since there is no discussion thread about the polish league or polish football here yet, i decided to open one for yourself today

there are indeed very interesting players in polish football who made it to the strongest european leagues a few years ago. like Milik, Szczesny, Lewandowski, Piatek, ... just to name a few ... and i think that there will be interesting talents from the polish ekstraklasa in europe in the near future
but also in the past (in the 70s and early 80s) there were very strong players, the most famous are probably Grzegorz Lato and Zbigniew Boniek or Jerzy Dudek

well, now we want to get back to the present. during the difficult covid-19 time, the very euphoric polish fans will be missing in the polish stadiums as well - the first matchday will start on 21-08 with the match zaglembie lubin vs. lech poznan. the defending champion and polish champion legia warsaw will play away at rakow czestochowa and is also this season a big favourite for the polish championship

I have been in football betting scheme for a very long time to the extent that i choose the country with the best playing option that result to winning tickets. I found out that Polish football clubs are the most dangerous and not easy side to predict, all the Ekstraklata clubs are good and perfect at home ground and having a similar odds for even with relegated team. Its a hard side for prediction as results turns out different as not expected.
Polish football clubs especially the giant Legia Warszawa finds it difficult to compete with others at the UEFA Europa level, and haven't seen them reaching quarter final in the Europe league or rather climbing to round 16 in the UEFA champions league, what could be the cause of this, isn't the league good enough?

indeed. the polish clubs and also legia warsaw are too weak for the european competitions. most of the time it is already over in the qualification rounds... :-\

both clubs start immediately and should be in the upper third this season.

This is one of the worst leagues in terms of predictions and information in general regarding teams,at least this has been the case for me so I think this is a needed topic.I am waiting for information during the weekends which we will have games from this Championship from people who know their stuff and have had good results betting here.One thing is sure, the lower odds will make a lot of people suffer here as I have lost so many 1.40-1.55 odds here no matter that they were playing in their home field.

In recent months, Polish Ekstraklasa is one of rare leagues where you can enjoy real football atmosphere because fans are allowed to attend stadium. If I'm not mistaken, they can fill up to 30% of stadium capacity.
I watched Rakov - Legia game last weekend and Rakow gave good fight despite red card in first half. Legia managed to win only in last minutes.
But I can't understand one thing. Polish clubs get big money from TV contract, they have great stadiums and fans, and in general,I think level of tjis league isn't bad. But their clubs almost never qualify to Champions and Europa league.

the football atmosphere by the polish fans is sometimes fabulous but the performance and the level to survive in the european competitions is very bad and that is very sad in my eyes.
maybe some more clubs will make it to the qualification rounds this year and play in the european league

Today Legia surprisingly lost to Jagiellonia 1:2. Current Champions dominated the game, but it wasn't enough - Jagiellonia had just 2 shots on target and ended with 2 goals. It was bad week for Legia. First they unexpected got eliminated from Champions league and now loss in Ekstraklasa.

@TedMosby, I don't follow Ekstraklasa so much to know this player. But fact that he played only few games in recent 2 seasons doesn't looks good. If he want to play on regular basis, probably he should move to weaker league.

It was a big transfer for the marketing reasons you write about. I read that this boy has a lot of talent, but so far he hasn't had much chance to show it. In my opinion, the Polish league is not a good place for him. In "Ekstraklasa"(Polish fisrt league) you play very physically, and Egy has modest physical conditions. For this reason, even in the Lechia reserve team he is in trouble. It will be very difficult for him to get into the first squad. However, he is only 20 years old, so his entire career is ahead. I think that the problem is the fact that there is not much competition in the league.
Thus, teams do not make big transfers and legia do not need to spend a lot in order to get the polish title.

I think it's good deal for both sides. Cernych didn't found himself in Russia, so after difficult period Jaga is best place for him now. Offcourse, I would like to see him playing in stronger league, but he didn't had better offers after few bad seasons.

I think the bookmakers are trying to “cheat” on us today in the main event which is Legia vs Gornik and the odd of Legia is 1.5 which is low.I know Legia has a better name but how it can have an odd of 1.5 against a team which is leading the way and has yet to concede a goal while has scored 7 goals.I think it is a tricky one tonight,going for Double Chance on Gornik.

Well, it was a good observation and I hope that you managed to place a bet for Gornik.
I saw in the booker that I am betting the odds for Gornik's win were at @6,50 and I felt so sad that I didn't notice.
The match ended very fast as Gornik scored at 4' and 17' so Legia was behind too goals very early while Gornik had only to defend this score.

