had their shares halved for simply "trying the pool"

I understand that Pool Hopping is a controversial subject right now - and we were recently listed on a article saying we were "pool hop friendly" this is simply not the case.  They assumed that because we do share based proportional payouts that we were pool hop friendly. Many people have called proportional payout broken, and in a sense it is - unless you modify it - which we have.

You can not honestly say that you have triggered this mechanism, lost your shares and you were not pool hopping - if you are trying to say you were not pool hopping I simply do not believe you - we have been using this system since day one of our pool, you are not the first to lose their shares due to hopping and you will probably not be the last.

Please do not be angry at me because you believed an article that said we were pool hop friendly and were not.

I hope I am very clear to everyone, especially those who have invested a lot of time and hashing power on this treacherous third block, I do not want anyone to lose there shares so please do not pool hop at my pool - if you do - you will not be happy.

edit:

I also added "AUTO POOL HOP PROTECTION" to the title of our thread so there is no mistaking this
you do not want to pool hop here.

also I have added a poll, we have been considering switching to PPLNS payout system
and would like everyone's opinon on it

I had been one of the proponents for changing your payout method before, but with mining not being cost effective for me I can only mine every so often usually in the evenings. I am only mining with the union, but not 24/7 and I would hate to see you try a payout method that required 24/7 mining. (which is a complete change of heart for me)

thanks for your opinion, jpinconline,

I am not sure where we are going to go, you have been a loyal miner its opinions of guys like you that I really appreciate it - dont worry after talking to my co-admin PPLNS is not going to happen - he simply does not have the time to completely recode everything including our database

I just want this pool to work, we had this idea to make a pool that would appeal to your average bitcoin miner, we have been trying to implement all your input and ideas and make this a pool you would love to mine at.

this pool hopping thing has made a huge division in the mining world and it seems that everyone has to take a side in this - like it or not

we have always had this proportional / decaying shares system but we try not to give out all the details of how it works - as soon as you do that you have people abusing it, but we have always been vocal to the fact that we have a mechanism in place to deter pool hopping.

Post by: cablepair on August 23, 2011, 05:57:16 PM
its the pool hopping protection mechanism or "decaying shares" as the programmer who designed it calls it

the system automatically lowers yours shares based on how long you have been away from the pool
jim it looks like yours were just starting to go away.

I already messaged you on this.

I am going to be honest with everyone - my co-admin who programmed all this stuff backed out, hes a brilliant guy but hes got alot of family and work responsibilities - I was talking about redoing the payment system and he just does not have time for it, its his decision and i respect him for it.

however this is really something I can't run on my own, and no one else is stepping up who wants to take the pool over or help me run it... so

Basically the way it looks now, after this 3rd block is solved im going to close mining on the pool, but I will leave the website and bitcoind running so when the block matures you can still get paid for it

if everyone moved all the mining power they have over and get this block killed it has to be almost dead we are almost at 2.2 mil shares

but thats basically it, i put a lot of time and money into making this work, but without someone to help me with it - its pointless

I am sorry gentleman, lets at least solve this third block so all the time we have spent over the last 4 days was not for nothing

I am sure you will get a good payout for it as well

but if you dont at least keep some miners attached your going to lose some if not all your shares
this is the payout system we have and I have no idea how to even start to change it
i never claimed to be a programmer

if everyone moved all the mining power they have over and get this block killed it has to be almost dead we are almost at 2.2 mil shares

Deepbit had a 16mil block...

Blocking poolhoppers as a small pool isn't smart... At the start of a block, people see the high Ghash rating of your pool and that attracks people.
Now you will be stuck on ~10Ghash/s forever...

When a miner at your pool did 120,000 shares, you can't just say "oh sorry, you left for 12 hours so I decrease your shares"... Shares are shares... If you say "I pay prop", you pay prop...
I'm not saying this to defend "poolhoppers" only, there are people who don't hop and did a lot of shares for this block and if they can't mine for a while you can't just steal there shares... That's what it is...

And if you change these kind of things, tell it in advance... Don't change/tell new rules during a game...

I like what you did to the "old miners" and their shares but this disapoints me... And reading the other responses, I'm not the only one...

NO

Is using software ethical?

NO

Is using an advantage in business ethical?

Is laziness (demonstrated by 24/7 mining) ethical?

