Title: The happy BTC circular donation thread
Post by: rpietila on August 01, 2014, 09:51:18 PM
I am happy, because I am so blessed with all good things in many spheres of my life.

To share the goodness, I have decided to give away 10,000mBTC.

I am aware that many of these people whom I highly appreciate and want to honor by giving them money, are themselves not needy people. On the other hand, I am not knowledgeable of deserving recipients who would actually make use of the money. Nor is it possible or would feel good to me to organize a general giveaway, doling out money to strangers. The government already does that with miserable results.

So I decided to give this money to 9 of my friends or acclaimed acquaintances, with the following caveat:

"Here is some money out of my good fortune. I know that you are a trustable person and a good steward. Keep what you need if you have needs or projects, or take some to make you happy. The rest, you can allocate to your friends, so that the same rule applies to them, until all the money is kept by somebody, making them most happy."

You want to read more of the vision? Do it here :) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=720940.msg8163667#msg8163667)

Rules (changes/additions in blue):
- You will be listed in the table of Magnanimous Benefactors for the sum you have given to other bitcoiners.

- You will be listed in the table of Happy Recipients for the sum you have kept (including given to any other person or cause).

- Magnanimous Benefactors' table will hopefully be much larger, because same money can be listed there multiple times, but kept only once.

- When you are given money by someone in the chain, you must post to this thread in 1 week, what you want to do with the money. If you keep some of it, please specify how it made/will make you happy, and post your Bitcoin address. If you give some or all of it on to other people, list the nicks and amounts and inform them yourself by PM so that they come to redeem the money on time. If no response happens in 1 week, the money reverts back to the giver (previously: me). Note, you must decide the fate of all of the money at the same time, and post the verdict in 1 week.

- To ensure that this goes on a little longer (after all, it is the first experiment), if you receive 200mBTC or more, you must give at least 50mBTC to at least 2 other people in bitcoinworld, also if you receive 100mBTC or more, you must give at least 50mBTC to at least 1 person; if you are not willing to do this, the whole gift reverts to the giver.

- othe has volunteered to make the Bitcoin payments. Once you decide to keep some of the money, it will promptly and publicly be sent to you.

- You are absolutely free to keep all the money (except the minimum of 50-100mBTC that must be given forward, applies to you if you receive at least 100mBTC) or to pass on all the money. All decisions just have to be made publicly, and your reputation will be reinforced by your magnanimousness. If you think that this scheme is ridiculous, you can also reject having anything to do with the money by saying so (it reverts to the giver, similarly as if you don't reply in a week).

- It is possible to send money back and forth, just that in the end somebody has to keep it and become happy as a result.

- A sum of less than 50mBTC may not be donated, but must be kept. Therefore, if you receive strictly less than 100mBTC, your choice is only to give the whole of it to one person in BCT, or keep it all.

- Please no begging in this thread. Everyone who receives the money is trying hard to find deserving recipients from the people he knows and interacts with. If you are a beggar and have not contributed anything to the forum, and nobody, who has even the chance to receive some of this money at some point, is your friend, then I would exhort to start learning (and making friends). It is free, and makes your life much better in the short and long run.

- All kinds of praise towards fellow bitcoiners absolutely belongs to this thread. This is a happy thread where everyone is happy! :)

This is a welcome initiative to inject some kindness in this world (and I don't say this only because I am one of the prime recipient). So thank you Risto for starting this chain.

(updated after Risto's reply)

What I will do with this money:
  • 600 mBTC: for me, converted in XMR. This may looks like I am a greedy bastard, but this will be used that way:
    • 100 mBTC for myself - I'm considering buying half Monero and half NXT with them, or maybe 1/3 XMR, 1/3 NXT, 1/3 BTC - or maybe full XMR :)
    • 300 mBTC for taking care of family (1/3 to my mother, 1/3 to my sister, 1/3 to my brother). I will keep this part in my wallet until the official GUI wallet is released. Then I will give them their Moneroj, that will be their first steps into cryptocurrencies and hopefully in some years the beginning a better life
    • 200 mBTC to spread the word, i.e. someone I know IRL who doesn't know cryptocurrencies already, that I appreciate and whose quality of life would benefit from it. That will be my concierge, so that he learns about BTC and XMR and, hopefully one day, he won't have to be concierge for a living anymore. Here also, I will keep the money until the official GUI wallet is released.
  • 400 mBTC to thre Cryptolanders that I trust to continue the chain and at the same time would benefit from my help (could not find any)
    • 80 mBTC to superresistant (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=117570), who helped me a lot when I arrived in Cryptoland
    • 80 mBTC to presstab (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=169503), a fine dev withj an ethos and colleague
    • 80 mBTC to Rofo (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=198862), who proved to the world "that premine [can be] good thing. (http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins#noblecoin1)" Truly genuine and dedicated, a humane dev.
    • 80 mBTC to tokyopotato (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=202951), after reading gweedo's micro-donations to several high-leverage projects (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=720940.msg8170656#msg8170656) - tokyopotato handles the Sonoma County Reforestation project in Northern California
    • 80 mBTC to serje (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=165997), who was great servant during the latest retreat. Consider it as a tip :)

(updated after Risto's reply)

What I will do with this money:
  • 0.75 BTC: for me, converted in XMR. This may looks like I am a greedy bastard, but this will be used that way
    • 0.125 BTC for myself
    • 0.325 BTC for taking care of family (1/3 to my mother, 1/3 to my sister, 1/3 to my brother). I will keep this part in my wallet until the official GUI wallet is released. Then I will give them their Moneroj, that will be their first steps into cryptocurrencies and hopefully in some years the beginning a better life
    • 0.25 BTC to a Cryptolander that I trust to continue the chain and at the same time would benefit from my help. I did not choose yet, but I will update the thread before the end of the week and the delivery of my BTC.
  • 0.25 BTC to spread the word, i.e. someone I know IRL who doesn't know cryptocurrencies already, that I appreciate and whose quality of life would benefit from it. Very good, David :)

Can we have the bitcointalk nicks for the 2 other people except you. Otherwise it is difficult to follow what they do with the money.

Hopefully nobody will think me untoward in doing this, but I'm going to pledge my entire 1 BTC to the Monero dev donation address. Is that allowed?

Sure. It will be listed that you kept it all, for the purpose of donating it to Monero. (I have the feeling that I am a greater beneficiary of Monero's success than you, so I should not be entirely sad that the chain did not continue on your part..)

