101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I've learned so far as a gambler on: March 05, 2024, 03:35:59 PM
If you walk into a casino with $200 and you start playing with that $200 and you win $200, get the hell out, you simply just doubled your money, take your goddamn leave, what do you think you wanna do? Win a million dollars? You will go home empty handed.

That is also my strategy; I think that is the wisest strategy to use in gambling. For example, if that budget of yours gets lost, as in 0 balance, then you are done for today. But if you get lucky and double your budget, then you should be done for the day. Greed is one of the reasons why some of the gamblers lost a lot of money, because even though they are winning, they still want more, and that's where they start to lose.

With this strategy, you are eliminating the risk of being greedy since you have already doubled your money, and that should be your stopping point. Also, if you lose all the budget money you have, that should be your stopping point too.

I've used this strategy, and it really works for me. I've accumulated some money using this technique.
102  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you feel excited while gambling on: March 05, 2024, 02:53:11 PM
Sometimes, I also get excited when gambling, especially when I am winning. Like when you are on a roll, that is the time when you are happy because you are seeing good results. But when I am losing, I tend to get angry and feel hopeless. I think that is how gambling works; it is a roller coaster ride, and gambling plays on our emotions. That is how people get addicted to gambling: when they pour their emotions too much into gambling.

For our sake, we should not be pouring out all our emotions, so we'll still be sane. It is very energy-consuming when you are too happy for a moment and then angry and sad after a few seconds. Gambling should be for fun, not to make us stressed.

103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: March 04, 2024, 02:40:12 PM
For me, I always have a goal that I need to reach every day; for example, I need to get $10 a day. When I reach that amount, then I am good for the day. Of course, when gambling, I do have a budget. When I lose all that budget, I am done for the day too.

We should budget and bet according to our finances; we should not bet too large, and we shouldn't chase large winnings. Be patient, bet small, and win small, and those small wins when stacked up together will be large.

Also, as gamblers, we shouldn't be chasing our losses too. I mean, if it is small, then you can recover it, but if it is large, then we should stop chasing it. The more we chase our losses, the more we are inclined toward the past, and it will be much harder to win because, in your mind, you have losses to recover.
104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: March 04, 2024, 02:08:59 PM
In gambling, it requires a mixture of luck and skill, and it varies depending on the game you are playing. Like slots, roulette, or the lottery, these games are mostly determined by chance, so players have very little control over these kinds of games. Meanwhile, poker, blackjack, or sports betting have elements of strategy, decision-making, and knowledge. With this, players have the chance to enhance their odds of success. Even though players have the skill and luck, most of the gambling is structured with a house edge, meaning it ensures that casinos or bookmarkets maintain profit. But even though skill or luck enhances one's probability of winning a game, We still should understand that gambling is still a risk, and we should be responsible when gambling.

105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 03, 2024, 01:11:23 PM
LeBron had a decent performance, but the big factor here is the rebounding area. The Lakers only had 31, while the Nuggets had 47.they

it was still a special game as LeBron reached and surpassed the 40k-point mark. I think he will be able to score even 42k points if next season is the last season of his career.

LeBron breaking records is really fun because we are witnessing history in a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and we should cherish that. Not being a kj here, but the problem with LeBron breaking records is that the Lakers are winning those games. When he breaks Kareem's record against OKC, they lose. Then today, against Denver, they lost again. I am not saying that LeBron is the problem here; I think it is the Lakers' inconsistency. Maybe we can say that some of the Lakers players don't want to exert that much effort in these games because LeBron's record should be the priority, but it should not; they must eye for the bigger prize, which is the trophy.

Also, when was the last time the Lakers won against the Denver? The Lakers are 0-7 against the Denver since the sweep in the Western Conference Finals up to this season. They are getting outcoached once again in the 4th, which is also one of their problems in the WCF.
106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you had this gambling experience? on: March 03, 2024, 12:48:40 PM
I think most of the gamblers have had the same experience. I remember last time I was betting on the NBA, and I have this three-leg parlay that includes the Grizzlies vs. the Clippers. That time, the Clippers were out of sync and not winning games because they had just traded for James Harden and were still figuring things out. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, are somehow a weak team because Ja Morant was still suspended at the time and they are losing games. In my mind, the Grizzlies might win this game because the Clippers were on a 4-game losing streak. It is still risky to bet a large or decent amount of money on that one. Good thing I do have this promo code that was given to me by the gambling app that I am using. So I used it, and then boom, that parlay hit.

The winnings on that parlay are not that big because I just used a promo code, but I am really wondering if I bet a large amount, then that would be an insane amount of money.