It was very good play, probably the best in the whole season. Rakow was leading 2-0 but Lech took the lead, but again in last minutes Lech conceded a goal and finally as you showed above match end up 3-3.

Lech Poznan finally won a game, not losing a goal in last minutes  (what seems to be their curse!)
Wonder if they will come back on good tracks in league, as sole polish team playing in European cups.
Raków is big positive surprise of this Extraclass season, do you think they can keep their good shape to the end of season?

Its hard to tell if Raków is going to maintain the league title because polish league Ekstraklasa is a highly competitive league where all the clubs are of average competitive level. Secondly, the total number if matches played so far is 11 which actually will not guaranteed Raków of winning the league champion. Legia Warszawa may overtake them in due time as they are mostly the league previous champion.

I am relatively unfamiliar with the Polish competition, but can anyone explain why this competition was chosen?

There are several competitions worldwide that are stronger and that are not mentioned.

By the way, we are sorry that all really good Polish star players play abroad, but that cannot be otherwise with those salaries.

because the polish ekstraklasa also produces very good players, who then play for big clubs in europe. the latest example is/will be Moder from lech poznan.
this is a very big talent, which is predicted to have a very big future
and besides that this is a league with very euphoric fans ;D 8)

Yeah, you never know when league turn to be successfull and reach european level. Maybe someday polish league will be in top? Secondly you can bet for Polish League in quite many bookmachers. Third, as cygan said there are many talented players in polish League

It is a pity that all good Polish players no longer play in the league in Poland. Salaries are also significantly lower. The Polish national team has a pretty strong team.
Lewandovski is of course world class. You never really see Polish clubs in the Champions League, unfortunately.

as i wrote a few posts above, the polish ekstraklasa is a league where very talented players come out and prove themselves in other european leagues. some players succeed and become top and world class status and other players do not.
this is one of the reasons why polish clubs are very rarely represented in european competitions. and if they are, they have almost no chance against the stronger teams.

There are still many good talented players in Polish league, try to watch Lech Poznan's match and players such as Moder or Kaminski, and there is many foreigners who play good football.

Lech Poznan lost to Pogon Szczecin 0:4 2 days ago. It is very big shame  for them and for polish  football as their performane is so weak. And as no team in polish league can keep good form within whole season :/

There was many cases in the past that teams, which was performing very well in autumn round played very weak in spring.
It depends very much  what changes will be in teams, who will make good transfers, who will have good place to train etc

A lot has changed since the beginning of the Ekstraklasa but unfortunately those who dominate the Ekstraklasa are back on top and they started not in the best of the ways.This shows that this league needs further improvement in the sense that it needs more teams who can keep up with Legia Warsawa.I think that Legia will end up winning the title again although anything can happen in the remaining 16 games of the tournament.

There is a very nice competition between the top three teams in the table for the championship now. Legia have had a nice form lately which they won three games and lost only one in their last four games. Pogon weren't good in their last three games that they lost 2 of them and got a draw in one of them. However, Rakow pulled themselves together and won their last two games after a 3-game losing streak. Legia became the champions 6 times in the last 8 seasons and they are going for the 7th one. I wonder if a different team will prevent them from doing it this season.

Legia Warsaw almost always dominate in this league and sometimes they do well even in International competitions like the Champions and Europa League.Having said that it looks like there is no real competition in this league as all other teams can't keep up with Legia Warsaw.

My congratulations to Legia on the title. In the Polsha championship they dominate very impressively, I would like their results in the Euro arena to also reach a new level.

it's actually a shame that legia warsaw does very poorly in international games :P
this is also the big difference between the polish league and the other european leagues. legia is too strong for the ekstraklasa but for the cl it is usually not enough (everything is already over in the qualifying rounds) and in the el they do not get beyond the group stage... :-\

Yeah, Legia and all Polish teams in general aren't doing well in Europe. I'm wondering where is the problem because I don't think that Ekstraklasa is such weak league. In recent years they were eliminated by Astana, Sheriff, Dudelange, Omonia or Qarabag - all these teams comes from weaker leagues IMO. But in the end, Ekstraklasa is just 30th in UEFA league ranking - even Belarus, Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan is above.
Well, maybe Ekstraklasa clubs will do better in new Europa Conference League. Though, I can say that I don't like idea of this new tournament.
BTW, thanks @cygan for covering Ekstraklasa throughout the season. Maybe I haven't saw that many games this season, but it was interesting to follow this league.

