Title: How Much Does Food Cost in Your Country?
Post by: PytagoraZ on November 08, 2023, 12:06:21 PM
I want to know about the cost of living and average income in each country. Can I ask that here?

For comparison, may I ask how much a standard meal in your country costs for one meal? what is the standard food menu? What is the average monthly and annual income in your country? Please those who answer can use calculations in USD

Note: I don't need the tables issued by the government because they are usually different from the reality on the ground

Figuring out the standard cost of living in different countries is way more complicated than just looking at the price of a single meal.  There's a ton of costs that go into it.  Like in some places the food might be pretty cheap but good luck finding an affordable place to live or paying your power bill and  and what counts as one standard meal anyway? Is it ingredients you buy and cook yourself, so you just look at the price of the food but not the time it takes to make it? Or is it what you'd pay for a meal at a restaurant, but even then prices are totally different if it's fast food or some fancy place.  Theres so many things that impact it.  No way you can tell just by a single meal's cost.

Yes, maybe you're right. However, food price standards can often be used as a benchmark for other prices. The price of standard food is of course the price you buy at an ordinary food stall, not at a fancy restaurant. Like in my country, we only need around $1 - $2 to buy a standard meal, the menu provided is usually rice, chicken/meat and vegetables, plus a cold drink such as iced tea or orange juice.

Here are some Turkish figures as of Nov'23, keep in mind that food used to be much cheaper but now some items are even more expensive than their European counterparts because of disastrous economic policies by the government, and specifically corruption in the Agricultural ministry...

Ground Beef (1kg): 13-15 USD (depending on the city)

Sour Dough Whole Wheat Bread (800-900 grams): 1.3 USD

Free Range Egg: 0.2 USD

Tomatoes (kg): 1-1.5 USD (depending on quality)

Chicken Breast (kg): 6-7 USD

Olive Oil (1lt, extra virgin): 8-10 USD

Getting exact information will be kinda difficult because cost of things varies from location to location even in the same country. The things are more expensive in  city based areas than local places and again, what type of meal do you considered standard? Well, in my country, the average income is actually not much (about $30-$35) but likewise, the cost of things are not too expensive. Unfortunately, the recent economic crisis troubling every nation has inflate and skyrocket the cost of things but even with such situations, with $1.5 you can obtain a decent meal of rice, beans, salad or any other vegetables of your choice, chicken or beaf and cold drinks. You'll still have some little change remaining. This calculation and analysis is based on my current location and it's a local area where they engage in farming and animal rearing. To some, this might not be a standard meal but it is at least average considering the income.

If we are to talk about the house rent and other expenses, then we must also consider the type of environment you're living in. At this present place, it cost $80-$100 to rent a single room with bathroom, toilet and kitchen per annum. Other expenses like transportation and electricity depends on individual usage. You can spend up to $10 on electricity monthly depending on how many units you use per day and transportation depends on how far your place of work is. Averagely, $0.5 daily on transportation for to and fro.

It's still impossible for one to live comfortably with just a single means of income unless you have no plans for future. Its high time to look for alternatives means and increase the income in order to meet up with bills and other plans.

Cost of living is increasing virtually everyday here in my country. As the economic inflation is getting worse globally. In my country, prices of things varies based on the location you find yourself and the truth is that non of it is cheap as they are all on the high side as a result of the dollar exchange rate as we virtually depend on importation whereby virtually everything we consume in our country are imported except for the few local products that is produced in the country and even at then, the prices are on the high side. House rent is  drastically on the rise, transportation is every day thing as fuel price is increasing too. So you can see that even in some countries, all prices for the same produce varies based on the location where you find yourself. I will do a proper findings to get the accurate  figures to update here because if one depends on the government figures, I bet you it would be wrong because they are not reliable as they have no idea what is happening as all they know is to embezzle funds.

I remember reading something here in the forum that the minimum wage for employees is only around $49. I thought that our country had the lowest minimum wage, but I was wrong.

Because here in our country, I can say that the minimum wage earnings are quite good when you are an ordinary employee here, because the minimum wage is around $350, which is not bad at all. Although the prime commodities here in our country are expensive, they are still able to survive.

About 4 years ago, I worked for a company in the city with an income that I thought was very good, converted to about $1500, and actually, with that income, living expenses were not a concern of mine. Because every month, I only spend about $200 for rent + $150 for food and transportation + incidental expenses of only <$100. But I have completely moved to a place that is considered quite rural, where the cost of living is no longer a problem because I can earn my own food every day, and growing food is quite comfortable.
I have a small house near the hill, and there are also ponds around. Perhaps few choose the life I have now because the friends who often contact me and also often meet at my house all say my life is simple. I'm not sure, but in the place where I live, which is considered a country with a developing economy, I think the amount that people can easily earn monthly regardless of the job is probably > $300. With such an amount of money depending on living needs, the spending, IMO is enough so that people don't have much pressure. But for those who have bigger goals in life, of course they have to make an effort to get a good job, so they can build a house, buy a car, get married,... Anyway, for me now life is quite peaceful.

one meal per one person probably around $2,  you can eat in a restaurant, or you can cook, that's just my minimum estimate that a person could at least eat a decent meal.

Quote
what is the standard food menu?
Fish Tinola I guess, or fried fish. I use fish because it's the cheapest and more delicious than just eating vegi. No offense to vegitarians here.  :)

Around $250 per month. Though having a salary like that can still be considered poor but enough to survive as long as you know how to manage your finances, you know, like prioritizing your needs and not getting much loans.

I'm trying to be frank! The restaurant that I often buy breakfast and lunch boxes from, the same usual menu, taste the same, I'm glad they taste look and smell exactly the same so I can be sure what I buy and eat is not some frankenstein products, straight to the point, the price is now 80% increased during 2020 to 2023, I remember it was $5 just before pandemic, but it is now $9 for a pax, shocking isn't it? It is probably the most steep price hike within a few years.

It is difficult to tell the price of each thing separately but I just want to say that the price of food in our country has doubled from the normal situation at present the same food which used to be bought for 10 dollars but now we have to spend 20 dollars. People have expressed a lot of anger about the increase in commodity prices, but the government has not shown any positive hope to the people. The price of food has increased, the price of daily necessities has increased, the cost of schooling for children has increased, but only a father's salary has not increased. Celery is the same as it used to be, but now the price of only essential items has doubled due to which now it is a war situation with families.

Wow, this is a huge increase. In my country everything returned to normal after the pandemic was over. What causes prices not to fall after the pandemic is over? are you from Europe?

~cut~

Monthly income in your country is very high, but the cost of living is also very expensive.

~cut~

Can you predict why prices will rise and not return to normal after the pandemic is over? Does your country mostly import food commodities?

You have said it all. The price of things have so skyrocketed that it is quite difficult to say exactly what meal is actually a standard meal or not. What might be a standard meal to one person might not be called a standard meal to the next person.  This is as a result of the differences in purchasing power of these individuals.  In my country,  many people are  just eating to survive,  it doesn't matter if it is a balanced diet or not because they are preparing what they can afford. Food wastage has decreased greatly. Who would want to waste a meal you spent fortunes to prepare? This is the situation of things now, not just on foodstuffs but on all commodities and  services that have a price tag.

Average income: $200

Cost of living:
1. House rent (including utility bills): $65
2. Transportation: $10-$30

All calculations per month, cost of standard meal around $0.64-$1.28 which usually you will get rice, fried chicken, some vegetables and ice tea.

I am also from Indonesia, specifically on the island of Lombok.

2. Transportation: $26-$30
3. Food: $65 *standard meal around $0.3-$0.5 we will get rice with small chicken and chili sauce, with mineral water too.

Same. I also come from Indonesia, specifically on the island of Sumatra. I myself am currently still unemployed and have no income from work. However most monthly incomes in my area are also around $150-200 as this is the minimum wage standard.

When talking about the cost of living, of course each region is different. Moreover, living in a small town means the cost of living will be cheaper than in a big city. Lombok is a tourist area, of course the cost of living is slightly higher. However, what is clear is that in each region in Indonesia the cost of living is definitely different.

Cost of living in my area:
1. House rent (including electricity and jet pump bills): $35
2. Transportation cost is about $10 - $15
3. The food was probably about the same, about $50-65 for three meals a day with standard meals and we also got hot tea.

Average Income: 200-400 USD per month

Rent: 60-100 USD per month
Food: $8-10/day (Single person) / 12-15(married)
 Breakdown (Have family)
   1. Rice - 1kl - $1
   2. Beef - 1kl- $6
   3. Others - $2

Fare: $2

Total overall expense: $20 per day i should say (married person)

This is why if you dont really have that extra income source and getting that low amount of salary
then you would really be struggling on making a living. This is why it would be ideal that you
should really be finding another income source or having some business. So it does vary on how someone
would really be handling himself into this hard life. :)

In the Philippines, the average salary is about $300 to $400

If I eat like bare cost for a day which is 3 meals, and cook at my house, I'd probably spend

around $8

I'll cook rice in the morning maybe half a kilo which will cost $0.5, it's up until the evening, will just reheat.

Then I'll cook eggs, hotdog, bread, or rice in the morning + coffee - $1.5

In the afternoon, I'll cook a viand - $4

In the evening, I'll cook another viand - $4

The sad part is that this budgeting of meals is just for 1 person, so imagine if you have a family to feed.

Average house rent is around $80 and bills at $30 to $50.

So it is advisable here in the Philippines, if you have a partner, both of you should work to afford above minimum salary meals, save before having a child.

I don't know what good this survey will bring to you, but I would like to say that even if I live in my country's city, let's say any small city, it does not mean the rates in a country are the same everywhere. The rates at my place cannot be the same as they might be in another city. But to give you a hard guess, for simple food in my city, which is roti and salad, we have to pay at least 150 to 200 pkr per meal (in dollars, it becomes $0.52 to $0.7). These are very high due to inflation, but if we go somewhere else, like a big city, the rates can exceed $1.

As food eaten in different places is different, the rates are also different, but to get an average, you can say we have to pay $1 for one meal, which is the simplest.

And average monthly salary is around 30k ($104.53) pkr to 40k ($139.37) pkr issued by the government for the lowest labor, even if they are working in the private or government sector. But as you stated, you don't need tables issued by the government due to their vilification, so the same happens here. I would like to say my father's monthly salary is only 20k pkr as a night security guard.

If you have heard about Indonesia then I come from that country, our country is in the developing country category and people's income here is still in the low category (average $200/month), here the cost of living for a person or family actually varies, depending What city or region do you come from, but usually in the Indonesian capital (Jakarta) the cost of living there is quite high, it can reach $250 at the cheapest, besides that there are quite a few job opportunities so many people have to be willing to work in places that pay low wages.

I gotta say, I'm pretty jealous of folks who live in places where you can grab a good meal for just a buck or two.  I'm from this tiny country in the Western Balkans where you'd be lucky to find anything decent for under $10 and  even if you buy all the ingredients yourself and cook it at home, its still not cheap.  But it's not just the food - I wish I lived somewhere with an average monthly income of $2,000-$3000 or more.  Here, most folks earn $1,000 a month if they're lucky.  You really need some fancy college degree to land one of those cushy jobs that pays well.  This means that most of our monthly income goes to food alone. When you add housing costs to that, we are left with nothing.  I know the grass always seems greener, but man it'd be nice to catch a break on simple things like cheap meals or rent.

I live in one of the third world countries with the lowest minimum salaries on the planet. Despite this, food prices were, until recently, very low for two main reasons: First, because we are an agricultural country that relies for food production by more than fifty percent on its own resources. Secondly, because the state subsidizes all products that it is forced to import from abroad, such as vegetable oils and domestic gas.
Unfortunately, the situation has not remained as it was since the emergence of the Corona virus and the economy was forced to enter a recession that it has never experienced in its history. Then the matter got worse with the beginning of the Ukrainian war, which caused a shortage in grain supplies and an increase in their prices, in addition to the energy crisis that entered the global economy as a whole, which affected small economies terribly.
My country was suitable for living despite its limited resources, and today living there has become very difficult due to the high prices of everything, coupled with the lack of solutions and opportunities.

I'm from Indonesia, the basic salary is around $210 per month, this monthly salary depends on the work placement, and happens to be placed in a remote village.

I happen to cook myself
1. Chicken thighs 1/2 kg = Rp. $1
2. 1kg rice = $0.8
3. Raw vegetable soup =$0.2
4. Baput 1/2 ounce and Bamer 1/2 ounce = $0.3
5. 13 chilies = $0.2
6. Masako 2 = $0.1
7. Ketchup = $0.2
8. 1/4 sugar = $0.6
9. Salt = $0.4
10. Crackers 1 bks = $0.2
11. Shrimp paste 1 bks = $0.1
12. Fried chicken seasoning = $0.3
TOTAL = $4.4

The ingredients above are enough for three meals a day, I have to save money because renting a house costs $70 per month. When I leave the house, I usually go to a cafe for coffee and spend $15 and this is rarely at least 4 times a month, and for petrol $8 per month, and I save the rest of the money.