In betting, I guess we should not overthink when staking because it might ruin the parlay that we are building. Also, we should just bet a little amount of money, whether it is just a non-sense parlay or a serious one. Win or lose, we still won't regret the bet.
107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports that you don’t watch but you keep placing bets on: March 02, 2024, 01:34:07 PM
Do you have a sports that you keep betting on even though you don’t watch this sports live or you don’t know the full specifications of this game?

In my case, I keep betting on tennis whenever I have spare money on my casino balance from my VIP rewards(Rakeback) after my long game session on live games. I’m not really a fan of sports betting in general but I do place bet randomly on tennis especially the Asian Handicap on live match. I’m always betting on the underdog that already has 1 set advantage to the favorite players. I do this bet just for fun no string attached.

I believe this is the literal definition of “gamble what you can afford to lose”.  Grin

Yes, I do! I remember placing bets on random football games, even though I really don't watch them. I know the teams, but I don't have in-depth knowledge about them, so it is kind of risky to place a bet on them. Also, I placed a bet on basketball somewhere in Europe, but I really do not remember it. But as soon as I wake up, it is a win. It really feels good to win on a bet that you really don't know and that still gives you profit.

I don't do this often, as I don't have the guts to consistently do it. If I do this, I am just tailing someone's bet slip. With a little bit of analysis too from my end and looking at that person's winrate, then I will tail his betslip.

Fortunately, the most of the bet slips I am tailing are winning, so it won't be a problem if I don't really watch the sport I am betting on.
108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: your perception about gambling on: March 02, 2024, 01:02:13 PM
I decided to come up with this topic because of an experience i had yesterday and i decided to bring it here for clarity sake and to see some people's view about it.

There is this notion the society placed on those who gamble or who play all sorts of games ,be it casino,bet9ja,R/S lotto, what, snooker and many others. They often see them as those who don't have what to ,or caliber of individuals who are jobless, a se of people who are not well trained by their parents and many more other names they call them.

i sincerely came up with this topic to find out why they have such views on individuals who voluntarily went to the betting shop to gamble either to win and make a difference or to lose and remain the same way.  This idea actually started when i saw a pastor playing bet9ja after a brief evangelism and one elderly woman made a side comment ( That even man of GOD also play gamble) .

however, my question here now is : is gambling restricted to some certain kind of individuals or class?  or is there any stratification when it comes to playing gambling ?please your opinions here here will actually quench my curiosity.

Gambling is for everyone; it doesn't restrict anyone. Of course, casinos and gambling apps want that because they are getting money from the users; the more users they have, the more money they will have. But still, you need to be age-appropriate to gamble; that is the only thing casinos and gambling apps restrict. Depending on the age restriction, you should comply with that. It doesn't matter if you are unemployed, homeless, or in debt; as long as you are age-appropriate, you can gamble.

On the religion part, I think some of the religions considered gambling bad. The Bible didn't exactly say that "gambling" is forbidden, but gambling is connected to greed, which is one of the seven deadly sins. And when you gamble, greed can take over, which could lead to losing money and getting addicted.

As long as you are controlling yourself and gambling responsibly, I think it is fine. Just don't be addicted and don't ruin your life.
109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: March 01, 2024, 02:55:38 PM
For me, it is more fun to watch with a bet because it gives you a thrill and makes you feel like you are one with the team that you have a bet on. And that's where "gambling is just for fun" comes in. Imagine just watching games without betting; it feels like you are empty because you are just a spectator, waiting for the results. But if you gamble while watching, you are supporting the team that you bet on with a lot of heart and dedication. So for me, it is better to watch with a bet. Also, it is the reason my friend is gambling; he wants the thrill because it is kind of boring just to watch games.

But, of course, be a responsible gambler; don't bet a lot of money just because you want to feel the game. Bet the amount that you are okay to risk, so if the team wins, then okay, you win too. If the team didn't win, then it is fine since it was just a small amount of money. With that, you won't get carried away and get depressed when the team loses.
110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 01, 2024, 02:12:04 PM
What a performance by the San Antonio Spurs, beating OKC. Wemby shows up in the 4th quarter with back to back 3's and then he had a block against Chet, his rival for the rookie of the year. Score is 132-118.

SGA lead the OKC, then climb back in the game after down by 11 and even lead 3 points in the last 8 minutes of the game. But after the time out with 4 minutes left, Wemby was in a mission to not let this game slip away from them. Crowd was so loud that you can't hear the whistle. So great win for them against the 2nd seed Thunder.