today it was finally time... in friday's match of gornik zabrze vs. lech posen, Lukas Podolski celebrated his premiere in the polish ekstraklasa.
he was substituted at the score of 1-1 in the 46th minute of the match ... at the moment lech is leading 2-1 with just ~20 minutes left to play
on the first game of the day lubin defeated the promoted club from leczna with 3-1

I am interested in the careers of some players.
It was interesting to hear about the transfer of the Ukrainian striker Igor Kharatin to Legia (Warsaw). I think he was the initiator of this case.

on matchday 7, polish champion legia warsaw lost 0-1 at slask wroclaw. the ukrainian player you mentioned finist4x, Igor Kharatin, was substituted in the 67th minute of the game.
legia is now on the 16th place in the table but has 2 games less - if they win these games legia would climb up to the third place in the table.

This season Legia have dropped a lot of points and of course this is a big loss for them, last season out of 30 games running, Legia only suffered 4 defeats and they had the most goal difference last season compared to any other team which was 24, but it looks like the performance last season was not seen this season and even in 5 matches they lost 3 times and to be honest, even if they still have two games left, of course it will be very difficult for Legia to defend their title this season if indeed their performances can't be as consistent as last season then.
Legia next match is against Spartak Moscow this week in the Europa League continuation.

This is just the beginning of the season and Legia still has a lot of time to catch up and defend the championship. I believe that this team can afford it. The most difficult task seems to be the mental attitude of the players. The team must be aware that the matches in Mielec or Nieciecza are just as important for the club as the matches in Moscow or Naples. This is a difficult task for the coaching staff. Lech Poznań seems to be the toughest rival of Legia this season. Lech will host Wisła Kraków today, which is doing quite well and is playing nice, offensive football. It can be a very interesting meeting.

I haven't taken keen interest in leagues like this one  :P but looking at the OP I see log and other headings like matches played,  goals scored etc having zeros, does this mean that this is when this league started for the year 2021/2022 in Poland?

the polish ekstraklasa has existed since 1927, in which some great top players came out. there is also a polish cup tournament every season - this tournament has been played regularly since the season 1950/51

Just like Lewandowski who started play for Partyzant Leszno and made his international debut in Borussia Dortmund to become one of the best players in the world,  I'm hoping to see super talented young players like Xavier Dziekoński who plays for Jagiellonia Białystok and Mateusz Praszelik who plays for Śląsk Wrocław follow in his steps. These young players both have huge potentials to be the best.

on the 9th matchday there was the top match between the current champion legia and the vice-champion rakow, which the guest from czestochowa could decide with 3-2 for itself and which legia has added another defeat still in the young season. altogether on this matchday 28 goals were scored

yesterday, the catch-up match from the 4th matchday took place.
rakow czestochowa could not get beyond a 2-2 against radomiak radom and has lost in my opinion 2 important points to keep up with the top of the table yesterday
rakow now ranks 5th and radomiak 9th in the table

on the 10th matchday legia warsaw had to accept the next defeat and lost the away match at lechia gdansk with 1-3. the 3 other clubs that are on top could win all their matches very clearly. on top of the table it remains really very exciting and legia can actually already say goodbye to the title fight...

@cygan, how you can explain what's going on with Legia? In Europa League they're looking very solid, just last wek they beat Leicester and now leading group with 6 points. But in Ekstraklasa they're almost in relegation zone with maybe best squad in the league. It just doesn't makes sense. It's not that case when team giving priority to UEFA tournament and resting key players in domestic league.

because these are 2 different "leagues" and competitions, the whole thing most likely has to do with the concetration. you also see that often with other clubs that they perform badly in the league and better in the cup competition.
i can't explain the current situation any other way...

Today a classic of the Polish league, Legia Warsaw - Lech Poznań. I am very curious about this match. Lech is in great shape and seems to be the main candidate for the championship at the moment. If Lech wins today, they will be 15 points ahead of Legia. Legia plays very mediocre in the league so far, but in the cups they show that they can really play football well. So it all depends on their mental approach to the match. I am counting on a good show today and no result will surprise me.

