Ethereum is still at its best, dominating the dapp market in 2018. It gains the highest active number of dapp users among others. Not just that, it’s leading the market also in terms of wallet holders and total number of dapps.

But despite of the stable growth, Ethereum may find 2019 a tough year to begin with. Aside from the less transaction it has compared to the others, its dapp users needs to maintain an ETH for the gass fee every transaction. This greatly affects the dapp users experience and full mass adoption of Ethereum Dapps.

This is something an Ethereum dapp must consider and/or think about this year.

The statistics is indeed correct, and still Ethereum is the leading smartcontract provider, for me Eth gas requirements for using the D'apps is not a problem as long as the application was satisfies my needs i dont care if im using Ethers for gas if needed.

Ethereum needs to solve its main problem this is a problem of scalability and only then the price will start to grow

But one solution which is the constantinople upgrade was delayed and will be pursued after a month. I guess this is really a tough start not just for ethereum but for the whole market. This month is about to end but I'm still positive that something will explode which will make the market healthier again.

True. Eth’s run is really unpredictable despite of its unquestionable popularity and true usage as a great smart contract which is so widely used by most of tokens today. I really hope this year will Ethereum be still belong to top 10 in CMC we do not know.

Until now ethereum is still in an unstable condition, it cannot be predicted for the future, but I am sure that as time passes ethereum will occupy its position again, there are still many supporters for this coin and I believe that ethereum will remain the best altcoin

The toughest challenge for Ethereum was in the past already ,that's the year 2018 ,this year 2019 will get better and about using ether as gas fee for dapps is fine by me I'm sure this year will bring new improvement for Ethereum

i think not only for ethereum will it be a difficult year, but for the whole crypto coins. many people have lost faith in crypto after 2018, so 2019 will be a challenging year for the whole crypto sector.

It cannot be predicted for ethereum in the future because until now there has not been a signi fi cant increase, but I am sure slowly ethereum will rise again all need an instant process and I also believe ethereum for the future will last long

Agree, now Ethereum has competition. Many other platforms provide fee-less transactions and in more quantity, Ethereum needs to step it's game up or will be abolished.

Don't only talk about ETH, every coin now is not stepping up and I believe as long as everything is down, ETH will never be replace.
The market is quite bad and indeed its a great challenge for this year, we don't know what will come but being optimistic is our only strategy right now.

I do not think that this year will be difficult for ethereum. The year 2018 was very difficult for this coin. Now, especially if the expected improvements are successfully launched on February 27, then everything should get better in it. For the time being, the activity of the ICO will remain a big problem for ethereum, but it will soon be regulated by the states. Many are already developing relevant regulations on the regulation of ICO activities.

You have a good point but truth is almost all the market is going to face a tough season. Most projects will be dead if no bullrun in mid 2019. Lots of projects already dead. So, it's not only Ethereum for a single reason.

I totally agree with you that 2019 is probably an extremely good year to invest Ethereum at a good price this year. This is necessary to go one step further in the crypto market, because the previous upheaval I lost was almost complete and I need this time to recover  ;D ::)

ETH already gained a lots of supports ever since, the challenge was already been accepted by the team behind and as expected most of the coins wanted to be more useful than this coin but those businesses and people who already started using ETH since then will not easily be move and change to a new service, same alike with developers who's still using the platform for their new projects, the challenge will be for the end users as after the fork we will see if improvements will bring more to this project.

In any case, this year should be much better for ethereum than the past 2018. This year we should already get out of the problems that were in the previous one. First of all, at the end of February ethereum should be updated, improve its scalability, which should already have a positive impact on the restoration of its popularity. Also something must happen with ICO. Either they should start to be regulated already, or we should switch to STO.

I also think so, but time has not allowed Ethereum to be any longer, I hope it can come back quickly to replace it with being a better and brighter new currency than Bitcoin, if it comes back right away this  ;D

Of course, the heavy and its former glory is beginning to fade, coins with rapid development and innovations come to the fore. Even fork probably will not help to return the top line of the list.

This is just the beginning of the year and I think there is no much challenge for ethereum than other cryptocurrencies!  After the hardfork we should expect ethereum to moon.  I strongly believe that this year will favour ethereum than any other coins.

