Hi, I am a crypto-hamster and bought bitcoin when it cost 17,000 and decided to trade on the Bitfinex exchange withe margin.
In this business I was not experienced, so I followed the advice of different traders and their signals.
In the end I lost 10 thousand dollars when bitcoin fell to 6k , but it was money that I was ready to lose, i.e. free.
Now I do not have the desire to trade, but I want to earn money on crypto currency, because it's interesting and I believe that the future is for the crypto currency.
Now I want to try to make money on bounty programs.
And I want to ask you advice in this difficult matter. Where to start, and is it profitable at all?

Even if the money was for free it doesn't means that you should be ok with losing it, as that was your money and you could have saved it or invested in a coin and hodled it. Trading isn't for everyone and trading in a volatile market like crypto market isn't very easy and very few people are able to turn a profit from trading.

I think that if you have too many losses in this market then you should stop and should not participate in this market anymore. You can see that the market is constantly changing and difficult to predict, so in order to be commercially viable you need to have a clear and accurate business plan. As you deal spontaneously and unplanned, you have led to such heavy losses.

Just a friendly advice for you fellow trader. Losing 10k$ in trading is too much but if you are still a newbie in trading, its ok.

First of all, I assume you are a newbie and don't know how to trade that much. Maybe you have been FOMO'ed too in some of the coins. I assume too that you joined in the pump and dump signals and lose some bucks because of that. Worst is emotion ate you and you let your emotions do the trading. This is the worst thing you are doing. Letting emotions in trading.

This is just a newbie advice too :). First of all, learn how to read candlesticks and then learn how to use indicators too. The most common indicators are RSI, MACD, Stoch RSI, CCI. Learn how to use them. You need to learn how to use TA too.

In your emotional aspects, you need to be patient because even crypto is very volatile it will not rise in a matter of minutes (although some are). In my experience, some are increasing after an hour or two. Some are minutes but the point is learn how to hold your bought coins. If you don't have patient, you will always sell at a loss and the outcome? POOF!!! MONEY AWAY.

REMOVE YOUR EMOTIONS IN TRADING AND THINK OF A STRATEGY THAT WILL HELP YOU IN TRADING. GOOD LUCK IN TRADING :) :)

10,000 is very big amount in my country that is half million. Better before buying altcoin you should do some research  I think why other traders are failed on trading because they buy altcoin without doing any research  so the coin they buy is not potential coin.

İf you want to follow other people's advice you have to very carefully choose to whom you are going to follow. And You have to always follow more than one people. Their decision is not going to right all times so you have to learn how to trade to understand if their advice is suitable.

Wow, it was too high when you bought and thats the step where you went wrong since the first day. I think it wasn't smart move here and there is no way you are going to recover the profits unless and until you wait longer than normal! I mean 17K USD is a lot and it wont be sooner I see.

For now you better stay grounded and earn bitcoins rather investing into it. You shouldn't be repeating your mistake which you did first time as it will cost you loss only. Wise decision for you is to invest rather trade it, or earn it rather than trade it.

this part is your biggest problem. you followed the idiots on the internet who were misleading you. I don't know what exactly you did wrong to lose that much but as a trader you should know that there are a lot of ways to prevent big losses like that.
it is ok though because you gained a very valuable experience now. next time try to  watch the market closely and see how it moves. you will eventually gain enough experience to not lose money like this and only make profit.

Sorry for your loss, but remember the lessons you have learnt in this process. Bounties are great for higher ranked members but you can take your time to read the rules and start participating in simple ones like the telegram or social media bounties.

This is so bad man! But I would suggest always remember that you can earn new money everyday, as you still breath, so its not the end.

actually, with 10K usd, you bought the experience. I like your patience , my personal advise, follow the bounty campaigns, signature , social media etc. and hold the income for the future.

This is what will happen if you take advice from other people that thinks they are always right, you will lose your money. You should know that when it comes to investing in cryptocurrencies, that you have to make your own decisions not listen on what other people say, of course most people that invested on a specific coin will advice that you should just hold it because they want the price to go up, remember that we are speculating. If you are afraid to lose money again in trading then why not just invest and wait? bounty programs/campaign are good source of profit but not all projects have that potential to grow and most of them will not pay you because they are scammers.

