Title: Backup is important
Post by: lavishlifing on June 19, 2018, 12:52:36 AM
Good day, just want to share my experience,
I am using 2fa as my security in my emails and exchange accounts, so one day I nearly lost my phone and that phone holds majority of my pins, 2fa, etc. so I thought I lost all, luckily I found the phone. So now I'm thinking of buying an extra phone for backup. What else do you recommend for backup?

It depends on the website honestly. If the website uses google 2fa, then you can easily back that up. There is another application for both iOS and Android (Called Authy) which actually stores all your 2FA based on your account, so even if you lose your phone, you can just log into the website and either get the 2fa codes there, or restore it to another phone, and it works fine.

Personally. All the websites that I use 2fa on also have an option to text the info to me. So worst case scenario, I lose my phone. I can get a new phone, port my number over, and get the 2fa sent there, which i can then use to log in and disable 2fa and then redo it from scratch. Almost any website that uses 2fa as an application (google authenticator or w/e) also has the option to send you the same code over text message. If the website doesn't do that, I consider it a bit of a dangerous game to play.

Agreed, I have an extra phone for gmail authenticator backup, also make sure to secure a pin code, you can use a paper or something and store in properly.

Just have a secure place to safeguard the details of your wallet. In particular the recovery words or the phrase. Recently in a wallet I had 0.1btc, and got hacked. Someone took it into control and they didn't transferred the bitcoin. If I had the recovery words I could have recovered it. To my bad luck I've lost the recovery words.

I was thinking about it also. Its really hard if you lost your phone with important details regarding your investments. I am not that techie if ever i lost my phone this might be a disaster for me. Maybe i will use the phone of my wife as my back up if somethings happen. And also back in email would be nice too. Using some hardware wallets is also a good option especially if you have big amount coins. Hackers will do anything just to have easy money.

That's a lesson learned for you that don't just put everything on a single phone, recovery phrases, seeds, private keys and of the same must be backed up.

Having an extra phone is a good idea and you can leave the other one at your home while bringing the other one.

Writing up those important words on a piece of paper is an easy, simple and cheap way of backing up.

2fa is essential to our accounts most especially in exchange accounts. Back up on our 2fa is the best thing to do and a must to ensure the security of our accounts. Now that you know how important it is to have a back up on your accounts, then be responsible for that.

yeah make sure that backup any data, because right now is really important if you stored a lot of important thing and your money that required 2fa

Backing up data is important so that we can restore it to factory settings if you replace damaged or corrupted mail addresses, which will help protect your data from being lost or lost in the field. not worth it

Just backup the qr code or the string that is given to you at the initialization of 2fa. You dont need to have two phones that way, you can just replicate from your stored seeds
It would be wise do do it so, but i have to admit i didnt do it. I should one of these days

Yes I agree on that. Back up is really important in order for us not to loss a huge amount of profit. Because some code is really important hear in crypto feild we can be failed on it if we don't make an important bad up on every code on different transaction. We need to make back up for good and for our security.

For me even if you have just one smart phone you can make a back up you can write in the note book, on paper and in your diary and keep it important to backing up your Private key or QR code and Gmail. So even if you still have the phone you can still access it using a laptop or computer you will not worry that others might get your bitcoin. But your plan is good too i'm just try to give you some idea how to secured your data. good luck!

Do you think the backup is as important as if you had a transaction? If the backup does not have that feature then all transactions will not be recorded and the data will lose their functionality. And we will not be able to restore them

Not only that but also wallet backup too, because i also have the same experience when my pc crashed and must format it and i never had a backup of those wallet. I lose around 0.2 BTC because of it, and some altcoins too. Lesson learned though, backup your wallet before something bad happen.

Yeah, you don't need to have a new phone just to backed up do this and you will be safe.
I personally don't use 2fa since I don't have much wallet and I know my email will be safe with the password I used but yeah I think this is really important, I will also start knowing how to use this security.

Backup is very important incase of missing your passwords or etc.  Backup is useful especially on Cryptocurrency Wallet. There's a lot of backups like 15 words or 12 words and pins.  Sometime using backup makes us feel easy because when we lost our primary passwords that's the time to use our backup. Backup is important.

Old ways still the best way to keep your back ups, this process even it will take time but what important is you still have control if ever that you lose your phone, buying another one for back up also can't assured you since there's also things to consider, what if your phone got damage or what if it was stolen from your house, same scenario that not too often to happen but also still possible, writing everything inside your diary or even in a notebook that you can kept inside your room or closet will be fine.

as much as possible should have many backups, from other phones, from pc / laptop, and also would be better if there are offline backups that you note on the paper. because the anticipation of loss of mobile phone or damage is very important to have a backup.

