1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / New IXCoin website - May 2023 Update on: May 24, 2023, 04:52:06 AM
Hey everyone,

Just a little update on status of new IXCoin website:

- Website redesign - DONE (It includes new graphic design, new logo and new branding)
- Wireframes - DONE (it means the skeleton of website design is ready)
- Website development - 70%
- Marketing plan - In progress (we should do some noise in social networks once the new website is launched)

It took a significant amount of time, I acknowledge, but we've surpassed the halfway point by a considerable margin!

Some details, I still have some funds left from the initial funding. Unfortunately, I'm a bit concerned with budget because current price of IXC/BTC pair in Freiexchange is only at ~70ish sats. Yet, I don't ask for more funds, rather we could better help the project by pushing price up to 200+ sats. If we come together as a community, it would greatly facilitate the completion of the budget, otherwise I will have to dump the price quite lower for paying the website developer and halt progress till we can raise more funds.

If you wish to check more details on the design please visit the @Devtome channel in Telegram, there you'll also find comments from Vlad, Traxo and other guys who contributed valuable feedback.

I'll be back in about a month with more news and maybe the new website if funding works for this final phase.

Bests!

Thanks for the proposal Dan. Currently Devcoin blockchain is constrained to very old Bitcoin standards. The source code might be updated, but miners haven't adopted it yet. Once we have them using 22.x, we can activate more functionality that will then enable stuff like the one you propose.

Just my 2c

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / DEVTome.com going OFF-LINE on: January 09, 2023, 04:34:13 PM
Dear Devcoin community,

2023 is starting with the following challenge:

For the last few years devtome.com has been running on humble infrastructure provided by the Devcoin Foundation (DF). Given the current bear market and expected market down trend to Bitcoin at $12k or even $9k, the DF budget has become very constrained and we can't afford to keep devtome.com online anymore. Just for the record, DEVTome server requires a budget of US$25 monthly or US$300 a year. We are open to accept donations from the community in order to keep it online, but if we don't get enough money by end of week, it will shutdown till we can raise the funds.

Thanks for your understanding,

--

Vlad is banned from bitcointalk, twitter etc so how do we get him back?

We'll have to intercede for him with moderators. If Steve Jobs made it back to Apple, Vlad can come back for sure!

small beginnings are ok but  ideas must be big ------- there is no solid idea behind this project yet  ---- white paper review could be a start

No white paper will be needed once the design (and specially the logo) is revealed.

- develCuy

How will the logo negate the need for the whitepaper? Will be be using original IXcoin whitepaper?Excuse my ignorance here.

I was just trying to say that I'm not running IXC, I'm not the right person for taking care of the whitepaper. Vlad is the right person and we should have him back to bitcointalk, past stuff is water under the bridge, let's keep moving forward!

In regards to CMC's outdated info about Devcoin,

There is only one official account from the Devcoin Foundation (@devcoin.org) registered on CMC and so it should be the one with access to any self-reporting dashboard they provide.

Look, stuff happens sometimes, but somebody has to start the fire again! I'm already hiring a graphic designer that will help me for ixc.devcoin.org. The amount of IXC spent from the treasury of donations will be disclosed once all work is finished.

Just an sneak peek of what my designer and me are working for IXC.

DISCLAIMER

All contributions I do for IXC are unofficial .

I was waiting for more feedback from the IXC community, like in the golden age of forums but I guess people is busy somewhere else and this community got its heart iced during the crypto winter.

Have you guys lost faith on your own project?

newwwsss?
No news or any new developments.

I would say that any of the suggestions above maybe starting with a new website and then some good marketing. Then if interest is generated and there is some good trading activity we can move to technical development to keep momentum going. Maybe there is little point in doing any technical development until the community grows and there is more trading and price action to help fund development?

Thanks for your feedback @kickback. I agree that working on the website would be of help for IXCoin. Btw, I'm not taking any formal or official role for IXcoin or communicating anything on behalf of IxCoin. I'm just an OpenSource dev and community member, contributing whenever possible, and I do so for about 17 years now. That said, I withdraw my offer of fast-forwarding IXC codebase, actually I don't plan to contribute any code, won't elaborate on the reasons, just want you guys to have clear what my intentions are.

In regards to ixc.devcoin.org, there is a banner that sets clearly the purpose of such mirror and where it comes from.

So, if we are updating the un-official website, we need fresh info, any ideas?

hi everyone
any development lately?

Hi sandboxsand, thanks for asking!

I'm updating Devcoin's AuxPow support. It required to remove most of Syscoin based code and replacing it for Namecoin's clean and stable implementation. You can watch progress over here: https://github.com/devcoin/core/tree/auxpow

First of all, sorry for the delay, but it was for a good reason!

kickback, sandboxsand, cornhodlr, ViqRa, realdantreccia and other IXC people that contacted me via private channels, I can't be more thankful for your kind vote of trust on my proposal! Now we have many challenges upfront but we'll conquer any obstacle if we team for the brighter future we all wish for IXC.

