1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To quit gambling is to quit yourself on: March 15, 2018, 12:41:36 PM
It is much easier said than done, especially to those who has been highly dependent with the winnings gambling can give. I do agree with you that with optimism, a new perspective can be developed to turn away from gambling. However, sometimes it can really be hard for people as they don't have the courage to let go of gambling. Maybe if they have a new perspective and be open to actually stopping, then there's a chance that they could let it go but if they themselves are leaning more into it, then the chances are low. It takes more than optimism, but with the right attitude, things could easily be eased.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest in BTC vs Invest in Real Estate? on: March 15, 2018, 10:23:28 AM
Don't get me wrong, I love Bitcoin and I really think that it has been very helpful to me financially as it is really profitable; but I think after a few years time, I would rather invest everything that I earned from Bitcoin into real estate as it is more stable and economical in a state especially if the area is placed in a really good and strategic position. When it comes to real estate, the value of the land in almost all circumstance would go higher with time as compared to Bitcoin whose value can change in a span of seconds. Real estate may be pricey but there is assurance in return and you get to use it for different purposes. It's just about practicality and in the long run, real estate is really something that would give you assurance.
3  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-13] Scammers Impersonating Tax Officers in Australia are Demanding BTC on: March 15, 2018, 09:02:56 AM
It's becoming a joke the lengths these people go too

I agree. I mean up to what extent are scammers willing to go to just to fool people for their sole gain? Scammers can really be creative and mischievous. Situations like this just goes to show that they can be whoever they want and gain the credibility they need at an instant just to extort Bitcoin from people. This is why people should be extra careful and vigilant with transacting with other people, may it involve ones bitcoin or other things that has great value. The only thing that can protect us from people like this is if we raise our awareness towards act like this. Before you engage with others, make sure they have sincere intentions and are not scammers.
4  Other / Meta / Re: Earning merit points by being a cry baby! on: March 15, 2018, 07:23:57 AM
Really now? You have come to this point where you encourage others to complain for the sake of earning merit points? I looked into your history and I saw a reason why you were awarded one. Do know it's not because of the content of what you wrote or your complain, but because you actually put your words together well. You might say that you're being sarcastic but come on. At least have the decency to respect those who actually deserved their merit points because they posted something informative and helpful.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we need price crashes and panic selloffs on: March 15, 2018, 02:19:40 AM
You got that right, OP. Despite the frustration a decline can give, we can only reach a higher and better rate if we experience these occasional crashes. I think that it somehow maintains a balance that is needed. Despite the factors being barely unknown to the reason of its downfall, a crash should also be considered as a good thing for it allows opportunity for new investors to grab. As more people buy when the market is red and as the supply decreases, this will contribute to the converting of its rate from low to high. A crash is what we need to somehow refresh the rate and bring it into a higher range.
6  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-14] Philippines Lawmaker Seeks Tougher Penalties for Crypto Crimes on: March 14, 2018, 03:59:08 PM
Filipinos face heavier sentences for crimes involving cryptocurrencies if a proposed new bill is passed into law.

According to a press release from the Philippines Senate on Mar. 13, opposition senator Leila M. de Lima has filed a bill - SB 1694 - to the country's legislative house, seeking to raise penalties for crimes involving cryptocurrencies to one degree higher than currently.

De Lima also proposed that the actual harshness of the sentence should also take into account the value of the cryptocurrencies' worth in Philippine pesos at the time the crime was committed. The crimes targeted, as the senator elaborated, may include payment for child pornography and bribery of public officials.

https://www.coindesk.com/philippines-lawmaker-seeks-tougher-penalties-for-crypto-crimes/

You also need to understand that the lovely Senator is not a sitting senator because he is currently behind bars on alleged involvement on drug charges. So this is the worst articles I have seen in recent months, and does not carry any weight, as far as I'm concern. I think this is another news to really put a lot of question regarding crypto in the Philippines. The country is crypto friendly as far as we know so I hope that this news will not bring any negatives as far as Filipino is concern because the senator herself have has cases against her involving questionable trades including drugs. I'm so disappointed though that as if Philippines is totally against crypto but its not the case so far. In other news, the fighting Senator of the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao has now investing in crypto as well: (https://coconuts.co/singapore/news/boxer-manny-pacquiao-investing-singaporean-cryptocurrency-startup/).

The moment I saw Senator De Lima's name and that she "supposedly" filed a certain bill -- that's when you'll know that everything you would read on from that point and after, are all false. I mean what are you trying to imply here OP? You should have done your research first and foremost before posting a hoax like this. You are contributing to the production of unnecessary and bogus threads in this forum. If you posted about PAC Coins, which is a way more interesting and promising news, then maybe you would have been more helpful and informative to this forum. Thank you for stating the facts, Kemarit!
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does positive thinking affect your edge in gambling on: March 14, 2018, 03:18:31 PM
Is that strong feeling you're pertaining to comparable to a gut feel? If it is then I think that despite gambling being a game of chance, certain circumstances just fall under coincidental incidences which makes a gut feel valid. It is during those times that make you believe that winning is within you when your gut feel is right. However, the chances of feeling this way and having the best outcome as possible in my opinion just does not happen as we often wish. Either way, despite the lack of support and proof of how this strong feeling can be valid, I do really think that it somehow sends a vivid message you need especially when gambling.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: more bad news: google to ban ALL crypto related ads on: March 14, 2018, 02:57:59 PM

It's not bad news, it's good news.