Everybody is free to form an opinion about what is untowardly or not.   :D

Wow.  So unexpected.  You start at the top of the benefactor list for this for certain, Risto.

I have projects hungry for funds, but I like this project of yours, of tipping and fun.  Its like all the good things of Dogecoin but without any of the baggage and using BTC Bitcoin instead.  Love it.

I'd like to have half my award go to Goat, mostly for inspiring the CryptoCrypt.org (https://cryptocrypt.org/) as the successor forum but for so much more that he has done to promote Bitcoin, and the Bitcoin society.  He doesn't need it, but that's not really the point, is it?

The other half to cypherdoc, also doesn't need it, but such a stalwart supporter of Bitcoin, and I just like his sense of humor.  Always thought I'd do something for him if I got the opportunity, and so I have.  That is 500 mBTC for each of you.  Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do.

Thank you for selecting these outstanding community members as the recipients! I thought about both of them but cypher missed the initial recipient list by a close call, and Goat is permanently banned from this forum, which gives practical challenges. Perhaps we can forward his decision from CryptoCrypt and execute it here...

I hope you will enjoy your honorary duty of informing them both that they have become objects of your good fortune with the 1 week time limit  ;)

Actually I decided to count it as a donation from you, as you can see in the OP.

It was yours before giving it to the development. David decided to buy some coin with half of his share. Perhaps that is exactly what Monero needs - lead dev having some more coins  ;D

very cool project.  might as well get a multiplier effect going:

i'm going to pass my 500 mBTC generously given to me by New Liberty (thank you, i am honored!) to the matching Armory Simulfunding Project.  Alan (etotheipi) emailed me the other day asking for a donation and i think this will be perfect.  Plus, it will jog me to install his new 0.92 version so i can get some experience with multi-sig tx's.  from his website:

"To promote our revolutionary new multi-signature interface with simultaneous funding (aka simulfunding), Armory Technologies, Inc. (ATI) is offering to match up to 20 BTC in donations to a list of organizations & charities that promote Bitcoin, open-source, and digital freedoms.  The new simulfunding interface enables us to create and execute a very simple Bitcoin contract:  "if you donate X bitcoins to this organization, we will donate X bitcoins too."   The Bitcoin net"work enforces this agreement, removing the need for the two parties to trust each other.   The latest release of Armory unlocks this feature of the Bitcoin network and we are using it as an opportunity to donate to organizations that we support."

Wow, thanks!   This is a very cool thread, and I'm glad to end up being part of it!

Indeed, that 500 mBTC is going to get 2x value because Armory will match the donation.  You just have to pick where you want the money to go and we can trustlessly simulfund the recipient.  Here is a list donations we're willing to match (https://bitcoinarmory.com/donation-match-list/), and a tutorial for using Armory simulfunding (https://bitcoinarmory.com/donation-matching/) to do it.  (And just for completeness, if you're interested in exploring Armory new decentralized multi-sig "Lockboxes", here's a full tutorial (https://bitcoinarmory.com/about/using-lockboxes/) for that, too)

Since this thread is about giving, I will suggest that others donate to one of those organizations and let Armory double the value of your money (as it leaves your wallet)!  The page linked above includes 5 organizations:

  • Free Software Foundation (FSF)
  • Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF)
  • College Cryptocurrency Network
  • Chamber of Digital Commerce
  • Bitcoin Foundation

We have an extra 2.5 BTC reserved to match donations in excess of what's listed there, or if someone wants to donate to another org that you think we'd support.  For instance, we wanted to have the OpenSSL Foundation on the list, but they wouldn't fetch us a persistent address from their coinbase account.   However, if someone wants to donate to them anyway, I can schedule a time to get a 15-min address and execute the process (it literally takes 2 min).  That goes for any Coinbase- or BitPay-based donation target (wikipedia?).

Double the value of your bitcoins by donating to a an organization that promotes Bitcoin and digital freedom!

I entirely agree with rpietila's point that getting capital into the hands of those who are the most productive is how we create prosperity for mankind. We must grow the size of the pie, not fight over the pie while we shrink it with our myopic zero sum game thinking.

So great minds are thinking the same.

The role of a whale is to direct capital to the most efficient and productive. It becomes more and more difficult to do this as capital grows large, because the whale needs size and can't efficiently chase smaller opportunities. Thus a whale relies on those who can build systems that increase his economy-of-scale in terms of directing his capital to the most productive.

Thus I wholeheartedly accept rpietila's kind offer, as it is being placed into very high productivity-- much higher than a few months ago because recently my health has improved (due to AHCC and a Paleo diet). I still suffer some drag on my time, e.g. family burdens. And often capital can be expended to increase available time, e.g. hire a maid or send some $ for summer camps.

I choose to be in the "happy" category, because I personally can utilize the BTC to make my productivity more efficient as alluded to in my prior post.

1KxTtf1AjoS5hne974YoKjWL6fqcBgJUpE

For example, I recently spent $635 at amazon.com for a 6 month supply of AHCC, which is the herbal cure I am taking to treat my viral infection and concomitant auto-immunity (mice were cured when injected with the virus I apparently have). Before that I was spending $9 per day to source it locally in the Philippines.

I also continue to give to allmany of the needy who ask my assistance and have continued to give out $200+ a month to recipients in the Philippines who ask for my help (hard to refuse people who can't eat or who are in pain with severe hernia or other condition). I have "peso padala" receipts (e.g. Palawan pawnshop, M'Lhuiller pawnshop, Cebuana Huiller, and LBC) documenting my ongoing philanthropy. I do this inspite of watching my capital dwindle, and even my local gold dealer holds $70,000 of my money and after 3 months can't provide me my money!

P.S. Armstrong is predicting (http://armstrongeconomics.com/2014/07/31/ebola-virus-the-next-plague-due-2019/) the ebola virus to spread every where by 2017 - 2018. So there is going to be much suffering that needs to be addressed (ponder the orphaned children, etc). We really need to expand the size of the pie as rapidly as possible. I hope we can offset this with our efforts and see more people in the Happy category. He wrote some time ago about how his computer models were expecting a rise in the epidemic cycle. His models see a confluence of bad cycles rising all at the same time. We are headed into a very difficult period 2016 - 2020 maybe to be difficult until 2024 or 2032.