I'm from Indonesia.

The price of the food varies depending on the choice.
One meal is about - [$1.2 - $2] depending on the side dish you want.
If you eat three meals a day, you'll need about $6 or more.
Standard meal: Chicken, eggs, vegetables and other side dishes.

The average salary is known to be $200-$300 depending on the position and job title, if it is just a factory worker then it will average $200.

Rent, bills, and other necessities are enough from the salary you get, but it will be difficult to save or invest because the salary can be said to be mediocre.

It all depends on how you manage your finances.

Here in the middle of somewhere around the world, the standard of living is very expensive now, if I begin to compare it to the past 8 years. In my country, employees are paid monthly and not hourly like some countries do, and the minimum wage for some side hustle like working in a supermarket, a gas station, or just some normal employment without any degree is just about $20, but if you are multitasking like taking up two jobs, you can be earning $40–$50, and that's what most people do. You can get breakfast for $1, lunch for $1.5, and dinner for still $1, it depends on you budget and what you can consume. Utility bills are now more expensive.

I'll just answer one question amidst this interesting dialogue. However, keep in mind that the location where I live is an archipelago within a large country, so food prices in each area vary quite a lot. However, at my current location, fast food prices are still affordable. For just one dollar, I can get a plate of rice and various side dishes, including chicken, chili sauce, tofu, tempeh, and lalaban.

However, this depends on a person's personality, because the cost of eating at a restaurant can be much more expensive than at a roadside rice stall.

And because I belong to the middle economic group, of course when I buy something I look for the cheapest one, including when buying food, because when it comes to taste, everyone has their own taste, only prestige is the difference between eating at a restaurant and eating at a food stall.

Having a salary of 139 dollars per month in a guard position is very low and still very dangerous. It's a very difficult situation for a guard, especially if he has a family to feed, and even if he only has one child, it's sure to be very difficult to budget his salary if this is the only expectation for them to survive in their lives.

Probably in this situation, they always approach the lending companies, where they don't care about the size or height of the interest.

It's true, this difference is caused by Indonesia's geographical location which consists of islands. In my experience when traveling. The average cost of living in various regions of Indonesia, especially the islands of Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Madura, Lombok-Sumbawa, Bali and East Nusa Tenggara, is still somewhat reasonable and almost the same. This depends on how we choose. $300-$450 is more than enough to live in any city on the various islands, sometimes you can have extra money left over.

For eastern regions such as Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua, the cost of living there is more expensive, it can be 2 to 3 times the standard of living on Java or the other islands I mentioned earlier. This is influenced by the location of the island which is far from distribution or production centers. This results in higher costs for delivering goods and services. This is the factor that causes basic commodities there to increase up to 2-3 times.

No way you can tell just by a single meal's cost.

agreed

it’s not only the price of the ingredients you have to consider but as well what you use to cook the said meal like gas and stove or electricity for example

this is a complicated topic even if i tell you the price of a “standard meal” here you’re probably gonna think it’s cheap especially if youre in the US but again in my country 50% of my countrymen identify as poor
food is expensive here because salaries are low minimum wage workers literally get the bare minimum not even worth the job they’re doing

This has always been a weird concept when you think about it. What do you mean by "food"? I mean if we are talking about just being able to say I was fed, then I would say 100$ could be enough, or at least 200$ would be enough, per month. How? Well you would eat pasta everyday, or rice, something very cheap, and it should be very cheap to live like that, shouldn't really cost much, plus you can buy in bulk, I can buy one years worth of supply and make it VERY cheap. However, are we talking about proper food? Like including meat, which everyone should eat to be healthy? Are we talking about what we want to eat? Yes, we are not all rich eating caviar, but are you capable of buying a simple burger outside? If we are talking about something big like that, it could go as high as 500$ or more. Just a simple meat could cost you 30-40$ here, just today I bought a very small amount, 300 grams, and it was 15$ for example, all for myself, just that alone, twice a week, would be 30 dollars per week, 120 dollars a month, and that's just meat, not even talking about other 5 days and the breakfast, and don't get me started on lunch too, I already removed lunch from my life to make it cheaper. So all in all, I would say anywhere between 200 to 500 dollars for a normal person, that should be decent enough, you can spend more, like if you go outside to eat somewhere, then yeah, you can have a lot more, but I am talking about just eating and cooking inside, with ingredients you buy, not fast food, not going out, if you go out once a week, and order fast-food to home once a week, it may go as high as 1000 dollars a month, but it would also be unhealthy, I do not suggest that.

I am from Indonesia, Indonesia has a large area so prices will differ from one city to another. But I will tell you based on the city where I live. Standard meal prices are $0.7 - $1.3. The food menu usually contains rice, chicken and vegetables, and if I want to save more then I only need to spend $0.4 to buy rice and vegetables.

The average income in my city is around $150 - $250. In my city, lots of vegetables and rice grow, so in reality we don't always buy food at food stalls and often eat at home and cook for ourselves/the family so food costs are cheaper. Average monthly cost of living is around $80 (single)

The cost of everything has pretty much risen to 100% for some products, nearly doubling in price. Unfortunately, the majority of these goods are daily groceries, such as meat, cleaning supplies, fruits and vegetables, pasta, and so on. The minimum salary in Greece is €667 after taxes, while an average one ranges from €700 to €850. The average rent, on the other hand, for a 40- to 50-square-meter one-bedroom apartment is approximately €370 to €400, or about 50% of your entire salary. It's completely ridiculous.

I used to buy chicken fillet anywhere between €6 and €7 per kilo; now it's up to €10; pasta has also risen by over 20%; and dairy products and olive oil have skyrocketed. Don't get me started on fuel or energy costs. Wages, on the other hand, haven't seen a significant increase in the last few years, with all this increasing inflation of over 15% in the past two years alone.

In the Philippines

The basic salary is around $195 monthly, and the average monthly wage is around $600.
Monthly income depends on the location, it can be as low as the basic or as high as $1700.

1. House rent excluding bills - $107
2. Daily food cost (single person) - $10
3. Gasoline per liter - $1
4. Meat - $1.98 per kilo

I am from the Philippines, and I do bring my own car to work, and I can tell that it's not for everyone. Gas prices may be a dollar per liter, but given the traffic situation in the metros, your car can easily gulp a liter or two of gasoline for every 10 - 12 kilometers of travel, and that's not economical at all. As for food cost, I can say that I spend much less than that for the whole day, given I prepare my own food and only stick to what my body needs.

If I were to re-write this, here's what my expenses look like:

1. House rent: $200 for a 40-sqm, two-story apartment
2. Daily food cost: $5 that covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner
3. Gasoline consumed per day, 3 liters for a 10-km drive due to traffic, so that's $3

I can still tighten that budget if I wanted to, though I think I might be restricting myself too much if that happens. Indulgence happens once every two weeks, so I'm still feeding myself good. Compared to what I receive for my monthly pay, my expenses is quite negligible and I'm saving 70% of my pay.

So far, the most expensive commodity today is the tomato; last week it was around 1.75$ per kilo, but now it has increased too much; it hurts the pocket, honestly speaking, because it is now at the price of 2.3$ per kilo, followed by potatoes, which last week were around 1.9$ per kilo and are now at a price of 1.8$ per kilo.

Although the others have gone down, they can still be considered expensive. That's why we can't do anything; we really have to survive and find a way to get a source instead of complaining and stressing.

I am from Bangladesh, currently the price of goods has increased a lot in our country. In our country, everyone has different monthly income. Depending on where I live, a day laborer's monthly income is around $120-130. A private company job earns different salaries, some get $140-180 monthly salary, some get more and some get less. Government employees have different salaries, some have a monthly salary of $200 to $300, and some have more and some have less. And those who do business have different monthly income according to the business.

Each family spends differently. Let me mention what is usually required for 3 meals in my family and how much it costs. Main food in our country is rice and fish.
*Price of 2 kg of rice = $1.10 (approx).
*Onion required 150g approx price=$0.18 (approx).
*Fish per kg = $1.5-2, 500 grams is enough.
 *100 grams of green chillies = $0.13,
 *Cooking oil 100 grams = $0.17.
*For vegetables and spices = $1.
*If beef is eaten 2-1 days per week beef = $7 per kg
*Also various other expenses not mentioned.
Total cost for a typical 3 meals a day = about ($3.45).
There are many families who spend more than this, while some families spend even less. Now due to the increase in the prices of goods, the life of the common man has become difficult. It can be seen that common day laborers cannot save easily during the year. There are many people who save in this too. There are some who spend all their money on their daily food.

The average monthly income in our country (Indonesia) is $150 - $320 - this is the data in the local thread. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5468140.0)

About the comparison it depends on the lifestyle and where one lives, if one lives in the city then costs can be expensive including rent, bills, internet etc. then food needs for a month with that salary is still quite normal and covers their life.

When it comes to normal food that many people buy in the general public may spend $2 to $3 on ready-made food at the store, but there are some who buy groceries and cook at home.

To save money, I can cook my own meals that could last for one week for one adult. Here's the cost breakdown:

  • Chicken meat = $3/kg
  • Regular quality rice = $1/kg
  • Medium quality beef = $10/kg
  • Ready-to-drink mineral water = $1.5/gallon
  • Instant noodles = $0.2/piece
  • Chicken eggs = $3/kg
  • Salt = $1/kg
  • Spices and seasonings = $3 for a week of cooking

For my weekly food budget calculation, it amounts to $20 (w no beef), which is enough for one person. That means I need at least $2.8 per day for meals. If I choose to eat fast food, it might cost me around $5 for three meals in a day.

Many Indonesian member post the cost of living in Indonesia, but I am really sure it depends on what city and village you live in. I ever heard my friend who lives in Vilage can live with only $100 a month. that's cost an impossible thing today when we live on city where that $100 can spend at all only 3 days. I have experience even been economical after I don't have a job 10 years ago, I just can live with only $50 a month. I don't rent a home for sleep, because I sleep in the mosque after that I clean it and and get a free breakfast from Donatur. So with this situation, cost for live is just a number, to realize it is depend on how you manage it.

Everyone has their own way of managing the needs they need in a month and also expenses in the village are of course very different from expenses in the city, because if we live in the city of course we have to think about how to rent a place to live and also the cost of necessities is high unlike in the village We can still get our basic needs cheaper than in the city and if we can manage our finances well there will certainly be no difference between living in the city and living in the village.

The average monthly income here is around $270. That's according to a survey. I have doubts. It could actually be lower in reality. Before anything else, please note that the income disparity in this developing country is very wide, with the top 1% earning 17% of the national income while the bottom 50% shares only 14%.[1]

Although this could highly vary from one place to another, in my city, you can live with more or less $4 a day for food. That's composed of rice and one dish, either meat or vegetable or fish. That's if you prefer to eat at a lowly eatery.

With this income, you still have enough money left for your other expenses like rent, fare, and so on. But you are barely living. Figuratively, you're not even living; you're merely existing. But that's the general condition of the working class here. You wake up, go to work, go home, sleep. You repeat that until you die.

The standard of living costs in various countries is of course different, it is very difficult to find out how much each person actually costs for one meal because people's tastes are different. Some places may offer very cheap food, this strategy is implemented to attract buyers to visit their place. Meanwhile, other places that offer all comfort facilities for visitors will charge higher prices. I think spending on one meal depends on each individual's lifestyle, I personally prefer to buy food in simple places to maintain monthly economic stability. The taste of food sold in ordinary food stalls and food sold in luxury restaurants is almost the same, the place and way of serving it are different, making a huge difference in price.

Because the staple food in my country is rice. So I will start with the price of rice. Well the price of rice here is around $1usd for 1kg of rice. At the beginning of 2023, the price of rice will only be around $0.72 USD per kg. But because inflation and price increases occurred in various sectors, they then rose and are currently $1 USD per Kg.
And 1kg of rice is usually enough to feed 2 people in a small family for one day. or for three meals. because usually here we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Then we also usually buy 1/2kg chicken meat per day. at a price of around $1.2 Usd per 1/2kg. we bought cooking spices for around $0.3usd which could even be enough for 2 days. And we also bought vegetables (lately I also bought vegetables because last summer the plants in my yard dried up and I gave up on watering them). I shop for complete vegetables per day, spending around $0.7 USD. This is just a rough idea. for more details, it's actually not much different.

so that I make food for 1 day which costs approx
rice = $1usd
chicken meat= $1.2usd
cooking spices= $0.3
Vegetables= $0.7usd
total = $3.2usd.

Maybe I didn't take into account the additional costs of gas and electricity. but if I calculate it will only add costs around $ 1 USD. but that includes electricity needs for everything. so I don't include it in food costs.

So I can serve food for 2 people in my house and only spend around $3.2 USD per day. This is just for standard food, OK? And I have to admit that the cost of food in our country is quite low when compared to other more developed countries. I could even save more if I started planting vegetables again in my yard.