Most of those ads were for phishing sites, designed to steal people's log-ins for the exchanges. It gave noobs a bad impression that the crypto space was full of scams and crooks.

That's true. If Google is doing their part in protecting their users from being involved with sites that are intended for scamming, then I don't see anything wrong with their choice to ban such crypto-related ads. I guess that this may be generalizing, but this is the consequence we have to suffer for involving cryptocurrency in such motives. Not only is the reputation of crypto on the line but as well as Google's if they push through with allowing such sites to lure around their platform. It's a smart and safe move for Google.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Feeling sad on: March 14, 2018, 01:19:21 PM
Just hang in there. I know I shouldn't invalidate what you feel, but you don't have to feel sad. Compared to other Jr. Members, you're lucky that you were able to earn half of the merits that is required for you to rank up. You're halfway there, you just have to be more patient and be more persistent. Earning merits is not impossible and this is proven by you receiving some. So rather than being sad, just continue to do your best. There are more merit sources now so sooner or later you would get what you need to rank up, just make sure that you do your part so that you'll desevlrve bearing merits. If you think you need them right away, then maybe you can join some merit giveaways and contests. Good luck!
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Manny Pacquiao invests in cryptocurrency firm, is set to launch PAC Coin? on: March 14, 2018, 07:28:46 AM
I am a Filipino and this kind of news (assuming not a fake one) makes me proud. It inspires me a lot bacause even a sport/showbiz/political icon can also be engaged in crypto, this only proves that crypto is for eveveryone ~ can be access despite of your race, gender and age as long as you are willing to do so.

If this is really true then PAC coin will be a legit alt and will never be a scam, I'm pretty sure of that because it sticks to Pacquiao's name which means that his reputation will be affected if he did something inappropriate.

It looks pretty legit knowing that the Inquirer published it. Despite having different political and religious views with the Senator, I actually admire this venture of his. As someone who is very influential, this would actually raise the awareness towards cryptocurrency in the Philippines. Hopefully, not any type of corruption would be involved in this project of his so that the image of cryptocurrency would be preserved accordingly as this venture really seems to be promising. May this be the start of of something great for the whole country.

I also think this should be placed in the Press section as this is remarkable if proven true!
11  Other / Meta / Re: Merit... For what?? on: March 14, 2018, 01:00:04 AM
Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit is for people who are assets to the community. They start useful threads, they know how to read, and they aren't too lazy to read threads, and who help other members with their replies.

The ignore button is for people like you who don't contribute anything of value, clutter the boards, and are too lazy to correct their typing errors.

That's true. I understand that you're new to this forum but before taking actions, just like posting a thread that asks a question that has been asked more than I can remember, you should read through the boards first. I know that as a newbie you should be full of curiosity with everything around this forum and with that curiosity, the urge to find answers is unbearable. So before starting redundant topics, remember to at least try answering your own question by researching or reading around and make sure that what you're trying to ask is something that needs new answers or clarifications.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It To Late For Me To Buying Bitcoin? on: March 13, 2018, 06:41:54 PM
In this venture, you can never be too late. The unpredictability of the market is on your side to which is why you can't say that you're too late to buy and invest. Right now, Bitcoin is on the low edge of the rate which is why you should take advantage of this time. However, you should be smart in making decision as well because the rate may be low now, but it might be lower tomorrow or even higher, I mean who knows right? The point is, when you think the timing is perfect, then make the most out of it. If you're patient enough, then maybe you can wait for it to go lower. Just study the market for the meantime. Just know that you will never be too late for this.
13  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-06] Merriam-Webster Adds "Cryptocurrency," "Blockchain" and "ICO" on: March 13, 2018, 02:43:55 PM
You know it's legit when it gets placed in the dictionary! This is remarkable as the inclusion of this terms in the dictionary signifies that more people are involved in such aspect to which to which led to its reinforcement and establishment through defining the word and publishing it in a very reliable reference people look unto. With terms such as cryptocurrency, blockchain, and initial coin offering being in the dictionary, this would definitely pave way to discovery and awareness. Hopefully, this will initiate a meaningful realization to its readers as they go through the meanings of each significant word.
14  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-12] Ponzis and Death: The Stranger Ways to Lose Your Crypto on: March 12, 2018, 02:44:17 PM
Despite the widespread knowledge about Ponzi scams, the number of people who still falls into such "business" can still be quite alarming and saddening. I mean conference are already held in order to raise awareness, yet a lot are still fooled by this scheme. When will people ever learn to protect themselves and believe that when something is too good to be true, the chances of it being real is so low. I just hope that people would be more vigilant in putting their money into such ventures that are shady. At the end of the day, you can be the only one to protect yourself so educate yourself and be aware before doing an action.
15  Other / Meta / Re: When do YOU think you will level up on merits? on: March 12, 2018, 05:52:24 AM
Well, my strategy is don't worry about merits.