No, that is sort of the opposite of what is happening.
Its all been given already.
Begging is forbidden in this thread.
What is happening now is that the initial recipients are posting who they are giving it to as a benefactor, or whether they are joining the happy recipients group.
If you didn't get awarded, you could lobby the current recipients outside this thread, but no begging here, its all in the OP.

so if I understand correctly, we write why we think we should get the money and you decide who you're giving it to?

No, that is sort of the opposite of what is happening.
Its all been given already.
Begging is forbidden in this thread.
What is happening now is that the initial recipients are posting who they are giving it to as a benefactor, or whether they are joining the happy recipients group.
If you didn't get awarded, you could lobby the current recipients outside this thread, but no begging here, its all in the OP.

I read the OP but didn't understand it

now I get it, thanks

Hi! Now some have decided to keep some bitcoins, so othe can you provide the address where I can send this 10,000mBTC to? (The payment is outsourced to make it faster and more reliable).

If you could see that the portion I have "rights" to go or allow me to send next week to

20% Seans Outpost
20% BitGive
60%charities to be decided when I am doing digging a ditch (all btc accepting charities)

Accepting thoughts on charities

I feel I have to say this...

Please consider also the intention outlined in the OP: to keep the money that you need, and find a person (/people) to give the rest to, to put him in the similar position, for a happy BTC circular donation.

Trying to find charities, so that the movement of the money would stop right there, is against the idea, and robs many rounds of people the joy of receiving, and the chance of deciding to whom the money should go next.

So please everybody, read the OP again, so that you get the idea :)

I am also going to lobby for this guy. He randomly paid of arklan's loan (which was 0.66BTC) and that is an amazingly kind act on a forum that is normally flooded with scammers. Read about it here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=441074.0).

Really liking this initiative and I like to support it. If I can do anything to help out, just say so.

This post bookmarked for future additions & reference when I can actually afford to donate BTC.

so if I understand correctly, we write why we think we should get the money and you decide who you're giving it to?

No, that is sort of the opposite of what is happening.
Its all been given already.

As far as I know it hasn't all been given. I didn't receive any BTC yet. I did PM rpietila my BTC address as well I posted here in this thread.

I was very rushed when I made my prior comments, so apologize if I didn't hit all the points in my posts. I very much appreciate Risto recognizing my efforts to try to improve crypto-currency. I've tried to balance sharing my ability to analyze feature sets and technical possibilities publicly in order to foster better technical clarity in the community so as to aid progress by all, with retaining some insights privately for the time being. All insights to be revealed if they prove to work in real code, as it is incredibly inefficient to design new technology in public or by consensus (rather you make a proof-of-concept then you reveal it to the world when you are sure it works). Note I am not launching an altcoin is the sense that I won't be attaching my name or reputation to any altcoin.

I appreciate very much Risto's desire to spread the spirit of working together to better both crypto-currency and the world. I applaud the concept of spreading capital around in small morsels, because no one person is omniscient. Maybe that little flea on your shoulder has the idea for the cure to the ebola virus.

Helping people who are temporarily burdened by life issues, is not very costly, yet it potentially pays back 1000-fold especially if spread around. This is one reason I don't give too much charity to just one person, rather I spread it around, because how can I decide who will do the most with it? Life is way too complex for such omniscience, as God so designed it when he said "Go Forth and Multiply". I explained the science or mathematical justification (http://unheresy.com/Information%20Is%20Alive.html#Algorithm_!=_Entropy) of that statement.

Again thank you to Risto and I hope this spirit of goodwill also transfers to all parties involved in our space. I hope I can follow too. In any case, it is not critical that it must transfer/produce/succeed (as that would be a claim of top-down omniscience), rather only that Risto understands and exemplifies the mathematical reason that spreading goodwill is critical. For that, I applaud him greatly.

Kudos brothers. We are both learning as we move through this journey.

I know, I know. The initiative is like what - 36 hours old now. And none of these have been so called "office hours". And it is the holiday season. In everywhere else in Europe, you get 14-30 DAYS (not hours) payment terms, and then it is customary to pay late.

So please do not be anxious if my gift does not come the second you want it, although it is my intention to transfer as soon as possible. To make everything accountable, othe is doing the actual work of sending the money, and he has not even gotten it from me yet.

Btw. If anyone else holds a grudge towards me for my debt that I haven't paid (I don't ever take debt, so I don't have a routine of paying them back either), please list it here.

Would you rather have this:

I am honored.  Thank you.  All of my marginal resources are currently directed to a project outside of crypto, and if it is not out of keeping with the intent, I would direct this gift to that purpose.  Someone of my acquaintance is working at a xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxx in a region of Africa ..........

or this:

Quote
Since this thread is about giving, I will suggest that others donate to one of those organizations and let Armory double the value of your money (as it leaves your wallet)!  The page linked above includes 5 organizations:
  • Free Software Foundation (FSF)
  • Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF)
  • College Cryptocurrency Network
  • Chamber of Digital Commerce
  • Bitcoin Foundation
,

OR first have 5 or more people experience THIS:

Quote
I'm still astounded by your auspicious gesture Risto, you really caught me at a pivotal and challenging point in my life and I feel stronger than ever now. I'm intending to take the next day or two figuring out how to make the most positive impact.

Sirs, wishing all the best peace and love your way,
God bless

AFTER WHICH, you can still have the first and the second!

--//**//--

Money does not extinguish itself. (Money extinguishes debt without generating new debt; thus fiat is not money, but this is just a tangential issue here, because in gift economy there is no debt.) Therefore, to generate happiness by means of money, it does not matter how much money you have, because it is not consumed in the process IF you can make such a process where it is not consumed.

Research shows that money increases happiness in multiple occasions (results are statistical, and as such do not apply in every single case):

EARNING money increases happiness.
SPENDING money increases happiness.
GIVING money increases happiness.
RECEIVING money (impersonally, without connection to your effort or the giver) DOES NOT increase happiness.

It should be very easy to increase happiness, just by sending some money circulating so that people would receive with connection, gaining some happiness, and then give, and spend, and gain more happiness. It would just go on and on.

Mathematically, if in each round, X% of the money is withdrawn from the circulating pool, the total amount gifted until the pool runs dry, is (original amount)/X.

