1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PSA: Pump and Dump - aka, the Newbie Trap. on: March 26, 2018, 08:25:15 PM
Awesome story . I always had suspicious thougths regarding PaD, however never really understood why. now it is clear Smiley

Do not misunderstand me as I am strong supporter of the blockchain technology, thus I might be wrong but the altcoin/bitcoin market seems to be a Pump and Dump as well...

No misunderstanding my friend, that is a very valid point of view. It's largely (in my opinion, of course) down to the motivation of the vast majority of users. This is not necessarily a bad thing though, because you need opportunists to build momentum. The PnD is a somewhat undesirable effect, but the explosive growth (both in monetary terms and more importantly in publicity terms) is a positive one.

Great observation, thanks for posting! Smiley
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Month's Review of the Merit System: How to Get Merits for Dummies! on: March 26, 2018, 07:55:22 PM
You're an extremely good writer, no taking that away from you.

I merited what you wrote, but mainly for points 1, 2 and 3. I don't exactly agree with the points after that, but I can definitely see why you wrote them, and I can see some value, also.

May I ask one thing of you, please, and it's just to preserve your own credibility....remove your sidebar post. The "Thank you for all merits" shit.

I realise this may be ironic on a level I don't get, but it undermines your whole post. Lose it.

EDIT: You're cynical on a level I'm not, but I can't really fault you for that. Will watch your posts with interest.

Was messing around with google analytics. Seems with recent price declines, the fervour of January has worn off slightly Smiley

Surprisingly low number of searches though!

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to remove a negative trust? on: March 18, 2018, 07:19:12 PM
In some forums I've known, you need to gain  + trust in order to remove the negative trust. just like mathematics:) but I guess is isn't removable in this forums, 1 mistake can ruin all your deeds.

why would you ask for merits? to join campaigns?
don't just ask for merits, work hard for it, just like as other says QUALITY POSTS to gain merits. if its just as easy as asking, how will the managers know if you're capable of joining their campaigns? If you're brilliant enough to posts informative threads or whatever campaigns do?. there is no such thing as shortcut, learn the basics, learn more to gain more. I'm just a newbie, I think I'm in no position to answer your question, since you are higher than me, but I guess it helps.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and ideas. I hope this will also help others specially newbies and to all as well. God bless.

PMing a DT to ask for free merit so you can make money? Really?

Where you really doomed this account though, was with the retaliatory feedback.

Now, friend, that neg is NEVER coming off. And you deserve it.

God bless to you too. /s

From what i hear, if you can figure out some sort of pattern to know which coins are more likely to be pumped and dumped, you can take advantage ahead of time.

For example:
- you identify a coin that gets pumped and dumped from time to time (over the course of months)
- you invest in that coin ahead of time leaving it on the exchange
- you put in a sell order 5x to 10x the buy price

You wait and check your sell order from time to time to see if the coin got pumped.
You basically have to treat your money as lost and come back to a potential 5x to 10x return.

Anybody have experience doing this with success ?

There are possibly ways to make that work. But you'd need to have some sort of inside view on what the PnD groups are picking, and would have to be OK with parking money on the gamble that they might never hit it.

You'd never get 5x or 10x off a PnD anyhow, tbh - more along the lines of 0-50%. (or a minus, as most get heh).

Price of Bitcoin changes every now and then, it is not a fixed price

Shitpost of the week. Christ almighty, at least TRY to hide it, will you?
7  Other / Meta / Re: Is there an accepted way to apply for Mod of a board? on: March 01, 2018, 06:44:27 PM
Thank you all for the great answers.

I'll lock this thread now, and keep reporting the junk, I guess Smiley
8  Other / Meta / Re: Point me to undermerited posts on: February 28, 2018, 09:36:13 PM
I have some spare sMerit which I don't intend to keep. Would much rather pass to some1 who deserves it (so he can pass it further etc.) but I simply don't know to whom.
So asking you to show me posts/members you think deserves to be merited and point up why.
I will review myself and decide.

Hints: looking for various guide makers, useful software coders, hardware manufacturers (those who make useful HW at home/garage), useful web admins, general supporters ...

WARNING:
- no beg (beggars will be red marked)
- no PM, so others can see your proposal as well (PM beggars/spammers will be published)
- do not post your own topics
- will skip proposal made by members registered after this post was made (so don't even bother)
- not going to provide any reasoning why the proposed one was not merited
- make it simple, just provide link and brief reason

Nice. Here are some that I sent my sMerit to, because they helped me:

Not everything I have merited but a list of ones that I revisited.

Hope this helps!

I've been a mod on a few forums. It's a thankless task, and it makes you a lot of enemies. You only have to look at the bitching that goes on here to realise that you can't please everybody.

I have also. And I know it's not a job that bring friends. My motivation here is the integrity of the Beginner's board, not to make new internet friends. And I am not affected by new internet enemies either.
10  Other / Meta / Re: Is there an accepted way to apply for Mod of a board? on: February 28, 2018, 09:25:59 PM
You have to report an astronomical number of posts and have a ridiculously high accuracy rate.  I don't think it's something you apply for.

That's a bit disheartening to be honest :/

I report crap as I see it, and have 100% accuracy to date. But I don't have 15 hours per day to put into just that activity. The hours that I can give would be (hopefully) useful, but if it's a numbers game....meh :/

Thanks for the reply anyhow, Og, appreciate it. I'll leave this out there. Maybe it'll be considered.
11  Other / Meta / Is there an accepted way to apply for Mod of a board? on: February 28, 2018, 09:06:37 PM
So I have been active here for a while now, and because I am not that technically-inclined, I tend to spend most of my time on the newbie board. Learning. I hope that the posts I have made there have contributed, and help people.