Not only have a backup phone that is offline purely for those services you listed, but you should have a printed copy of your secret keys somewhere as well. That way if you miracously lose two phones or devices, you will have a hard copy waiting for you at the bank vault.

i think one of the best way to protect your 2fas and important data is to store it in your personal computer, have a snap on it to save it as a photo then store it in safe place, or send it to your email, losing your pins happens, or loosing your phone that has everything in it is so frustrating, your idea of having another back up phone is good too. there is an app called google authenticator that can help you with 2fa.

Date can be even backed up on a hard disk, pen drive, on a cd drive and etc. Its a techy era. We have lot more ways to save our data secured. This is indeed a useful topic for everyone. If you have systems, lap-tops , tablets, save in those devices as well. Though still everything is risky, we can find out ways to save our private datas.

Right using a pincode can save it all.though theres alot of computer experts now that can easily open your pin cone by using technology, what we do is use laptop aside from cellphone or much better to use personal computer so this may assure your safeties because you wont be able to lost the computer in your house

To be honest in our country its normal that people have backup phones sometimes people owns three mobile phones. You do not need to buy an expensive phone just buy a durable cheap smart phone for back up. Then every time you upgrade your phone then you can keep your old phone as a backup.

We really do need back up of our passwords, emails, wallet addresses or else we are going to lose our everything. It does not mean that we already save our info we are safe. We need a back up ALWAYS ! You're so lucky you got your phone back because my friend loss his laptop where everything is placed. He did not recover his accounts anymore.
I don't think another phone is really the answer. Put back up on your flashdrive, laptop , cellphone, upload to you secure email, and take good care of your phone.

Backup is very important especially in unexpected circumstances. In my experience I always keep backup into my 2fa, pin code and private keys in my hardrive storage and electronic storage. Also, it is mandatory to do once you have an important account like digital wallet and trading account.

Backup is a must and should be the first things to do. I've learned it by myself. My smartphone got bootloop two weeks ago. I already backup my 2fa and pin before it happened but i forgot to backup my byteball wallet. Fortunately i managed to fix my smartphone after flashing it without erasing my prior data. Since then, i bought a cheap but decent smartphone just to keep my 2fa working. Even though i already backup all of my 2fa codes, i can still get troubled if i lost my smartphone since 2fa is only working on smartphone.

what if you lost the two phones? Basically i think phones or systems are not always the best way to store your data. You can print it out on a hard copy and store in the bank or any other place you know it wont get stolen or crashed.
Am of the opinion that you can also store in your email address, encrypting with a number or alphabet only you can detect so that even when scammers or fraudsters get hold of they cant not decrypt it. Th email address helps you get access to it whenever and wherever yo need it.

So your best bet is to put all the money in your wallet instead of the exchange, so you only need to protect your private key, then everything is safe and you can back it up indefinitely.

We need to double secure our account and wallet. If using 2fa  be sure to save the recovery words or phrase not jut on your phone but also on a paper then keep it secure. So,that even you lose you phone you can still recover your account using the recovery phrase. Hackers are wise ,so we need also to be wise in keeping our account information.

My suggestion is you should protect your phone you don't worried about the security because currently small transponder is available in many store you should missed your it will always active in your Gmail not outlook account so easily log in your computer you will find the phone. If you use two phones anytime you will missed your phone. So better keep it safe or follow my instructions you will never loose your phone.

2FA is for security purposes only but when there is a time that you lost your credentials here, then you are really fu****-up.

Having a backup is an obvious thing to do not just in crypto world but for all your important files e.g notes, passwords, payments list, private keys (crypto), PIN (bank) and many more. My usual practice is storing it in an offline flash drive and to my external HDD.

So now I'm thinking of buying an extra phone for backup. What else do you recommend for backup?

Extra phone costs much but if you afford it then it's your decision. Backups can be done at flash drive, external hdd, cloud backup, simple draft in email provider (yahoo, google) , google drive, dropbox etc. It's up to you where you think it will be safe.

Backup is a very important thing which everybody should do. I think that the best approach is to use an external flash drive where you can hold your backup data.
It is very good that you have started this topic to discuss because it will be useful for thousand other traders to prevent losing data by making backups.

I have experienced it before, then I ask for help by the customer service from them to open my account and they respond to me to give the terms that the account has got us like photo identity, proof of your photo (selfie). In this case, 2fa is very vulnerable and should be on guard carefully because if it is lost it will be very difficult to restore it again. My suggestion you should use apple smartphone, if something happens or lost the phone, you can take it back through iTunes then you move to new mobile to move data.

To once do not lose access to services can do so: on all services, where there is an opportunity to make the code, take a screenshot of this code.
Then you can find the place where you will store these screenshots.
For example, an encrypted disk or an archive.
Or a computer without access to the Internet.

