The number one question I receive by friends after “What is Bitcoin?” is "What can I do with it?" A few teams are working on a protocol that would add many innovative capabilities for Bitcoin users. It’s a decentralized sidechain called Echo, that aims to develop a suite of financial mechanisms and instruments. We want to facilitate the development of applications that would make your lives as Bitcoiners more convenient. We will be hosting a hackathon soon with a few other teams in the industry to reward programmers and entrepreneurs with making the services that society actually demands. What application or service would be a value addition for you right now? If you want to read more about us Site: https://www.Echo.orgDocs: https://www.docs.echo.orgThe thing that I most like about crypto is being able to feed my family in my home country. They don't need to understand how it works, I just deposit to my father's bank account and he's happy about the quickness of it. Emergencies and such I always help and I know they appreciate my efforts, I don't know how I'd be able to support people in Venezuela otherwise (currently Western union and similar "worldwide services" don't work with Venezuelan bolivars) so I'm thankful to bitcoin for existing.

There are many ways to promote bitcoin. You can watch this video ( https://youtu.be/qzwf1AQxqM0) of mine to learn more on several ways in which you can contribute to the promotion of bitcoin. I hope the video is helpful because making it was like building Rome (Rome was not built in a day).😁😁 I'll be very grateful if you can list more ways so we all can have something we can do to support the growth of bitcoin. Thanks a lot for promoting bitcoin. Yea, that reminds me; you can make bitcoin arts too and publicise them. Great animation you've got there. Great job. Beyond all that, I think Bitcoin is self-promotional itself. It's the first point of contact anyone (greenhorn) makes with cryptocurrency. A lot of them even think Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that exists, and not as one of the cryptos. I think the issue now is mass adoption of Bitcoin through legislation/regulation and not necessarily awareness. The word about Bitcoin's awareness went out in 2017. Yup, anyone that takes interest in crypto usually gravitates to Bitcoin just out of its price, volatility and market share. Still, it's not wrong to promote here and there to potential adopters and lead them to the right places to get their info (unbiased if at all possible) and teaching them what's convenient for starters.

I've been using localbitcoins for my fiat exchanges for as far as I can remember, never leave over $2k worth there, that was until the recent dip, I had $2k exactly and it hit me hard as it went down all too quickly with the price dip. Decided to leave it there until price recovers, I've been purchasing here and there but always try to stay under $1k for these extra purchases before sending to a personal wallet, so I currently have 0.22 of which 0.201 I will not touch until price soars once more

Places like Egypt, Morocco or Algeria have set bitcoin use, illegal. What exactly stops people that live there to do bitcoin transactions since no one controls the network? And yes, without "cutting" their internet connection.
I'd say that NO. Precisely because it is a decentralized, open technology, the govmnts of any country can't just shut it down, it'd take serious efforts and there's realy not much in it for them. Best they can do is join the movement, check Argentina and their government backed efforts to adopt the blockchain for example. For some reason I made this comment on another thread, thinking I was answering to this one haha

Maybe so, I think that, rather than it being just 1 year with lots of countries adopting, it'll be a slow progression, we've already seen countries make steps in the right direction, I think this quarantine situation is also helping, have you noticed how many government processes that required you attend physically have moved online instead? It won't stop soon either!

Changehero doesn't have much user reviews so let us hear about your experience while swapping coins on that exchange! Because most of their reviews are from paid members on internet I guess . Well, I did a small purchase and it worked out just fine as I expected it, After all you shouldn't invest more money than what you're willing to lose Do not waste your time using such platforms, the majority of cryptocurrencies have no future so you will only benefit from them outside the central platform. I mean, i think everything in crypto is experience-based and although I would say this might have been a risky choice for me to do it went well for me didn't have any trouble with the transaction there I would rather use flyp.me which was mentioned above than using this random platform without any reputation and even enough reviews in regards to your money, will think about it next time as I ended up using Changehero for this purchase as they ended up having the best ratio and that was what I was looking for

Helo everyone I was looking for instant exchanges and was wondering if you can give me some info on any similar service to shapeshift BUT without the registration?
I'm looking for one where I'll be able to make the whole thing fast and that's easy to use.

adding value and extending functionality to the Bitcoin ecosystem for millions of people is not easy the project should have collaborated with several community organizations around them
But they are, they have a full page with all the partners they're working with here: https://www.rsk.co/partners/Collaborating with other projects is exactly the way to go to get noticed, but everything takes time and, as far as we're aware, they're working heavily on the tech to make sure it's as easy to use as possible, pretty neat if you ask me

Looks interesting. I think there are other similar projects, or maybe I am wrong? What is total supply of RSK ? Maybe, but I'm pretty sure RSK is the biggest out there! RSK is the name of the network, RBTC is the gas, I'll assume you're talking about RBTC which is pegged 1:1 to Bitcoin, so total supply is exactly 21 million tokens, exactly like bitcoin If RSK is the biggest out there, why is their thread not gaining attention from crypto users here? As you noticed, so many projects have attempted to beat bitcoin or eth platform, yet the pedestal is still with bitcoin. Though this project is claiming to be smarter than bitcoin, but how many active crypto users actually know this project? When I mean the biggest I kinda mean the most popular, the intention behind RSK is not just to compete with bitcoin or ethereum, that's a bit too simple. This is taken from their telegram channel: "RSK’s long-term goal is to give users the ability to consume its decentralized services from any smart contract enabled blockchain, like Ethereum, EOS, and Cardano, etc." While at the same time acting as a second layer / side chain to bitcoin, empowering the bitcoin blockchain. Also if you google Bitcoin Smartcontract RSK is on the top results.