Ethereum has be struggling for over a year now and they only way it can improve is to actually do what they have been promising, the Scalability issue is one of the biggest issues Ethereum have and the Proof of Work , pow hasn't been working for a while now and Proof of Stake is the way to heal Ethereum , Miners also getting declining rewards is part of the problem Ethereum have, once there is a way to eliminate all this then Ethereum could really rise in 2019

I think that we should not worry about this because it's just a matter of time, I read that the development team has set many goals for 2019 and the issue of scaling them in the first place. I can't find that article but it says that in the near future Ethereum will be able to overtake EOS in transactions and I also believe that the development team will be able to implement it in reality !

First things first, Ethereum need to have a successful HARD FORK which is now on hold and take place on late February this year.
Secondly, they should make a move that this FORK will pump the market after unlike what happened to BCH.

A matter of fact ,Ethereum is not stable presently but I guess its because of the market condition and I even expected that the Constantinople fork cancellation would affect the price but I was wrong ,I think Ethereum has a better future ahead in the coming months and if the fork became active later on then it will make it find a stronger feet once again

That's how ethereum should be during this year. Even with it's dominance in the market, we can't still see it's price spike high due to high transaction gass. Maybe the devs should find a way to counter this issue for the convenience of it's users.

I think there's a point. The emergence of new blockchain infrastructure such as TRON, ADA, etc. Signifying disappointment over the ethereum condition which until now is still stagnant. At the same time they become competitors for ethereum to innovate or lose.

In addition to that, though Ethereum is known for its best early dapp (https://Dapp.com) developers of idle games such as Ether Goo and Farm Games since before, unfortunately, many of its dapp (https://Dapp.com) developers are moving now to TRON, its rival blockchain. This is quitely alarming for Ethereum in its plan to expand it's network on the dapp field. Hiring a new dapp developer team might be a good option but this won't guarantee it's stability in the market. The big challenge is that how would they able to surpass this scarcity? Would 2019 still be a good year for Ethereum?

actually Ethereum is at its worse and every day that passes the situation becomes more dire. the blockchain is bloated, the scaling is impossible, the centralization of it happened a lot time ago, it has no immutability and worst of all it is pump and dump.

It has lost its charm to the point where ripple has beaten it. But it has a challenge to make progress and assert itself as one of the best coins in the market. Yeah, that is from cryptopia. Cryptopia has hacked and ethereum was dumped from the hackers and followed with other tokens too.

I already using neo to move money between exchanges. This is much faster and almost free. Most of the new ICO will be on the other platforms. So they are very late with their upgrades. I changed my mind about eth and don waiting it higher than 300-400 usd. People have too much of eth in their hands and quantity of eth is constantly growing.

I think 2019 will be the best year for ethereum aside from the all time peak. I mean lets take a look at ethereum before all of this started, last year (more like 2 years ago) ethereum didn't worth anything, it was like 9 dollars at one point, nobody really cared about ethereum and it was just another coin for people.

After a while they decided that doing a new coin is best when you do it with ICO over ethereum blockchain which created an interest for ethereum, that increased the price by a lot, many people spent a lot of money on ICOs which means billions of dollars bought and sold on ethereum, then there was other utilities like products and softwares and games and what not which increased interest for it as well.

I do agree 2019 will be very difficult year for 2019 because time is not on the side of Ethereum developers to deliver on their sweet promises. This would be a very hard year for Ethereum but with all the updates that the team has announced it should be one of the most efficient years in Ethereums history. With its hardfork and hopefully ready Ethereum 2.0 update, it will fly.

yes I think so too, it looks like ethereum must think harder in 2019 to be able to maintain its stability in the market. I don't think it's too difficult to do that because ethereum is one of the biggest altcoins with large volumes and clear concepts.

I agree that Ethereum is facing a very challenging year in 2019 especially with the postponement of the Constantinopole hard fork. What might investors think of ethereum if they can't resolve the issue of upgrades. They already have the roadmap but hasn't been launched on time. If they can resolve these and followed the roadmap, there would be no problem with Ethereum.

The ETH faces its challenging market since 2018. Now, the price of ETH is still not sure, it doesn't reach $200. Well, actually I really feel sad of the progress of ETH o the market. ETH deserves more than 400$ but i also blame current market conditions for this negative aura.  Increase in price with increasing volumes will help this developing coin to achieve more higher results along with desirable version of chain.

2018 was a challenging year for the entire crypto market, not just ethereum. How 2019 turns out for Ethereum will depend more upon market conditions than technical factors.

Last time I saw the price of Ethereum, its on 800 dollars, but now, it reached down to a hundred dollar, I don't know if it was normal because I just joined the crypto late I can say.

