There is a very nice competition between the top three teams in the table for the championship now. Legia have had a nice form lately which they won three games and lost only one in their last four games. Pogon weren't good in their last three games that they lost 2 of them and got a draw in one of them. However, Rakow pulled themselves together and won their last two games after a 3-game losing streak. Legia became the champions 6 times in the last 8 seasons and they are going for the 7th one. I wonder if a different team will prevent them from doing it this season.

legia can now further extend its lead at the top of the table (after the 20th matchday) and is now 7 points ahead of the clubs from szczecin and czestochowa

the 21th matchday is now over. there were no big changes at the top and yesterday's match between the 15th place (bielsko-biala) and the 16th place (stal mielec) won stal mielec 2-1 at home. so this two clubs swapped places...

So glad I ran into this thread as I never had looked into betting on the polish league before and the post about Lewie got me to check into it further because to be honest,

matchday 23 is now almost over (the game stal mielec vs. rakow czestochowa has been postponed) and legia warsaw is well on its way to winning the next championship
legia won the top match at home against pogon szczecin with 4-2 and could now increase the lead to 10 points

Legia Warsaw almost always dominate in this league and sometimes they do well even in International competitions like the Champions and Europa League.Having said that it looks like there is no real competition in this league as all other teams can't keep up with Legia Warsaw.

today the final of the polish cup took place where the 1st league team rakow czestochowa won 2-1 against the 2nd league team arka gdynia and won the cup for the first time in the history of the club - congratz!!

the polish championship is slowly drawing to a close and, as already suspected, the polish champion has already been determined after the 28th matchday. as was to be expected, legia warsaw has now become the champion for the 15th time.
due to the cup win of rakow czestochowa, the 4th place is now also sufficient for the el-qualification.

this is also the big difference between the polish league and the other european leagues. legia is too strong for the ekstraklasa but for the cl it is usually not enough (everything is already over in the qualifying rounds) and in the el they do not get beyond the group stage... Undecided

Yeah, Legia and all Polish teams in general aren't doing well in Europe. I'm wondering where is the problem because I don't think that Ekstraklasa is such weak league. In recent years they were eliminated by Astana, Sheriff, Dudelange, Omonia or Qarabag - all these teams comes from weaker leagues IMO. But in the end, Ekstraklasa is just 30th in UEFA league ranking - even Belarus, Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan is above.
Well, maybe Ekstraklasa clubs will do better in new Europa Conference League. Though, I can say that I don't like idea of this new tournament.
BTW, thanks @cygan for covering Ekstraklasa throughout the season. Maybe I haven't saw that many games this season, but it was interesting to follow this league.

the penultimate matchday (29th) has now also been played and there have been numerous draws. due to the worse goal difference, bielsko-biala will be relegated to the 2nd league (even if bielsko-biala wins and stal mielec loses at the same time). at the top of the table, places 1-3 are already firmly assigned.
now it will be exciting to see who gets the 4th place, which would also be enough for the international games.