Meanwhile the average income here is probably around $300usd per month for a typical employee. But I don't want to reveal my own income. So I will measure by the average employee income here. So if you can spend $3.2 USD per day then in 30 days we (3.2 x 30 = 96) well we only spend $96 USD per month on food for 2 people at home. But this is just food costs. Electricity, gas, mobile credit, health and home maintenance costs and others. then $300usd won't actually have much left to save. Unless 2 people in the house work together so they earn $300x2=$600usd. So $300 USD can be enough for the needs of 2 people and the remaining $300 USD can be saved and invested.

In the Philippines, the average salary is about $300 to $400
~
So it is advisable here in the Philippines, if you have a partner, both of you should work to afford above minimum salary meals, save before having a child.
Thanks for this one. I would like to ask some questions.
1. Which part of the region pays $300-400$? If you are talking about our highest minimum wage which is in NCR, I did calculate, and converted it, and if you worked for 24 days, you will only get roughly $244.74 (that's based on the current PHP/USD conversion).
2. Are you living in the NCR or in the province? Because I have a relative living in NCR, and he said that the average house rent there is more or less $200. I don't know if there's any house owner in the NCR that's renting their house for $80 per month. Correct me though.

Food cost in our country is different in every region.

1. If you live in an urban area like NCR here in the Philippines, it will be hard for you to survive if you only have one source of income in your family because the prices of food out there are so damn high. From meat to milk, to vegetables, to rice, etc. I can't say a specific amount how much a family spends on food on a daily basis since I don't live in an urban area, but if I'll estimate it, the lowest would be at least 10$ per day, Of course, it will depend on some factors like how many are you in your family, where did you buy it, etc., etc.

2. Now if you're living in a rural area, or let's say a province like me, the cost of food might be lower, and it's because you can just plant in your backyard. In an urban area, I'm not saying it's impossible to plant, but it's harder than in the rural areas where they have large backyards where they can just plant any seed that they want. If you're industrious, and you have many vegetables planted in your area, that decreases that food cost since you didn't buy it. In some agricultural areas, some farmers don't buy rice because they have their own rice fields where they can just plant rice there. TBH, in rural areas, the amount of food that you can spend is more than half less than it is in urban areas.

Food cost in our country differs depending on what area you are living, but having only 1 source of income nowadays isn't enough to support a whole family of 3 unless that 1 source of income is giving you 6-digit income per month.

Because I live in a country with a very large area, there are many differences between salaries and living costs in each region, and I will share the places where I live.
The basic salary (if according to government regulations) is around $300
House rental fee $100 (with bills and this is a simple rental house)
Meal Cost $4.5-$6 = $180 (with 3 meals and varied menu)
Transportation $1-$1.5/day=$37.5-$40
The average person will find it difficult to save because their salary will automatically run out for just one month's living and they will get more when there is a bonus or when there are religious holidays.
However, this is not the full picture because even in big cities there are still people who receive wages below the standards set by the government so they will fall into the category of poor people and the government will routinely distribute assistance every month in the form of rice but unfortunately many poor people also do not receive this assistance.

Indian estimates according to my experience, it's huge country prices vary a lot.

In hotels you can get full size meal for about $2 (search Indian thali for image on Google). Most Vegetables start with 0.25 USD/KG. Rice-lentils start from 0.50 USD/KG (depends on quality, branded items cost more), milk 0.6 USD/KG.

Fast food costs 0.36 USD/plate, some items half of it.

Average income about 250 USD.

If you watch westerners exploring India on YouTube , you'll get better idea.

That's right, it's not just income and living costs that vary from country to country. Even regions and provinces within a country will have huge differences in prices and living costs. Therefore, the cost of living depends on the personal income of each person and each household and there cannot be a general assessment. If we have a low income, we will have a completely different spending level than those with higher incomes and vice versa.

When I was a worker, I only spent 2 USD/day on main meals or even ate at work to save money. But when my income improved dramatically and my expenses sometimes went up to $50 per day, it was hard to know what the average cost was.

In the country where I live, food is considered expensive compared to the global average prices. But I want to note one important detail that the author of the topic missed: the quality of food is also different all over the world. Chicken fillet in the USA is very expensive, it is considered a healthy food, while it has almost no taste and smell. At the same time, in my country, the taste of chicken is excellent, you can always smell and taste. Therefore, sometimes it is better that the products are not cheap, but the taste qualities should be in the food! After all, gastronomic sensations are one of the greatest joys in life.

This question doesn't have basis nor direction. It's a plain question that is supposed to have a specificity because I don't understand how you want to know cost of living in a country when you know that there would be many answers because we have urban areas and rural areas. Even urban areas cost of living different and if you are been given wrong information, you can assumed that it's the truth but meanwhile, it's the wrong information.

Let me give you some instances: In nigeria, we have big cities like Lagos, Portharcourt, Abuja, this cities are the kind of place you will find everything, social life is there, Real Estate development and many more but do you know that we have more big cities like the ones I made mention? The problem with the other one might be challenging due to difference in religion, places like Kano is a big city but you can't socialize like that in Kano because of their believe and cost of living is different despite they are all big cities in Nigeria. We have other big cities I didn't mention and you cannot compare the cost of living in these areas because of differences in ethnicity, security and many more.

In Philippines, The basic monthly salary offer is $250.00- $300.00 and the average income is $650.00 but it depends on your location because we have a city and provincial rate. Provincial rate is lower than the city rate because of the cost of living in City is much higher especially Around BGC, Makati and Manila. For the cost of one meal is $3.00 and the standard food menu from Fast food chain is chicken, Rice and Drinks.

I think almost all countries are going through recession now. Although the price of food products is high in European countries, there is sufficient income, but in African and Asian countries, the cost of food is much higher than the income for middle and low class families. So I think most of the users of this forum will say almost the same.  Currently, the prices of food products are increasing at a huge rate.  Which is beyond the reach of some

There are websites that can help get the general idea based on inputs of people who have actually lived in various countries and cities. I've used Numbeo  (https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/)for that multiple times, both just for fun and when planning to relocate somewhere. I think the prices are fairly accurate, but estimated monthly costs are not, they are way higher than people can normally afford.
Based on personal experience, drinks and a couple of main courses cost around $25. If you shop for food, $550 is enough for food for two people per month (but of course it's pretty subjective and depends a lot on what sort of things you buy). I can't tell you the prices for one person because I don't live alone, and prices for two people are normally lower than for one because you can buy bigger packs of things, cook meals for two, etc. As for average monthly income after taxes, it's around $550 per person.

Since inflation is going higher each day, we should also expect that the purchasing rate of food items should also inflate in price, people are finding it more difficult because food items are getting expensive daily, the only means to survive out of these is to go i to agricultural farming business or for our own self and family sustainability, this will reduce the cost of what we buy or spend on food items, but on a general sense, food items shouldn't be expensive to that extent that people will find buying them unaffordable, everyone should have access to what to eat daily as long as they can afford to work.

Maybe it's not that important, but for me it's important because I can find out prices in other countries based on each person's experience where they live. That's interesting and a note for me. I have a prediction that in the next few years there will probably be a food shortage, and if I were still here I would be asking the same thing in the next few years.

10 USD can probably feed me for about 1 day and then have the leftovers of that day feed me up to lunch but that is if I were to use that 10 USD to buy myself the ingredients for the dish I plan to make since homecook meals are much cheaper and the portions are much bigger than those food that you're ordering on a restaurant. If I look at my local currency though, I can't help but feel dissatisfied because the salary in my country hasn't improved for a long time even though a recent raise in wages were approved, the inflation is evening it out so there's nothing to gain out of it.

Yes that's right. Every country is experiencing a recession, especially with war in several countries, of course this will have a big impact, with food prices increasing in every country so that whatever salary you receive will not be able to cover your basic needs in a month. So when you receive your salary, you don't have enough savings because at the end of every month you always experience a lack of money.

In my country there is also a very rapid increase, of course because of the recession that continues to hit every country. Luckily, those who live in villages don't need to buy vegetables because they can just pick them in the garden so they can cover whatever their salary is. The average salary in my country is $200 and daily living expenses for food and transportation is $15, of course a salary of $200 is not enough for a month's needs and I am lucky to be able to earn extra income from this forum.

The cost of a standard meal in my country depends on where you are having the meal, which is your location. So I will give cost for comparison under a well packaged restaurant where you can buy and eat your food there, and then a road side food vendor, where you just buy your food and take it home.

I will use our popular menu white rice and Chicken Tomato stew, spaghetti and then Beans, soft drinks which are common meals and drinks in the menu of the well packaged restaurants and the road side vendors.

Well Packaged Restaurant
Cost of a plate of white rice and Chicken Tomato stew - $6.23
Cost of a plate of Spaghetti and a protein of your choice - $6.23
Cost of a plate of Beans - $1.12 per portion, the more portions you need, the more the price.
Cost of soft drink - $1.25

If someone buys food three times daily for 30 days (3 x $6.23 x 30), that is a total of $560.7 which means that you have to be earning way more than the minimum wage to afford three meals a day for thirty days in a well packaged restaurants.

Road side food vendor
Cost of a plate of white rice and Chicken Tomato stew - $1.25
Cost of a plate of Spaghetti and a protein of your choice - $1.25
Cost of a plate of Beans - $0.37 for a small size, price increases if you want more.
Cost of soft drink - $0.31

If someone buys food three times daily for 30 days (3 x $1.25 x 30), that is a total of $112.5, which is above the minimum wage, so someone who earns the minimum wage or less will not be able to afford three meals per day for days, they will have to starve on some days.

Minimum wage as at 1st September 2023 was increased officially from $41.10 to $80.95 on paper, but some people are still receiving the old rates of $41.10 and some even less than that because some employers do not care about minimum wage.

In my region according to those who are into business they said the reason why food price keeps  getting high Is because of the increase of price of petrol which many vehicles use for transportation of goods and food stuffs. But I don't think this is a good reason why food price keeps increasing.  I think people are using the price of petrol,  inflation and the dollar price as an advantage to make more money from common  people.  I feel the government can still do something to help to reduce the high price of food stuff but it is so bad they to see that they are not making any effort to make things better.

I am from a Third World country. Price of foods went up a lot because of the inflation happening all over the world. So here's a detail for food cost in my country (Bangladesh). Maybe it will be hard to compare a Third World country's price with USD but I will try to explain it with some example.

So the average income here in Bangladesh is around $243 US dollar. You can rent a house with $100 plus per month. Excluding the additional fees. Depending on the house you want to rent it could also be from $50 to $100. So this is an average house rental cost.

If you want a decent meal then you need to at least spend $3 to $5. If you want to have something more than average then you need at least $10 to $15 for that. That's just prepared food served in food hotels.

1 kg beef meat will cost you $7 plus.
1 kg rice will cost you $0.63(+/-)
1L soybean oil will cost you $2.5 (+/-)

All the stuff like vegetable and ingredients for cooking could cost minimum of $10 to $15. Could vary from time to time based on market condition.

Minimum wage in Bangladesh is $25. So you can imagine how most of the people are suffering and how much it costs for us to get the food.

Yeah there are differences, and that is why the OP came up with this question to gather each users from different countries and know each of their responses. I'm sure that each of us knows how much is the cost of their meal even if they are not the ones who do the grocery because they can still get curious and ask that person in charge and/or see their receipts. By there, they can now calculate it easily and share it here on this thread.

It's only one thing which is food that we are talking about here so we can disregard the cost of other services. But other than attracting a customer, may be the owner's aim is also to help provide cheap food for the people? I already saw or heard a food business like this. They are too kind and I like that personality.

Besides depending on your income you could afford more expensive food other people may not be able to afford, so I prefer to look at things in terms of percentage, so when I think about all the costs I have to pay to live my life and the amount I get paid I only need to spend 50% of my monthly salary to sustain myself and any other related expenses, which allows me to save half of my income which I eventually invest in bitcoin.

don't know your monthly income but I'm sure it's very difficult for us to maintain 50% for savings and investments, we know the impact of inflation has worsened the condition of countries everywhere, almost all aspects of prices have experienced drastic increases so we can only save around 15-20% per month, Sometimes I think about looking for another half-day job for additional income but job vacancies are limited due to the impact of many people losing their jobs during the pandemic, but however I will try to get other income to increase savings funds for my family's needs.

This is not bad since its a Third world country, despite having underdevelopment your country manage to have low cost of goods than mine, I will share with you how much it will cost in dollar to get some of the things you listed. Today, in my country, the local currency is ₦1100 to a dollar, that is high right? To tell you that the highest domination of the country is a ₦1000. In Nigeria currently, a bag of Rice is about ₦56,000 right now and if I'm to convert that to dollar, that's going to be $50.91 for 50kg and for every KG of rice you have to spend $1.02 to have a KG of rice, almost twice of the amount you buy in your country been a third world while mine is developing country.