Therefore, when we approach the point that people withdraw only small amounts, like 20%, 10% or 5%, or nothing at all, some magic happens: the original 10btc donated is multiplied to 50 or 100 btc, making much more people happy and empowered than could otherwise be the case. All the money in the pool is spent (happiness * 10btc), but in addition it is given 5-10 times (happiness * 50-100 btc). Furthermore, because a myriad of people have been able to decide (one at a time) concerning the spending, the money will likely be spent in ways with very high marginal utility. Totally unlike if I tried to spend my money in good people or good projects, because I have no way to evaluate them. Or the government, which is much more miserable than I.

But, organized charities suck the money from the people in a similar way as governments. The aims are much better, but the means not much different. It is not an organic way of doing things. You get the joy of giving, that is correct. But there the cycle ends. The recipients of the aid are not any happier (don't blame me saying so, it is research). They don't get to earn, spend, or give. It is spoonfed to them.

Also, as I wrote in the introduction of this post, if you have a pet project that needs funding, please consider that everyone has pet projects: if your judgement is that your project is so important that it deserves all the money, you are wrong. The marginal utility of money is such that someone further down the line, definitely has a pet project that could utilize a part of the money more efficiently than you. If you are such a big honcho that you don't take the time to find people to give a part of the money, why do you even have unfunded needs  ::)

In general, people who say that their project is so important that its marginal utility and internal rate of return is higher than anyone else's, are wrong. If they even understood what they are talking about, they would have become rich beyond imagination by investing in their own project long ago.

And after it emerges to the people who have been blessed beyond their needs in their business or investments that, instead of withdrawing from the pool, they can donate some more to it, then we have a perpetuum mobile: The pool never runs dry, there is complete accountability with who gives and takes money and for what purpose, and nothing is ever decided by a community vote or any political and corruptible method.

- If you are a wealthy and magnanimous guy, this method gives you praise and adoration (unlike the current tax system which extracts the money out of you at gunpoint, and treats you as a criminal).

- The people in the middle, the ones connected in the society, are empowered much beyond any previous system. Large sums move through your hands and you get to allocate them to your needs if you suddenly have any, projects that need to be forwarded, and less fortunate people whom you personally know are good and honest. Since the middle class historically pays the most taxes, it is possible that these people will also want to be net contributors.

- The poor guys learn the magic of money: the more you let go, the more it comes to you. If you are an all-sucking mouth that keeps all the money that others put in, you realize that soon they will not want to feed you so much. If instead, you keep the necessary minimum to yourself, and give the rest to those even worse off, soon you will not only receive more money, but also need less of it, and actually both you and your friends will soon not be poor at all.

I have been shrewd but not stingy. I have walked instead of bought a discounted bus ticket to save $1-2. But also several times donated 5-10% of my entire net worth to charities, including last year. I have been there, all the way.

This text is long, and there is no TL;DR because the concepts presented are so new, and even understanding what I am after, will require reading it again and again (for most).

--//**//--

This one is just the first one. And we learn what works and what doesn't. I will amend some terms in the OP now. Since no money has yet been sent, it is still possible to change your previous decision, unless the recipient person has already taken the money. Changes:
- Donations to people outside bitcoinworld are counted as your personal spending. The reason is that they are dead ends, and we cannot enforce them to report here how happy they are, and also they cannot give the money on, even if they don't need it.
- Donations to charities or any nonpersonal entities are personal spending.
- All personal spending (incl giving to Mum, or Monero development, or going to beer with friends and telling them how great Bitcoin is) should be documented with reasonable precision, such as David is showing upthread.
- If you have received 200mBTC or more, you must give to at least 2 different BCT members, other than yourself, at least 50mBTC each
- If you have received 100mBTC or more, you must give to at least 1 BCT member, other than yourself, at least 50mBTC
- Every gift has to be at least 50mBTC

It is OK to reject the gift, but if you spend it carelessly, then I will not give you more later, and hopefully the others don't, either.

Since I was busy and did not read full premise I have deleted my above post, sorry Risto for not following rules.  And with some free time and reading this is a great concept.

I give 0.25 to joesmoe and 0.25 to Gweedo because of the work they do at CC and the fact that if they donate to others they know more people supporting and building more to BTC than I do, and thus would hit more worthy individuals.

I would like to reiterate this point. Even though many in this thread give money to others, they only give to people that they know beforehand. Instead of begging to receive money from strangers, you should learn, contribute, and make friends.

Risto's gift has been making it very difficult for me to put into words the thoughts I want to convey. At the same time I feel wonderment, I feel blessed and empowered, but above all, I feel happy, and I've felt this way ever since one of my best friends texted me last Friday to share the news about this and from all the positivity that has been radiated since.

I just want to share a few thoughts, thoughts that have stuck with me from Life:

Pastor Jose, a great man who helped rebuild the 9th Ward in New Orleans, remarked to us during a magical lunch when he invited my friends and I into his home one day we were passing through the city:
The purpose of life is to leave it better for the next time we come around.

And I shall with all of you here. Do you realize how special we are to be alive, to be here where we are now, to know what we know? We're lucky! But we're not just lucky, resultantly, we're imbued with meaning and purpose as well; we dance, we laugh, we cry, we suffer, we learn, we die, but, we live, and we're in this together and we owe to ourselves to help and love each other. So be nice, have fun, follow your dreams, for our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.

To Risto, thank you sir, you are a true gentleman of the ages. And thank you friends, everyone, for being a part of this journey homeward. This is a hell of a good universe—I'm honored to evolve through it with you all :)

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”

Of course! It's just taking me a bit of considered time since forgoing my first plan, and so, I like taking my time whenever possible :)

I would like to honor a couple other great Aquarians who made a most positive impact on me with my time here in this community:

RyNinDaClem, because I really do appreciate all the time you take out to educate me with anything you know, as well as anyone else willing, just because of your sheer enjoyment of doing so. For being who you are, please receive 200mBTC well!

Otoh, because you saved me at one point a couple years back when I was much younger, financially amidst all the Securities and Lending schemes taking place, and soon after, spiritually, through showing me another side of life. Please receive 100mBTC, for being who you are. The 100mBTC is not because I value you any less, my friend, but because I've already gifted you in the past and it's more of a public token and acclaim for my appreciation and spreading good will and energies than anything.  :)

Sirs, not only have you personally helped me, but from what I can tell, you are paragons for everyone around. We're especially in a unique position at this cusp in time—and we lead the future by living our lives through example and getting what we want to see. The force of God lives all around us and as such, through us. I like to think we have what we have—whether faith in the face of doubt, wisdom and tolerance amidst the darkness and ignorance, wealth amidst poverty, and whatever, Love from hate—it is only so that we show the way by "passing it on". With the remaining 700mBTC, my intentions are to sow some seeds for universal love and peace, tending them so that we soon fruit more seeds (I'll be sharing those later on  ;))

Appreciate it guys!