Magnet: your right, it is possible that this is the most unlucky block in history and it we will submit 20 mil shares before its sovled. That is possible but not probable. We are already above what qualifies for an "average" share block.

the reason my programmer quit on me is beacuse I asked him to code us a new payment system, I have even been talking about coding a pool hopper friendly payment system, but I am not a programmer, and right now I dont have one.

The payment system we use is the same we have always used dude, please read the first page in this thread, I have not changed it since this whole thing happend - and I am sorry it happened like this - but everyone has to realize it is not our fault that some careless person assumed we were a pool hop friendly pool and started posting everywhere that you can pool hop on our pool. They should of dug a little deeper, we have miners who have had decaying shares all the way back on the first block which was solved 6 days ago. This is no secret my friend. I understand everyone expected this to be a pool hop party over here, I read the article myself, they said we were totally vulnerable so that was the expectation everyone had, well it was a mistake on the person who wrote that article and to the people who published us in pool hopping scripts.

but the reality is none of this matters so much now

here are the facts:

a) We have this proportional payout system that has been modified to decay shares the longer you are disconnected from the pool as a means to stop pool hoppers
b) In the midst of this whole pool hopping controversy my programmer and co-admin backed out on me
c) Unless a programmer steps up and decides to co-admin this pool we are shutting down after this block is solved
d) We are at 2.2 mil shares on this block - which when talking about probability we could solve it soon
e) I dont want all these good miners to have wasted their mining time over the last few days - so if you want to make it worth anything please start mining on this block - all I can gaurantee you is I have 2500 m/hash and I will not give up until this block is solved
f) and probably most important I am NOT a programmer and I can not change any of this on my own

This thread is hilarious. Started reading it a few minutes ago while the pools was still open and got to the end of thread when it was announced to be discontinued.

I don't want to sound rude. But why in the world should you care about hoppers when you have so much problems yet to solve. Screwing loyal miners by this self-invented anti-hopper measures instead of making fast and reliable pool. I didn't even hop your pool because 1) it was too slow 2) was unable to save my account password with lastpass, so I couldn't remember my PIN.

In my opinion new pools should be eligus-style. No registration, no wasting user's time for passwords and pins. Just fast to start and simple. No antihopper measures until pool can afford to no longer care about few hundred additional ghash boost at every round.

Please just shut this pool down now and don't wait. Why wait for more submitted shares from users when you are stealing shares from them? How does that make any sense?   ???

Pay out the expected and just get out asap. I'm sure all the missing shares from these "hopper" accounts were NOT going back to the other miners in ANY WAY. Just back to your own pockets. And any of the missing shares were not from any type of "system" rather your own shitty judgment you are passing on other miners without warning just to recover your cost of operation that comes with operating a prop pool.

And I could care less about the loss shares because I just consider toftt. Just keep my shares and just get this thieving pool out of the community.

i have paid our far more than any of you could possibly lose by pool hopping here.

I have spent hundreds of dollars promoting this pool - the first week I was paying out daily reward payments to all miners who had 100 mhash or more to contribute.

I literally spent all I had to promote this pool 100% of it went directly to the miners them selves. If you were an actual miner at this pool you would know that.

there are two options miners have

you can either cut your losses and just go mine somewhere else
or you can try and help me solve this last block so the mining time you spent over the last 4 days is not in vain

whatever choice you make I will respect it.

but those are literally the only two options and I have absolutely no way to change this.

if everyone moved all the mining power they have over and get this block killed it has to be almost dead we are almost at 2.2 mil shares
That's not the way Bitcoin statistics work. Either you find a block or you don't - there is no 'work' done that gets you any closer to solving a block. You still have the same 50% chance of finding a block in another 1.88m shares (the difficulty) as you did when you started the round. If the current round was 10 million shares, I'd be predicting a block find at 11.88 million.

That's also why there is no reason for the literate to be mad at any payment scheme a pool has decided on; any reward system for hash submissions to a pool is arbitrary, because the only one that actually did any work is the person who found the block, everyone else did nothing, and gets a reward for just trying. When you solo mine, any hashing you did in the past that doesn't solve a block immediately "decays" and you don't get rewarded for it. Pool payment systems also decay or discard the consideration of old submissions by miners, just less so, whether it be after a block is found, after a certain number of shares or amount of time, or using a formula. For the illiterate - well, they get mad irrationally because they can't accept blaming themselves.