A kg of beef is around $3 from my conversion,  and a liter of refine vegetable oil cost $1.4 here and these prices are general except for the big men that like luxury life that prefer to buy things in super market, such market are extra costly because of there fanciness and packaging but if you check an beverage shop or central markets, the prices are all the same and slightly lower than that if you go to nothern part of the country.

The minimum wage in Nigeria is ₦30,000 and conversion to dollar, that is equivalent to $27.3, we are not too different from you guys and yet my country call herself the giant of Africa, our government need to do better.

I want to know about the cost of living and average income in each country. Can I ask that here?
The cost of living for most people may vary and depends on how much income they get from work because usually the cost of living will be balanced with our respective incomes. You are free to ask anything, but are there any conclusions that we can discuss here to provide a solution to the problem?

For comparison, may I ask how much a standard meal in your country costs for one meal? what is the standard food menu? What is the average monthly and annual income in your country? Please those who answer can use calculations in USD
Every day I buy rice for lunch because my house is far from work, generally the price of rice for one pack in the area where I live is between $1 to $2 because it depends on the fish or side dishes you order. Likewise regarding income and perhaps most follow the regional UMP, but for freelance work such as construction workers, employee salaries in shops and other jobs range from $191.02 and below.

Note: I don't need the tables issued by the government because they are usually different from the reality on the ground
I also want to know why you intend to know this price and whether it is related to the increase in the price of goods which continues to increase in the increasingly difficult economic situation in society.

Well, not all people are like you or us and get a good profit because we all know how to get a good income if an individual is in the field of cryptocurrency.

Here in our country, all citizens are concerned about the price of goods available. Right now, the vegetables that are sold are only the ones that are expensive in the market. Just vegetable ingredients, no pork or chicken—we spent a lot right away.

So what's happening is that instead of adding other vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, cabbage, and others, what I've done is that I don't have those that I mentioned; I only cook pork or chicken; that's all I do. I. We budget our money, and then we also budget the cooking of the dish that we will eat at the end of the day.

Here in the United States the average cost of an average meal differs a good bit.  It really depends on what type of meal you're looking for.  Also, are we speaking breakfast, lunch or dinner?

I would say on average a breakfast costs around $5-7, lunch around $8-10 and dinner around $15 or so.  Now this differs greatly depending on where at in the country you plan on getting the meal from.  A dinner downtown chicago will cost a heck of a lot more than one in say Carbondale Illinois, a small little college town.

Nothing is impossible, we are living in Indonesia bruh, everything can be done quite easily when money is not enough.
I live in a village and also close to the city, the average monthly income of factory workers is around $150 ($200 is too much and this is only for office workers or workers in government or companies that follow the minimum wage standards).
Even those who work in private companies can only make $100 per month.

It's quite impossible to live on $100/month, but it happens and if it's enough, it depends on how you manage the money.

The cost of living is just a number, it depends on how you manage it properly.
There are many kind people who provide free breakfast etc. and that is a help for those who earn less than $100/month.

So each region in Indonesia has different income levels.
In big cities, the income is high but the cost of living is high.
In the villages the income is low but the cost of living is very cheap.

Imagine that for only Rp.5000 or $0.30 you can enjoy rice with side dishes to relieve your hunger.

The minimum wage in the Philippines varies by region, ranging from US$5.49 (PHP 306) per day in the BARMM region to US$10.22 (PHP 570) per day in the National Capital Region, or about US$115 (PHP 6,426) to US$215 (PHP 11,970) per month

And if you're feeling adventurous in the kitchen, ingredients like tomatoes, onions, and cilantro for a pico de gallo recipe (https://www.delishknowledge.com/pico-de-gallo/) won't cost you an arm and a leg either. So, if you ever visit Mexico, prepare to indulge in delicious food without breaking the bank.

Some may have shared about the standard cost of living here in PH, but I just want to be specific that we all have different minimum wage per region. I live in a region where the minimum wage per day is around $6 per day or that's the total of a 9-5 job with only 1 day off per week.
That kind of earning is just enough for you to survive for you or a family consisting of 3-4 members, to eat 3 times daily.
I don't want to put a specific cost of meals, rents, bills, and everything along these line, but I could only say, you'll live a comfortable life here in PH if you're earning $1k per month being single, if you're a family man you'll need at least $1500 - $2000 combined if your wife has a job.

Currently the economic situation in my country is really bad and it has affected the common people a lot. There is a huge increase in food availability in my country today, where people are struggling to get their daily food. People who work as daily laborers are not able to meet all the needs of their family every day and they are suffering a lot due to lack of food. Although I am currently mentioning the prices of some vegetables and food items in my country which have increased by almost four times in 2023.

potatoes (1000gm) $0.70
egg  (1 dozen ) $1.50
Oil ( 1000gm ) $2.50
Sugar ( 1000gm ) $1.45
Chicken ( 1000gm ) $2

All in all starting from small to increasing the price of all food but here the government is not taking any action. The price of all commodities starting from food is constantly increasing, but the government is not taking any initiative to prevent it.

Japan average monthly salary ~2500 USD (It may reach 7K as an average income)
Prices vary greatly depending on the region, but I will mention the prices in my region:
Rice $1
Ramen: $6.
Sushi meal: $15.
Bread: $2.
Dinner at an average restaurant: $40.
Coffee: two dollars.
Transportation: $2 to $16.
Rent: starts from $200.
Average cost of living for an individual: $1,000.
Average cost of life for a family: $2,500.

The average food cost of different countries is posted here and in my country too. It's an average calculation and changes from state to state, even though it's roughly the same. So I don't want to post the same thing here.I never thought of the family expenses until I saw your post. I just want to say it's really eye-opening. And we can compare the individual and family expenses separately. The importance of this is that expenses are changing according to our responsibilities and the situation we are in. So it's entirely different between the average living expenses of a person living in each state and the actual living expenses of a person living in the state. Even though the salary of the person is still not changing according to our essential needs,

I think this financial plan of yours sounds pretty good! Saving half your income is seriously impressive.  Looking at your expenses as percentages makes sense too.  Investing in bitcoin is an interesting angle.  How's that been working out so far? Overall your strategy seems solid.  I wish I could save that much every month too.

Here in Romania , everything went up in price! Absolutely everything and it's getting worse and worse as the minimum wage is still the same but almost every grocery have increase in value aprox 35% which is insane for a country like Romania.  We don't have Euro , we don't have salaries like in western europe and yet , we have the same prices like we are using Euro as currency and we live in Western Europe which is not fair at all and that's why I kinda don't like the EU anymore. I think we Romanians , we are the only ones who can save our country for collapsing because it's clearly we are heading in that direction and our fake and corrupted officials are laughing in our faces.  >:( >:(

People in Asia or my country always dream of Europe and they think it is paradise and the most worth living place after America, but it's amazing to see you share about what's going on there. And one thing you also need to know is that what you are going through in your country is exactly what we are going through, and many places are even worse. The only people who don't feel these bad things are the rich, and the majority of people in the middle class and below are experiencing terrible things from the price increase of everything. But complaining is useless, it won't bring prices down, there is no second solution other than finding ways to increase our income.

Yes, it seems like food price increases are happening in almost all countries, and we have to accept this because everyone feels the impact of rising food prices. And in a situation like this we are required to be smart and independent to be able to overcome it and increasing income is something that must be done.
And having a side income or additional job is a good way to still be able to meet our living needs, without having to reduce the important things in our intake that we must continue to eat to stay healthy and smart. And this is what I have to prioritize in a situation like this, so that I, my wife and my children stay healthy by eating healthy food.
There's no point in complaining because it's not just us who feel it, but almost everyone and all countries experience it, especially the lower middle class.

Now a days cost of living is more than one's salary and it is hard to complete all expenses with a single salary. Every person does not have their own houses therefore the rent of house is also very high and as well as the taking meal also requires money. Instead of these two necessaries we also need to pay bills of our houses.

Expenses are higher these days and salary are not enough to accommodate these things so side job is very necessary because if a single person is earning for at least ten persons then his salary will not be enough to feed these ten people.
Rent of house is $52.2
Bill for electricity is almost $27
Feeding cost is more than $70

salary is less in amount so instead of these materials there are other expenses too. A normal man cannot fulfilled these necessaries so side job can only help us to cover our daily needs.

Yeah, from the information you give we are quite similar. But the thing is, we can never compare each other and come to a same term when it comes to value of food products. There are many things that go in while creating a value for a product in a country. And I think it is the government or the system that is corrupted and for that we have to face this kind of price. Compared to your country, The price may be a little bit low but not everyone is making minimum wage or the average wage. We have less food but more mouths to feed. For this reason despite having lower price than your country, people here find it hard to accumulate food with what they earn.

It's the inability of the government to control the inflation. Also, they can't provide enough opportunity for every people. For this reason many people are unemployed and can't earn. So you can easily imagine the situation. Poor people can't afford 3 meals a day. Having lower price doesn't mean anything in this situation.

I think tomatoes is one of the most expensive commodities in the market, but since it is this way for people to cut the expenses of buying tomatoes in the market,  I think tomatoes is what people can plant in their environment to reduce cost of price in the market.

I think the best thing people needs to do now is to go into farming to plant some products which will reduce expenses of buying things.

That feels like there is something wrong fundamentally there all together. I mean even something as simple as rice could cost 63 cents, and the minimum wage is 25 dollars, if that's the reality you are talking about that means your entire one month worth of effort worths as much as less than 40k of rice? Is that true? If that is true, you are making just a little bit more than 1kg per rice per day, that's just not normal, that is not how any nation should be, that is worse than anything else I have heard.

I have heard that there were like 100-120 dollars range for Bangladesh workers, but I think that wasn't the case for everyone? That's just for one workers in the factory or something? Feels like it's quite difficult to arrange something like that, and I did not see that happening at any given moment. I hope that people could realize that they are not going to end up with anything that would be weird to handle, we should be able to see those people live a better life.

For comparison, may I ask how much a standard meal in your country costs for one meal? what is the standard food menu? What is the average monthly and annual income in your country? Please those who answer can use calculations in USD

Note: I don't need the tables issued by the government because they are usually different from the reality on the ground

For my country Nigeria the prices of food and other household items have skyrocketed recently.
House rent  depending your choice of location: the price ranges from $200-$1000 per annual.
2. For a good meal, the price is around $5, for a single but for a family, you can budget more.
Electricity bill price is around $15 per month depending on your usage.

Minimum wage as at 1st September 2023 was increased officially from $41.10 to $80.95 on paper, but some people are still receiving the old rates of $41.10 and some even less than that because some employers do not care about minimum wage.

Is this the minimum wage limit set by your country? I think it's very small, I come from a third world country and the minimum wage limit in my country is determined based on the province of my country, the amount varies depending on the provisions but from what I know the minimum is around $150. Although in practice not everyone gets the minimum wage, especially those who work in the small private sector. The minimum wage only applies to large companies and people who work in the government sector. May I know which country are you from?

I want to know about the cost of living and average income in each country. Can I ask that here?
The cost of living for most people may vary and depends on how much income they get from work because usually the cost of living will be balanced with our respective incomes. You are free to ask anything, but are there any conclusions that we can discuss here to provide a solution to the problem?

No, I am not looking for a solution to this problem because I am not capable of solving such a complex problem.

Note: I don't need the tables issued by the government because they are usually different from the reality on the ground
I also want to know why you intend to know this price and whether it is related to the increase in the price of goods which continues to increase in the increasingly difficult economic situation in society.

Yes, I have a prediction that the world will experience a food crisis in the next few years. I speculate that this will start in Europe. Maybe I will ask the same thing in the next few years to ask the same thing and how prices have changed or are still stable

Wow, the price is very expensive. Is a $5-$7 meal the standard meal most Americans eat?

Imagine that for only Rp.5000 or $0.30 you can enjoy rice with side dishes to relieve your hunger.

Don't forget, "Nasi Padang" which costs only $0.6, is a food that unites the nation because we can enjoy delicious beef "rendang"  :D

If you go to fastfoods restaurants, the typical menu with rice and viand will cost you around $1.5 and up. But if it's just like the street restaurant, you'll already have food for at least $1 or even lesser. It's like meat and it will cost you lesser if it's vegetable. Usually, the servings for these foods aren't enough to make you full but at least you're able to eat and survive for that time.

What is the average monthly and annual income in your country? Please those who answer can use calculations in USD
A minimum wage per day in our capital is 610 Philippine peso so that's around $10.7 for working 8 hours a day + 1 hour of lunch break. Too low honestly compared with cost of living here and take note, that it is even lower rate in the countryside because we have this "Manila rate" or capital rate. The calculation is $10.7 * 5 = $214+ if you work 5 times a week. And do the calculation if it's 6 times a week. Very low, honestly and that's why most of us have side hustles.

In my country, last several weeks rising prices of basic necessities such as rice make us on difficult position have to back up with our basic necessities because not enough with payment salary. Its really important have to back up our income with side job due every day the increasing up or food cost. Right now with our money inflation we have face another thing with food price keep increase up every day and relying on income from salary is not enough to meet basic daily needs.

