101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread 0.24$/G Free Ocean Shipping on: January 16, 2015, 07:52:17 AM
That Dogecoin payout seems rather gimmicky, like fractions of fractions of pennies, but that's Doge for you, it doesn't always have to make sense to be supporting the community...it's kinda like a paid advertisement for it.
102  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2014 Casascius St. Petersburg Bowl Bitcoin Coin on: January 16, 2015, 07:47:25 AM
The one I have with the spilled gold seems like people would be more interested in it like this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703713.0

Aren't defects desirable to coin collectors?  I'll post a pic tomorrow when I have better light so you can let me know, I was thinking that would be the one I should keep.
103  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are there fake Casascius coins yet? on: January 16, 2015, 07:29:40 AM
Someone should have just bought it...it is Paypal after all...they could get their money back for a fake.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SCRYPT] KlondikeCoin ★ Cryptsy.com ★ Prepaid VISA Cards ★ 0% Premine [KDC] on: January 16, 2015, 06:14:10 AM
I started mining this pretty early from initial launch, and my holdings are literally worth about $5.00 now, so if you want to re-work the code to get this ship sailing again, by all means, make it worth something.  I think the goal should be to get onto Shapeshift.io as quickly as possible, and they are connected with Cryptsy (don't know how much, possibly just API).

That way, Amagi and any other bullion dealer can easily work with KDC, because they can immediately convert it to BTC.

So anything you do to revive any life back into this project, you have my blessing, buyout and lets call it a "Bounty-mine" (Pre-mine sounds solely beneficial to the creator).  Write some code, I'll try to let people know about it.

If the pre-mine was strictly a "bounty-mine" and the addresses and rewards were public and maybe even added to this thread, I think it'd go over better than if it's done at all privately, this coin was supposed to be 0% premine, but clearly that led to a lack of development, so bounties may be better, especially if those bounties included physical gold bullion.

It'd be awesome to make a physical KDC coin.

Post a pic, message Casascius with a link back to the thread...I'm sure he could tell us, and if it's a quality control issue they might swap you out for another, otherwise it may be worth more because of it.
106  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTODOUBLE.COM - 100% PONZI IN JUST 100 HOURS on: January 16, 2015, 06:00:14 AM
Many laughs, such fail, so ponzi.  With their tens of thousands of Doge, the thief can buy a package of chewing gum.

Maybe it's unfair to call this enterprising site operator a thief, after all, it's a public service to take these peoples unwanted coins, they are clearly too stupid to keep them.

I can say that because I also gambled on a site like this early on...believe me, kicking yourself for making mistakes on these sites teaches you not to be so gullible next time, welcome to the wild wild west of Crypto, keep your gun handy.
107  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2014 Casascius St. Petersburg Bowl Bitcoin Coin on: January 16, 2015, 05:10:18 AM
got mine today and not happy with it looks like someone dropped it and the rim got a dent and front scratched before putting it into the case.

We bought a few and I'm noticing the "dented" rim actually looks like it's from the striking...I could be wrong, but any defects from Mike himself should increase the value, that may even include any scratches or oddities.  I'm thinking of having all of them graded at ANACS, especially since he may be destroying the unsold coins to make next years'.

I also noticed all of the ones we purchased have some level of dent, one actually has gold plating spilling into it on the bottom that must have moved during the electroplating...which is awesome because people definitely like error coins.

Checkout Chicago Bitcoin Meetups and look for Regularly Chat Crypto, I'm going to try to go next month, it's in Schaumberg.

110  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: January 15, 2015, 09:23:06 PM
Why is CryptoCoinNews so deeply littered with these advertisements...does Josh Garza have a stake in them?

Weeding this company out of existence will help the whole community.  Just look at these clowns trying to organize their pump and dump publicly.

It reflects poorly on the whole community when these douche-bags steal from anyone within it.  Don't do business with these guys, and if you're
holding, don't get stuck holding the bag.

As far as any floor is concerned...
They don't have the money to back this up.
111  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 15, 2015, 09:15:48 PM
I'm really hoping we found our bottom yesterday, because paying for equipment that isn't paying for itself is not fun.  And if we have some of the most efficient ones around...everyone is hurting right now...looking forward to some multi-million dollar farms going dark and flooding the market with cheap rigs...then it's back to home mining!
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 15, 2015, 09:10:45 PM
I wouldn't be surprised to see some sell offs...ebs and flows, it's how everything goes.

Meanwhile in the batcave, supposedly they are not processing requests for changes from bonus Neptune to Titan if you ask now,
they say that they may make this option available once they start processing bonuses, but they could not make a change to my
existing order at this time, nor give me any indication of when they would be processing bonus miners.

The fact that they offered us 2 for 1 on Neptune orders with the option of swapping to a Titan should be actionable up until time
of shipment in my book, because the only reason they offered that was so we didn't cancel our orders in favor of cheaper miners
available on the market that were actually shipping.

So.........

KDC needs a relationship with gold. Whether being back by gold or being used to buy gold, like at Amagi or Agora metals.

https://agoracommodities.com/
https://www.amagimetals.com/

Both of these websites accept BTC for gold and other precious metals.

https://www.amagimetals.com/info/btc-as-legal-tender-in-california/

Read the title of the link!!!!!
Explains all, and is a step closer to full fledged US adoption.

erhmmm...... Fuse...... time to get these sites on par with KDC.

I'd love to get KDC accepted on Amagi or Agora, but I feel we have a long way to go.  We need to get people to participate in the discussion here first Smiley

Which brings me to another question.  Is it too late for KDC?  I'm ready to put some time into getting this running again, but is the community interested in bringing this back?

-Fuse

I'm curious if it is worthwhile also, I'm a little disappointed it just died, then again, I couldn't continue mining it when Litecoin took back profitability, so I'm not terribly surprised, and really it seems like it didn't offer too many new features, just some gimmicky ones.  Some of your proposed changes seem intriguing, though I'm just hoping my months worth of mining is worth more than 5 bucks.

Glad to see this is still alive.  I'll keep an eye on it...and maybe point some power at it again.
115  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2014 Casascius St. Petersburg Bowl Bitcoin Coin on: January 15, 2015, 07:12:27 PM
If this is your first Casascius coin it is really cool when you first get it...it's one thing when it's on a screen, it brings it all into reality when you're holding it.

I think that's why he was so successful the feds stopped him from making glorified bus tokens with stickers on them, lol.
116  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2014 Casascius St. Petersburg Bowl Bitcoin Coin on: January 15, 2015, 04:48:59 PM
Got this in the mail today.  I ordered maybe within an hour of them going live.  I live in the U.S.

Actually I was in Tampa, just outside of St Petersburg, the day of the bowl game.  I didnt go to the game though.

Needless to say, my crappy phone pics dont do these coins justice.  Very shiny...fresh off the mint.  They came in these holders shown.

Bithalo already snapped a few photos.

It's quite possible I will release far fewer than 2000.  Only a few hundred have made it into the wild.

I had hoped to have these ready and on the market for the Christmas shopping season but didn't quite get them out in time.  Because of this, a few hundred sold.  I am sure I could promo the heck out of them if I felt like getting rid of them, but meanwhile, given that BitPay's got the St. Petersburg bowl for 3 years, the way I am producing them now, it's economically feasible for me to melt & remint what I don't sell, to become another coin such as the 2015 coin.  When they are no longer available on the Bitcoin Bowl website, that might well be the end of public availability for this 2014 coin.

I'm pretty excited that less than 2000 will be out in the wild...and from the sounds of it, less than 1000 even.