As much as possible don't put all your info in one place. For example, it is better to use a flash drive to store your data since it is much convenient to hide it in a safe place than storing your file on pc, smartphone and tablet where it can easily phished if your security is not that good. Always track your movements, logins and wallets. Always check for token movements in your wallet to prevent any suspicious activity. Do not click unsecured sites and message from spam and unknown sources.

Since this time phone is necessary to use phone for google authentication to login to to exchanges like binance, i think its better to just trade on exchanges with few amounts and just keep the stash of tokens you got on your wallet that needs not your phone verification but then of course you make it safe that no one knows your priv key and wallet password.

Yes its very important nowadays cause we dont the accident right . I assured to you that you must have a back up to your account and files so they would not easily lost or got stolen. I support even the Broken down by a new i am going on your in this era, right? I support that you are respectable with back up

backup is just as important as if you made a transaction? If backup does not have that feature then all transactions will not be recorded and data will lose its function. And we will not be able to recover it.

Backup is a very important thing that must be done by everyone. I think the best approach is to use an external flash drive where you can store your backup data.

Well we have that in case of emergency, what is important is to save every important information regarding your wallets, since it was really hard to lose the information to connect with your wallets, and I think remembering is not pretty enough to do, so it was better that have some assurance and I rhinke taking notes and even buying an storage for everything that you have to keep.

Having back up for saving our private keys or passwords is necessary so we won't be worried if ever your situation will happened to others. Buying extra phone is not practical but if you lots of money then you can, but for me I will go for manual like saving it in my notebook and keep it in a safety place .

I believe in addition to the 2fa codes stored in phones via the barcodes, you also have the passkey/code. If you misplaced your phone, you can have access to your account again via the security key code.

I am using the same as well. I believe that it is really important that we have backups for our important files and accounts. I am also using another phone to secure some of my files. It is risky if we'll not secure our accounts and private keys so we better handle it properly and appropriately.

Backup is really important, but it is also really important to make sure that you have a very security backup.
The biggest pro  of making a backup is simply the main purpose that people makes a backup for- to have a second chance to restore their funds in-case that they lost the main way access to their funds.
Also a biggest con that some are not aware of is the fact that anybody can access your wallet if they have your backup or backup seed.
It means that you need to protect your backup seed as it was your wallet, and not forgive security on this just because you don't daily use it to transfer funds.

I'm using color note application to back up my google authenticator/2fa codes, seeds, and phrases, it is basically an advanced notepad android version with the capability to back up and restore all the notes saved encrypted with a master password to protect against hacking and frauds, just make sure you will secure the back up files for future restorations when something went wrong, well you can use your preferred application if you want to, make it sure it is not a spyware or malware app.

Yes, you are right mate saving it in a flashdisk or any memory storage so that you can save your password as a back up of all your important informarion. Me , I also save it in USB, in my computer ,my mobile phone also I write it in a notebook atleast I have lots of option if ever my files will be corrupted or lose.

Yes we should have backups to double secure our assets storage, then in case of losing our passwords or other factors that might cause of losing, we have backups to open our accounts.

That was one of the reasons I had to move all my accounts 2FA to authorize as it brings the backup solution most of the time just in case you end up losing any of your device. It is understandable that it would be worrisome in cases like this, but at least with that features on this application, it makes it easy not to have to wonder what would happen to having access to your accounts in cases where you lose your device.

I have never actually seen a way no one won't be able to unless they ended up not being able to remember some security details they used for the backup, which in that case is where problem will start.

It is one of the most important thing that you should do once you enter the online world because when you have backup then you will not worry about the possible hacks or anything like that might happen in the future compare to a person that doesn't have any backup which is very risky for him if something goes wrong.

I still prefer to scribble them down on a small notebook and put it somewhere safe like a vault or something in case of emergency, that is if you really value your security passwords for your wallet addresses. Or you can just buy a hardware wallet to place all your coins in there too but would cost something.

This is necessary, because your details are very important so you must have back up. If you lose you 2fa, there is no way to get it back so better to back up every details of your wallet. In cryptoworld you should have back up for everything, a lot hackers so be ready for that to protect yourself.

Agreed, I have an extra phone for gmail authenticator backup, also make sure to secure a pin code, you can use a paper or something and store in properly.
I really do not know why I prefer Authy to Gmail authenticator, which is by the way though. Backing up is not a problem if you can at least remember the email you used while setting up the authenticators be it, Authy or Gmail Authenticator.
For Authy however, it even helps with back up passwords which you can easily use to log in on any device after downloading the app and be able to have access back to all your linked 2FA logins so I have never found losing my device to be a problem.