If you invest in this market, the risk is huge and losing money is inevitable. Personally I lost $ 50,000 when trading and I lost my temper when selling all my assets at that time but then I had a lot of new lessons and had to recapture the lost money. The best advice is to be patient and wait as anything can happen in this market

Wouldn't be comfortable trading cryptos on margin unless you take it as a form of gambling. If you're not levered then you only make a loss when you sell. 

First of trading is very risky and you might not want to enter this without accepting the facts that you can loose money by this and if you don't be careful you might actually loose it.

You got a good lesson. On the bounty, you certainly do not earn so much quickly now, I can advise you to buy bitcoin and eth now and keep at least until the end of the year. I'm sure that you will restore everything and remain in positive territory.

Entering to the lions’ den without any protection will surely give you a lot of problem. I suggest you not to enter again in trading without doing the following:

1.   Study technical and fundamental analysis
2.   Prepare a trading plan
3.   Stop being greedy

By doing this it will increase a chance of success. Starting right now you need to accept your loss in order to start the healing process. Acceptance is the first thing you need to do.

you luck of knowledge thats your problem better start first on educating yourself on crypto and also its not advisable to newbie to do day trading because day trading it hard of you dont know what your doing.

Well yes that is right do not invest a worth of money if you are not willing to loose it, but yes for me that is still a lot you should have atlest traded 5 thousand dollars. So yeah it just a suggestion but it already happened. If I may say so that 4000 USD is still a lot for me.

as I understand it bounty programs, it defines as a work of endorsement letting people know about the company so this my mind says:


Social Media, which you can post and endorse the bounty you joined
article, you make one about the specific bounty  
Telegram you need t go online or post even at the group chats
YouTube campaign, making videos
Signature campaigns, posting constructively on a topic and forum.

All in all there is a lot

Sorry for this but you have to be able to encourage yourself and if possible you should spend time to learn how this work and trying to come back again and trade in other to be able to make what you have lose.  I will advise you to see loses as part of trading and you should learn from the mistake that make you lose money.

I think your mistake here honestly following the other people and listing to what they are saying,  everything prices go down a bit and not the way that most people expect to go they just go around the forum and spreed false news, and try to make people sell, if you had any idea about what you were doing you wouldn't made that mistake and you wouldn't lost 10k, all i can recommend you to do is just learn the market before anything.

Try to earn this money, invest in good project and waiting profit, or you can try to participate in bounty and get your lost money. Your should work now and in future and didn't get upset

First of all, if you do not have time and knowledge, never ever try to do the margin. It can turn your balance into 0. Instead of trying to make fast money, spend your time and health to learn trading skills. There are many lessons on the internet which can improve your awareness as well as experience. Do not trade without knowledge. It will make you become a noob

Are you attempting to be a day trader , swing or long term holder?
If you are a day trader i suggest not till you become an advanced trader , If you have done it and you have lost something , No need to be upset if you have learned something , we all have lost in our trading path , it is part of becoming a trader , About margin trading , I'm not agree with it even if you are advanced trader , It is very look like gambling , still you can get a good profit just by day trading of course if you are an advanced trader .

That's sad that you lost a huge amount of money because you bought crypto during the peak. Next time, make sure that you are aware of what you are doing before investing. Cryptocurrency market is risky because it's market price is volatile. Take your loss as a lesson and an experience, do not just listen to advice and signals because most of them is not reliable. As to your question regarding joining bounties, it will be difficult for you now since there's a new merit system in the forum. Joining social media campaign is not that profitable since it gets lesser from the bounty pool unlike in signature campaigns.