Lech won game 0:1. Didn't watched whole game, but it seems that Lech were a bit better and had more moments to score. At this stage I think it's not worth to talk about Legia chances to take title, but at the same time I don't beleive that they can relegate. Legia can forget about fight for title, even finish in UEFA spots looks very diffcult now.

it is very incomprehensible why legia is having such a hard time in the league this season... the players already know a 2-times load from previous seasons. so it can't really be because of that...
and lech poznan reacts like a top team at the moment and is a very big candidate for this years polish championship

I watched the game and Lech deservedly won. Lech was the better team throughout the game. The victory could have been higher, as Lech did not score a penalty at the very end of the match. As always, they played great defense. Legia fired only one shot on goal throughout the match. In the last four matches, Lech allowed his opponents a total of only four shots on goal. Amazing statistics. As for Legia, I am sure that they will join the fight for the top positions in the league. They do not really have a chance to defend the championship, but they will fight for promotion to the cups.

the 11th matchday ended yesterday with two games. the last 3 clubs are already almost eliminated and have to be careful not to lose touch with the saving 15th place.
a lot has already been said and written about legia warsaw - it may well be that the coach will not survive the winter in warsaw...
if raków wins its game of catch-up then they would actually be equal on points with lech poznan. in any case it remains exciting at the top and that even without legia ;D

last night in their home match lech poznan could confirm and consolidate their lead in the table with a clear 4-1 against wisla plock.
in the other friday match radomiak won 3-1 against gornik leczna.
lech played a very good 2 half and will play until the end of the season for the championship :)

It seems that there is no doubt that Lech Poznan has good capital to be consistent this season. But indeed, Wisla Plock is not a tough opponent for Lech Poznan and a big win like that should have been obtained but unfortunately, Lech Poznan did not get clean sheets which I think would be better for the competition in the standings. So far Lech Poznan is leading in terms of scoring goals and also the number of goals conceded is low, with this good record I personally believe Lech Poznan will be able to maintain this good form until the end and get UCL tickets next season.

wisla plock may not have been a good opponent but even against these teams you have to play and win first - the best example is legia warsaw... and that lech can also win against the good clubs, they have shown last weekend in the away game at legia ;)
i also hope that this season finally another club will win the championship and not legia again ... my favorites would be lech and rakow

Damn, Legia... It's quite difficult to imagine such thing, but if they won't improve soon, they will relegate from Ekstraklasa. And seems that change of manager didn't gave any positive effect. After international break they will meet Gornik - it's opponent they must beat.

It was a victory for the Green, would the cups in Radom next season be possible? I honestly think that the decision of coach Banasik some time ago to put up a slightly reserve squad with Gornik in the cup now gives a strong advantage because the team focuses entirely on the league. Radomiak has some interesting players and plays really mature football. Against the background of the weak Wisla, Radomiak looked really good. Do they have a chance for the cups? Much depends on the winter transfer period. If they manage to keep the best players and replenish their squad, they can fight for the top places in the league. Personally, however, I believe that they will finish the season in no more than 5-6 place.

I don't fully understand the football atmosphere in the Polish league, but it looks like Radomiak Radom is a weak team capable of being at the top of the table. They will face Piast Gliwice in their next match, maybe they will surprise one more time. But I don't think so when they compete against Lech Poznan and Legia ::)

Legia is not a good indicator at the current time. They are at the very bottom of the table. Currently, they have lost 7 matches in a row. They had the last such series in 1936. Then, for the only time in history, they were relegated from the Polish 1st league. This season, Radomiak won at home with Legia 3-1 and was a much better team.

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that something similar happened just now. Legia fans is one of most aggresive in Poland and they had a lot of patience with team performance.

Yes, everything indicates that it will happen from the new season. Certainly Papszun is one of the main authors of Raków's success. It's a pity that all good Polish players don't play in this league anymore. Then you would have had a gangabe competition. Poland is a rich football country, it is striking that the teams perform so little. If you compare it to the Czech Republic, they are still ahead, while in terms of culture and structure they are about the same. Yeah, it's still strange to see Legia so low, but I don't believe that they're going to relegate. They got dropped out Europa league, so, now they will be able to focus playing in Ekstraklasa. And maybe make change in squad during transfer window.

I don't see big difference between Poland and Czech Republic, they're on similar level. Ekstraklasa have 9 times bigger TV contract than Czech league, they're not worse in terms of infrastructure, bookmakers probably gives similar money in both leagues and level of football is similar in both countries, despite that Czech clubs perform a bit better in Europe.
It's simply impossibe for Polish clubs to keep their best players when they get offers from Germany or Italy. I think it was same thing 10 or 20 years ago.

I'm curious about this match. A possible victory for Legia will surely raise the team's morale and will probably start the march up the table. But it will not be easy for them to win. Zagłębie made really interesting transfers during the winter break, in my opinion one of the best in Ekstraklasa. The question of whether and when new players can be composed into the team.