If you lose your phone, the Authy program will disappear with it, but there is a backup code to get it back and you can reactivate it in another phone using this code. If you don't remember this backup code, it will be canceled after about a month, after you have applied for the exchanges and verified your own.

If i understand correctly, you are planning on buying a backup for the backup?

Seems a little to extreme if you ask me (unless probably if you are holding millions of dollars worth of crypto). If you actually use some (or at least google's) 2FAs they give you the option to back this up further with pass phrases. I would consider and trying going that route first. If not, then i guess you could get a cheap phone and keep it for emergencies. Good luck to you and congratulations on your holdings.

Thanks for this one and I think I need to done this writing stuff immediately as I have no back up phone for that purpose.. Maybe our vault is good for it as a hiding place for this paperwork.. I must have done it a year before,, but because of a busy schedules this have been forgotten..

Thanks that I’ve read it again about this precautionary measures.. Better late than never..

You don't need to buy a phone for extra security. Whenever you create the 2FA login then Google will always ask you to save private words or paraphrase or will prompt the window to print it. You can always use them to recover all your accounts in case you loose your phone.

Google has already taken care of that thing, they have already thought about the lost phone situation and made extra security about it. May be you have not read the terms properly. Most of the people dont actually.

+1
You need at least 3 backups way , sometimes single backup not strong enough to make you securely guaranteed. 2 online backup , 1 offline backup for example. There's nothing 100% guarantee safe , at least you have to put a lot of efforts, don't make yourself in deep regret later due you didn't set up a well backup. I bet everyone has experienced something like this.

For most of the 2FA applications at least for authy, it allows you to back up all your stuff with a password which I believe with your username and your phone number, this can be retrieved easily, so I have never imagined that to be a problem in the case of me losing my phone as long as I remember every single details of my email account.

It is good though having an extra phone as a backup in cases where you end up losing one and that is reasonable as there is no harm in it.

I think we share the sane level of fear here. I know why I do not like the Google authenticator thing is because of stories about how users can not get access to sites or their funds once the device to which that authenticator is tied to is lost. I like sites that give option of SMS and emails and most websites are beginning to have this options too.

I agree, hackers will do everything just to break your security, always make sure that you are updated with all the latesr security that you can have, since information this days are more valuable than money, hackers can easily blackmail you or worst, steal your money and break into your home. It is much better to take caution than trying undo what they had done, since the are times that hackers are more skilled than the rest of us, and though they can't get away with it, the damage is already done.

This is the best thing that we must ponder all the time, that all important information that we have especially our private files should have a back up copy. Because like what you have said you accidentally lost your celphone and then all important files that you have are stored in your celphone and you don't have any back up. So its a very big problem, that's why I recomend you my friend to save your files in your private USB storage, external storage devices and also your personal laptop for security reason.

interesting suggestions to keep the safety and privacy of the email by using the code through the mobile phone number and it is commonly done and the advantages and disadvantages are more or less like you, my suggestion you have to have two mobile phone number, the first is special to accept unnecessary phone and sms whichever is only where you work and the second special number for mobile life style browsing sosmedia and so on, there I avoid the weakness of excellence when we use the phone connection system with email, and my second suggestion connect with your most important email with additional emails, once again aiming to simplify and complicate access to major emails and additional emails, hopefully useful and successful always

Losing my phone is a mini-heart attack for me that's why I really take care of this all the time. If I lose this my social media, bitcointalk and digital wallet (it is secured tho) accounts will now go to those "lucky hands" so I can't really afford to lose it.

To give solution for this, I made a list for all of my usernames, pins and passwords of my accounts in a piece of paper and place it to a safe place so that I'll have a backup. I just really wish that the "lucky person" who will get my phone is not an IT expert, it is much safer that way because there's a big chance that he will just do Factory Reset to remove the screen lock and  access my phone — meaning, all datas will be deleted and the system will go back to its default before he can have it.

I like your idea of having an extra phone. Honestly, I think of that already, sooner or later I will buy 2 more phones so that I will now have 3 in total: one for gaming, one for my crypto businesses that I will only use in our home and one that I'll use on public areas.

The best solution really is to have a 2nd phone. But I want to know what phone you have, because if you have an Android you can at least deactivate it with your Google account, if you lose your phone.

I think you should not buying new phone just for back up your 2FA. You can back up the bar code and restore the 2FA. I am already have experience about this and lucky for me, i am back up that code, so when i have a new phone, i am just filling that code on google autheticator

Backup is very important. Backup are very important for protecting your wallet. Backup are also very important for your different addresses. This can easily protect you from different types of risks. So backup is very important for me.
Definitely backup is important  especially nowadays that alot of hackers. And incase you lose any of your soft copy,it is important to have also the hardcopy.Mostly, wallet addresses that are having private keys are important to have a back up. And when you like using mobile and lose it so all important info or file saved in there it is important to have a copy or backup.