Having family make us have working hard and smart way how to get passive income not only from main job but also need side job with highest payment salary if want back up with all our family needed. Keep working hard and spent some of our income for investing if want make balance later because we need take rest later if not possibility work anymore.

Yes, there is no point in complaining even if we move to another country because we are all in the same situation. If we move to another country and just wait for the government to support us or wait for the crisis and inflation to pass without doing anything else, we will not get better.

We have no other solution than increasing income by any means, other than this solution, I really can't think of any other solution. I also have to work longer hours so my family can have enough meals instead of waiting for the government to help. I never expected them to come help me, if I don't save myself, no one will come to save me. That's my philosophy in life.

well.. that's the minimum wage, which means there's potential to earn a higher salary than that. It's indeed interesting to learn about some countries setting low wages for ordinary jobs. However, after researching the cost of food in the Philippines, it's not significantly different from my country. This means there's still an opportunity for filipinos to have some savings after meeting basic needs like food and bills.

As for bills and utilities, it not much different from Indonesia. I can assume that the wage is relatively low when compared to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. In Jakarta, the minimum wage for workers is around $15 per day with a 7 hour workday... and food prices are slightly lower, as there's still regular quality rice available at $1 per kg. Maybe people in Jakarta can save more compared to those in Manila.

The websites I used as references to get food price information are: https://hikersbay.com/prices/philippines?lang=id

First of all I don't want to mention the name of the country I live in for privacy reasons but I can say that I live in a country where the income level is not very high within the borders of Europe. When we subtract my share of house rent from the entire salary (including bills) on average I end up with an amount between 950-1.000 USD per month. (I don't have a fixed salary for each month because of my performance bonus for each month.)

To talk about food prices;

In a mid-level restaurant, meal prices generally vary between 10 USD and 20 USD with a drink. A simple McDonald's menu varies between 6 USD and 10 USD. The cost of buying food products from the market and cooking at home varies between 2-3 USD depending on the sauce used in simple dishes such as pasta and chicken and meat dishes vary between 5-10 USD per person on average. A quality piece and a good meat dish can cost 10 USD or more even though it is usually made at home.

In Indonesia.

Average income: $200

Cost of living:
1. House rent (including utility bills): $65
2. Transportation: $10-$30
3. Food: $60-$100

All calculations per month, cost of standard meal around $0.64-$1.28 which usually you will get rice, fried chicken, some vegetables and ice tea.
Yes, it's true what you said, the average income of each worker in all cities in Indonesia is the range you said, except for big cities, This is different from the income of those who work and live in the city. the opinion is much greater than other areas, of course the expenditure is also much greater, from accommodation to transportation it is not too far from what you say in terms of costs, Renting a place to live is quite expensive, around $100, from food needs for a day you can earn $6 and even then the side dishes are quite simple, grilled chicken, various kinds of vegetables and sweet iced tea.

I agree that one meal won't be enough to see a perfect representation of the standard of living but if you actually try and make it daily in the span of a month, you can probably calculate the average food cost that a household spend on one meal of the day, the time of meal is a big factor though. But what I've suggested is flimsy though as you've mentioned, location of where they've got their food would also be a factor and those locations might or might not be a melting pot of different working classes in a population. In my country, I can't be exact too as I still live with my parents so I don't spend money on food so I can't be sure how much is one meal but if we're talking lunch which is when I spend my money, I would say that around 1$ to 3$ is what I spend but the 3$ is big already, that's for when I really want to satisfy what I'm craving during that time or for a long while.

In our society not everyone can eat healthy, you need good money to eat healthy food. there is a lot of adulteration in our society, you will find adulteration in everything we eat and drink. However, you can cook quality food at home or get it from more expensive hotels. Typical dishes cost at least $12 to $15. The menu includes rice, meat, vegetables and sweets. The average monthly income in our country is between $100 and $150, which I think is very low.

On an annualized basis, the average income is between $1200 and $2,000, and it is very difficult to cover all household expenses. There is a huge gap between income and expenses so people spend very wisely and cannot overpay. Now imagine that our monthly income in other countries is higher than our annual income, but all of this is due to our governments and our poor policies that are causing the economy to collapse day by day and the value of our currency to depreciate against the dollar, thus further reducing our monthly and annual income .

Cost of living is different in almost every country because there are several classes of people living in a country: rich, middle class, lower middle class, poor, very poor. Their level is different as is their cost of living. Government issued calculation of average income can be presented here but it is different in reality. If you talk about the price of food, there are different types of rice, for example, the price of 1 kg of rice is $0.50 to $1.20. In all cases certain classes of people buy according to their income. There are variations in the food menu, some may be eating rice, pulses. Someone is eating rice, pulses, fish. Someone is eating pulses, fish, meat, eggs. There is also a difference in the monthly income, some have a monthly income of $50, and some have $5000. Which amounts to $600 to $60,000 per year. The cost of living of people in a country varies.

The price of food had skyrocket and getting a job is even more difficult than we expected. We just hope things will get better with time.

It's sad but it is the truth. Recently there was a protest after the inflation and the minimum wage went up to $48. But that's still not enough. I just searched some news and found out that after a new protest 2 days ago the government agreed to increase the minimum wage to $112. It is a recent news, that's why I didn't know about it.

Recently USA has given a sanction for not accepting any kind of clothing from Bangladesh anymore. Majority of foreign money comes from garments factory in Bangladesh. And after this you can imagine how bad the situation is going to be. The value of dollar in here will increase significantly and price of products will also increase with that. So I don't think increasing the minimum wage will have any kind of major effect on people. And yeah, with overpopulation, not everyone is making a minimum wage and most of them can not afford three meals a day. I don't know in which direction this country is going and what the future outcome will be.

I am USA based. All sale prices, but there are a lot of sales.

Eggs are now down to $1.20 a dozen
Fucked up treated milk $3.49  a gallon
Good milk not treated $6.99 for a ½ gallon

Pork loin on sale $1.49 a pound
Pork spareribs on sale $2.49 a pound

Whole Turkey $1.99 a pound many are 20 pounds

Chicken drumstick $1.29 a pound
Chicken thigh $1.29 a pound
Boneless skinless Chicken breast $1.99 a pound

ground beef $2.50 a pound
steaks many cuts 8-20 a pound it varies.

Frozen veg 1.29 for ¾ pound

cheese varies
mozzellara untreated $5 a pound
ricotta untreated $4 for 2 pound container.
cheddar untreated $5 a pound

Note USA uses growth hormones to treat dairy in my opinion it is not healthy I do not buy it. I buy untreated dairy it costs more.

I have looked at this chart countless times and I do not seem to truly the chart compared to my mindset about the States. I have always known or thought that the states is much more expensive to live in. But this chart even seemed that my country Nigeria has even more higher cost of living than US.
In Nigeria you will need about $1.5 to buy a dozen of egg.

If it is so, I will make plans to relocate to US. Can you please tell me the cost of accommodation in the States so that I can do my analysis well.

Quote
As far as I know only the USA does hormones for its dairy. A lot  of the above are 2x the price if you can not find a sale.
Does not actually understand this

Imagine that for only Rp.5000 or $0.30 you can enjoy rice with side dishes to relieve your hunger.

Don't forget, "Nasi Padang" which costs only $0.6, is a food that unites the nation because we can enjoy delicious beef "rendang"  :D

Nasi Padang is almost available throughout Indonesia, regardless of city. Where I live, Nasi Padang is considered a luxury food, for Nasi Padang with chicken side dishes the price is $1.5 per pack, if with rendang the price is around $2.
If you go to Lombok, Indonesia where the Moto GP event is always held here, please try Nasi Kaput. Nasi Kaput is very famous here with prices around $0.3 or Nasi Balap Puyung with side dishes of spicy chicken, soybeans and rice for only $0.6.

Food is very expensive in my region and there are people that can't afford a 3 square mewl just like the way it ought to be. People are really suffering this time and I think it is because of the time that we are. There are country that are in recession right now and there citizens have to hustle more to put food on the table for there family. The price of food had skyrocket and getting a job is even more difficult than we expected. We just hope things will get better with time.
The situation in my country has become very  bad to the extent that the cost of food is no longer affordable with low amount of money. For example a bag of rice was 8000# at a certain time and now a bag of rice is now 55000# the difference in price is just to massive in just a few years. Some food items are no longer a part of our daily meals because of the cost of living lately and the way the prices of food increase rapidly, even a big loaf of bread  that you can get for 200# is now 1000#, i think that people should try and be productive in their own, like learn to develop a skill and be master in it For instance if you know how to bake on your own making pastries won’t be a problem to you and of course you can monetize the idea, also  plant some little vegetables to make life a bit fair, it is know that people who own their own farm don’t get to go through the scarcity of the food currently.

For comparison, may I ask how much a standard meal in your country costs for one meal?
One of the cheapest alternatives cost 2,04$.

what is the standard food menu?
Rice, beans, pasta and a small steak of meat (chicken, pork or beef). Sometimes a portion of salad or another side dish. Everything comes inside a packed lunch made of polystyrene.

What is the average monthly and annual income in your country?
Monthly wage in average is 269,04$, and annual income you can multiply by x12, so it's about 3.228,48$ or 3.497,52$, if there is a 13º wage paid to the employee.

Of course, there are another alternatives of more expensive meals, if you are willing to eat more tasty food and with larger portions of protein and side dishes. Personally, I really like "all you can eat" offers, where you pay a determined sum of money to eat as long as you want and can afford to eat. Japanese food is popular on that category and the price stays around 24,25$ per person. It's really expensive, but so good...

Is the increase in rice prices in line with the increase in monthly salaries or minimum wages in your country? I think this is a significant price increase, from 8000 to 55000, can it be converted to USD?

Food prices are just one part of the cost of living in a country, there are other factors like rent, utilities, transportation and so that should be included when calculating the living expenses for each country. The problem with that is it's going to be only an average number across many different products and cities in a country. People are very different from each other’s, some like to live in the city centre, while others are fine to live in the outskirts of a city. Other people like to go out to a restaurant a few times per week whereas others prefer to cook at home. I can tell you a bit about my country and the food costs here in Germany. If you are looking for the cheapest meal, you can buy frozen or canned food in the supermarket for less than 3 Euros. During a promotion you might even get the food in large quantities for less than 2 Euros. The problem is going to be the taste and it's not really nutritious. Eating it in large quantities over a longer period of time is not healthy. You could also make pasta with tomato sauce for the same price. But if you are looking for fresh products then price is going to rise quickly. I would say on average a decent meal at home cost at least 6 Euros and in the restaurant 10 Euros.

Wow, that's good, I hope there's a budget meal in our country too. Everything is expensive here and every thing that you do comes with expenses and some native products were sold in a higher price due to inflation, it's quite difficult to budget especially if you're a minimum wage earner, all your salary will go to bills and budget, nothing left for savings and personal needs.

Mostly the countries which have high rate in food are not well at the economy,  as I have checked many countries which have lot of varieties of food and they didn't have high price. Which is quite a good thing,  but mostly when the prices are high at a country of aby food then young generation have a lot of problems to face.

Young generation mostly likes the fast food which in turn is very expensive in some countries like it includes the pizza,  thr burger, etc. So this kind of food liked in countries and people love to enjoy it a lot.

A country's economy does not always depend on or be guided by the level of food supplies.
IN my country, it is an agricultural country because it has a large agricultural sector, but the economy is not very good, and many farmers are not even prosperous, so I think it is not a significant benchmark for a country's economic progress.

In my country, fortunately, basic costs or food needs are still relatively stable and worth it for the income of even low-level workers, but they are not yet included in the high class, what I mean is standard food costs for people in the lower half of the economy. .
If they have an income of $300 then they will probably only spend $100 on food, that's a good standard.

Don't the Turkish lira experiencing a bad inflation right now? This could mean that this rate that you're talking about could be much bigger now which is kind of sad for the people that just wants to eat and make an honest living, I can empathize with you in regards to the corruption in agricultural ministry, it's the same thing for my country albeit I can't really say that what we have is much worse since you didn't share any details but in my country, they don't care too much about farmers and a lot of municipalities are trying to create artificial inflation so they can sell their food hoards for a much higher prices and not to mention that the national government doesn't help a lot in terms of subsidies for the farmers so they can afford the necessary stuff for farming like feeds for the cattle, fertilizer for the crops and such and the agricultural department don't want to find a way to make sure that farmers are getting fair price when they sell their services on the market and the consumers end up shouldering the burden of expensive food cost in the country. A decent meal for a day would probably cost you around 10 USD even if it's a home cooked meal.

I see you are from Indonesia, I also come from Indonesia I live in the capital with my monthly income of $230.
My living costs while living in the capital are quite expensive compared to living in the village.
1. Internet costs = $4/month
2. Transport (top up money) = $20/month (train + bus)
3. Food = $1/day (cook yourself) or $30/month
4. Boarding house = $50/month (outdoor bathroom)
5. Unexpected costs = $60/month

A month is never more than $180. There was even a record under $150 when I wanted to save money.

