fraud, noun,
wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.

Fraud would be if I intended to sell them something for bitcoin and deliver nothing.  My account would be flagged and my years of building my 100% positive feedback destroyed...for what $70 Bucks?  I got a letter from the Vice President commending my account.

Being against ebay's policies...that is where it gets a little tricky.  In the end, if we say we are settling in cash and I receive bitcoin instead...presuming I pay my ebay fees through paypal like we did a cash transaction and everything else proceeds normally, how does ebay know how I settled the transaction?  Returns are the real issue, how do you determine rate...is it what they sent me, or current spot...but as long as you resolve it, it's still not fraud.

If there is no intent to defraud, simply bending their rules to accomplish a sale with the delivery of the product they are purchasing is not fraud.

I have completed sales like this for card risers I had an overstock on from my old mining equipment.

The thing is...you shouldn't be able to buy his art unless it's properly showcased with special lighting for the full effect to take hold...it's breathtaking.

I think if properly displayed his art would be worth ridiculous amounts of money.  Thinking of kickstarter and more for him.

Well...these responses leave me back where I started...the majority of those are text based and/or highly technically oriented...this is about reaching grandma and the kid who hasn't heard about it.  It's about empowering people all over the globe to interact freely and directly.  

I'll probably wind up using pictures of early mac computers, papa johns pizza, and the new nokia phones in the presentation...this is about simplification of a paradigm shift that has already occurred.

Please post images that evoke the emotion of Bitcoin for you.  In an image...why are you into Bitcoin (I've already got a pile of gold image)?

Hey all.  I'm about to give a presentation on Bitcoin later this month at an event called Pecha Kucha, which is a bit like giving a lightning version of TED Talks where you get 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide to get your point across.

I'm hoping for input in the form of images that drive home the core elements of bitcoin...the less text the better (none is preferred).

I've already been gathering some...but I'd like to see what the community comes up with here, and I will let you know if I use your contribution.  Thank you in advance!

I haven't posted in a while, but I've been a part of this craze since 2011, and condensing what I know into 20 slides with 6:40 seconds for the whole talk is an interesting challenge, like trying to explain particle physics in the same amount of time.  I say that in jest, because the first Pecha Kucha I attended was actually at Fermilab and two particle physicists gave speeches in this same format, so if they can do it...so can I...or perhaps my parallel universe me, or whatever.

Whoa...you do realize you'd always be able to get a premium over spot by keeping it intact and selling it whole right?  Very few situations warrant defacing a collectible coin that only gets more collectible while idiots rip away the stickers and devalue them.  They have WAY less value after being spent than they do intact and loaded by the man himself.  You've got a hero account, consider selling it intact for BTC in an auction here...you'll get more than face value every time, and if you're willing to sell on ebay, you can make a lot more than spot price, just be damned sure to ship it with the crazy lock and key shipping that must be signed for by the recipient only.  Ebay has your back if someone try's to scam you and you can prove it.

I would say it is already transnational...it isn't international as no one nation has adopted it, unless you consider the internet a nation.

If you google the company, it is called Metatrader...the metatradING website is a phishing duplicate that will install a trojan.

I know because I got hit.  Then the guy used my BTCtalk account to advertise his scam.

If you clicked on a program and it looked like nothing happened...you are infected, get malwarebytes and run safe mode (assuming you're on windows).

They got in my cryptsy and withdrew all my funds rapidly (after converting everything to BTC), then deleted the confirmation emails.  I saw one of them before deletion and got notices that many of my other (coinbase, gemini, circle) accounts were being attempted (via my Authy two-factor app...get it, use it always).  

Two-Factor Authentication stopped them...use it with every account you put money in.

Be careful out there and change passwords regularly.

EDIT:  One of my accounts reports their IP as belonging to Romania.

Technically, each piece is a unique work of art, but the whole project will comprise of 121 "Swancoins" over time.  The stencil may be similar, or possibly the same, but each one is slightly different, so it's not simply a print of itself.  In fact, he tags a Bitcoin address with each individual piece on Blockchain.info upon creation to verify it's identity (available using the QR code embedded on each painting).  I believe the artist displays a profound understanding of Bitcoin, and this project is his contribution to the network in the way that made the most sense for him.

If this thread doesn't belong here, perhaps it could simply be moved to an Art or Marketplace thread that makes more sense, the op is legit, I got my artwork promptly after payment.

 

While this may be a lofty idea, my thought process is that if Bitcoin gets exponentially more profitable for miners than miners will be able to lead the world in new technologies related to power generation.  We already have ASIC's on the 20nm scale and even smaller ones in the works for mining machines, so what if we focused on improving the tech behind generating power.

To that end, I think solar cells, wind, and hydro plants are just a natural progression for miners, as you could effectively mine twice, bitcoin and the power to generate it.