Much love,

First, Risto, thank you for this.  We are very honored to be selected by you to help change the world positively.

BitChick and I would like to encourage three people who, despite buying bitcoin this year have been positive, encouraging and trying to learn about bitcoin without getting discouraged.  While it takes projects and software and investments and infrastructure to make bitcoin grow, it also takes positive people who believe in it and persevere despite some long setbacks.  If everyone gave up, bitcoin would fail.

Also, two of the three are women, and BitChick wants to support women in bitcoin.

So, we would like to give the following:

100mBTC - JulieFig
100mBTC - pinksheep
100mBTC - frienemy

Also, BitChick is going to India in November to work with Harvest India (http://www.harvestindia.org/), a group that works with the outcasts (Dalits) in Tenali, India.  These are people who have been told that they are garbage by society, that they don't deserve anything because they were born here.  This is even more true of the women in this male-dominated society.

BitChick will be speaking at a women's conference that is the first time many of these women will even leave their own village.  For $30 a person (the cost for transportation to the conference and for food for a week), she will be telling them that they have value because they are made in the image of God.  They are hoping to raise enough money for 500 women, so this donation will help many women change their self worth and by doing so the lives of others around them.

We have told the founder of Harvest India about bitcoin and he was very excited to see how it could help them get more donations to the people instead of getting tied up in fees.  Since they are the first to build wells, offer medical support, build a university, etc., in this area, I wouldn't be surprised if they are the first to use bitcoin as well.

So, we would use 700mBTC to help change women's lives in India.

One of the gems of this forum.
The opportunities for gratitude is often overlooked.
With this, we were given a chance to say a meaningful THANK YOU to those that have make great leaps and small steps toward increasing individual freedom.
So a double THANK YOU to Rpietila for spreading the chance to offer thanks.
There are so many who have done so much that goes unrecognized.  Providing some recognition is good for you too.
Its been said that money can't buy happiness, but there is a way that it can do so.

Some studies show that giving is the best bargain for happiness with money:

Thank you Risto for your help with my upcoming India trip (and BitchicksHusband for supporting me in this.  If this happened to be June when this "donation" was given the thing that would have made him "most happy" may have been buying LA Kings Stanley Cup hockey tickets instead. ;) )

And it is fun to "pay it forward" too. :)

While tempting (Go Kings!), I would never use such a benevolent gift for such an ignoble purpose.

Thanks again, Risto, for doing your part to make the world a better place for everyone.

Whaaaaaat? This is a happy thread, and if ever somebody decides to gift some back to me, surely I will first think of something small that makes me more happy materially (and only if there is nothing that could do it, then distribute the whole of it) ;D

I have received 1 bitcoin, 1'000 mBTC.

Dear Risto Pietilä

Thank you for your generous gift.

I am not currently in a situation where I need donations so I would like to pass my donation on. But I need a day or two to think about whom to donate to. I have one or two names in mind but I would like to make sure that I donate to the right people.

First, thank-you Risto for such a neat little initiative. I hope this ends up being picked up by some of the more notable (and reputable) blogs so that there is some good (non-merchant) publicity drummed up about Bitcoin. It would be nice for Joe Public to realise that there are actually some nice and sane people who use the currency.

I seem to have been fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the lucky recipients (I received a lovely PM from the uberbull and eternal optimist BitChick who has very kindly offered to pass along 100mBTC).

If it does not violate any rules, I would like to pass the full 100mBTC along to my husband, for the following reason:

As BitChick said, I jumped on the btc-bandwagon in December just after the ATH with a not-so-insubstantial (for me) investment of $10,000. I confess I had not done nearly enough research prior to this, and it was definitely a 'panic buy'. I then spent the next couple of months carefully reading about Bitcoin, learning the underlying fundamentals etc., and this became my solace during this so very long bear market. (It certainly isn't easy to watch the price plummet, and keep plummeting and yet still remain optimistic... unless your name is BitChick!  :))

After putting together some of my 'analyses', I went to the husband to see if he would agree to redraw on the homeloan and inject another $10,000 (this was around a month ago). He finally agreed, and now we have at least dollar-cost-averaged to some extent (our break-even point is still unfortunately around $750).

However, the little analysis I showed him had us on track for that July/August bubble, but Bitcoin appears to have skipped that bubble in the cycle. Needless to say, I am not in his good books! In his mind, we have lost the full amount, and is certainly not Bitcoin's biggest fan, to say the least. I want to do something to fix that... He doesn't even have a wallet, so I thought I would download one for him and show him just how ridiculously easy it is to transfer btc. I'll also show him this thread so that he can see the little story behind the 100mBTC.

Thank-you again Risto and BitChick for your kindness.

First of all, I bow to Risto for starting such a nice idea and I bow to Bitchick and Bitchickshusband who are willing to pass me on 100mBTC. It does not happen too often to me that something good happens completely out of nowhere, therefore I felt quite puzzled when I read Bitchick's message :)

I don't know many people on this forum, but still I'd like to pass on

--> 50mBTC to GameKyuubi

for the invention of the most important word in Bitcoin history: "HODLING"

The remaining 50mBTC I'm going to split up for 2 purposes:

- I am going to donate 25mBTC to BUND (Friends of the Earth Germany) because a healthy planet makes all of us happy

- I'm trying to establish regular Bitcoin meetings in my home town in Bavaria (150.000 inhabitants), where Bitcoin is widely unknown. For a long time I searched for people for such a meeting and it seems that in about 2 months it's about time for the first meeting in a bar. We're going to try to convince a bar or pub to accept Bitcoin and as soon as this is accomplished thee remaining 25mBTC will be spent for the group to celebrate that. It's not much, but there won't be very many people joining right now. And I'm pretty sure that it will last quite a while for the first location in town to accept Bitcoin, so maybe in 1 year 25mBTC suffice for a major party :D

Thank you!

EDIT:
I'm reading through the whole thread right now. Risto, you stated that you don't want people to donate to charities. I'm sure I can find a different use for the 25mBTC which I planned to donate. Let me know whether I harmed your rules and I will consider a different option :)

I said I don't like the people in the beginning of the food chain to donate all to charities, just because they are lazy and conditioned to believe that "it is the right thing to do".