Each country has different cost of living and food prices vary from country to country. And food prices vary somewhat in different districts of a country. For example, the cost of living of a person who lives in the capital of the country is not the same as the cost of living of a person who lives in a city because there are some differences in food production and prices depending on the area. But in my country the price of food products is still quite low compared to other countries but the income of a person in my country is much less than other countries due to which the price of food products seems very high relative to that income.

It seems that the rate of inflation in your country is very low because you can live in the capital of the country at such a low cost. What you spend living in the capital, we spend living in the village. If we start living in the capital of our country Pakistan, we can spend only one week with this amount of money.

Your food costs a dollar a day and if we wanted a dollar we could just eat breakfast. Now think about what our food bill will be in a month. We cannot say that the monthly income is better in your capital city, but it is slightly better than in our country. However, having less expenses than income means that inflation is lower and therefore time can be better spent on income, but more problems can arise where expenses exceeds income.

It all depends on each person's lifestyle. If we live in a capital city with a high lifestyle, then for an income of $230/month, we will never be able to meet our living needs while living in the capital city.
And you are someone who is simple and able to reduce the cost of living, to the lowest level. And we rarely encounter people like this, especially those who live in the capital, most of whom prioritize prestige over function by choosing a high lifestyle.

lucky you that food is relatively cheap in your country the farmers in my own country have gone from creating a solution to people wanting to make money at the cost of whether they can afford it or not, which is not a primary assignment for farmers, and farmers will tell you they also spend money in term of production, so if they are selling their goods, they put too much into consideration, the problem I see is that very few people are going into farming if the number of farmers can increase then food such be sufficient and the price will be very affordable because there is a lot of supply when it is like that it will favor the buyer, let us be encouraged to farm no matter our little noting will waste.

The only thing is that you spend less every month. While I'm on the internet, it's already 32 dollars; for food, it's around 65 dollars; since I have a motorcycle, I spend about 25 dollars on gasoline; and for unexpected costs, it's around 60 dollars; and house rent is 60 dollars per month.

My other billings, such as electricity and water bills, and liability assets that I pay, such as real estate and wages to housekeepers per buwab, are not included.

$65 for food per month is actually a tight budget if you ask me and are you single and all you need to budget is for yourself?
Because if you have a family, this could be a budget that you can't eat everything you want.

$65k per month? Not enough here in the Philippines, the cost of living here in very high as well but then the daily minimum wage is very low. And as Asian countries, our staple food is rice, and now that it also sky rocketed, even onions here was once like more than the price of gasoline because of some malpractice and corruption as there is also a cartel.

So very hard to have that kind of budget here, it's just 2 days budget for my family for food alone. Prices of basic commodities as well is very high like internet, house rent (although I don't pay rent), water and electricity. So everything is f**k up now. If you just rely on your regular 9-5 jobs and doesn't hassle, I don't think that you can survived here or in any other parts of the globe wherein the price of the basic necessities is going up.

Just only $65 mate, you excess that with "k". :)
I think in every Asian country, there's been a solid inflation rate that many can't keep up anymore and that's why every type of survival technique is being done.
That's true about relying on a 9-5 job, it's insufficient these times and that's why we see people having a lot of side hustles, not just 1 but more than 2 for the hardworking folks out there.
But I just want to know from those people in Thailand, because it seems that it's one of the cheapest country that's always been said if the locals will agree to that.

I say one dollar for food because I cook it myself and I'm still a bachelor so I think that's enough for a day. If I buy food outside of course one dollar is only enough for one meal a day.

We also depend on ourselves when it comes to living costs. If we spend a lot, even a large salary is not enough to cover a month's needs. That's why it's important to manage finances so that we are more careful in spending money, regardless of salary, we still save some profit. If you live in the capital, prestige is not enough, so use your money according to your needs, not your desires.

Price of food in my country is very expensive, this is because of lack of production due to lack of production materials and high cost of domestic gas, electricity price hike and costly nature of pms.
The citizens of my country is suffering because of the government deaf war towards things that are suppose to be in surplus so that the citizens and production companies both farmers can have access to it, I know that we are aware that their are mechanized farmers and for this people farming activities to function, they must need either of this aforementioned products, but when the get this products at a higher price that's to say that, they will have to increased the price of their product in other not to be at loss.
The price of food in my country does not have a fixed price because of the regulatory agency lapses, the pricing organization fail to do their job, so individuals can fix any price they want to sail their item without any interference.
If you ask me, I can not categorically sum the cost of this items and give you the exact amount.

When you mention standard food, of course everyone has their own standard level. People who live in rural areas have different standards from people who live in urban areas, as well as people who have a mediocre economic level have different standards from rich people. It is very difficult to get accurate real information because the cost of living in different regions even within the same country varies. So what type of food do you mean by standard? especially since each person's standard level is different.

OK, and you don't need to look for solutions for the public, but at least for ourselves as an option to balance the complex problems that are occurring. That means this discussion is only for consideration to see the conditions and percentages of food prices in each country as a comparison.

The food problem is a fairly sacred condition because it is related to human life and when this sector experiences problems it will have a much more severe impact on inflation and recession. For example, when Covid-19 occurred and food shortages resulted in uncontrolled price increases and this would ultimately affect national economic stability. Because we are in the same country, perhaps the conditions that occurred during Covid-19 can be a reference for how our society can handle it.

Yes.. it depends on the area, but in my area it could be said to be relatively moderate.
However, there are also cheap and expensive ones, actually it's not cheap or expensive, but rather how much we can afford to buy them.
Even though it looks cheap, for those who have money it's possible, while those who can't afford it still say it's expensive.

The point is not expensive or cheap, but how much we can afford it.

For comparison, may I ask how much a standard meal in your country costs for one meal? what is the standard food menu? What is the average monthly and annual income in your country? Please those who answer can use calculations in USD

With $2 you can have a full meal including drinks in my country. This is for one person and for basic food idea. If you go little bit higher like $4 you can get one of the popular meals on my continent drink included. I was referring to soft drinks not any alcohol. If you can cook your meal at home, you can cut this cost in half. I think you already got the impression that the average income isn't that high in our country. For lower-class people the monthly wage is around $150; for middle-class people, it's $250 to $300.

In my country there are 3 parts based on time zones and each has different levels of living costs (the further away from the capital zone, the more expensive the cost of living).
I only take a comparison of fuel prices, say premium types (subsidized prices) as a need to drive business activity. According to the facts, the west zone (capital zone) is the cheapest at $0.64/liter, the central zone is around $2 to $4.5/liter, and the east zone is around $3.5 to $6.4/liter. The average price for 1 portion of food in all regions is usually equivalent to the price of 1 liter of this type of fuel. The average basic salary for employees in all regions is still below $300

Food prices vary in each country; proportion and price. In some countries wherein resources ain’t that of a struggle, marketable goods including food won’t be expensive. Things still have something to do with demand and supply. Since I am on a third world country, food expenses aren’t that high but the proportion of foods differ from one restaurant to another. If I were to compare food serving especially with foreign countries, no doubts that ours would be smaller. The amount we are consuming and spending on a daily basis is a reflection of a country’s economies as well including leaders of the government which are running the regulation and to prevent prices to go up dramatically.

I'm from Bangladesh, and the average income of a person is around 20–25k BDT (estimated 200–250 dollers). Although I have doubts if this number is true, there are a lot of people living below the average income because of the recent economic crisis.

Now if I say the living cost of one person, then below should be enough to get an idea.

1. Food: It's around 3000–4000 BDT (30–40 dollers) for a common person.

2. House: Living expenses can vary from place to place. Where I lived, I used to pay 5000 BDT (50 dollers) a month.

3. Transportation: Again, it varies, but 1200–1500 BDT (12–15 dollars) should be enough.

All the data is based on my own experience. I used to live alone. This number may be higher in other places in Bangladesh. Because in recent months, living costs have skyrocketed. Everything became too expensive. Even the daily goods.

Would really indeed vary on which we know that there are countries which are rich on a certain supply or abundant when it comes to resources on a specific type and there are things which aren't.
Therefore, there would really be some potential importation into those needs which are lacking in exchange to have those export on which supply they are abundant on which the price or value

And with the increasing price of gasoline, that makes it more interesting when the swaying of price in the world crude oil because you don't know when they will increase again or decrease.
$65 for food per month is actually a tight budget if you ask me and are you single and all you need to budget is for yourself?
Because if you have a family, this could be a budget that you can't eat everything you want.
Earlier, my family used to spend about 80 dollars on food, but now the cost has increased to between 150 and 200 rupees. Sometimes the readily available things have to be bought at sky-high prices. Necessary things that we once bought for one dollar, sometimes those things have to be bought for 5 dollars. One of the ingredients in our food chart is eggs, it is better not to talk about these eggs because where earlier you could buy four eggs, now you have to spend the same amount of money to buy one egg. Not just eggs, but every commodity has gone up in price. Those who market will understand how much money it takes to fill the bank and market. The price of each thing seemed new to me, when the traders were told about these things, they excused the cost of transport and fuel.

This isn't much compared to many countries but what sets the price apart from other countries is their transportation and service costs. A rice plate with meat will not be the same price if they are served in two different place where one is a fancy restaurant and the other is a road side hotel.

which are running the regulation and to prevent prices to go up dramatically.

In my country it's the politicians who are making decisions to raise the price and they are also running the government. In this case regulation is useless because there isn't any implementation of the law. The law is for those who are not with the government. A really corrupt country and its officials.

The minimum wage for non-agricultural workers in Metro Manila is approximately 10.89 USD, while for agricultural workers, it is around 10.23 USD. Specific jobs in some areas provide wages that are too low. Despite the difficulty in finding a job nowadays, there are still occupations that only pay around P300-P400, equivalent to 5.36-7.14 USD or even lower. If you dine at a fast food chain, a simple meal would cost you about 150 pesos or approximately 2.68 USD. However, when eating at a small business restaurant called "Karinderya," you can enjoy a dish on top of rice called "ambula" for only around 50 pesos or roughly 0.89 USD. In Metro Manila, many people rent a room for 5,000 pesos per month, which may or may not include electricity and water expenses if it's a condo unit of 18,000-20,000, around 321.94-357.71 USD. Some people share a room and split the rent with a roommate.

If food costs $2-$4 per meal, it will cost $6-12 per day. there, one person will spend $180-$360 per month. If one person costs $180-360, how much can it cost to run a family? Such expenses can be called huge expenses. Now almost all countries have high prices of food products, but in some countries, even though the prices of food products are high, there is a high level of income due to which both income and expenditure are minimised. Compared to other countries, the price of food products in Bangladesh is very low, but the per capita income here is also very low and that's why we think living in our country is very expensive.

Not really. The countries with high levels of income have a high cost of living. Even with a stable job and a good salary offer, people around the world try to find an additional job to come up with the cost of living. Based on your computation, a meal a day for an individual will cost around $12/day and up to $360 a month. It does not end there, there are other expenses and also the rent expense. You won't believe how high is the rent in other countries.

The dynamics of resource allocation and income among nations are difficult but fascinating. On the world market, countries that have certain resources have an edge, especially for export. Their trade and business are affected by this lack or presence. Environmental friendliness and moral sources add another dimension. As people become more concerned about the world, it becomes more important to manage resources well. Shouldn't we be serious about green energy? Solar, wind, and hydroelectric power can help us rely less on natural resources. This move might keep trade in check and stop people from overusing natural resources

You are right that the prices of goods do affect regular people. Lots of people are worried about it, especially in poorer places. What would happen if we put local industry and self-sufficiency first? Helping local businesses and farms grow helps keep prices stable and reduces the effects of changes in the global market. People need to be able to afford basic needs, not just have enough money to buy what they need. We lessen the effects of global market changes and help local economies grow

Maybe some of us are too spoiled and have become so dependent on the solutions provided by the government, that we forget to look for our own solutions when faced with these problems. What I mean is quite simple, when we are faced with the problem of food scarcity, we can try to grow it ourselves in our yard as a small-scale food supply in the short term. Even though the government has a responsibility to ensure its people, when the people themselves do not try to find a solution then waiting for the government is also not enough.

For example, when Covid-19 occurred and if people could use empty land to grow some of their food needs then they could avoid this problem a little and at least their family's needs would be met. The price percentage will be determined by the amount of supply and when goods become scarcer the price will rise, that is why there is a need for ways that can be used by individuals and the government to reduce prices so that they fall back to normal.

Yes, I have a prediction that the world will experience a food crisis in the next few years. I speculate that this will start in Europe. Maybe I will ask the same thing in the next few years to ask the same thing and how prices have changed or are still stable

This is a good policy when food in the country is unstable and experiencing shortages and usually cooperation regarding imports has taken place before the shortage occurs. However, imports and exports often experience problems when the government is not serious about handling them, especially if these two things are done when the price of goods is increasing due to shortages. Government policy can influence food scarcity to become more stable and if the concept is import and export, perhaps the consideration must be carried out carefully and with full consideration, so as not to cause problems in the future when prices return to normal.

