Would it not be possible to buy a harddrive with the blockchain already on it? Downloading 700GB P2P, I guess that would take weeks or even months. Every package sent around the globe usually is faster. In 4 years, a 700 GB USB stick will be a normal thing.
you must still be on dial up or something 700GB can be downloaded in less than a day on 4G Connection (80mb) it would only take 9 hours to download 700GB today on a 200mb connection (fibre) (which are available in certain developing countries already for $50/month) you might want to look at: http://www.download-time.com/700GB in 4 years will be nothing in most countries

these days you can easily obfuscate your coins yourself (trezor makes this a very simple task) there is no real need to mix/tumble coins anymore and when mixing, all you are doing is mixing dirty for dirty so a bit pointless
there are also numerous ways to exchange coins like trading for altcoins and back play poker against yourself etc. but these will cost a bit to do
other than that you have Helix (2.5%) that will give you new unsed coins
one other thing to note, is where you spend coins and why you need them mixed ignore the paranoid info you can read everywhere, posted by mixers that want your 3% commision unless you plan to hold the btc for a long time or you plan to use an exchange like coinbase to cash out there is no real need to mix

for the internet not to exist, would mean there could only be 1 computer in existence

bitcoin would exist like everything else that is digital before the world was digital

lets not forget the american miners that MOVED to china geo location of mines or transactions, (with most coming from mines, exchanges) has nothing to do with a country or its citizens if you run a business that can be run anywhere globally, you would obviously move your location to the one thats suits your business the best to maximise profits

I was asking myself if it is possible to clone a coin 1:1, mine a lot of coins and sell them as real coins
For example i copy the sourcecode of SC nd mine those coins on my Laptop, since Im the only 1 mining this (clone, copy) Iit would be easy to mine lots of them
What mechanism prevents that from happening??
We all know the Federal reserve Bank has the right to print Dollars and in the Bitcoin System everyone can mine Bitcoin but what stops me -besides the knowledge- from cloning those coins and kind of faking them
Has anyone ever tried that??
Its Easy all you do is get 2 trezors, and some double end usb leads so you can get power to trzeors and connect them together then you just copy the coins to 2nd trezor giving you double Just like you would with VHS recorders

Yes it's possible look at Dogecoin it is cloned from Bitcoins, so when you copy it you get a different digital coin also called Altcoin.
EDIT: Another thing, you can copy your wallet.dat This way you obtain more Bitcoins, many people got rich using this simple steps.
Is it just me or does this place just seem to be a magnet for retards and spammers that know jack shit about Bitcoin now? Yes Bitcointalk.org is now just filled with dribble from signature ad campaigners mostly kiddies trying to earn a few satoshi for hours of typing dribble i wonder when bitcointalk.org realizes its not good for the forum in long run and it does not help bitcoin at all having forums full of dribble posted by idiots that dont know much about anything

"People are just too stupid to use bitcoin right now,” I overheard someone argue at a bar a few weeks ago as we were discussing the potential of cryptocurrency. “Society’s understanding of where money comes from is the real challenge. This is the whole article I read at cointelegraphYou could have just shortened the title to: "People are just too stupid"

When Bitcoins first started, it was seen as a form of geeky adventure. Nerds and geeks were viewed by non-IT people with different lens. But perhaps those nerds and geeks who started mining for fun half a decade ago and hoarded thousands of bitcoins are now the new millionaires.
Who's laughing now? Perhaps the overweight geeks hiding in the basements with thousands of bitcoins will be overwhelmed by hot chicks in this time and age
You seem to be very slow to pick up on whats now been the situation for many years who you call geeks, most will call programmers or coders and potential of earnings for compitent programmers is unlimited but you are now very very late to the party, like others mentioned too many at it these days so you need to have exceptional work and workrate to stand out from the crowd Just look what 2 "geeks" in a garage done in 1997 Programmers and coders were one of the lowest form of IT jobs apart from from tech support in some societies I have been to more than a decade ago. Now programmers and coders in those same societies are highly sought after. The world has changed. You must be in some socities that are also behind the times, also its not finding people for the IT work but finding capable people, and if you are a good programmer you will not work for cheap or will not work for others. Of course programmers would be highly sought after if any of those that actually know what they are doing know they could be earning more elsewhere or by themselves, also these jobs werent needed by companies a decade ago. The thread is not about the current demand for IT jobs, but the amount "geeks" can potentially earn.

Is there any way to get bitcoin? I need a VPS and I only want to use bitcoin, but I want to earn the bitcoin.
What I have tried: *Faucets *Mining *Gambling
Anyone have a pay per post thing?
Why dont you just run a signature ad campaign and flood the forum with DRIBBLE like 99% of the users here

bitcoin be controlled by all users. but I was quite concerned with the power of china. china is so extraordinary, they have bitcoin users are very numerous. china can do anything to control the price of bitcoin.
The number of bitcoin users from china is no threat, actually. The threat is that many among the bitcoin users from china are large bitcoin holders. In theory, if bitcoin users from china worked together, they have the power to manipulate bitcoin price by a few dollars up or down by either pumping or dumping their coins. Then it is therefore, a threat. China is known for their unity and manpower. They're like ants. you must be american...........

what a dribble thread
Geo location means diddly squat
Do you think all the people in Hong Kong are chinese/hong kongese ? do you think all the people in Shanghai are chinese ?
do you not know, those that made a fortune from being in bitcoins early MOVED the fk out of their police state countries and moved to Asia Mining farms moved to China for cheaper rates
stop this stupid notion, that China as a country has any influence, or that chinese people all get together to decide what happens.

This is the true nature of bitcoin. The price is dynamic and the fluctuation is a normal thing.
However, the sudden huge decrease in price is due to the huge selling by the Chinese. Traders have booked their profits at $780 level and due to the huge volume of sell trades, the price went down. These dynamic pricing is the main reason why it is not accepted by the major e-retailers like amazon and all.
However, I see no reason to panic as of now. The price will bounce back soon.
you must clearly be american get this silly notion of "the Chinese" "China" out of your head.

Is there really someone who can control the price of bitcoin?
I think we don't need to worry because we still have the same amount of bitcoin even if the price goes down or up. The problem is, if time comes that you need money in fiat and the price is still very low, you're screwed.
Yeah, we can afford to wait longer to earn higher profits, as price is not too good at a moment to sell as it will not allow you to make higher profits. obviously you dont know too much about trading, and with that way of thinking, you will never sell or use your satoshi (i would say BTC but not many here actual have coins)