Yes backup is important, I think when it comes to make surely and fully secured to our important Private key or any details regarding to our private account we need to send it into our own email to yahoo mail, g-mail, or face book, just to be secured ourselves and lastly you just need to have extra pocketbook and all your details must be in your pocketbook for quick access if you do not want to open your account.

Well, Its a very important to have a back up for all of your account, because sometimes you will suddenly forget something or you can lose suddenly your phone. And you should always make a back up and store it on your laptop, tablet or if you hesitate to put it on your gadgets than can be be hacked or can be deleted, maybe you can write it on a piece of paper so that even though you lose your gadgets at least you have a copy in a paper. Always be prepared and have a plan to store your files in a safe place.

Actually this is also my worries as I think once you lose your phone then you can't log in to another device. Or I am wrong with this? As I already tried this but nothing happened. Hope Google authenticator have an update for this so we don't need to bother that much because 2fa is really a thing.

No way to recover the funds that has gone it's private keys, it's not only difficult but there's no chance of getting it again.

Getting back ups like what the recommendations here will suit someone that wants to be safe with his funds. Also don't mess with websites that are asking such important answers including your funds, leave those sites immediately.

Much better if all your password and usernames are stored in your hdd for backup and one of the most important thing never ever lost your email that you use to register in a site its one of the most common way to recover your account by activating the link sent in your email if you try to recover your account without 2fa this works perfectly if you lost your phone.

It is not hard. Just make sure you remember all the details and most especially the email you used in setting up the authenticator app and I am sure you should be fine. There is an integrated backup in most of them, and that makes it easy to access them all back if you end up purchasing a new device. Nevertheless, having a new device is not a bad idea though, as long as you have the bucks to do so, and it is not affecting you negatively in anyway.

Well this was happen to me also just few month ago. Even i lost my smartphone where i was holding all the important wallet id's and private key and then i got my phone back after two days. But after that incident i used three things for the backup purposes one is using another smartphone on the other side for 2FA, and other login purposes. The second option is writing it on either Online google docs or write it in a file a upload it on google drive. Third option is using a extra email id where you send all the keys and ids and also i manage all these things with strong 2FA Authorised passwords.

It is indeed important. Why? Well in fact there are a lot of individuals who worries and regrets because of the fact that they do not have any back ups to their private keys, passwords on email, exchange account etc. Let us not be that person who has no ways of intervention, and only acts when their happens a loss. I recommend Grandfather, Father, Son back up system, it is a way of making 3 duplicate copies of back up in a compact disk or etc and put these backups, in different places. Do not pud it in one place.

You should print the recovery code for 2FA and other information so that even if the soft copy is gone, you still have a back up hard copy and you can have three copies of everything so that in case others will be destroyed or gone, you still have back up. I heard someone about having three copies of everything so that you are assured you have back ups. It is hard operating in a digital world when you don't have multiple copies of files. Make sure that you are the only one who only know your private keys though or someone you truly trust as we don't know what will happen in the future.

Storing wallet and other pertinent files in a safe place, creating a backup of wallet can protect against computer failures and human errors. It can also allow you to recover your wallet if mobile or computer is stolen if you keep your wallet encrypted. It can fail, data can be corrupted, can be lost, stolen, or destroyed. Data backup software can help you protect and restore your data when something goes wrong.

If you want and extra phone yes you cant because the more backups is safer whenever you lost your phone. You should always back up your files. It’s one of the most important things a person needs to do with their electronics. You never know when things will go wrong and you don’t want to lose any of your stuff when such events occur.

I recommend to you Altaro VM backup will work very well for exchange backups and exchange item level recovery here. The unlimited edition offers this functionality where you'll be able to restore even a single email item.

In trading, your decisions are only elements and factors that has supreme effect on your profile. If your decision are in equilibrium with the market trends then definitely you are going to make best results out of it. But in opposite case, you might lose majority of the sensation and results can be against you. So better is to learn the decision making and for that your data is important so make backup.

Yeah I agree with you ,,aside from that the best backup at all is you can wrote at your personal notebook like diary to make sure you will not loses because ink is sharping than mind on other hand  if your back up is in your pc  having a comprehensive backup scheme in place doesn't only protect you against the trauma of accidentally deleting your files. It also gives you a safety net if a virus hits your PC, hackers hold your information hostage, or your kids tip a glass of water over your MacBook. After an error like this, backups might be your only option for retrieving your files, so you shouldn't delay putting a system in place.

as much as possible should have many backups, from other phones, from pc / laptop, and also would be better if there are offline backups that you note on the paper. because the anticipation of loss of mobile phone or damage is very important to have a backup.