If it is against the OKC and Chet, Wemby always takes it personally. He likes the matchup against Chet, and he always delivers and performs his best. I hope they stay healthy throughout the season so we can see this matchup more often, especially in the playoffs. But we still need a few more years to see this matchup in the playoffs, as the Spurs are still in rebuild mode while OKC is now contending.

I think the reason why Wemby is always eager to win and dominate this matchup is maybe because of the disrespect he gets early this season, where people say that Chet is the better player and when Chet wins the Rookie of the Month. Maybe it fuels Wemby to be better, and this is the result. But for me, both of them are the future of the NBA; they are great players in their own way.
111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 29, 2024, 12:48:42 PM
What a comeback by the Lakers to beat their rival in Clippers. Lebron James anchoring the comeback and then just making the right decision in the last 3 minutes or so. Passed to Rui for a 3, to take a 3 point lead. And then the same play on the side for Rui but this time he squeeze in for a reverse. And then to D'Lo for another 3. Although he himself missed a 3 and a drive, he played defense on Kawhi in the last 9 seconds.

And so again their starting five doing much of the damage with Lebron's 34 points, and AD with 20 points.

Kawhi could have tie and force OT if he just hit that fade away, his go to move, but it was short.

In the early part of the game, the Lakers seem uninterested in playing and don't want to win the game. They are getting pounded in the paint, and pick and roll with James Harden is killing them. Also, they are not playing enough D, and shots are not falling. To be honest, I really didn't watch the second half and just took a nap, as I thought that this game was an easy win for the Clips. But as I wake up, I see the Lakers have won the game. Lebron James led the fourth-quarter run and never looked back. My favorite part of the game is the shot of D'Lo in the corner coming from a pass from James. D'Lo didn't even dip the ball; he just caught it and shot it immediately.

My bad, I did not bet on the Lakers for this one. I think the odds for the Lakers reached up to 15? (I'm not really sure.) I was tempted to bet on the first half, but seeing how they played, I didn't continue betting on this game.
112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling still pays regardless of our losses on: February 29, 2024, 12:29:26 PM
I thought this post was about whether the casino or gambling app that you are using is giving you some cashback because you are a loyal player or what. But yes, of course, in gambling, even with a lot of losses, if you are consistent in your betting, you will win. Regardless of how much you lose, if you focus on the win, then it is a great feeling. But still, even though you are not chasing all your losses, be a responsible gambler and still bet the money that you are willing to lose. This tactic might not be effective for others, as some gamblers still count their losses when gambling.

I can see the happiness in your post. Congratulations to you! With great analysis and a little bit of luck, I am sure that you can do it again.
113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: February 28, 2024, 11:36:34 AM
As the gambling industry is evolving, I think innovations would have kicked in that can make someone create a career from gambling. I do not know how this can be achieved but I feel it is possible.

Making gambling a full time job might be seen as risky but I still feel one can make gambling full time job and a career.

What do you all think?

I think you can achieve this if you are one of those people who promotes a specific gambling site or an app. Then you'll get incentives from all the players you've invited, and maybe you can gamble some of those incentives you get. It is a win-win situation because you can get incentives from the players you invited and also from your gambling winnings. If you lose on the gambling, then you can still get incentives.

I know someone who invites players to register and play on this specific app and still gambles.

But if you gamble alone, I think it is much harder to do because gambling is not 100% sure, so you still need to find a cash flow where you can get your money to gamble. Also, if you do sports betting, it is much harder to do because you need to be accurate on your bet if you want gambling to be your full-time job.

The solution to this is that if you want gambling to be a full-time job, You need to have a steady cash flow so you can gamble more. More money means more chances of trying; more chances of trying then mean more chances of winning.
114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: February 28, 2024, 10:59:10 AM
Apparently this is a true live event happened in my State this week and almost everyone is talking about it. About a young man that killed himself after a gamble loss, he even left a message for his family and friends before taking his life.  But I wonder why should someone take his own life  just because he lost  #2.5 million to gambling an amount  equivalent to just about $3k. I can relate to his loss but taking your life is something unimaginable and unjustifiable to do. No matter the regrets suicide isn't an option to be taking as a solution , you are only leaving bigger pains  behind for your loved ones.

This is just another reminder to we all gamblers that no bet is sure and guaranteed, don't ever use an amount of money you are not comfortable to lose just because you feel convicted in your mind that the game will play as predicted. There's no such thing as sure bet in gambling.

Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?

If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.

Poor guy. Prayers are up for him and his family. It is really sad to see someone take their life just because of gambling. We may say that gambling specifically is not the reason why he killed himself. It might be because of depression, but still, gambling is the root cause of his suffering and why he killed himself. This is the reason that we gamblers should be responsible when gambling. Gamble the money you are willing to lose; not because someone is gambling a lot of money, you should too.