This information is lacking some protein and I will like to add some to it.

When there is high cost in buying food from a particular region, it's not because there economy is bad, it could be because the standard way of living there is expensive. In Nigeria here, there are state where you can eat comfortably with $5 which you are going to enjoy so much but when you take such amount to slme places like Lagos and Abuja, you might be able to use it to buy yoghurt and a bottle of water. Even there are places that you hardly see real price been sold there because everyone are cheating each other trying to make a living through extortion, don't even try to rent houses in such kind of environment, it will be deadly.

People like fast food not because they hate naturally cooked meal, it's because they don't have the means and cooking it will take a lot of time. Some people don't have enough time to even sleep, it's now cooking meal that is going to be their priority? They will rather go for the one that is pretty fast, edible and face their work than spend half of the day slicing onions, blending pepper and bleaching oil just to make a food that you can get sharply without dropping a sweat.

This is the hard situation in our country, the minimum wage is around $11 while the cost of our staple food which is rice is about $1 per kilo. However, for some markets, it's going down because there is more supply that's coming into the market. But can you imagine that it's just for the rice, you already have 10% of your daily minimum wage. Reduce the cost coming from transportation and we can't just eat with rice alone, there's also the water, the shelter and let alone you're renting because you come from a province and work in the metro. If we're going to look at the whole situation, it's really tough and one source of income isn't enough. Man, I am supporting whoever is in the administration and as much as I don't want to complain but, it seems that the government is all for the show.  :-\

We come from the same country, but because Indonesia has a very large area, there are many price differences there. I come from the most populous island in Indonesia, you probably know that.

In the district where I live, food prices still tend to be cheaper than in urban areas, I live in a rural area. I only need about $0.6 for a plate of rice, vegetables, and chicken. Drinks cost about $0.25 for iced tea

For minimum wages issued by local governments, they set a floor of $155. But in practice most people will earn a monthly salary of around $75 to $250 each month. But the dominant figure is $100. I think it's a small amount but most of us can get food from the garden because many have rice fields and grow rice

@terrific - yes it's a typo  :).

True mate, it's really getting harder in our country, known a lot of people barely surviving in the current situation that we have right now. Remember the onion price? Lol, it also skyrocket because of some manipulation by some groups or cartel.

Now it's rice, our staple food, just imagine that it's more than $1 per kilo. So regardless of who is going to be the sitting President of the Philippines, we will experience this kind of issue. But when they are campaigning, you will hear a lot of promises, oh well they are all broken right now. And then they have the nerve to make a lot of noises of this so called Team Unity.

Anyhow, let's go back on the topic and sorry for the rant. Obviously, our regular jobs is not enough and we need to fine another ways to have another sources of income this day not just in my country as the price of everything is increasing.

It's hard to explain if the calculation is one meal for one person. In my country the average cost of food for a family is around 4-5 USD a day, and a family usually consists of 4-5 people. Regarding monthly income I estimate it to be between 100-150 USD. Compared to other countries monthly income in my country may be relatively low, but the cost of living in my country is much lower than many countries.

Yeah, that's crazy with the onion cartel, and don't forget about the chili as well. All of these can be done actions if the government is serious about terminating all of those who are causing the high prices. Well, about these campaigns and politics, we always get the same promises as what they're trying to say. All of those are promises and maybe a few of them get really kept and made. I understand what you feel mate because we're on the same page and having the same thoughts with all of these circus' that's always played in front of us.

Yeah, one won't be enough so get at least one full time and one part time or any other extra source of income or business. If you're married, it's not enough that only a man should work but if he gets a high paying job, you'll live like a king in here. But also depending on the area.

In Indonesia.

Average income: $200

Cost of living:
1. House rent (including utility bills): $65
2. Transportation: $10-$30
3. Food: $60-$100

All calculations per month, cost of standard meal around $0.64-$1.28 which usually you will get rice, fried chicken, some vegetables and ice tea.

and some in area, there is lower salary than that, lets say people work for small business man, they will pay you about 50-70$ in a month and the worse is no free day in a week, that mean we should work 7day/week.

The price of one portion of food certainly varies depending on the order and the place that provides it. Luxurious place, definitely luxurious prices. But, normally for one lunch at my place, if it's standard, around $2 is complete, 4 healthy, 5 perfect. However, there is also morning rice, the price of which is only $0.3 and this is sought after by everyone.;D ;D.

I even sometimes still ask for food because economic conditions are very minimal. between working hours and income still does not match here. Meanwhile, office work has very high standards. it's the scale where you buy it. I even only spend $3 every day on food. if you are a wealthy person it might cost up to $20 for a day to eat. but I'm sure my country is cheaper compared to several other countries even though the income is not as much as other countries or developed countries.

I had to spend about $10. or it could be $2 to $3 for one meal. This may sound expensive to some people but for me it is quite economical. Usually on Sundays I spend more pampering myself. but my income is not always stable, I even have to save money at certain times.

Wow!
Is it for one person? The meal seems affordable for everyone. But I believe it varies from place to place. Is it the cost in a restaurant or does it cost when someone ready it at home?

I want to share my meal cost in my country. If we cook everything at home, a standard meal costs around $1.5 per person. But if I buy the same food from a standard restaurant, the same meal costs around $3.5-$5. That includes Rice, water, beef, fish and some sauce and salad.

The living cost depends on in which city you are in. It starts from $20 up to $500. Standard houses in the capital city cost around $300.

Yes, that's right, food prices in each region depend on the minimum income of that region. In Indonesia, food prices are quite cheap because the basic price of food ingredients is also cheap. This is because the average income is small. so the ratio between income and expenditure is balanced. I can't imagine what it would be like if the price of food here was the same as in America while the income earned was quite small, it would make it difficult for someone to survive. so everything has been arranged according to its respective measurements. Here, sometimes you can be full with just 10-20 thousand rupiah.

I welcome your saving, good to hear that you can save something even by spending from your earnings. But currently, the savings from the income share for the people of Bangladesh has become very difficult. The price of Bangladeshi food has increased so much that it has gone beyond the reach of the common man. Compared to other countries, the price of daily necessities in Bangladesh is very high. At present the expenditure is much higher than the income of the people of Bangladesh. Food prices in Bangladesh are high compared to other countries due to looting of MP ministers of ruling party and failure of Prime Minister of Bangladesh to break the syndicate of syndicate traders.

In terms of US dollars, the standard price of a meal in my country is around $1.5 for food and $0.5 for drinks, but the price can vary depending on which city you are in, because in our country, each region has different food costs.

While salaries in my country are also different in each city, where I live, the average salary for people here is around $200 / month and it also depends on which company they work for and what position they have.

Do you mean they get 50$-70$ monthly with no free day every week? I just know this, as far as I know I never found this in my area. I think it is too severe, 50$-70$ monthly doesn't deserve for the payment of full week jobs.  :-\

I think there is no standard prices of food or drinks. It is just the average price for common foods or drinks. However, food $1.5 and drinks $0.5 are still quite affordable. But I assume it is not in the big city, it should more expensive for the prices of common foods or drinks in a big city.

Living costs in Türkiye are quite expensive, especially in big cities. Turkey may be the country with the most flammable inflation in the world, even if it is no longer in the top 10. The minimum wage in our country is 450 dollars. Yes, it may not seem bad, but it can be said that it is impossible to cover food and shelter costs with just the minimum wage in big cities. If you live in a big city, at least two people in the household need to work, and as I said, most of them go to basic needs. Someone has written the prices of individual items above, so I will not write them again. It is said that the minimum wage will be increased in the coming months, I think the minimum wage price in dollars may even increase.

Many people have presented here how food prices are from different countries, and after most of the members' posts it seems that everyone is disappointed with the food prices in their country, so it is clear that food shortages and food price hikes are a big problem worldwide. There is enough reason for the increase in the price of food, the business syndicate knows that whether people buy anything else or not they have to buy food because if they don't buy food they can't survive. From this kind of thinking various syndicates increase the price of certain products in every country. As a result of increasing the price of food we may buy less food but we do not stop buying food, this opportunity is exploited by various business syndicates. If everyone was asked the same question three to four years ago, maybe not everyone would have expressed so much dissatisfaction with the cost of their food, but as per the current situation, it is normal for the general public to express dissatisfaction with the cost of food.

Price hike is the main problem of our country. The price of goodies increased day by day but the earnings of people is not increasing. Those people who do government job official job they maintenance family will with their salaries. But those people who live hand to mouth. With the lower income they can't complete the daily needs and the increasing price of the food they can buy that much food then need for living. Because of increasing price of food its creates problem those type of people life who live under the provety lines and the lower income people.

Actually, my country is not doing well, inflation is also happening. Prices of goods are increasing due to fuel increases. I say one dollar for food because I cook it myself and I'm still a bachelor so I think that's enough for a day. If I buy food outside of course one dollar is only enough for one meal a day.

Maybe what your country is doing is not right for you, but if you look at the situation in our country, you will thank your country. The price of everything has gone up in our country due to the increase in the value of the dollar because our country own production is very low and we are consuming most of the goods from other countries.

Our government often exports the things we need to other countries, due to which the things in our own country are in short supply, due to which the prices go up a lot. However, in countries where the administrative affairs are not correct and the people sitting in the government do not think about their people, there are more such problems. Our people also are very disgusted with our government.

In the country where I live, most people live in poverty. In my country the price of all things starting from food is relatively high. A day laborer finds it very difficult to raise money for his family, and most people beg only for want of food. It is not possible to manage a family easily with the salary given by the government, which makes it very difficult for a person to get food. In my country some daily items that are used in cooking and food are very expensive especially those that are used constantly eg.
Rice white --- 1kg --- $1.52 USD
Chicken --- 1kg --- $3.45 USD
Milk --- 1 liter ---- $2.15 USD
Egg --- 12--- $1.70 USD
All in all a lot of expenses which add up to a lot at the end of the month making it very difficult for a family to buy food at such a high price.

Is this in Indonesia as well? I'm quite surprised because here in PH some areas has the same scenario as this. They were called the Labors, those individuals who barely finished their secondary educations, they work for small business man with that same range of salary and a free 1 meal per day (launch meal).
I don't know how these people survived, but they actually do, and they seemed happy and contented with their financial status. So, therefore I conclude that no matter how low your salary is, a person could still find a way how to survive. The same goes with the people who has high salaries, they tend to survive with tons of lons and financial responsibilities.

Both uncooked and cooked food prices are at the highest in Canada. In contrast to the last five years before Covid, 100 CAD is not enough for someone to live on in a month. Governments are doing everything they can to help the less fortunate with many food banks across the country.

for the lowest class, around 2-4$ a day. and that's not for eating at a restaurant, you could say eating at a street food stall,
It's different if eating for one family can reach 10$ a day for 4-6 people, it's more economical, isn't it?
just to eat nothing more

That's true and usually the price table released by the government will be different from events in the field and food prices in an area will definitely vary quite a bit. In my area the price of one pack of rice is not more than $2 and that is luxurious enough for one meal, the standard of food may differ from one person to another and the custom for people who have an average income is the UMP. The price I mentioned above is considered a luxury standard for them to eat because in my area almost the average person who sells one pack of rice is not more than that, except there are some special places that sell wrapped rice above the price I mentioned above

But when we try to buy ingredients and manage the food ourselves at home, the price can increase or decrease depending on the price of basic necessities in the market. The income is probably still in the range of $200k for the average person in the area where I live and it also depends on how they can make money somewhere other than their regular workplace.

In small cities in Nigeria, the average middle class earns an income of roughly $200

Cost of living:
1. House rent (yearly): $400
2. Food (daily/1person) : $10-$15

Right now, the cost of living in Nigeria is very high. The problem is that prices keep going up but salaries remain the same, this has resulted in a huge gap between the rich and the poor. The smart choice will be to move to a smaller and less expensive city.

Hearing about the cost of life and income in Nigeria is fascinating. A monthly salary of roughly $200 in small communities reflects the economic hardships that the middle class faces. The monthly rent of $400 and daily food prices ranging from $10 to $15 show the financial stress that many people face. This look at economic dynamics emphasizes the significance of knowing local variations beyond official data in order to comprehend the true impact on people's lives.

How could a person manage to live a better life there?

I think people will definitely face problems economically and they people there may be without work? What is the situation for the illiteracy there? People who are on works does they have more knowledge or most of them work according to their skills?

As Nigeria is not a big country I assume so it should be a little stable economically but I don't know how they are managing it? As normally I have seen countries which are less in population are mostly economically stable.

The cost of living keep increasing everytime and the case might have been as a result of the current war between Russia and Ukraine and the pandemic that scattered the way we live life. That was the beginning of our problem as human which made many to lose their jobs, businesses and death of relatives. The government is trying her best to make sure that things get better but we just have to keep working and doing businesses that would profit us. We don't really know when this would finally end but it will be beneficial to us if we save and get more jobs that would sustain us.