I think you should not continue trading anymore, you can see that bitcoin prices in recent days are fluctuating continuously and adjusting in large amplitude, so to be able to trade successfully at this time very difficult. If its free then why not just dont bother those coins. One of the basic rule in trading is ' trade with the amount of money you can afford to lose' more so I believed you were carried away by the speculations surrounding the price of bitcoin that it will reach $50K then. The market in recent days is constantly fluctuating, if you trade without specific knowledge and plan and comply with the specific trade plan, then you lose business is sure to happen. specially when you don't have any experience yet on trading world.

if you were just doing straight trading, you could still have BTC balance in your account (I assume you lost the $$ and no BTC left)
then you might be able to recoup some losses by trading altcoins while waiting for btc price to recover
even if btc never return to $17k+, you can keep accumulating btc from altcoins trading profit
and soon or later you will have enough btc balance equal in value to that you begin with

Most of the time losses is a normal thing in trading. it is very risky because you didn't know if what will happen on your digital currency. Before buying a coin make sure to research and review it first to avoid losses.

If you just jump in to trading, its never use margin because margin trading only for experience trader, volatilitas of crypto so high and you will loss in big money when wrong prediction, and by use margin the lose will be bigger. Now you can join bounty program and also learn more about your trading mistake and make new trading plan.

I think there are 2 options. You can either use your experience to start again on another chance or just leave this violated market

I can't believe this, because being a trader when he experiences loss, automatically he'll look for something alternative to make trading more profitable. You can start again and learn from that experienced. Never to trust anyone again aside from yourself in trading because it's too risky to do so. I'm glad that you invest the money you don't need much, so I can assume you are still capable to invest some money here. Invest on bitcoin again, don't lose hope, learn more and for sure you can win in this market in the future.

to start in bounty you nees to visit the bounty thread check and follow all the instructions given in the bountythread. Profitable? yes, but you need to put more effort to earn and base on your rank this will be hard for you to earn decent amount. Its better to find a real world job than hoping to recieve decent amount in bounties.

I believe if you do not really have a trade experience you should not use large capital, only with a small capital to look for the next new experience with big capital. For now, it's good to quit when trading because I think your stress level should be high and the emotions are certainly not controlled.

This is where you fucked up, right here.  My opinion is that most people who trade and who post on forums like this don't know what they're doing, and none of them predicted bitcoin would drop after hitting $20k.  So it's not surprising you lost a ton of money by listening to them.  Most of them are into technicial analysis, which is a bunch of bullshit.  Tell me how many of them knew a crash to $6XXX was coming or that we'd be where we're at today.  Probably not many, and if they made money on the market, they're not posting here.

You take your chances when you trade bitcoin.  There's no fundamental analysis to be done, regardless of how many people tell you it can be done.  FA has to do with stocks and bonds, not crypto.  And TA--as I said--is voodoo science.  Buy-and-hold is the way to go IMO, but you have to not buy bitcoin at its all-time high. 

Maybe you should increasing your knowledge of cryptoworld first, or you will pay a lot to earn experience.

yes it's profitable if you are willing to work on bounty, but the amount that you will get might be lower than you can earned on you previous works , since if you can afford to lose 10k, means you sure have more money that you already earned before.
note you must know that on bounty not all project will pay you, sometimes they will leave the bounty hunters or you will be paid really-really low.

When you compare the price of bitcoin to 17,000$,you may come to conclusion loss of 10k$.I had one idea for you,buy some Bitcoin with today price and hold that bitcoin.Then hold both of this bitcoin ,till the price reach 17,000$.Then you will get same 10,000$ as a profit.

Just hang onto bitcoin.  It'll go back up eventually.  Don't panic sell, that's the biggest mistake you can probably make.

I know I shouldn't blame you, but really want to ask, why did you make the mistake of selling when the price is $6k-$7k? Then,  the market was going through a correction and it was a normal phase. If you have the capital, I advice you to purchase some altcoin, which have high potential and some bitcoin (not necessarily 1btc). Participating in bounty is good  but there might be ups and down of holding worthless coins.

I am not really sure how much you invested when the price was $17k to loss ten thousand dollars and still you say that you were ready to loose that much amount, it does not look right, why would anyone invest that much amount of money when you have not much experience in the market, i could very well tell you that you never invested that much amount by the way you construct things about the situation.  :P

Well I do have a couple questions to ask before we continue, have you sold the coins yet? As if you haven't then in theory you haven't lost anything yet, everything is on paper until you actually sell. You also cant say that you shouldn't think that all of this money is fine to lose, even if you can afford it it's not something which you would want to happen.