I raised a stink a while back about the splashing about of red paint by DT2, and since then (not from my post - I was only one of many), we've seen the introduction of merit. It's a great move forward, but we may not yet be in the final iteration of the system. Looking back at the motivations of DT2, I'm starting to really see their point.

Unfortunately, we're facing three issues on the Beginner's board, as follows:
- People who still don't know about the merit system, and are posting crap to rush to Jr.
- People who DO know about it, and are posting low-quality copy-pastas to get merit
- People who have figured out how to trade it, and are abusing the hell out of it

I take exception to this. We want more people involved in crypto to help the idea disseminate, and to raise support and awareness. For the mercenary, we want them to start buying in to raise the market cap.

But on a practical level, this is the number one landing pad for new users of crypto globally. And they should be set straight, immediately. For example, if abusers of the board system are on page 1, this raises associations that the entire idea of crypto is being abused, and is therefore a crook's game. That's not good.

I don't know how to apply, but I'm putting it out there publically that I would be willing to put my own time (after work) into moderating the Beginner's board, and would be vigilant about junk being posted, as well as merit-trading groups. I'm not bloodthirsty, I just care about this community, and I don't want it ruined. My approach would be to warn first, ban later. But you may be sure that there would be plenty of bans.

Is there a formal way to apply?

H.
12  Other / Meta / Re: Who the hell is "nullius" the guy is too smart around here :) on: February 28, 2018, 08:55:21 PM
Nullius posts good stuff, is clearly intelligent, and a definite asset to the community.

Until someone calls him out, that is.

Unfortunately, he's unable to take criticism, and shelters behind this weird Jane Austin meets Carl Jung persona, which makes him irritating and patronising in the extreme.

I'm not saying the merits haven't been earned - they have been. He's contributed.

I'm just saying that this guy isn't God, and don't for one second be afraid to argue if you see an error. He won't react well, but who cares?

A contributor, but not a pleasant one. His problem, not ours.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of best (and cheaper) way to buy BTC/ETH without ID registration on: February 28, 2018, 08:50:09 PM
Can a moderator close this thread please ?
Or could someone explain me how to close it myself Smiley
Thanks at everybody who contributed to this thread Smiley

You can close the thread by using the lock option in the bottom left corner. You might need to edit the OP to see this option (I can't remember, sorry).

Glad you got helped.

Another interesting question, should you wish to explore it, is how do you cash out without ID verification. I'll leave you to check that one out Smiley
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why did they actually enter MERIT ? on: February 27, 2018, 09:08:05 PM
Why did they actually introduce measures and what are its main functions?
Because spammers could create many many accounts and spam with them to gain higher ranks and activity.
With merit its impossible because you need quality posts not spam posts.
One problem with that is, people should reward quality posts which is not always the case because they don't know what merit is here or are just lazy.

I think merit is too scarce.
I want to merit many posts that really deserve it, but I have so few...

Most posts that deserve merit donīt get it. And sometimes a useless pots get 40, 30 merit just because is a friend of other legendary people...

Merit abuse is being monitored, and there's quite a bit of red paint splashing around.

In the mean time, if you have posts you think deserve merit, let us know, or bump them. Beware of bumping crap though.

What do you mean by bump? post a message to bring it to the top?

Yes. It's fine to bump a useful message (even your own), but bear in mind that the rules of this forum say you shouldn't do it more than once every 24 hours, and you should delete previous bumps (to keep the thread clean).
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! TO ALL FELLOW NEWBIES AND JR. MEMBERS on: February 27, 2018, 08:55:00 PM
Please, just stop stopping us. We dont want to be manipulated and beibg stopped.

All that I have is all that you've given me
Did you ever worry that I'd come to depend on you
I gave you all the love I had in me
Now I find you've lied and I can't believe it's true
Wrapped in her arms I see you across the street
And I can't help but wonder if she knows what's going on
You talk of love but you don't know how it feels
When you realise that you're not the only one
Oh you'd better stop before you tear me all apart
You'd better stop before you go and break my heart
Ooh you'd better stop

Sam Brown - Stop

You're so lucky I'm not a mod. You'd be shot into outer space.

It's this kind of shit that makes the front page of most of these boards a horrific experience to trawl through.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Welcome to Bitcointalk! A few words of welcome :) on: February 27, 2018, 08:30:01 PM
Last time I bump, I promise, but seems relevant today.

18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why wallet hacked on: February 27, 2018, 08:22:46 PM
Dhanems, is there something wrong with you that you need to quote other posts in the thread with no reply?

If you're trying to bump it without breaking rules, you're not being very smart about things.

Other people have asked you for more information. Provide it, or stop the spam. It's that simple.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much is 1 bitcoin worth? on: February 26, 2018, 09:58:42 PM
Still now even I don't know its actual price but it has been 100k a month before

Username checks out.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why wallet hacked on: February 26, 2018, 08:13:39 PM
Not enough information to help. If you're talking about the address you used for your bounty spam campaigning, then it's never had any Eth. Only "EthLend" tokens, whatever they are.

Is it a different address? Can you share the transaction IDs? The (public) wallet address?

3 boards now, and you haven't posted anything except "amg woz hax0red!".
