I don't even understand what Homero Josh is trying to imply. That Nicehash was paying out a bunch of extra BTC to their pool in order to hurt GAW by a far lesser extent? He's not saying much but the good folks of HT seem to be enjoying the opportunity to denounce NH and Phil along with it. Which is not surprising, given the general sentiment, just counter to the supposed goal of bringing it back into the pool options. Basic politics. Blame the other guy for your problems.

lolz, you guys are questioning whether GAW is legit after they bought Zenminer for $8m and Bitcoin.com for $1m wakey wakey... +1 I accidentally deleted my reply. Stupid keyboard. I don't think ZenMiner was bought by GAW. I am pretty sure they were owned by GAW to begin with right? I would happily be proven wrong if you could supply me with a reputable news source of this purchase and also of the Btc.com purchase. I could never find an actual news site reporting either of these. I thought the $1 million purchase would be big news but its only small crappy coin news sites.

Many people are too pessimistic. Sure if this was a new company I would be a lot more worried. Sure GAW is not being transparent with zenpool but they have a great track record. A lot of the competitors are now following (look at BITMAIN) so it means this new idea is pretty good and is making profits for the hosting company. It does not mean this is a scam. ROI is a different story though
Bitmain makes their own asics and everyone knows it since they sell them. Gaw doesn't make their own asics. Kind of a big difference. But you are right, cloud mining seems to be gaining a lot of traction at the moment. This might not be true for too much longer. What might not be true? I have said too much, if I say more I might not wake up in the morning. So either you know cloud mining is going to take a dive or GAW is producing their own units.

Everyone is talking about ROI. But that isn't why people are 'mining' , it is mainly for profit - with few exceptions of people who are just interested in the workings or want to support a coin (not applicable in GAWs case).
Why not just buy bitcoin and give it back to yourself after 4 months?
What is more interesting to see is how much you will continue to make after this ROI period. How much will you have lost due to inflation and time-value of money?
Do people think they will make much on top of the ROI? So much more that it is worth the risk or not even returning your investment?

You're right, but this isn't a good thread to post positive feedback, most of this discussion is troling or troll feeding. I could quote several good opinions that were called shilling, while some obvious troll posts were quoted. There are perhaps equal amounts of valid negative opinions that are labelled trolling.

I will never understand why brand new members find that their opinion will be taken seriously in a discussion such as this.
I have a few hashlets, and I've accepted that I will probably never make my money back. In that same regard, I won't be losing any sizable investment.
I will never understand how someone one the internet thinks someone else on the internet cares what she thinks. Everyone has the right to an opinion even you. Imaginary internet points mean nothing buddy lol. Go back to your 50 cats.

Thanks GAW_CEO for the free 250MH Hashlet Prime for the losses I incurred with you!
Great to see the admission and compensation. Respect for the compo!

I find that funny since I have probably been with gaw well longer than them. But I have no conflicting interests now.

I will argue with your post there, you're misinforming people. There are pictures with open setups (no isle separation) everywhere. You haven't seen any other setups, have you? I also believe they showed the real data center pictures and a warehouse full of miners getting ready to be plugged. Laughable that the businesses are run by 'highly trained businessmen'. Almost every staff member at GAW has the last name Garza. I know that is a common last name but really lol I don't have 10 smiths at my work. If my business was actually so successful you would think they would actually have some highly trained staff. Or at least a spell checker.
Same here, why are you misinforming people? I've seen their names on their site and in fact most of them aren't named Garza. This is FUD, please prove me that what you just said is true. I am not referring to thier site. I am referring to my personal dealings with them. It was a half-truth joke. My apologies for spreading fud lol For the others - I have not been scammed by gaw. I doubled my investment and got out recently. Overall my experience has been positive with gaw. I just think their community is currently a bit toxic. Like I said above I haven't not seen any evidence that they are scamming people. But also I am not sure how they are making money so well. But just because you can make money doesnt mean you are a scam.