Also, there is no reason to feel guilt shutting down a pool mid round - nobody found a block, so nobody gets paid. That's as simple as it gets.

Rfcpool.com just re-opened.  I'm headed back there.

LOLWUT? Is that the new plan, disinformation, claiming people won't get paid on pools that switched to a hop-proof system? You are acting like your mommy put the candy bar back on the shelf and slapped your hand.

You have been good to me throughout everything... it is sad that the pool is going to have 2 close, but i understand. As soon as it cools down this evening (currently 87F in my room) im gonna fire up my extra miner and point my 1500 mhash till this block is found. Best of luck to you in the future.  :(

Yeah N is still up for discussion and tweaking. Might actually go PPLNH instead with an H of 48 hours. But offtopic for here.

I think the general concept of this pool being "the Bitcoin Mining Pool designed BY Miners and FOR Miners" wasn't really compatible with the non-transparent scoring system. Of course any pool advertised as proportional is going to attract pool-hoppers and put off serious (non-pool-hopping) miners. Note that I'm not saying this advertising was necessarily intended by the pool itself, but was the resulting message received by the community.

Thanks for your efforts for running the pool though - I've appreciated the care you've taken to respond to each persons concerns in the forum, which is refreshing.

On your actual website there is 0 mentioning of which payout algorithm you use and the stuff about "custom proportional" also seems new to me. This is just another example that noone should trust some small pools that claim to have found some "fix" to proportional of who do NOT tell you straight away how your payments are going to be calculated.

On the first page in this thread is also written by the way: "We believe in transparency and honesty"...

Sorry that it ended like this, but at least it is over now. Whoever still mines here (100% difficulty has already been reached - you're loosing money!) can't be helped anyways. My recommendation would be to just leave the pool and see it as a warning whom to entrust with all your bitcoin earnings!

And you are just acting like the insufferable you that you are. My point is that N=0.5 means that only 24/7, no downtime miners will be able to make a decent rate. And the idea that you'd ever get paid double on N=0.5 is minute. Only on very short rounds would PPLNS with N=0.5 ever make miners any good coin. And very short rounds already payout good with less convoluted systems (apart from PPS).

And BMU is hardly a candy bar getting put back on the shelf. 2 blocks solved ever... 20% stales... hashrate < 5 Gh/s... slow website... IP only accessible site for most its lifespan...
Really, there was never much to love and there is even less that will be missed here.

Seriously, BMU, cut your losses, spare the arithmetically challenged who are still mining you and turn everything off already. Your existence makes BitCoin weaker.

I hope you do not make such claims when you participate in some kind of pooled buying of lottery tickets, cause it will make your ass kicked hard!

you always get paid double or nothing (or quadruple on short rounds)

This is your pool, you can do what you want with it of course, including closing it, however....

to change the payout calculation in the middle of a round, or to withhold payments in the middle of the round without disclosing these policies at the BEGINNING of the round is unethical at best or illegal at worst. I hope the feds never take an interest in you.

Feds don't usually care about fraud cases not in the 5 digits or more. 1 block would be ~400 bucks at current prices.
Plus I think they never found the last round so nothing was actually withheld.

Miners chose to be in a prop. pool which only pays upon finding blocks. Hence no fraud occurred; No block was apparently found (though he did change the reward method during this round)

please. The pool didnt work out. Can you just move on please?

and just to put the facts straight - we never changed any payment method EVER.
since day one we had a traditional proportional payout method with a decaying share modification to prevent pool hopping.
We always stated that we had a mechanism to protect against pool hopping - we never gave specifics, but if you mined with us and pool hopped obviously you found out what happened right?

Was it right, or wrong? or smart or dumb? Well who knows and who cares obviously we did something wrong because the pool failed to succeed. I have moved on. Now cant you do the same thing?

and I am not even going to begin to discuss how absolutely preposterous it is to claim that because you signed up for an account with a pool you have some kind of contact.

from a Legal stand point a pool operator could have you mine 100 blocks for him and he could keep all the coins for himself and there would be absolutely no legal recourse you would have at all.

I am sorry so many people are unhappy. I tried to the best of my ability to make this work. It didn't work. now move on.