Because if they did, the money would never reach people like you, who can use small amounts so cleverly and really make a difference, make many people happy and provide an example to be listed in this thread as well! :)

I think we are proceeding fine now! :)

Thank you very much to Bitchick & BitchicksHusband for donating 0.1 BTC to me. This makes me happy at the minute because I have just had to accept a massive pay cut & indeed I may have no job at all in the near future. I'm hoping that this gift will one day grow to be worth as much as I am losing in pay (that's not impossible :) ).

I would like to give 0.05 BTC to bitcoinsrus because he/she took the time to write to me when I first joined the forum & gave me valuable advice.

My BTC address is 16i74PcjZDVyiNFXdCF3CQViYpokWWj8Xz

Much love,

Many thanks and much appreciated, I'm traveling atm and unfortunately don't have the time to delve in to this fascinating project, any donations that I receive I automatically send to a charity fund that I set up for a friend's kid who lost her dad, details on it can be found on my site linked from www.otoh.net

If I need to send half to two people instead then I would, in haste, choose first Goat as PM-ing with him helped me elect to get in to LTC quite early on which has changed my financial life for the better more than anything up until now, I wish that I had more time to think about this and read it all, I will in a few weeks or so, for now my second choice would be Risto for all his giving back initiatives.

I'm not sure how the receiving of funds and allocating/resending works exactly, I guess that 100 mBTC is 0.1 BTC and I'll happily double this amount for my donations, sending 0.2 BTC to my charity or 0.1 BTC to it and then 0.05 BTC to Goat and 0.05 BTC to Risto.

Apologies I don't have time to read all what has been written since the last time I posted in thread.

Thank you so much Risto for that gift and appreciation. Actually I got hit with a few charity situations I could not ignore since your offer was made, so several $100s of that is be sent to locals who have medical emergencies. Relieving immediate suffering has become one of my #1 priorities after suffering 3 days of excruciating pain from an acute (erupted, fully bleeding) peptic ulcer in May 2012, which I had to endure without pain killers. This feels like burning your skin in a flame for  days straight. I literally had to count the seconds 1, 2, 3, ... 10, and start over again. After that, I knew what hell feels like and I realized what the Bible means about ignoring people who are suffering because we can't feel the pain they feel. So when I got a request from someone who is suffering that same emergency, I will pay some of the hospital bill.

Apologies for my hasty communications, the reason being that I am highly stressed out and I wanted to terminate my forum presence asap, so wanted closure so I didn't need to remember to keep checking back. Then I realized it was Sunday (see i am so overworked I don't even know what day it is or if it is day or night outside, I literally didn't take a bath for 2 months, no time).

I logged back in today, because I wanted to make a post in your Altcoin thread about the Ethereum IPO which is approaching $15 million. Amazing to see so much capital going that direction.

Again thank you and I think happiness (and productivity, i.e. sick people aren't productive) has been maximized from the funds given.

I suppose you are demonstrating the Butterfly Effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect), and the power that we have on the universe (for good or evil).

I think the latter outcome is more according to the rules (one forum recipient would have sufficed).

As for me, I had sworn to myself that if I receive back, it will be used for cigars (where else do these wonderful ideas come from...?  :D) but then I realized that Carlton Banks is a good solid guy and a voice of reason. So he will receive the 50mBTC that Otoh graciously gave me.

I'd gladly forward it all back to you, for all you taught me about the subtleties of trading. You share your wisdom freely, as long as the receiving end tries to learn and does his homework. Thanks buddy, for all the in depth discussions and most of all, the friendship.

  • And the other 50% to Onefixt (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1873) who got me into trading in the first place and has ever since taken the time to answer my questions, giving me the most interesting answers to even my dumbest inquiries. I'm gratefull for your firendship !

Hey Thanks Othe, that's very kind!  We just demonstrated our terminal to the chancellor of the exchequer here in the UK and the govt just made a load of announcements about bitcoin and moving things forward in the UK, so hopefully we can repay the community kindness by getting our terminals out to as many merchants as possible so you guys can use BTC on a day to day basis.  Risto, if you would like one for the hotel then please let me know! 1LfLuR9EpGviKBhBPNe2h28VwiDscxcnCB is my address.

If i forgot to send someone btc please leave me a note.

For myself i would like to donate 925 mBTC to Aleks N. (aleks648) to help him fund his Bitcoin related startup Xbterminal (xbterminal.io), it allows local shops/bars/restaurants to easily accept Bitcoins via NFC, i think all of us will profit if we can use Bitcoin in our daily life easier.

The remaining 75 mBTC i would like to donate to webbsy a talented graphic artist, may he buy beer and cigarets the next time i annoy him, which is prolly after he has read this.

I'll be passing on 50mBTC to bengtåke and boristhespider for all the hard work earlier this year on VTC.

Thanks, aleks. I'll try to figure out what do with them.

Wow! So much money has been gifted and people made happy! :) This makes me also happy. Sorry I haven't had the opportunity to update the table in the OP yet, since yesterday we started the Summer Retreat in Malla and the first day closed at about 11 am when people began to go to sleep after waiting for breakfast in vain for 2 hours (it was promised at 9 am but there were issues...)

I would like to help Frozenlock to deal with the losses caused by the MtGox debacle. He is amongst my dearest Bitcoiner friends, and I would like him to receive 100mBTC to help ease his pain. Take it! You deserve it, bud! :)

Thank you very much RyN!

I'll use it wisely to rebuild my financial empire!  ;)

Thanks rp, it's good to receive the recognition more than any amount of money. It might not seem like I'm always around on the forum, as I try to limit my posting to my best original observations. I hope this means I'm choosing my moments well, seeing as you remembered someone who mostly lurks! And thanks also for drawing my attention to the thread, it's a great concept (and what a contrast it is to that which often appears on the forum). I will gladly accept the gift.

I'm going to draw up a list of people to continue the philanthropy, just trying to think of some overlooked recipients (there's no point giving to obvious people like the core development guys, they're probably at a level of bitcoin holdings where they'd only appreciate favors that money can't buy). There are a few forum handles making their way to the front of my mind, as soon as I've remembered a few I will post them + amounts here.

I will also donate to the QubesOS project (https://qubes-os.org/), as they are making great progress in the field of computing security, and deserve some recognition, promotion, and not least, some funding. I strongly recommend using QubesOS for your online computing, in particular for secure use of bitcoin wallet software.