Back up system is really important... Yes, it always safe if we follow the simple writing or printing all personal data and keep it in a safe place. We can not just keep all the data using phone, pc, laptop,etc.etc. all this devices are subject to either lost or damaged at any given time. But if we lock our data in one place secured and free from anything i am sure this is safe for long period of time.

This means there is also a lot of things you can do to stop people getting your personal information. In my opinion, you should be good at protecting your own information by staying active in the market as well. There are some softwares that provide extra security. Search them out.

Not only that but also wallet backup too, because i also have the same experience when my pc crashed and must format it and i never had a backup of those wallet. I lose around 0.2 BTC because of it, and some altcoins too. Lesson learned though, backup your wallet before something bad happen.

Pretty big lose, 0.2 BTC just because of neglecting a common thing for wallet backup. I used to use SMS 2fa for blockchain wallet, but not anymore since I've moved to electrum, a better wallet with various advantages and features, just write down all the passphrase to a book and no need to worry if you lose the phone.
ever lost all my phone data once after accidentally reset through email, what makes me worry is google authenticator to access some exchanges accounts.
However, there is an option to reset 2Fa by click on "Lost Your Google Authenticator?" and manually submit Google's 16 digit-key, just follow all the instructions to regain access to your account, but maybe some sites such as binance1 require you to provide id, passport or driver's license and then take a selfie holding your identity card.
Many two-factor services will give you a set of codes that can only be used to access your account once. After each code is used, it's gone. Most of the time you can access these in the same place where you change your two-factor authentication settings to begin with.
You should definitely print them or or write them down and keep them in a place where you can find them. Ideally, they would be separate from your phone, perhaps in a fireproof box or safe with other important paper documents.

In some sites they don't require too much verification and security so you could also say that you don't need to hassle more when it comes to saving important codes to your phone, but that doesn't mean you are no longer securing your accounts, but just be careful incase you lose your phone or other gadgets holding your important files.

No need to buy a new phone just save a 2FA code or keep the barcode when you create it in a safe place. If your mobile phone at any time lost you can use it again by entering the code or scan barcode that you save it.

I also want to make many backups as much as possible. I want to put it on my phone, my laptop, or even right it down on piece of paper or notebook. I experienced one time where I almost lost my keys and codes in my laptop after it updated and got corrupted. Luckily I haven't reformatted it yet before remembering that I have no backups of my primary keys and address in my phone or even on paper. I'm just thankful that i still have the hard drive to backup some files. Now it's a lesson learned for me.

Wallet backup can be said to be the most important part of digital asset security!
Write important information on paper, do not back up on the computer, the computer is vulnerable to virus attacks!
Anti-virus software on your computer must be updated regularly!
Also back up your wallet to your family!

Having a clean hard drive for back up and keeping it on a safe place is the best and that is correct that you should have 2fa in order to have another layer of security so you will not get in a high risk and you will not get a high chance of getting hacked with that 2fa. You can also have a strong layer of security if you will have a strong password which consists of letters, numbers and special characters.

Yes, we really need to make frequent back ups of our passwords and other important things that needs to back up, not only in one device or place but maybe we need to make more back ups in other places to be more safe.

You should be, note taking is great. Personally speaking, I usually forget things big or small, then I came to the point that I should not commint to this kind of system so I make a schedule, so I can keep myself on track and I make a list of the things I shouldn't forget like addresses, passwords and even wallets and it is a good back up ,if you come to the point that you lost your gadget.

Agreed, I have an extra phone for gmail authenticator backup, also make sure to secure a pin code, you can use a paper or something and store in properly.

Back up is very advisable to save files in case of any emergency cases like you lost your phobe or someone stole it from you. You can have other phone or you can also save file to your laptop, hard drive or even flash drive. I personally  back up files on my flash drive with OTG so it easily back up my files on my phone.

I recommend you to write down all the private information of yours and put it in the safest place you think no one can find out. Don't just put all personal and private informations in 1 gadget only. Make sure your money is not in one place only. You should divide it and place in different wallet. And the last thing is make sure you protect it in all cost.

Yes its an easy thing but people do still failed up to do such basic thing. We do only realize things when we already experience the loss funds. Back up would always be important because unexpected things do really happen along the way. I had similar experience when almost losing out my phone where it do have the sim card where you can able to open accounts by SMS verification. When it comes to wallet even putting up on a paper or USB would already do.

I think they provide you with back up keys which you can use to recover your accounts if you lost your phone any time. They will also give you temporary keys 12-15 which you can store electronically or write down. These keys will always work regardless of synchronisation to open up your account and will ask you to change or upgrade the device to continue using the service of 2fa. I think they have lot of safety measures given already and you should follow them so that you wont get into trouble like this anytime.

