101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: EOS will hit $ 30 in Q2 2018? on: September 24, 2018, 10:24:05 AM
Well evidently this didn't happen and that's down to lots of delays with EOS mainnet. Of course they're not unique in this with many projects also promising deadlines that they could not stick to. I fear with EOS that due to the exorbitant amount of funding that they raised that there may not be quite as much pressure on developers to deliver from a personal point of view.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What's your view on the current price of ETH and XRP on the coin market? on: September 23, 2018, 08:23:27 PM
XRP is not decentralized and looks like pump&dump coins. ETH is really decentralized because POW and has good developers headed by Vitalik Buterin. I beleive Ethereum is cheap now because they are solving scalability problems and unlimited supply in Etherium 2.0.
Banks don't need XRP coin so price is manipulated but banks will use Ripple, Ripple don't need XRP so it's price is overvalued.

Which of the two tokens would you suggest has better future?

I agree. Ripple is not decentralized and will be a prime target for such pump and dumps. Having pumped near 200% in under a week it's due for a large correction unless the whole market can continue to move upwards. i suspect that won't be the case and it will slow and with that XRP will fall back to around 30 cents. Eth on the other hand is still at a relatively low price and even if it falls I don't see it bottoming out much lower than $150.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Hidden Bull Market - Big Institutes Coming Nov / Dec 2018 on: September 23, 2018, 08:21:08 PM
that is what I am being told, and see on my volatility charts.

then you are being lied to Cheesy
there aren't any institutes coming to save you and your investment. there is no retribution. there is only mistakes that you have made by bag holding altcoins and the losses that you have sustained while traders made a lot of profit from your mistakes.

now they are doing it again by telling you to bag hold while waiting for some imaginary savior that will come pump the prices and give you your profit back!

well
i totaly aggree with you.
the fact, its an individual category.
we dont need to believe someone, unless you as an investor some project.
but if the project fails, just back to step 1
its an individual risk, individual profit.

As much as he may be wrong, you may be also and you can't say that someone is being lied to just because their prediction may be wrong, that is the beauty of predictions. I do have to agree that the market is most likely not due for some large scale recovery and that big institutes aren't just going to swoop in out of nowhere. Institutions will follow what the people demand and want and right now there is little furore around bitcoin.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: This is when I bet all into cryptocurrency on: September 17, 2018, 12:10:00 PM
If more people took a longer term outlook on their investment we wouldn't have such harsh downswings as we have had. People get too caught up in a short term mentality and it harms their investment and also btc adoption. I likewise feel the market will fall a little lower but not much further, after that I do believe a reversal is fairly imminent and within 1-2 years maximum we will be back to previous ATH levels.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Shouldn't coinmarketcap delist "dead" coins? on: September 17, 2018, 12:05:44 PM
Shouldn't coinmarketcap delist "dead" coins?

Aggregator sites like coinmarketcap and livecoinwatch often show trends of greatest gainers/losers of the day/week/month/year. However, coins with almost dead marketcaps are prone to manipulation.

Why don't these sites remove such coins?

Real decentralized crypto coins are really hard to kill.

Coinmarketcap should sort crypto way better. Now all is in one bag although crypto listed there is like day and night.

I know of one token and one crypto coin that although should be listed on coinmaretcap are not. So it seems now is much harder to enter coinmarketcap.

It's actually now easier than it's ever been to list on CMC as they removed the trading volume. Really now all a coin has to do is be legit, provide relevant documentation and be listed on at least 1 exchange (as recognised by CMC). If a coin isn't on there then it's probably just because they're being slow in reaching out to CMC
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Shouldn't coinmarketcap delist "dead" coins? on: September 16, 2018, 03:49:37 PM
If they're really dead then there will be no trade volume and so there won't be any price changes on CMC. CMC is a site designed just to check market cap, volume etc. Just because they are 0 does not mean that this should not still be offered. What if someone wants to check on a coin they invested in a few years ago that's now at 0.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: EOS is expected to surpass ETH, but what has happened to it on: September 16, 2018, 03:47:34 PM
Compared to ETH in that time span EOS has largely outperformed it. I think it's outperformed the majority of coins in the last 6 months. I don't know if it will surpass ETH. EOS isn't much of an upgrade right now and they're struggling to actually deliver anything of real worth.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Cryotocurrency gives you excitement? on: September 13, 2018, 03:02:56 PM
Cryptocurrency is definitely brings a rollercoaster of emotions each day. Some days are exciting because of good news shared about it along with a rise the prices, but then a short while later it falls back down. I think trading keeps me on edge and is the most exciting part of cryptocurrency for me because I am able to have a little more control of my portfolio.
109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Survey Shows 80% Of Americans Have Heard Of Bitcoin on: September 11, 2018, 02:56:07 PM
It's great that so many people have claimed to have heard of bitcoin or at least cryptocurrency. It would be interested to give a survey to countries a little less developed to see if the idea has been floating around at all there. It's interesting how many of the younger generation claimed that they would be willing to switch their USD currency into crypto. Also, it would be interesting to give a survey that asks people if they are familiar with how exactly the system works.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what qualities does a coin need to survive this bear? on: September 10, 2018, 05:14:34 AM
does it need any? will there be a unifying characteristic that leaves certain coins standing where others have fallen?

i'm going to say that the less centralization there is, the greater the chance a coin has of living to fight another day.

a prime example of this is doge. it's been around for what feels like forever. no one's really in control of it. it wasn't created for the specific reason of lining the pockets of a small bunch of assholes. it's just overtaken zcash, the coin put together a bunch of geniuses, on coinmarketcap.

similarly unless it gets its act together litecoin will come out of it alot stronger than BCH for very similar reasons.

is there anything to that theory? is there anything else that you've noticed?

