What do you think?

Since there is zero chance your brother can get his coins back, I see no point in communicating with the scammers at all. Honestly, I think the best course of action is to completely ignore it.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fixed matches group in 3rd world countries on: May 19, 2024, 09:50:31 AM
Until you try it directly and explain the experience, I'll never believe the Telegram or Facebook groups you're referring to. The basic reason is from my experience of gambling on football since high school and joining many betting signal groups, but none of them are truly legit, back to the words that I think make the most sense as to why they're a scam are "simply if they ( admins) have accurate information, they don't have to make signals because they can enrich themselves".
I'm willing to, but I haven't had the opportunity yet. I'll probably discuss it with my friend next week. I'm fully aware that money doesn't grow on trees, and something that sounds too good to be true probably isn't. I've never joined any signal groups in the past, simply because I don't trust them. Why would anyone give information when they could use it themselves? This case seems different a little from what we're used to, but that doesn't make it legit in the long run. Even if I involve myself in the group, it would still be reasonable to be skeptical about it. Just because it works now and pays doesn't mean it's going to in the next one or two months; that's exactly how Ponzis' work.

I figure trying don't cause too much harm if you go in with reasonable hopes.  MAAManda raises a good point too - if these people really had solid info that works, they'd just be using it themselves and raking in the cash.  So before you even think about joining, make sure to watch your back.  Maybe use fake profiles you don't care about getting banned or something. Just be careful because if it sounds too good to be true, it always is.  And these sport betting sites will slam that ban hammer down fast if they catch a whiff of you using some service to try beating them.

Ultimately it's your call.  If you try it, go low-risk.  But something tells me you already know better than to bet big on questionable tips from Internet strangers.  In the end, trust your gut bet what you can lose, and don't expect miracles.

Good luck either way though!
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Be careful with people's money on: May 17, 2024, 07:00:15 AM
It was not "money mismanagement", it was fraud - plain and simple. That money was under their control for an assigned purpose, when they decided to take it and fritter it away on gambling, they did so with dishonest intent. It was driven by greed, they thought they could beat the system and ultimately got eaten up by it. It's hard to have any sympathy for them, as they probably had multiple chances to stop early on but kept pushing through with disastrous results. I feel sorry for the many people who will have to go without now, as one person tried to take a shortcut to wealth against odds that were stacked against them.

Absolutely right. When someone takes money that's been entrusted to them and uses it to gamble, that ain't just bad management - it's fraud, plain and simple.  Theres a clear difference between making a dumb investing decision with good intentions versus intentionally taking what isn't yours to score big at the casino.  This developer sounds like a first-class moron and maybe even an addict who couldn't keep his impulses in check and  his boneheaded choice didn't just screw over those users directly, it makes the whole industry look bad.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fixed matches group in 3rd world countries on: May 17, 2024, 06:48:12 AM
I haven't tried it myself; I just learned about it yesterday evening, and to be honest, although it sounds too good to be true, I'd potentially test it with a bet or two, but not involving my own money. My friend however, has already won quite a few matches and has generated a decent amount of money.

Technically, anything is possible. There is no doubt that there are fixed matches and sports betting manipulations. There's a whole underground betting scene, sure, but this situation with your friend reeks of a classic scam with a shiny new coat of paint.

High odds, 50/50 profit split? Red flags everywhere. If someone's "giving away" money on sure bets, why wouldn't they keep it all?  You say admin is banned from gambling platforms so he can't bet by himself, but what about his real life friends and family members? Instead he needs some FB "friends" to share the profits with? Where's the logic in that? I think this is a classic trick to build trust. They throw you a couple of wins to make it seem legit before the inevitable "big one" that disappears with all your "shared" profits.
5  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: buy bitcoin. I have $800. on: May 15, 2024, 06:16:36 AM
I will buy bitcoin. I have 800$. for my safety the transaction will be conducted through MM. write me here or in discord: carolgarcia6559
What is MM though?
My first time getting to know about such a payment method or perhaps platform?

what payment method are you offering ?
He talks of MM, do you have any idea what that is?

The only thing I can think of is that he may be referring to the "Money Market" accounts that banks offer. Although, I'm not sure how common the use of such accounts is in P2P transactions for buying cryptocurrencies. In general, it's simpler and safer to go through a well-known centralized exchange.
6  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker bot profiles on: May 15, 2024, 06:01:27 AM
To the last question, I might attempt to answer, and my answer will be "maybe yes", and reason is, if this bots are developed, then it possibly means that their use may be allowed on and by some casinos, but on the other hand, I will still advise prospective buyers to first find out from their respective casinos if bots like this are allowed, to avoid wasting money on stuffs that aren't usable.