The entire purpose of tether is redundant, change fiat into fiat coin. Like what? Oh you don`t want to abide by fiat laws so you call it something else?
The creation of Tether is not entirely redundant you see during the bear market for crypto traders (and maybe investors) it was a means of safe haven for protecting your capital from incurring any more losses in the market that is why it is also called “stablecoin” because it is one of the few unaffected cryptocurrencies out their when the market is shedding blood. It may not act entirely on it's purpose but for me this was a useful alternative compared to cashing out your coins entirely out of the market. And that's all perfectly fine, but hey, they shouldn't play being the US treasury and "print USD", they should back it up with actual USD somewhere and make it a transparent process, otherwise they'll get the book thrown at them, which is what is happening right now.

I agree with you. It's one of the reasons i feel P2P will be the future as people gradually start to remember that Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency were always meant to be and are inherently P2P.
Even if totally P2P, centralized exchanges do something way better than general p2p. For example, what use do I give to crypto? I get paid in crypto and sell to send money to my parents in my home country, not being from a first world country, finding people that buy bitcoin with my home countries's currency is pretty difficult, and decentralized exchanges really go after main FIATs. So in my particular case I find use in centralized exchanges, at least until a more decentralized option makes my home country's currency as one of the escrow-able options.

For those who believe that Bitcoin will never be able to reach its all-time high ($20.000). One word for them Stay out of Cryptocurrency. If you do not believe on the technology, why adopt it.
It is the technology that I believe and given the development that is happening, I believe that Bitcoin will be will surpass all our expectation. The key is to be patient and wait for the right time.
Thing is it'll probably not be quick, we shouldn't be too harsh on newcomers, fudders will always be present, and when we take a stance of "yeah stay out of crypto", it is not unlikely that the people unsure of the future are recent adopters, we should show them with examples of why we believe bitcoin will rise again. In reality, it always does, and right now it's behaving very much like it has done in the past after a big crash, slowly creeping up. But there's another problem, we're currently sitting at about 1/2 max TPS capacity, once momentum goes up, new users will very likely clog up the network, lightning seems like a bit of a waste with all the limitations that it comes with, so what could be done? Thankfully the tech is ever improving, I'd like to see Lightning be as good as it was advertised, we're just not there yet. Maybe lumino / RSK will be the answer? What do you think of these off-chain solutions or layered approach? Personally, no, I don't think the price of Bitcoin will ever reach to $100000,00.
I don't think diehard Bitcoin fans are "bluffing", either, I think they're just deluding themselves.
In order to pull this off, Bitcoin would need a certain degree of rarity. More then It is.
Also, there must be a nearly insatiable demand for Bitcoin too. And I can't see this for the future.
We've had insatiable demand in the past, and price reaching high numbers is not impossible, maybe not practical with current tech though.

On the whole the bitcoin atm into usage might have increased, but in some localities ATMs have taken back as it hasn't got increased usage and wouldn't yield an earning. The usage of bitcoin atm decreased because of the increased withdrawal fee compared to the transaction fee levied on an exchange for cashing out.
I used to work in the bitcoin ATM industry during 2017's bull run, and let me tell you people were crazy about getting their hands on some bitcoins. It was incredible, some platforms charged as high as 18% over price and would still see traffic on the machines, they weren't in for cashing out, they wanted to be a part of it, buying was what was on people's mind, I'm sure that when bull market comes, this will happen again. And even on bull market times, with the difference that more people will want to sell rather than just buy. Remember everyone hears about bitcoin at different stages of their life, and I think bitcoin ATMs are a good way to get people used to the idea that we're here to stay. Where I live bitcoin ATMs are not really popular though, I'd like to be able to use one some day

Fulfilled. Maybe asking where the surveyed user is from could be interesting to note. I know we're everywhere but a heatmap or something similar would be cool

While talking about facebook, AI and future technologies the reporter asks his view on bitcoin and this is what he has to say It begins at the 4 minute mark if you just want to skip to that part of the interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2f55VpFC5oHe was wanting to own some was for experimental purposes and not to make any financial gains from purchasing it. He sold before the price went up so he didnt make anything from his holdings. But he says he sees it as the worlds single currency one day. I was checking live transactions on the bitcoin network just today and see that we're on ~4tps, we're not even close to 10% of the world's population using it and we're halfway of choking it's limit in a relatively calm time, I also believe that bitcoin has the capacity to become the world's single currency but there's lots of improvements to be made.

Stop pumping shitcoins, the market cap should not be shared among shitcoins.
[deleted image for ease of reading]
by the way show me your bitcoin jokes & memes
There's lots of shit you have to go through to find the real worth altcoins, and also there's a lot of people that have just jumped in the crypto train to scam people which doesn't help the trust on newer altcoins, with this said, I think that the user below points out something important: This I don't think it could be true, why because I don't think a single tree can make a forest. Because in every market determinant, there should be a very good competition because that's what will be driving everyone to sucess and greater achievement dito to cryptocurrency as well.
And I think he's right, no one single product will keep the market alive. Competition is key and healthy, I'm sure that, eventually, another coin will prevail over bitcoin, and I want to see the attitude of the general crypto community once it happens

Personally for me, the most "Bitcoin-ish" things I have ever done is spending 27 days, 11 hours and 23 minutes minus AFK time on Bitcointalk to obtain the rank Legendary. With the hope that one day I will be able to put it inside my resume - alright, just kidding.
What's the most Bitcoin-ish things you have ever done?
eg. laszlo for being the first person to buy pizza with Bitcoin
Well I support my family back in Venezuela solely through Bitcoin. They sell it there and get local currency in exchange, so I guess that's pretty cool