Yes, this is right really 2019 is challenging year of ethereum. Its totally depends on the condition of market. But at that time ethereum is in very strong position and comes second in position after bitcoin.

 According to the forecasts of the founder, Vitalik Butorin, it is planned to change the Protocol,which will provide a threefold increase in bandwidth, increase the speed of payment transactions, and in consequence, the rise in price of Erhereum. It seems like it but in time i'm sure that Ethereum will ascend and evolve to a more effective product. The upcoming major upgrades to ETH Network will certainly improve the whole system making it more powerful. It really is a big and challenging year for Ethereum, one of the biggest challenges is getting back the second position, and making the ICO safe for  investors because they are using Ethereum smart contract for their ICO, and of course, helping the market to get back again.

Making the ico safer is not a responsibility of etherium anymore . eth is only a platform for a creation of erc20 based tokens  but i agree that one of the biggest challenge of eth is to get back on his spot .


Lol how can you say ?  Arent you aware that eth will be undergoing onto a new fork ?  That event can probably help to increase the price of eth and maybe it cause a new ath   .   though even if no fork will occur , eth wont still drop to zero because people will always have a reason to buy it  . 

It was an anticipated update and in fact it has temporarily affected the price of ETH and it goes up, but the planned launch was postpone and the team are very transparent with that, so I believe the postponement is not a big deal.

Ethereum was too strong on end of 2017, the price went crazy to $1.4k but then sad things happened and the price went down under the $100 lines and braked all of us. And yes, this should be challenging year for the Ethereum because its price already lost too much and the ETH lost the second place to Ripple in coinmarketcap. It has to be get up and it should happen fast.

I don't think so that the team of eth didn't have their improvement platform become optimized, only that market really have struggles that's why we see such problems of cheap price. Well at the end of 2018 all coins were falling and not only Ethereum, I think this year will be very negative for all coins, but so far I see some positive news in Ethereum!

Don't forget bitcoih get same condition too, went crazy and then slowly down again and for me as long it not reach price that when they first launched in market, i still think that it is ok because ETH still have good things in future.

Some of these issues are going to be solved by the upcoming Constantinople upgrade in February which will lower block rewards and gas fees and also make the platform easier to develop for along with other important features, and provided it all goes smoothly there shouldn't be any negative effects on either value derived from or future adoption of apps on the network

Looking at the price of ethereum today, it does makes many people sad, cause compared to 2017 the current price is so much low.

I think you are right mate. It is not only Ethereum that is affected by the downtrend or tough season because all are affected right after Bitcoin's price started to fall. All coins, tokens will also fall like a domino effect. Ethereum is great and has strong community, developers, users and adoption. Here in my country, we can even convert our local fiat currency into Ethereum and vice versa. Ethereum will remain the best Altcoin for me.

I really agree with what you say. This is really a very difficult situation for all crypto currencies and most projects that have failed a lot. All are very influential with the price of Bitcoin. What you said about the d'Apps is very true, this is why many d'Apps on the Ethereum blockchain are migrating to the EOS Blockchain, one of them is EOSbet, it is quite sad to see this happen especially for die hard Ethereum lovers but it's inevitable if things continues this way.

I agree that Ethereum last year was not strong enough and if you look at the ratio of Ethereum to Bitcoin, it stopped growing for a long time, even in 2017.

To tell the truth, this year will be a very challenging year for Ethereum especially, but if we are looking at the market chart, many other coins are also fighting for this challenging. I could not figure out where do you see stable growth for ETH.
It has lost from it`s market share a lot. In January 2018 the price of ETH was 10% of BTC price and today is 3.3%.
ETH is struggling for more than a year, but 2019 should be the year for new upgrades and recovery for Ethereum.

The latest drop in the Ethereum exchange rate caused by the postponement of the update is possible. Many ETH holders expect positive results from the team this year. It should affect the cost.

I think ethereum has lost much trust from people. I don't know why, but we can know from the price and the idea of hardfork. Last year waspada rough enough for ethereum and this year, Ethereum should think how to recover and gain back trust from people.

You are very right. The gas fees may be quite a setback in the dApp application for ETH. My real concern is that not many users will be willing to pay the high gas fees(depending on network condition) for the transactions  on dApp.

indeed most people find it difficult to trust Ethereum because of their low value so they might lose or anything that makes them afraid to start again.

The bear market has really affected 99% of all cryptos so I think it is a general thing than specifying it to only that of ether.