Next step is to plan a little bit before we take any action. I propose the following topics (in no particular order):

- Fast-forward IXC codebase to Bitcoin 23.x base
- New website
- Organic marketing (social networks)

Can you share with me what is top priority for you? Choice along your comments would be much appreciated!

Exciting, of course. You can run Devcoin Core 22.x if you compile and run on Linux! We're past block 516000 and that is the block for SegWit activation. We need more nodes. So far the majority run Devcoin Core 22.x (5 peers and 29.4% or so of todays Devcoiners on the network - but I think we need more. @develCuy would know how many - I am unsure).

We need the majority of Devcoin network to support Segwit, including miners. Since those two conditions aren't met yet, all core 22.x nodes need to be updated with a later node in order to let them keep syncing with old nodes (that are still the majority).

Since the initial period of 3months-ish didn't work, I will double it to 6 months.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / IxCoin Future on: April 30, 2022, 01:38:21 AM
Dear IxCoin community,

It's been about 2 months since launched the new IxCoin website: https://ixc.devcoin.org (announced here) and @markm explained the relevance of IXC for the Galactic Millieu (GM) which in turn is a key project for the Devcoin Foundation (DF). As head of such organization I'm concerned about the future of IXC, since it is already an important component of an ecosystem carefully designed by markm and one a valuable type of asset in DF's custody.

What we find currently (and correct me if I'm wrong):

1. No development has been performed since Sept 2015 (only updates to text files)
2. There isn't any form of organization supporting the project
3. The website is outdated (DF is on charge of hosting only)
4. There is only one working exchange, hopefully with some liquidity, yet with low volume

I can't help with number 4, I suck at trading and market making! What I can help with is with 1, 2 and 3. My contributions to the Devcoin project since 2014 vary from reorganizing leadership, community management (recently delegated to @realdantreccia), taking care of main website, maintaining the code base and recently upgrading it from a Bitcoin 0.8.x base to the latest Bitcoin 22.x (and 23.x coming soon), all while holding the weight of an Admiral role (yeah, the one blamed for everything). If you consider that such a background deserve any vote of trust and that I have the potential to make any positive impact for YOUR project, then please let me know your insight here in this forum.

I'm listening.

Just for the record, the DVC XRP token is here: https://xrpscan.com/account/r3gHXhK1pwZFG9ESiaosxjufEVQjwGuJUd and it has 26 trustlines at the moment. Since emfox is the issuer I would like to learn from him about its current status. In the case of Stellar tokens DVC and kDVC, Mark and me are actively supporting them.

Dear IxCoin community,

An updated (to my best understanding) copy of the old ixcoin.org website is now live at: https://ixc.devcoin.org

I will appreciate your feedback in the following link: https://github.com/IXCweb/ixc.devcoin.org/issues/new

Also, the Devcoin Foundation (DF) is evaluating current status of IxCoin as a project, given its relevance for the Galactic Millieu and DF's treasury. Can you share with me your thoughts on what is current IxCoin status and your vision for it in the near future?

Sincerely,

- develCuy

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Ongoing shares renamed to Devcoin Shares and new public registry on: March 02, 2022, 02:58:41 AM
Dear Devcoin community,

I'm maintaining the Ongoing shares registry since 2017. The initial purpose was to list the shares paid to Devcoin staff or administrators (people with roles and duties) by the Devcoin Foundation. Back then there were shares designated for different purposes (i.e: devtome, bounties, marketing, etc.), all the shares are converted to receiver files format and then paid on progressively throughout the 4k blocks that take every round (about a month). Currently, the receiver files input only comes from Ongoing shares for paying Devcoin A-Team (a.k.a staff, administrators, crowd, etc) and for holding funds for the Devcoin Foundation treasuries (i.e: Exchange Fund, OpenSource Fund, etc). I kept a private repository with the history of changes in parallel to the announcements made in this forum, the official Devcoin thread on Bitcointalk.

I see that Bitcointalk activity reduced consistently overtime and is no longer the main communication channel with our community, yet still relevant for its historic value! For those reasons I decided to publish the registry and rename the Ongoing shares to Devcoin Shares. The new name has a purpose for the future as well, since there are plans to evolve towards a DAO model: https://github.com/devcoin/core/issues/98 (please blame Sidhujag's cleverness!)

Long history short, from now on please stay tuned to the official Devcoin Shares registry for news in this regard. Changes and questions will be discussed in the repository issue queue and there might be a Wiki in the future, for documenting how Devcoin Shares are calculated and paid on every round.

Devcoin Shares repository: https://github.com/devcoin/shares/
Registry of changes: https://github.com/devcoin/shares/commits/master
Issue queue: https://github.com/devcoin/shares/issues

Go for it Devcoin community!