Decentralization is probably the top of the list, that way you can be sure there isn't anyone behind the scenes pushing their own agenda instead of that of the people invested in the coin. Although that mostly applies to only established coins. The others that seem to be performing well have some sort of an actual use, bar a few they are fully established and out of the development stage. It's hard in this environment for people to invest in speculate coins. Much like in the real markets when times are tough money flows back towards gold, government bonds etc, here it flows back towards bitcoin mainly and then a few other of the stronger more established coins.
111  Economy / Speculation / Re: Satis Group-Bitcoin might reach 96K by 2023 on: September 08, 2018, 09:23:52 AM
It's definitely not unthinkable that we can reach such heights but any prediction that claims to have any level of accuracy is simply a lie and nothing more than speculation. Even if they are found to be right it's not because they're model was perfect it's just because they got lucky. But 5x the previous ATH in 5 years time would be more than doable for bitcoin if looking at its past growth.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: its time to buy ETH? on: September 07, 2018, 09:54:12 AM
I don't think so myself. Normally it's good to buy low but I fear for ETH. They are reported to have some major issues in their code that need to be resolved before 2019 and they're also now facing much competition that they didn't previously have.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I Convert My All Coins into Bitcoin or USD? on: September 06, 2018, 08:57:50 AM
What's going on the crypto market? The crypto market keeps bleeding. When will come the good time? My investment, bounty coin hold, everything has become a general amount, where it was big! I can't think what should I do? Because every plan of mine is failed. My hopes, my thoughts are zero now, because this year crypto is giving only panic, not success! I got nothing by hodling my coins! I really hate them who suggested me to hold, hodl!!

What do you think guys? Should I convert my coins into USD to prevent the price falling?

Most alts seem to be near their bottom values. The only real reason for swapping over now would be if you don't have confidence in them long term. I personally would not risk gaining 10-20% when it could mean missing out on 400-500% returns in the future.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tether vs Bitcoin price on: September 06, 2018, 08:56:23 AM
I think in Tether people are just looking to find reasoning and causation which is not there. People like to look for a scapegoat and a lot of times they fall on Tether. There are many reasons why bitcoin price rises and falls and a lot of the time the real reason is that there's no reason at all.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Credits (CS) partners with Lenovo - moon? on: September 04, 2018, 03:12:06 PM
I see that Credits is already having an increase in price of 12% since yesterday, but i don't think that it will moon just because of a partnership. The project needs to show more results before it can increase more in price.

This is a good point, I looked in to it a little after seeing this because a Lenovo partnership is no small partner. That's one of the best partners any cryptocurrency has managed and should be enough to draw some attention. I see that soon they will be showcasing some of their blockchains potential with speeds in excess of 200k TPS on offer. That blows all of the competition out of the park.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If all internet ithe world is destroyed then the crypto will look like? on: September 04, 2018, 03:10:13 PM
crypto can function without the internet but only for so long. If all internet across the world was destroyed then the loss of my crypto investment would be the least of my worries. The world would turn to chaos quickly and safety would be the only concern. It's sad we lasted thousands of years without the internet but now I do not think we could last more than a week.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investment idea and suggestion on: September 04, 2018, 03:08:19 PM
The best place to invest depends on the goals of your investment. For the best chance of profit you should look to bitcoin. Right now is a very good time to invest, the market is low and people are still fearful of further falls in the price. This is exactly the time to be buying as much as you can.
118  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good or bad? 18% of US students own cryptocurrency on: September 03, 2018, 05:11:52 AM
First I'd have to also agree in pointing out the obvious limitations in the sample but assuming that the 18% is true across the globe then it's a mixed bag. While it's positive so many students are invested and you make a good point about them potentially choosing crypto for future investments when their earning potential heightens. It can also be seen as a negative thing because 18% is already quite a high number and leaves less room for new investment.
119  Economy / Economics / Re: The US Dollar has DEBT and Bitcoin has none on: September 03, 2018, 05:06:58 AM
The US dollar does not have debt, the US has debt and the dollar is there choice of currency. Debt is not an issue for a currency in a direct way. Only because often these countries cannot repay their debt so resort to printing money and this in turn leads to inflation.
120  Economy / Economics / Re: Digital Currency Recession on: April 16, 2018, 03:33:17 PM
It's not clear where the market will go from here. It was in a recession as you call it from January through to earlier this month but there are now signs that the market will recover from here. You make good points about many currencies not having a real use, especially the points you make about ripple, they've shown that they have developed good technology and can be successful in convincing banks to adopt it but many do no realise that the ripple currency is not used in this at all. From an economic point of view their coin is a mess and not a sound investment. If you could bet on the tech being successful then it would be logical but not the token that supposedly backs it.