From what I know, trying to use bots on gambling sites is  a surefire way to get your account banned! The casinos have sophisticated programs to catch that kind of thing right quick.

But, what do I know? Maybe you're onto something and  could be there's some online casino wonderland where bots can run free without getting the boot. Although even then, gotta watch your back.  Those bot sellers might not have your best interests at heart.  But like I said this ain't my area of expertise.  Just thought Id offer my two sats on the situation.
7  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] BitcoinMiningSolutions.ca || FAKE TEAM on: May 13, 2024, 06:06:57 AM
A new version of the Whitepaper is now available on the website. They just kicked out people who were found out to be fake! Smiley

Apparently, our little scammer buddy saw the accusations and couldn't even muster a decent defense. Just kept peddling his phony project like nothing happened. Pathetic.
8  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam by a BCGame Employee on: May 12, 2024, 04:30:06 PM
PLEASE ANYONE HIGHER UP FROM BCGAME MESSAGE ME TO GET FURTHER PROOFS

This doesn't make sense. Why would they contact YOU to get further evidence?

If you suspect a casino employee scammed you, wouldn't you try to contact THEM to report it?  But like others have said, it's far more likely you fell victim to a scammer pretending to be a casino representative.  Honestly, given the type of information you requested, perhaps you didn't deserve a better outcome.  So in a way, justice is served!
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A question to all the people that have invested before? on: May 12, 2024, 02:21:28 PM
A question to all of you that have invested in Bitcoin before, what does it look like? Because I know there are so many people that want to get into it, but they fill is not real, so I want to get some ideas from anybody that know how it's work please 🙏.

How does this question of yours differ from your first topic on this forum?

If you're new to online forums, that's fine, but wasting everyone's time with repetitive threads goes against basic forum etiquette.  Take a moment to read familiarize yourself with the forum rules and learn how to contribute meaningfully.

10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chased loss, got it back and lost everything. on: May 12, 2024, 02:07:31 PM
Yup, been there, seen that. The so-called recovering gambler who gets that rush from winning some money back and thinks, welp, maybe just one more spin of the wheel to really get ahead.  It's a nasty cycle, I know it all too well.  That little voice starts whispering come on try your luck again! Think of everything you could do with another big payout...  and  hard to ignore, right?  Even when you have the best intentions to stop, it finds a way to suck you back in.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin the Dubmest Thing Ever Invented on: May 12, 2024, 01:33:14 PM
<snip>

You say Bitcoin units hold nothing, like empty boxes. But aren't empty boxes valuable too? Collectors pay a fortune for limited edition shoeboxes!  Maybe Bitcoin is the ultimate limited-edition digital box.  Who knows, maybe someday people will be fighting over empty Bitcoin wallets at museums!

As for the whole "non-existent asset" thing, tell that to the folks using Bitcoin for everyday transactions or those holding it as a hedge against inflation.  Maybe it's not the Mona Lisa, but scarcity and utility do hold value. You don't have to admit it, but it's a fact.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: May 12, 2024, 01:16:24 PM
I'm happy UK got 0 points from public because kids were watching man and that is not appropriate at all but I also dislike heavily the fact that Swiss won based on what ? the song is just another radio song that will be forgotten in about 1 week + he broke the code and also the trophy.
Yeah, not really happy with Switzerland win, didn't liked it at all and already forgot how it sounds. Interesting what result it would be if it would be performed by someone who doesn't considers themselves and non-binary gender and wearing dress. I guess somewhere in the middle.
It looks that both jury and people voted quite similar, what isn't very common. Only big exception is Israel, they didn't got much votes from jury, but got a lot from spectators.

I think otherwise. The jury's votes are dramatically out of sync with the audience's preferences this year. For example, Switzerland would have only placed fifth according to the public vote.

I think it's high time to eliminate the jury voting at the Eurovision Song Contest. Many viewers feel frustrated that no matter how much public support their favorite acts get, the professional jury members override popular opinion to hand victories to less popular performers. Over the past few years especially, their bloc voting has catapulted somewhat questionable winners to the top spot over more crowd-pleasing hopefuls. With the experts accounting for 50% of each country's score, the public's role in picking the champion seems diminished. What's the purpose of letting fans vote in a contest where their preferences carry so little weight? If the EBU wants to retain public engagement they should reassess how much influence televoters versus judges have on the final outcome.
13  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Need suggestion for a good Monero wallet on: May 10, 2024, 05:53:12 AM
Does Monero have such type of wallet or which wallet you recommend has at-least a faster syncing.