So WTF is this then? How do they make money to pay off their users? I don't think this can be an ordinary ponzi, everybody knows info about owners and the company, if they scam so many people, they ll be in jail for millions of years. There must be some other agenda behind this.
Have you heard of Bernie Madoff? He was very well known and respected in his community and field. He was active in charity also. He made lots of people lots of money. He was also a crook running one of the largest ponzis ever known. Ponzi scams operate by being public. If people haven't heard of you then your ponzi isn't very good. Besides that GAW miner CEOs have never publicly given money to charity and before their GAWminers venture they were mostly known for taking taxpayer money through their telecommunications company in order to build phone towers but never actually building them. They've even scammed in the past. I have read this in the past. Any proof of this? Here's where found this information from. http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1yh23g/has_anyone_here_sold_their_own_rig_on_ebay_and/cfkvbbkDoesn't really say much though. The links don't provide much evidence. Just to say there would be potential delays for finishing the wireless stuff. Any proof they didn't go through with it?

Mostly what I can see reading through this thread is that the proof that GAW has that they are legit is as solid as the proof from here that they are not.
Do private investigators actually exist in the US? How much would hiring someone to do a proper investigation? Or contact the IRS to audit them. I am sure they would be very interested to see how they are generating so much profit especially considering the ease with which you can avoid tax by accepting btc as payment.
Just a thought. That way there would be some solid proof of either their legitimacy or their crime.

how do they plan to make money, at least in theory
The best I can suggest is question #2 in the OP: Laughable that the businesses are run by 'highly trained businessmen'. Almost every staff member at GAW has the last name Garza. I know that is a common last name but really lol I don't have 10 smiths at my work. If my business was actually so successful you would think they would actually have some highly trained staff. Great replies all round guys! Definitely exciting to be part of Dnotes in its infancy. I wish I still had my hardware pointed the the pool!! As it is I hold a fair bit. Nothing compared to some I know though haha. I admire the way you are avoiding incorporating gimmicks into your coin. And I am very impressed by its stability. I joined the Dnotes camp thanks to TeeGee but I stay because of its stability (and of course the upward drift ) It will be an interesting next few years to see who can make the cut. I personally hope the herds of altcoins out there are thinned out in some way. The sheer number of them is not conducive to mainstream adoption. It is frankly confusing as f***. What I would really like to see is the development of a bitcard/Dnotes card. Something that you could load your digital currency on and spend just like a credit card but with no fees. That would make mainstream adoption easy. But easier said than done right? lol.

Hi all, Long time lurker here. I was introduced to Dnotes by my mate TeeGee. I have a a decent holding of them and have introduced a few other mates also. I have seen this currency steadily climb since I was introduced and I am very impressed when you compare it to other coins that jump around like a leprechaun on crack. I read this thread quite often and one thing that stuck out to me was the mention of the three functions of money. The mention of it having to be used as a medium of exchange was followed by an explanation that it is exchanged on various coin exchanges. To me this is not meeting this criterion. Gold is also exchanged on exchanges, as is oil, wheat, steel etc. This does not make them great mediums of exchange but it means they are being exchanged. For Dnotes to be adopted and accepted as a real currency it must be able to be used to buy things. So far Bitcoin is the only coin that really fulfils this. If coins are not being actively used as a medium of exchange then the price comes from pure speculation not an inherent value. Failure to address this issue is what will result in Bitcoin reigning supreme at the end of the day and all of the other altcoins crashing and burning in its wake. Please answer me this: Why would I used another digital currency other than Bitcoin? If I am an everyday person I might not understand how it works but I have a Bitcoin wallet and some Bitcoin and I can buy things in many places. This involves a lot of infrastructure behind this coin to be able to do this. Why would I have another address with a different currency with a different value to do the same? Don't get me wrong , I wish this currency every success. But issues need to be addressed and discussed for it to become a useful currency beyond the exchanges.