Legia is leading 2;1 with few minutes remaining. I think second part of season will be better for Legia because they dropped from UEFA competitions and will be able to focus on domestic league only. It's still possible to fight even for spots in Europe for next season.

very interesting how to see them winning fast after that they made a comeback after trailing 1-3.
Even though Lech Poznan did dominate in this match, the determination of the Cracovia players deserves a thumbs up.
The interesting thing here is that the draw received from the leader of the standings will make the competition even tighter and this is quite good because it makes the league competitive.

Legia is playing really good in cup matches this season,they played really good in europe matches and cup matches. But in their domestic league they are still in relegation zone,i dont know how they can play so different in other tournament and in their own league. I look at bookmakers and see the odds of 2.00 for Lechia... do bookmakers take into account the "logic of Ekstraklasa"? Wisła is completely out of shape, this week was eliminated in the cup with three-league Olympia and was the weaker team in this match. The players are mentally shattered. It is a shame to see Wisla Krakow one of the greatest teams of Polish Ekstraklasa suffering to fight to survive relegation.What is worse is that even Legia Warsaw another icon of such football is not that far from that place in term of points just 4 points ahead of such place.Fighting for the title are two outsiders for me at the top 2 places and only in third place is another one of the good teams that have been always fighting for something Lech Poznan.Surely things have changed a lot here,it is quite some time I haven't even check what was going on in the Polish Ekstraklasa.

It was totally a good game between the Cracovia and Wisla. The football league between the two countries Cracovia and Wisla was unique game. Cracovia had their best game and defeated the ever Wisla at the game. Not the other team expected this victory from the Cracovia. The Cracovia had a upper hand from the beginning and score the continue goals and made a good victory over Wisla.

The first time I was at a Wisła Kraków game was when it was still in the second league, almost 30 years ago. Then came great years for Wisła, when the club was bought by Bogusław Cupiał. I had the pleasure to celebrate 8 Polish Championships at the stadium. Amazing moments, I wish them to every football fan. Now, when it seemed that the club was recovering from major financial and organizational problems, unfortunately they were relegated from the league. I have to admit that I have big concerns about the future of the club.

górnik zabrze announced on thursday that Lukas Podolski will continue to play for górnik in the 2022/23 season. the 130-time german international player has extended his contract, which expires at the end of the season, by one year.

I think this year was a different Ekstraklasa after all,seeing Legia Warsaw standing there in the 10th place not playing in any International competition I think is something new.The good news is Lech Poznan is the Champion of this year,they have played hard and since 2015 they will be now again Champions after seven years.Legia has dominated this league in the last years so in this regard this was something different the Ekstraklasa 2021-2022.Let's see how Lech Poznan will do in the Champions League qualifiers but I think they can go far this year,if not in the Champions then surely in the Europa League.

Damn, that's really good monet. 31,5 millin PLN that winner get is €6.8 million. Even last team get close to €1.5 million. Offcourse, it's not EPL level money, but it's really decent amounts for league like Ekstraklasa. I think that other similar level leagues aren't even close to Ekstraklasa by prize money. I think I already said in past, but it's always been mystery for me how Polish clubs having decent money can't even get in group stages of UEFA Cups. Because IMO it's not weaker league than Serbian or Czech fro example.

and not to forget that after this different season wisła kraków has also been relegated after 26 years in the ekstraklasa and will hopefully now make a restart in the 1. liga :P

I know Wisla Krakow was also one of the better teams of the Ekstraklasa but seeing the result of this year for such team it was clear that they would not make it because of the number of loses they had.Most likely they will make it back at least I hope so but as I said I am interested to see how Lech Poznan will do in the International competitions,if they don't sign up any good players during June things may not go that well for them.Every team which is in these leagues which we consider "low quality" compared to the top 5 major European leagues,needs reinforcements in order to do good in the International competitions.

In the new season I believe Lech Poznań will get the title again. Legia Warszawa is the biggest contender but last year they were awful. Honestly I don't have much information about Rakow Czestochowa, how did they go up so fast? They finished the league second two years in a row and they have only four years of experience total after they promoted. They don't have a fancy squad, just ordinary players but they are doing some miracles.

Today Lech Poznań should win the game against Stal Mielec comfortably. 1.60 odds for handicap -1 looks okay to me, you can take that risk. Lech Poznań can score at least two goals at home and finish the game with clean sheet or it may finish 3-1 as it happened last year.