If you have forgotten the information you just traded and do not have the backup feature, it is difficult for you to lose the data you need to know about important backups.

Private keys are even totally different things here and for this reason I decided to print out my private keys and put them in a much secured environment while I also saved some on my email since it is the easiest to access at any point in time with maximum security on my mail.

With respect to the 2FA that the OP mentioned, I really do not expect that to be a problem since the like of Authy has a backup program inbuilt within the app itself and that makes it easy for anyone who ends up losing their device to retrieve the information present in the app back.

Having extra mobile is good but I don't think it is necessary if you have a computer, you can store all your pins and 2fa backup code there and if you want you can store it in a google drive but not recommended because if someone get that then they will take all your funds.

Data backup is the activity of copying data that has been stored in a device to other storage media such as USB flash, external Hardisk, or cloud storage. Backing up data is arguably a very important activity that is often forgotten by many people.
And it seems all the data needs to be backed up, ranging from hosting data, computer data, contact phone data, and others. Everything needs to be backed up and you save the copy so that if something goes wrong, then you still have a copy.

backup is very important specially if you have something to keep, I got my mycelium wallet before and suddenly my phone got crash it has .5 btc by that time since I dont have any backup of my wallet .5 flies away.

2fa is also important so that your acct is much secured than without a 2fa.
One reason why it is important to learn everything about the space before making an attempt to do anything. A lot of people have lost the access to their account or wallet just simply because they just never did back it up and that can be a very frustrating thing to witness in the process where you end up losing access easily to it and the only way to get that back is the full control access which you do not have.

Back up is highly important and should never be joked with. People are in rush of finding easy opportunities for earning bitcoins and forgetting to protect themselves due to those rush up. We always must remember that only slow and steady alone will win the race.

Well I think back up is good idea. But also make sure you log out or sign out wallet securely so that if your phone is lost then your cryptos will not be stolen. I think use wallets that can only be opened with your pins. Do not list your pins on your phone itself. If you will list them, make sure no one knows cryptocurrencies. So when you log out to your wallet and lost your phone, you can open it in other pones or computer.

NO, NO need to extra phone. You can backup your pin, address, password in many ways.

01. You can print a hard copy of your all documents and can store.
02. you an use pendrive for store your documents.
03. You can store your documents in gmail drive and make strong password for gmail.
04. You also can save your documents in different drives of your computer and can make strong password for pc.

In this way you can can save your documents. But if you only use cellphone, the best way is you may save your documents in google drive.

You can also backup the the data on your phone either on a hard drive or in the cloud. I think this is critical if you have everything on your smartphone.

You will need to be able to recover everything in the event that you lose your phone or drop it in water, etc.

You really don’t need to buy a backup phone as long as you backup the data on the phone that you use everyday.

You should set up the recovery option in your google account. As the 2FA is provided by the Google Authenticator services, you can always keep the backup codes stored over there. This way you can always secure your services and access them by using these universal codes for temporary unlocking. You can ask google to change the devices if you bought new one and I am pretty sure they will make it happen in instant time possible. Thats why there services are best one in the world. They always consider all the possibilities of services that they are providing, so your wont be different and should be resolved.

Encrypting any backup to the network is a good security practice. It's highly-recommended to store file in a safe place and a backup of your wallet can protect you against computer failures or software malfunction. Having a backup can have the chance to retrieve pertinent files and information.

I don’t know what kind gf backup you’re really getting at, but if you mean backing up our wallets, that’s important if you’re making use of wallets that doesn’t require sign-up.

You will have to back up your wallet and keep those 12 words safe, in case you lose your phone or whatever it is you’re using, you will be able to restore your funds back when you get a new device. As for wallets like Xapo and Coinbase, there is nothing like backup once you sign in you will see your funds right there in your wallet ready for you to use it.

Actually I also want to make as many backups as possible, because for me Wallet backup can be said to be the most important part of the security of digital assets that we have today, the most important thing to have a clean hard drive to back up and store it in a safe place is the best and it's true that we should have 2fa to have another layer of security so we will not get high risks and we will not get most likely hacked with the 2fa.

I think we share the sane level of fear here. I know why I do not like the Google authenticator thing is because of stories about how users can not get access to sites or their funds once the device to which that authenticator is tied to is lost. I like sites that give option of SMS and emails and most websites are beginning to have this options too.
All we need is to survive in the market of Bitcoin regardless of the value these days if you are an investor and have invested in the market then just wait for the price to jump and in a high market your investment will payoff. As we have observed many times in the past, the Bitcoin value recovered many times. Similarly the market will improve in the upcoming days.

I use authy as well and can recommend it. I have lost my phone before and was able to restore it without a problem. If I hadn't used authy and just continued to use 2fa with Google Authenticator I would have been stuffed. It was worth the time it took to setup.