Just a single line yet it already has a big impact and is on point. Ever since the merit system was established, most of the members here are just on the "hunt" to get those merits to rank up. Little do they know is that these merit points shouldn't be given much priority as the reason for this forum is to share opinions and informations and not collect merits. I also think that if you're doing your part as a responsible member of this forum by being constructive and you know that for yourself, then the merit system should not matter. It's just for recognition anyway. My point here is that, the merit system shouldn't be that big of a deal since we are somehow obligated to write constructively in this forum to allow easy understanding and comprehension from one member to another. The merit system is just a bonus, a reminder that you're doing a good job. What should be given more focus on is learning from this forum and enlighting others as well.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If your friends and loved ones let you sell your bitcoin? on: March 11, 2018, 05:08:55 PM
An advise is defined as "giving an opinion that is worth following". Despite its definition, I believe that at the end of the day the decision on when to take that advise is still dependent on what you decide to do. Receiving an advise doesn't mean that you are obligated to follow it, instead you have a choice to thin it through and weigh your options as to what the circumstance allows. Knowing that it's your coins on the line, the most important opinion on what action to partake is yours so think it through and decide for your own. If you think that the opinion is valuable then consider it but remember that you are not obligated to follow by what other thinks that are against what you want. Your coins, your rules.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price rising and rising. Is it time to sell before another price down? on: March 11, 2018, 03:05:45 PM
This thread was posted 2 years ago and the situation may not be the same now, but Bitcoin is still truly unpredictable. Despite the urge to sell during a price peak as to assure return of investment, users should be aware that this would contribute to the decline in price of Bitcoin sooner or later. I am not sure of the reason of the recent decline in Bitcoin prices but in order to reach that peak we should continue to support Bitcoin and hold. Before selling, make sure that the price is at a somewhat stable (well I know Bitcoin is not stable but you know what I mean) state because you might never know, it might rich a higher price. So for now, let's all be patient in awaiting for its price to bounce back.
18  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-11] Tim Draper: Only Crypto Will Be Used For Payments in 5 Years on: March 11, 2018, 12:55:46 PM
This is actually the old news,I read about it last year(about crypto as only payment in 5 years),and I do not think this will happen in that time period, but I would certainly like that I'm not right.I do not know is he thinking that BTC will become main world currency or that governments will make their own digital coins, somehow I do not see China and Russia in his vision.

Draper is also invest in more then 40 coins how far it is known till today,so his statement about BTC as only stable cryptocurrency it is not something to be taken seriously,he is at the end only one more investor whose main goal is to make profit.

Only new thing in this article is his announcement regarding price prediction, interesting that he is published the date for that.At this point I do not see any significance of that date, but it is better to say something on April 12, then on April 1 Wink

I agree with Lucius. Old news or not, 5 years is still too soon and I guess too early to state that by that time Bitcoin would be used by the mass. With the government backlashing on Bitcoin adoption and considering the lack in technological advancements in parts of the world, Bitcoin mass use may still take a lot of time and consideration before fully employed in everyday use. However, things change so rapidly that I may be mistaken after awhile since we are in a pace where things are evolving rapidly. Only the present situation can give us assurance of what the state of Bitcoin would be.
19  Other / Meta / Re: It's all about merits. on: March 11, 2018, 08:48:49 AM
As a newbie, I was curious with everything that involved Bitcoin and this forum. So before I try to ask questions that has obvious answers, I would try to do my own research first because that's the reason why I joined this forum; to educate myself. It has been prevalent in this forum, particularly in this thread how the merit system was implied and for what purpose. Maybe before you post a thread like this, you should read through what everyone wrote here about the new system as to not be identified as someone who is just spamming or being uninformative.
20  Other / Meta / Re: Members applying in merit campaigns without being eligible on: March 10, 2018, 01:08:50 AM
Dont you have anything better to do? For example participating in campaigns to earn some money...
Stop wasting your time on things that don't affect you!
People are joining everything nowadays without reading the rules anyway.

How about if we ask you the same thing, don't you have anything better to do? For example, write positively constructive replies so that this forum would not be filled with such a pessimistic attitude? I know that this statement is not always applicable but have you heard of the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all"? You should have understood that the OP is pointing out ignorance that should be changed. You are no different with those people that don't read through the rules as you choose to jump into conclusions and just go for it when things need to be comprehended well. I wish you change your perspective on things as this forum would need more optimism rather than the hate.