On the other hand, the atmosphere in the team of the Polish champion is nervous. The fans made it clear that they expected effective action from the management board. It's hard to point to favorites in these matches. I am curious about the attitude of Stal Mielec in the match against Legia. It is great seeing again Legia Warsaw performing well and being in the fight for the title after the last poor season and it looks like Lech Poznan the team that represented Poland in the Champions League this year is not doing that well but I know we are early in the league with just 9 games played.

I think though that 9 games are enough to make a clear idea of who is going to really fight for the top spot until the end of the league and based on statistics,goals scored an conceded looks like Wisla Plock is going to be a tough pretender.

the club is 14th in the league table after the 16th round of the 2022/2023 season. with the beginning of september, they started a series of five unbeaten games, which was followed by an october series of five games without a win (including four consecutive defeats without a goal scored).

in yesterday's spectacular match between pogoń szczecin and legia warszawa, there were a total of 7 goals and a red card (legia). in the end, legia won the away match 4-3 and is now the new leader of the ekstraklasa table with 20 points.

yesterday, thursday, there was another catch-up match in the ekstraklasa. this time between the two top clubs lech poznań and raków which the host from poznań could decide with 4-1 for themselves and thus also overtake the polish champion in the table.

at the start of the 10th matchday yesterday there were a total of 10 goals in the two games.

yesterday was the catch-up game from the 4th matchday between lech poznań and jagiellonia. it was a game in which everything was offered. lech led until 54th minute with 3-0 until then jagiellonia struck back and legalized the gap with a converted penalty in the 90+6 minute to 3-3.
by the draw now occupies jagiellonia the first and lech the third place in the table

at the start of the 14th matchday yesterday there was a draw and a home win. the game between piast gliwice and korona kielce ended goalless 0-0 and in the game between jagiellonia and stal mielec the home team clearly won 4-0 and temporarily shot itself into first place. jagiellonia, with now 34 goals scored after 14 games, has the best offense in the ekstraklasa

ruch chorzów has sacked Jaroslaw Skrobacz. the 'blue' trainer lost his job after more than two years at the club. the contract with the trainer was terminated by mutual agreement.

I never knew we have a thread for one of my favorite leagues, that usually give me big odds for over2.5 goals which is a selection I love playing. I know not many people play this league because it is hard to predict but if one settles down and add some factors into consideration, one will be able to get some cool odds from this league.

My favorite teams are Jagiellonia, Legia Warszawa and Lech Poznan but I play them to score 2 goals whenever they play home only because at away, anything can happen. Although, Legia Warszawa have not been doing so well this season, probably due to the European competitions. But they have not failed to give me home over0.5 whenever they are home, so it is that option for me tomorrow as they face Piast Gliwice, an average team that will not be able to stop them. Next weekend have more interesting matches for me.

Despite being Polish, I haven't been following Extraklasa for probably more than a decade now, but decided to take a peek at the table to see what's new.
The first surprise is the absence of Wisła Kraków, which used to be one of the best, biggest and richest clubs in Poland. Not sure whether they got relegated because of poor performance or was it because of some penalty points received etc? I see they're doing OK in the 1 Liga though, so might be back next season.

The second surprise was the Puszcza Niepołomice. How on earth a club from such a small town (of which I haven't heard in my entire life) has managed to get that far? I see they have to get in an agreement with Cracovia to play league games at their stadium to get the licence to play in Extraklasa.
I'm not sure if that's a sign of Extraklasa being on such a low level or was it due to Puszcza Niepołomice being exceptionally good. I wish them all the best though.

due to the matches not won by śląsk wrocław (0-0 at home against puszcza) and raków (1-1 at łks łódz), the club from białystok (with a 2-0 away win at radomiak) was able to pull away from second place with 2 points
the promoted club puszcza thus remains in the race to stay in the ekstraklasa. the other two promoted teams seem to remain in 17th and 18th place.

the points were shared yesterday in the game between cracovia and łks łódz (2-2) and the defeat of the polish champions raków (1-2 at radomiak) means that the club can now say goodbye to the championship fight this season

Still quite a long way to go with 8 games left till the end of the season and with few tough games left to play, including an away match against Legia, which is a 50% favourite (Jagiellonia estimated chances of a win are only 24%).
But if they don't waste that advantage and manage to drive it till the end, this would be the first time Jagiellonia will reach for the title despite the club being over 100 years old (established in 1920).

that would be very desirable on my part.
then, after raków became polish champions for the first time in the club's history last year, we would now have another club with jagiellonia, who would also hold this trophy in their hands for the first time in their club's history :)