Also during most 2fa setup you get the opportunity to write down the secret key to bypass the 2fa, if for whatever reason you can't access your 2fa app. This is worth storing somewhere offline on a piece of paper, it may help you get out of trouble as well.

It is very important to me because it becomes our wallet keeper from an irresponsible crime crime. If better the phone is more than 2 its security in order to wake up and safe from irresponsible people. More back to each of them if do not want to later regret finally ;)

If you have forgotten the information you just traded and do not have the backup feature, it is difficult for you to lose the data you need to know about important backups.
When you don’t know or you don’t just remember what you have done at one time and what was the move at other time and that and this, then how can you be able to make good results decisions? And later on these dictions would be emphasizing best of your results. Think over it. You are not supposed to take anything easy here. Make your moves wisely and according to plan.
I think there must be a backup for our data because if all of our data is lost, then we are nothing but destroyed completely. We shouldn't trust our gadgets or documents that they will keep our data forever, there must be a second option with us because we can lose it anytime. I think one should save his data in multiple devices or he must have a backup system.

That is wonderful step you just taken and see how good it responded you back. These are some of local skills that must be learn before getting into the practical world. Because sometimes you are considering a thing worthless but in reality it counts for big value. And backing up was one of the good action you just did back in time. Hope you get success in trading. Good luck.

Yes we should have backups to double secure our assets storage, then in case of losing our passwords or other factors that might cause of losing, we have backups to open our accounts.

back up is important because you can rely on it when you needed it the most like in your phone or in comp. you can back up data files etc. so if it accidentally delete you can rely on your back up or sometimes we can use back up in our daily life in our job in studying .for example when your car have flat tire there are always have a reserve tire in case of something happen you have always a back up.

The only possible step is to back up your data with the online system, because even if your phone is lost, it can be resolved.

I believe in addition to the 2fa codes stored in phones via the barcodes, you also have the passkey/code. If you misplaced your phone, you can have access to your account again via the security key code.

Back ups are good. They prevent permanent loss of data and information. Getting an external hard drive or pen drive to back up your data and information is a very good choice.

It's a good idea to keep a hard copy of the secret codes. Another good idea is to take a photo of the QR code before scanning it for 2fa and Keep it somewhere safe, on an encrypted drive. If you have a safe, just store these in it.

thankfully, i am sorry to have recovered. Congratulations. i have continually been concerned about dropping my cell phone. Then I watched 2fa. I attempted authy, however it failed to recognize it. i was dissatisfied. i was also looking for a better manner to make certain protection.

I believe further to the 2fa codes stored in telephones via the barcodes, you furthermore mght have the passkey/code. in case you misplaced your smartphone, you could have get entry to for your account again via the safety key code.

Back up is essentially important these days,
with all that data and information we obtain from the
net and the stuff people generate, there's always that risk and
the untimely incidents of hacks, loses and crashes. If your not into back
up or haven't considered in doing so, you will regret it when the time comes.
There's an overload of data everywhere yet people aren't reluctant enough to keep
them safely due to the fact that it's obtainable anytime and anywhere. It' a wrong mindset.

there are still many people who underestimate the importance of backups ranging from files, crypto wallet data to 2FA on google authentificator and this is very fatal when your cellphone is damaged or lost. then you will experience many problems there. do backup from now on because it's important

I usually use a laptop to back up all important things, such as private keys, phone numbers, account passwords, and more. I think this is a responsibility for our private property!

Backing up this data is arguably a very important activity that is often forgotten by many people. The color of the data can be lost at any time. Computer data, data hosting, or cell phone contact data can be lost at any time without you ever expected. Computer data can be lost because the computer hard drive is damaged, data hosting can be lost if the hosting has a problem or has a virus.

You need to protect your business data. Data backup and data recovery are important parts of running a business. Business owners realize three things quickly: all computer systems crash; all humans error; and disasters happen when least expected or are least prepared for them.

I think backup is the keys if you actually want to secure your cryptocurrencies holding.  I have decided to write my private keys down on the paper wallets.  And not to used centralized exchanges except in for exchange purpose.  Having another phone is also very important as I also thought of this before and you are bringing up.

may just use a titanium backup app or helium backup app then copy the backup files to some secure location.

Agreed, I have an extra phone for gmail authenticator backup, also make sure to secure a pin code, you can use a paper or something and store in properly.

Yes I'd like your idea back up phone is so important. Just in case our phone suddenly broke, damage, lost or stolen we always have a back up one. Specially those important things we need to secure like passwords, accounts and code that is necessary to be secure and backed up in other phone.

You should secure it, You can use 2fa directly on 2 phones if you scan the code at the same time with two utilities.