Edit: to stick to the true spirit of this thread, I'm donating to Qubes using the Armory donation matching scheme.

I have decided to pass my 1 btc that Risto Pietilä gave me on to the community. I would also like to throw in a little bit myself.

I would like to donate 500 mBTC to Andres Moreno, "Pruden" on this forum, who is running Sirius Iberia together with me, a Spanish Bitcoin broker service. He is one of the most honest and structured persons I know and I look forward to cooperating with him. I would also like to donate 500 mBTC to Vedran Kajic from Croatia, "bSpend" on this forum, whom I met in Copenhagen. He lived here for two weeks where he tried to survive on bitcoins only (http://crobitcoin.com/author/vidreven/). He is working on a project of revolutionizing the bitcoin broker business in Croatia and I have made some contacts for him facilitating this (I can't tell yet, it is still a secret). I would like to support a growing Bitcoin interest in Croatia. Vedran also runs bSpend (http://www.bspend.com/market) which is a bitcoin market place.

Last but not least, I would like to donate some bitcoins to the person that has given me the most contacts, given me a lot of awesome experience, and has presented me to a lot of economic and monetary theory. That guy is Risto Pietilä. Without him, I would never have met Andrés Moreno, Jeremias Kangas, Michael Dupree, Otto de Voogd and many others. Therefore I would like to donate 1 bitcoin to Risto Pietilä.

BTC address: 1w8aCciZ6md67VpUMVfXKqrzZzjAyPAcA

Well I only got 80mBTC but I will keep 40mBTC to get monero and with the rest I will divide it equally between all the people who posted on my locked thread and wished me a happy birthday!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482813.0;all

All the people who wished me a happy birthday will receive an equal amount!
Also they must have their BTC address in their signature OR profile!

Thanks again for giving me the honor of beeing part of something this big!

I counted them and there are only 5 valid ones as for the 6th I don't know what it is :)
so 40mBTC will be split equally between them

Thank you Risto for coming up with this great idea, and Sword Smith for the generous donation, I really appreciate it. Here is how I'd like to split up my 500 mBTC:

100 mBTC to Manfred Macx who is doing a great job helping to run http://crobitcoin.com Bitcoin news portal
50 mBTC to stick as I often use http://coinmap.org/
350 mBTC I'd like sent to myself ( 1B2VW51LweF2f74xo4bqvnGCdcByLCtX5i ) that I'll distribute accordingly: 200 mBTC will go to Klemo Vladimir (not registered on this forum), Bspend developer who himself doesn't have any bitcoins yet! 50 mBTC I'll give to Ivan Simurina (also not on the forum) who is helping promote Bitcoin in Croatia. 100 mBTC I'll use to pay a part of monthly http://www.bspend.com hosting

I would like to donate 200 mBTC to joesmoe2012 for the inspiring entrepeneurship he and others like him practice all over the world. 50 mBTC go back to Thorkil (Sword Smith) as token recognition to his unwaveringly sympathetic, honest and encouraging character, helping start businesses all over Europe as I speak.

The rest, 250 mBTC, I shall keep (1PWXzXgGPHKaiZcM2hZKgBkJz1LBVx6rCV) to help promote Sirius Iberia, whose effects should revert to the Bitcoin world as the first professional Bitcoin brokering firm in Spain.

I am leaving today for India!  Thank you so much Risto for your contribution towards this trip! I will pray your generous gift will be rewarded 100X!  We will be there 13 days and we are installing 7 water well throughout parts of Andrah Pradesh, hosting a medical camp and providing food clothing for a colony of people suffering from leprosy, and hosting a large women's conference for 500 women.  I am singing a song for them in Telugu called Sada Kalamuu Neto Nenu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f889BequyzQ. I will also be speaking a bit there too.  I am even going to tell the founder of Harvest India to check out Unocoin and look into taking some Bitcoin donations.

See you in a couple weeks!   :)

Just got back from India!  The trip was everything I had hoped it would be and more. The women's conference we hosted was so well received that by the third night we had about 1000 women in attendance and they were so touched by us doing that for them.  We also hosted a medical camp with food distribution for 350 lepers.  So hard to believe that leprosy is still a problem in some parts of the world.  We put in water wells, two at elementary schools and the others at little village churches.  We visited orphanages, a home for women bought out of the sex trade, and elderly homes. Everywhere we went we were treated like celebrities there.  I guess it is unusual for blond women to walk around there.  Just smiling and shaking their hands or giving the women a hug made some of them tear up.   It was so humbling.  There is still plenty of needs there.  This particular organization is really growing and working on building more colleges to provide education and a chance for a better life for the children in that area.  If anyone is interested in donating I highly recommend going to www.harvestindia.org and checking it out.  They do not waste any funds from what I observed and the money received really impacts people that desperately need it. It really is shocking the standard of living there compared to what we have in the United States.  Something as simple as a clean public restroom is not even available even in the cities.  I foolishly thought that there would at least be Mcdonalds sprinkled throughout the cities we were in.  In Hyderabad I did see a few, but not in Vijiwada or Tenali.

What was interesting is that everyone appears to have cell phones.  Many vendors do not take credit cards and Bitcoin could be a huge help to the people in these villages if they were introduced to it.  It will be interesting to go back there in a few years and see if things have changed in payments there from what it is now.

rpietila will have to update the OP here with this magnanimity!

There's been a recent kerfuffle that there aren't enough women in Bitcoin.  I'd suggest the broader issue that there aren't enough people in Bitcoin... but that aside, one simple thing would be to put more bitcoin in the wallets/purses of... women in bitcoin, and so,

To make it even more fun, here are the twitter addresses so that you can use @changtip to send it which might further popularize this great idea of circular donations to even more folks.

So we can start with Victoria Van Eyk of @changetip and a few others I know and see where it goes from there:

50mXBT @victoriavaneyk
50mXBT @AnnaKNonE
50mXBT @BitcoinBelle
50mXBT @GiaJordan
50mXBT @mklords
50mXBT @ioptio
50mXBT @SkyCorridors
50mXBT @pinguino
50mXBT @queentatiana
50mXBT @bitcoinmama
50mXBT @julia_vaingurt
50mXBT @PerianneDC
50mXBT @BraveTheWorld
50mXBT @coin_artist
50mXBT @kymmer7691
50mXBT @conniegallippi
50mXBT @paigefreeman
50mXBT @haydentiff
50mXBT @Catheryne_N
50mXBT @rhian_is

Many of these women are involved with charities and all are good causes.  There are a LOT I've left out, but it is already getting to be so so many that it gets diluted to the point of not being so meaningful anyway.