In order for the "light" wallet for Monero to work, you will have to share your private view key with the remote server. This will violate your privacy, but such wallets will synchronize with the network faster. The only two such wallets suggested on the getmonero.org website are MyMonero and Edge.

I am not aware that there are any other Electrum forks for Monero. The closest to it is the Feather wallet, which you have already tried.
14  Other / Meta / Re: Are no-KYC services banned? on: May 08, 2024, 06:46:07 AM
What about lending? someone can use lending as a loophole to trade same coins.

The same rules apply as for trading.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard fork to disable inscription. on: May 08, 2024, 06:23:25 AM
Could we make a hard fork to disable new inscription to reduce the network pressure.
<cut>

Anyone is free to create a fork of Bitcoin to disable/enable anything they want in the software. But do you think miners/mining pools will support such a chain? (Or at least most of them?) What would be the incentive for them to do so?
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will happen to BTC if Government gets involved? on: May 06, 2024, 06:52:50 AM
With the way things are going and most governments being against bitcoin and crypto because criminals are using it,

Your assumptions are wrong. Most governments are not against Bitcoin since it is legal in most countries of the world. They do want to regulate it, though.

how would it be if Government finds a way to regulate it and all or most countries adopts it as legal tender?.

Those are two separate things. I doubt that Bitcoin will ever become legal tender in all (or most) countries in the world, but it doesn't have to be legal tender to be accepted as a means of payment or an investment asset.
As for regulation, that is already happening in one form or another.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: Ever dreamt of turning your passion into profit? on: May 05, 2024, 02:30:46 PM
When we're young, we all have these big dreams that someday we'll get to make a living off doing what we love.  But, that ain't easy.  It sure ain't all sunshine and rainbows - most folks end up settling into a steady office job just to keep the lights on, even if it doesn't exactly light our souls on fire and  and for most people those dreams of starting their own little hobby business or whatever stays just that... dreams.

But when some of us get older, that itch is still there, you know? We get tired of the whole office politics grind and decide hey, maybe it's time to finally take a real crack at that crazy dream we had when we were 20-something.  For me that dream was getting into woodworking.

Now I chose a totally different career path in the IT world early on, but Id always been lowkey interested in making stuff with my own two hands.  Call it my genes or something - my grandpa was actually a carpenter, but he died when I was just a baby so I never met him.  I just heard stories about him and saw some old pictures.  Anyway, now that I'm approaching middle age and money ain't really an issue anymore I've been slowly tryin to follow in his footsteps, if you will. Right now, it's just a hobby. But I wouldn't be surprised if someday I quit my job to pursue it full-time.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much of my salary should I use to gamble on: May 05, 2024, 01:40:55 PM
How much of what you make needs to go just to keeping the basics covered? I mean rent, utilities, groceries.  Gambling's for fun, not paying the bills.  First step's figuring out what you absolutely need to live.

Then take whatever's left over and decide if you wanna risk some of that for a shot at winning a jackpot, etc.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any Live Charts to track Bitcoin Transaction fees ? on: May 05, 2024, 01:27:50 PM
Today transaction fees are insane.

In fact, today's transaction fees are decent. I don't see anything insane on mempool right now. Of course, they could be lower, but ~25 sats/byte is not so bad.

Is there any way where I can keep an eye on it LIVE updating chart or something so I can sell my BTC without losing all of my money ?

You can check on mempool.space: https://mempool.space/

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin the Dumbest Thing Ever Invented on: May 04, 2024, 05:24:38 AM
Even smart people can have dumb ideas. Satoshi Nakamoto proposed a dumb idea. People feel for it because they saw it as a get-rich-quick scheme. Sure, you hava a distributed database. But empty units that are stored in it are not coins, money, currency or an asset. Proposing something like that was the dumbest thing ever.

Well... as long as it works, right?

What intrigues me, though, is if you think Bitcoin is dumb, why are you still here?  You've been doing this for quite some time now – how long has it been? So by your argument, you are at least as dumb as some of us here. Maybe even more, because some of us have actually made some profit investing in Bitcoin over the years. Have you?  Wink