You have to take your emotions out of this trading, HODL and let the market do what it does. That's the best thing to do.

Sorry about that. You must be rich for losing $10,000 and not worrying yourself over it. It is good that you moved on. But you are making your initial mistake again by following signals from different traders and you are now also asking us here to give you different advices. It is the same mistake you will make. I can suggest to you to take your time and read materials on trading and not just follow everybody.

When I saw this post I already made comment about this, 17K USD was too high when he bought and there is no way for the OP to have patience and wait for the BCT to grow back to that ATH.

Selling those coins right now will insure huge loss, and it would be impossible to catch the break even point after doing that too. So I would say holding is the only option for now. Apart from this they can buy new coins with completely new money, and benefit.

The guy was simply unlucky. I would better recommend him NOT to sell his Bitcoins and altcoins but wait for a long time when the cryptocurrency will grow. In this case, the loss will be less definitely.

Buying bitcoins at $17,000 is unlucky. it was profitable for a short time as it actually went up above $19k but you had to sell quickly in order to profit from it. Now it will take a while to get back to the all time high but do not worry, it will get there eventually and far beyond that

Losing of this much of the amount in trading is a very much disturbing situation but the fact is you need to keep your nerves under your control so that you may not end up making any other foolish decision. That's a huge loss and same thing has also happened with me where I lost most of my invest but I did not give up started from basic again and work hard and start with small investment again and slowly I grow up my portfolio again and now I have recovered my that loss also and now I am in profit.

It’s a good strategy to turn your attention on bounty programs. If trading is not applicable in your life style then you consider bounties. But same as in trading, you need patience and knowledge in bounty. If you are lucky enough bounty is a good source of income. Then if you decided to go back in trading, you need to do your assignment. Study the mechanics of trading using TA and FA.

I think if you really want to get krypto, I think you should really understand about krypto, so you will not lose anything from krypto, because with trade you have to be patient and careful. so you will get many good benefits.

I agree with most other suggestions here. You should STOP and re-think your strategy since you are clearly not yet skilled to trade in that magnitude. Yes it's harsh, but we need to face reality and learn from our mistakes to grow.

Many people are too greedy and expect a very high price, when the price has risen, they continue to hope for more, but unfortunately only one night they suddenly drop down very quickly, they I did not get my hands on and lost. wow, that's a lot for me. in trading requires patience and also understand the movement of the market. we can not trade if we rely on emotional. but if you want to make money through bounty, that's good and also I suggest if you have a lot of money, you can follow ICO to invest in it or also you can buy bitcoin or ethereum then you just need to hold for a long time. Margin trading is so risky and you may all lose your money if you are not lucky enough to win the bet. Just like a gamble margin trading need luck and not skills but if you have luck then you earn a huge amount of money.

How profitable is it?  I think everything that you do need some knowledge in order to succeed. I think trading will be more profitable than bounty.

It is not okay to lose a lot of money but still it is not okay to be sad and be nothing if you lose that I suggest that you must take that as a lesson for you to not do the same mistakes again. If you have ever encountered that lose do not lose hope already and do not get angry also. Just be patient and pisitive thinker and do some ways to recover them back but if there is nothing that we can do. if you lose that much capital better you can absorb and self-correct what mistakes you make and when trading again I hope you do not repeat the same mistakes and never affected by news or news that can make you panic that makes you lose so much . patience is the key to success you desperately need.

Well its very easy to loss money in trading. Sometimes you can be confident of making profits and once you throw away all the money you plan go trading by one simple mistake. When you follow the wrong signals, wrong groups, you become a victim. There is no time to cry. You must find a way and learn what you did wrong and correct it. Study TA, FA and take good signals and you will make good profit from your trading.

You hasbeen loss because greedy and did not use stop loss. Before trading by use leverage/margin we have to know the risk and possibility the money turn in to zero. I started trading 3 years ago but when i want to try margin trading i just use $100 because i know the risk. In trading we have to understanding the risk and by know it we can manage it better.