I live in the Philippines, so you can have a little guess as to how much food and stuff is here compared to the rest of the planet (Spoiler Alert: it's dirt cheap still compared to most countries in the west). You'd get a full course meal in the Philippines, for two people mind you, for as low as 20-30 bucks, and this is on a fancy-shmancy restaurant already. A regular meal here in the Philippines would cost you as high as 10 dollars per day, and that would've been real awesome if not for the fact that the people in here, particularly blue-collar workers, are either paid just enough to get by so they can't leave the deathloop that is their 9-5, or they literally are getting paid peanuts, and with no chance to even get out of this situation they are literally stuck in this circumstance for the rest of their lives. So yeah, it's not rainbows and sunshines.

This case does not only happen in Nigeria but in other countries too, I quote the average cost of renting a normal house is almost 2x higher than the minimum monthly salary of every Asian state, the average economic data of society is getting worse due to inflation and many people have lost their jobs. I think the government should release lots of job vacancies for public services and support micro-enterprise capital to restore the economy, one of which is supporting culinary food mirko businesses for priority foods that can be obtained at low prices.

True, but this choice also has its own obstacles, for example in the item the birth of a social class where there is an image of the local population whose income may be predominantly lower middle class and we also have to look at access to basic services, education, health care if one of our family members experiences health problems and needs immediate treatment.

However, the direction of food production sector in my country is good but the price of food products is constantly increasing which has become abnormal for common people to procure. Not issued by my government but I have researched it and found that in my country the rich people are getting richer and the poor people are getting poorer due to the combination of politics.

I think that does not only happen in your country, I think the average large country is also the third state also experienced it even since the same, including in my country, although sometimes in the same country but there are areas that have much food consistency price.

And actually related to what the OP meant was really relative because indeed everyone could have a standard menu that would be a subjective assumption, and returned to their respective abilities in buying their food needs. From the average I noticed that the middle class community is not certain about what products/food they consume every day, so I think it will be ambiguous because it is not specific. IMO

Here in our country, when there is an increase in the price of goods, it doesn't go up all at once, and if there are other vegetables that increase in price, after a few weeks the price will go down again.

So now, even though it has gone down again, somehow there are still other things that are expensive, like potatoes, tomatoes, and others, but the price of chicken and pork and ease in the market is still the same. Somehow, even gasoline has also gone down a little, even though it is expensive. can still be considered.

The global situation has been unstable in recent times, so it has directly affected every country. Commodity prices have increased manifold but people's incomes have not increased. And because of this inequality, an unstable environment has been created in every country. The situation is the same in all rich or poor countries, but the impact is greater in poor countries, on the other hand, there is no impact in rich countries. Moreover, the price of the product is determined based on the geographical location. The same product has a price difference between a developed country and an underdeveloped country. Even in my own country the prices of all commodities have increased. Governments are taking various measures including raising their salaries in line with the increase in everyone's expenses, but the solution is time-consuming.

Isn't that the case with most of the countries in the world? Except for some of the most developed countries where there is no lack of money, jobs, and resources and the majority of the population is living a good life, besides those countries, the situation is almost the same all around, rich are getting richer because of their control over the businesses and industries and poor are getting poorer because of a lack of good employment opportunities and rising inflation.

When you earn a minimum wage that barely increases but the prices of goods and services keep going up around where you live, you will probably keep getting demoted financially, and there is nothing you can do about that because you are not getting a balance between the costs you have to bear and the salary you are getting.

In small cities in Nigeria, the average middle class earns an income of roughly $200
Cost of living:
1. House rent (yearly): $400
Living cost not too much. It is less than enough. In the city where I live in my country, rent is over $600 a year and in my country's capital it is over $2000. Which is much more than your country. So I think the cost of living in your country is quite comfortable

Quote
2. Food (daily/1person) : $10-$15
My meals here range from $3-$20 per person per day, depending on how high-end one wants to eat. But I think it is a bit more comfortable in my country than yours.

Right now, the cost of living in Nigeria is very high. The problem is that prices keep going up but salaries remain the same, this has resulted in a huge gap between the rich and the poor. The smart choice will be to move to a smaller and less expensive city.
Not only in Nigeria but also here we stay and eat is very high overall. Which is very difficult for a lower and middle class family to manage. And almost the same situation prevails in most of the countries of the world. This is not the only problem of our country

I like your curiosity but what good does it have towards the price of a meal in my country. Like the increase of price of things per month is about 45% if not more than. Certainly, am not trying to exaggerate here, but if i a get a loaf of bread a thousand-naira next month it could be about a thousand and three hundred naira. The cause of the problem does not only go to the government and their implementations. It implies the individual manufacturing industries and local sellers (either retailers or wholesaler). Once they get the information that the price of manufacturing has increased boom, they add their selling price even to old goods. I'll say it is selfishness and greed that has led to less human sympathy and the anxiety to gain double from the consumers.

House rent is very expensive or high in Nigeria; what kind of rent a house is that 400 dollars? Is that a condominium type? or a large townhouse? Here in our country, because of that amount, you can get a rental house. That amount is big and good for renting to own a house.

are there people there in your country don't know how to cook their own dishes? Here among us, other poor people or those who are in ordinary life conditions can survive on 1-2 dollars a day if you are a frugal person.

I can empathize with you in regards to the corruption in agricultural ministry, it's the same thing for my country albeit I can't really say that what we have is much worse since you didn't share any details but in my country, they don't care too much about farmers and a lot of municipalities are trying to create artificial inflation so they can sell their food hoards for a much higher prices and not to mention that the national government doesn't help a lot in terms of subsidies for the farmers so they can afford the necessary stuff for farming like feeds for the cattle, fertilizer for the crops and such and the agricultural department don't want to find a way to make sure that farmers are getting fair price when they sell their services on the market and the consumers end up shouldering the burden of expensive food cost in the country. A decent meal for a day would probably cost you around 10 USD even if it's a home cooked meal.

Exactly, the ministers in Turkiye are deliberately picked from "low profile" candidates (the governing party's own words), so that they are more easily controlled as yes men just following the orders of the president, whose track record is incredibly corrupt as well, the entire country runs on nepotism and tribal instincts for the last 15-20 years...

So they have no clue how to incentivize or organize large scale agricultural production, and farmers often end up selling their crops for dirt cheap,  they face lots of difficulties and bureaucracy in exporting / logistics so they are forced in the end to give it up to middle men and corrupt politicians at ridiculous prices, just to list a few examples...

Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. The Russia-Ukraine war has little or nothing to do with spike in the cost of living in Nigeria. You can’t take the blame away from bad governance. Covid was a global pandemic, every country was affected by the virus. It’s been over a year since Covid and economies around the world are stabilizing. Ours seems to be getting worse by the day.

The increase in goods occurs due to several factors including climate, and in my country vegetables, chilies and other food ingredients have recently experienced a very drastic increase, especially all types of chilies.
And according to reports, this is caused by bad weather because in the country where I live there is a rainy season which occurs every day. And this has an impact on the prices of vegetables, spices and other staple foods, resulting in crop failures and causing prices to rise due to scarcity, and this also causes other prices to become expensive.
And if all goods are stable and there are still some that are still going up or not going down, maybe it's because the materials or goods are still rare or maybe because of other factors that you have to investigate.

The amount of monthly income is probably almost the same as in my country, Indonesia. But I was quite surprised at the cost of living or daily food costs for one person there (Nigeria). Because $200 salary will not be enough even for 1 month. So I thought about how people there could cover these shortcomings. Here in Indonesia it is possible to eat quite well 3 times a day and only spend around $3 USD per day. Or $1USD for 1 serving of complete food (rice, meat, chili sauce and a little vegetables) and 1 glass of free mineral water. Even if we can cook ourselves it can be more economical. I just found out that in Nigeria there is a huge gap between the cost of living and very different salaries. I think this situation could really become serious if it is not resolved immediately. Because continuous inflation could potentially become hyper inflation.

Different countries have different cost. But in India, Srilanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh are almost same cost by food. In poor way, it is 40$/50$ by a month and in rich way 300/500$ by a month. In locality, the rent of home is very low, but in city or high society the rent is very high.

The world is facing shortage in food production just like we have seen in the middle east and India banning the exportation of rice to other countries. Those countries that are less sufficient producing rice or other food on their own can end up having hike in price of food because there is limited supply of food in that region. Food should be a critical aspects the government need to look at to ensure there is high supply chain of food to people living in different communities and environs. We hope the price of food will reduce when the war in Ukraine and other conflict of other regions will stop.

There are places where specific areas have high cost of rent and that varies to the environment of that location. Of course, the better environment the higher cost.
And the same goes to the food. But those countries that you've mentioned are the countries that have cheap cost of food and there is no doubt with that.
Someone can survive that with those amounts but the person can attain to survive the actual environment if he's not in the city?

The economy is in a state that's made survival a do or die affair. How did we get to this point isn't necessarily a compulsory question. But we should rather focus on how we'd get out of here. The earnings of an average man in this country isn't enough to foot his bills let alone a man with a family.
Nigeria economy doesn't affect positively the earnings of its citizens, you spend high  every passing week but still earn the same, ones budget keeps shifting to fit in the earnings, it makes savings difficult and poses dangerous threat to the society. Food on its own is a lot more expensive and the price keeps hiking and never comes down for once and it’s not new that when when the prices of this food goes up they remain there. Also transportation is one factor that once it's up, it stays up and never bends to any positive economic change.

If you prepare food at home that may cost $2-4 but if you order from outside it starts from $3 for junk food and $4 for healthier food. I'd say $5 is average price although there are cheaper options that lower class choose mostly.
Actually you should check out comparisons like Big Mac Index. That will give you a clue about food price differences in countries.

In my region for traditional food in a local hotel it'll cost around $1-$2. The same when spent on a star rated one it'll cost much higher. The same food if prepared in home it'll cost us the same $1-$2 for a family of four. I'm talking about the veggie foood. Non veg food used to be higher in price. The start itself $4 and it goes high depending on the hotel and the location.

These past months, the price of rice increased, and then after a few weeks, it gradually decreased somehow and then increased again, depending on the situation that is happening in the economy here.

Two weeks ago, potatoes and tomatoes were very expensive, but now they have gone down again. The only thing that has increased now is that the value of each egg is expensive. Because other retailers take advantage and cheat, we, as customers or buyers, are helpless. There are no more products whose prices will not increase in the market; the problem will continue.

I think in my country buying food stuff and preparing your own food is more affordable and healthy. When we make our foods ourselves we cut lot of expenses and it it is done to the best, more better than when someone else or stranger's makes it for us. I prefer to make my food myself, since I started doing this I have been able to save up money. Food prices vary by country. Compared to India Pakistan Nepal and Afghanistan the people of Bangladesh can buy food at a relatively low price relative to their income. The quality of food that can be eaten in our country at a low price, to buy that quality food in the developed countries has to spend a lot of money. As a citizen of New York one dish of ordinary food has to be spent a lot of money. The price of food depends on the quality of the country's economy.

Yes. Food prices are rising especially right now rice. In my country, it has increased by nearly 40% in recent months due to rising world demand, along with pests and weather affecting productivity and output of the rice season.

I don't think anyone should rely on such websites or surveys. Most of the time, those are not accurate. In my country, a person can get a good meal for $1.5 in another part of the country. But you must spend $20 in the same country for the same meal. The quality is almost similar. The difference is where you eat it. Also, the cost of making it at home differs a little bit. But not that much.

I have checked a couple of websites because I wanted to migrate to a cheaper country at some point. But when I checked, I noticed the website already giving wrong information about my country's expense rate. What is the guarantee that others' stats are accurate?

Essentially, the government always considers the wages of its citizens versus the cost of living they face. In the US, it is true that food may seem expensive (form our POV), and that's because the average worker's salary in America is relatively high. Many immigrants aspire to work in the US due to the significantly higher wages compared to other countries.

This advantage appears fair in terms of purchasing food, but it may not be fair for international product purchases. For example, people in the US can easily afford an iPhone (as international product) because they have higher wages and more savings than people in countries with lower average incomes. International products seem very affordable in large, prosperous nations, while they appear expensive in poorer countries.

In economically challenged nations, social inequality is starkly apparent. Even extremely wealthy individuals will continue to be rich indefinitely, while the poor will remain poor due to limited opportunities for development... rich man always control the economic. Food prices, when viewed from the perspective of each individual citizens, may appear the same (for local products), but when viewed from the perspective of one citizen, the perception can vary widely.

Anticipation is needed to prevent cases of food poisoning, even though this case does not occur every week or month, vigilance needs to be increased among all family members to maintain their safety. Preparing your own food is more economical than buying fast food at restaurants or other places. Food that is made by yourself is also more hygienic, safe and healthy because it uses ingredients chosen by yourself.
In the area where I live, almost all parents provide their children who go to school with food made at home. They have learned from several cases of food poisoning spread on social media and other electronic media, apart from being able to prevent their children from getting food poisoning, they can also save their monthly budget.