Thank you Vocain, for letting me participate in this great initiative. Congrats to Rpietila for the initial idea.

I live in an earthquake country. When I was a teenager I witnessed a huge earthquake in my hometown that killed 30 people (some of them my friends). The worst part was that people were desperate and had no access to 1st need things even a week after the earthquake.

I've decided to donate to the victims of the Earthquake my whole BTC (plus some mBTCs of my own). If anyone can help me find the best way these mBTCs find their cause, please post their donate address and I will redirect the amount to them.

Cheers and happy Labor day to everyone.

I personally don't need any proof of concept. Money (in any form) doesn't make people happy. People make people happy with their good deeds. If I had more into that wallet, I'd donated more. Do your best. :)

I choose you five:
Macsga
Rpietila
NewLiberty
Its About Sharing
Otoh

1BTC each (for now), should you choose to accept the responsibility.

rpietila will have to update the OP here with this magnanimity!

There's been a recent kerfuffle that there aren't enough women in Bitcoin.  I'd suggest the broader issue that there aren't enough people in Bitcoin... but that aside, one simple thing would be to put more bitcoin in the wallets/purses of... women in bitcoin, and so,

To make it even more fun, here are the twitter addresses so that you can use @changtip to send it which might further popularize this great idea of circular donations to even more folks.

So we can start with Victoria Van Eyk of @changetip and a few others I know and see where it goes from there:

50mXBT @victoriavaneyk
50mXBT @AnnaKNonE
50mXBT @BitcoinBelle
50mXBT @GiaJordan
50mXBT @mklords
50mXBT @ioptio
50mXBT @SkyCorridors
50mXBT @pinguino
50mXBT @queentatiana
50mXBT @bitcoinmama
50mXBT @julia_vaingurt
50mXBT @PerianneDC
50mXBT @BraveTheWorld
50mXBT @coin_artist
50mXBT @kymmer7691
50mXBT @conniegallippi
50mXBT @paigefreeman
50mXBT @haydentiff
50mXBT @Catheryne_N
50mXBT @rhian_is

Many of these women are involved with charities and all are good causes.  There are a LOT I've left out, but it is already getting to be so so many that it gets diluted to the point of not being so meaningful anyway.

done, thank you for introducing to me ChangeTip too--took me some Time but great service!

Hey, I'm seconding what Tiffany just said. I rarely post here but lurk quite a lot - I'm @rhian_is on the list. This thread is awesome!

Thanks so much for the tip... I'm not a good cause like so many of the others you listed, just a developer with a crypto application ;-) so I changetipped it on to Nepal.

Tipping makes everyone happy :)

I'm not sure that I can even buy you a beer with this BTC0.0084 (=$1,9488 does this even buy a beer where you live ?) but I can offer you one if you 'll ever manage to get yourself in Greece. I don't need any money back, you can keep it for the hassle I've put you into doing all this. Thank you for your service and for the chance you, vocain and Rpietila gave me to do some good.

Take care. :)

The treatment of leukemia and cancer is an extremely expensive and tedious path- it exhausts even the wealthiest. We plan to prove with the complimentary treatment and education services we provide, that money is not a priority and that humanity has not failed.

We believe that sensitive, benevolent people and companies as well, will support the ideal and do their share by contributing financially or in-kind gifts to turn this unique masterpiece into a reality.

Are you donation Leukemia City to Turkey ?

If you want to donation for Leukemia children please use this link for credit card donation:

If you are donation but you have bitcoin send me bitcoin and i will send donation address and image upload :)

I've often have been characterized by my friends, as a naive person. This is due to my norm to take people seriously whatever they throw at me. I always listen carefully but also take some time to judge if what they claim is valid or not after they finished. I wasn't always like that. I often had turned down people in the past, that I found incapable of presenting something that (from my point of view) they didn't know very well. Huge mistake. And then; something happened. It was this specific incident that came rushing into a Tuesday afternoon and unexpectedly changed everything.

Please take my word on it:

EVERY person is significant and has something to offer to you.

No matter if they look smart, fool, educated or not, poor or wealthy, beautiful or ugly, young or old, or whatever. Sometimes it takes a leap of faith from your part to look deeper on something that some random person -you've might never met before- has to say to you... Take the chance. Take the gift. Most of the times it may not change your life. But there's this one time, that it will certainly will... and it will truly matter.

I know that the above text may not touch everyone. For some it may sound like gibberish; I cannot blame you. I will indulge you though to take it seriously. It's a leap of faith. Or; if you prefer, a matter of trust.

Cheers.

Coincidences seem like confirmations from the Universe (or call "it" what you will) of going in the "right" (or "wrong") direction, making the right "decisions", being with the right people, just plain being, etc. I've noticed that sometimes they come in waves (and may not let up) like when I started playing music last year.

Life is for sure interconnected (though our eyes deceive us and show constant separation) - But it is funny how it guides us where we need to go... I believe so.
And it is much more comfortable to get there not kicking and screaming.

BTW - I got into my passion of music, basically here, on these forums, thanks you know who. A little bit ironic, don't ya think?  ;D

I have had that film ready for over a year now and for some reason have put it off. Guess it will be in my near future.  ;)
And btw, there is a book called Coincidance.

Speaking of movies, VERY STRONG suggestion - great great film and a series to come soon (due to a successful crowd sourcing campaign).
Man From Earth - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGWs4bZn_5Q (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGWs4bZn_5Q) excuse the subtitles but it is HD.
This will start more coincidences...

Well I'm off to donate some money and a little bit more...

What is wrong with this picture from the Electronic Frontier Foundation?

http://i58.tinypic.com/ere929.png

Yeah, I could probably search for a Bitcoin Address but they are trying to get my information to give them money.
This is sort of against what BTC represents so I decided to donate the $59 elsewhere, guess they don't get it.
But then again they do, as it took a huge gift to get them accepting BTC way back when and
now it is like they don't want it, or they prefer to wrap it up with ID.

Its about sharing

Works every time in my case, though, USA copyright ban for a movie? Kinda funny! :)

Thanks for the try, but since ProxTube is apparently German-made and the proxy is in the U.S, it didn't work.
Maybe I will try Tor.