The said money is a lot; I think it is his savings. Looking at it, he may have grinded it for a long time, and with a leap of faith, he gambled it. Sadly, he loses it. I think that is one of the reasons why he took his life; after all the hard work, he lost it in a short period of time. Or maybe he loaned some of that money and gambled on it.

Whatever happens, don't kill yourself just because you lose something. There are always second chances in life, and you just need to restart.

115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Single or accumulation, which one do you prefer when it comes to sport betting on: February 27, 2024, 01:12:29 PM
For me, I think it really depends on the set of matches that are available for the day. If there are a lot of games, then maybe go for a parlay so you can hit big with just a small amount of money. If there's few, then maybe go for single betting. Also, gamblers preferences could be a factor.

For me, if you want a high-risk, high-reward type of bet, then go for parlay, as it can give you a lot of profit by betting on multiple games. The downside of this is that if you lose that parlay, your bet is automatically lost, which is kind of frustrating, especially if it is only one game. Single betting, on the other hand, is low-risk but can give you a profit (it really depends on how much you bet). A single bet is more safe because you only have two options: either you lose or you win, a 50-50 chance. Comparing it to a parlay that includes a lot of games, a parlay is more risky than a single bet.

But at the end of the day, it is really up to you. Whatever strategy you use, make sure that it will work for you.
116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: February 27, 2024, 12:43:50 PM
Yes, I believe that patience can be really helpful when you are gambling. I have had the experience of losing just a really small amount of money, but it was not budgeted for my gambling funds; it was for something else. So in order to recover the money that I've lost, I kept patient, waited for the right time to bet, and eventually recovered those funds that I've lost. With a little bit of luck and patience, you can achieve anything you want.

Also, rushing things in gambling is not really my forte; I remember that I bet around 200 dollars just to win around 30 to 40 dollars. I am confident that it will win because I was betting the total over in sports gambling in the NBA, and I know it will win because I chose the smallest amount that they can reach, but still I lost because I didn't hit the point.

So for me, it is a lesson learned. Don't rush things, and don't bet a large amount of money just to get a small profit.
117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: February 26, 2024, 11:25:53 AM
So in weekends in my departmental WhatsApp group, we just randomly talk about soccer bets and sometimes drop a particular game and keep it open for correct score prediction to be made on it, and the first person with the correct score goes home with a data subscription, this has been going on for almost two years now and people have gotten used to it without knowing it.

This is one of the chat I just bumped into by one of us in the group chat and at this point I feel most of my friend have made it compulsory to always gamble every weekend.

Do you see this as addiction or just catching of fun?

Mind you, we just enjoy the moment and might just joke around with people making predictions based on the teams,  they love but we are mostly gamblers at our different ends.

I think it is just one of the members trying to make a joke in your group chat. Because, like you said, you guys are having fun and talking about gambling, so I think one of the members wants to make a joke. Looking at it, it really looks like a joke, but if you want to take it seriously, then you should be ready for the consequences that will happen to you if you do it. But seriously, don't take a loan and then gamble with the money you just borrowed. Life will hit you so hard if you lose the money you borrowed just because you gambled and took the risk of doubling it. Taking a risk is fine, but do it with caution and proper thinking.

If the one who sent that is serious about that, then maybe he is really addicted to gambling and has experience loaning some money and trying to gamble on it. Don't be like that, and be a responsible gambler.
118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling games that gives you an exciting experience on: February 26, 2024, 10:35:56 AM
What is your favorite gambling game and what are the reasons that made you prefer it over the rest?

I gamble mostly on sports like football and basketball. Basketball, especially the NBA, and some leagues that I am familiar with, like the PBA, CBA, KBL, and B-League, I bet on that because it is a sport that I know and am familiar with. At least if I bet on something, I want it to be familiar to me so I can analyze it. So if ever I lose, I won't regret it because I know that my bet has a chance, and I am the one who thinks about my bet.

I rarely bet on casino games because I always think that I might lose more on them. At the back of my head, I am still thinking that some of these games are rigged, and I don't want to risk my money on that. At least on sports betting, my low bet has a chance to hit big.

But if my money is limited or it is my last money, I'll play some casino games just to spend it. If I win, then thanks; if I don't, then it is okay.
119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: February 25, 2024, 12:54:10 PM
Yes, Gambling addiction has strained a lot of relationships through financial instabilities emotional turmoil, social isolation, and family problems. Gambling which was meant to be a popular kind of entertainment for many and was designed to provide a temporary escape from everyday life and also help one to be more observant mentally task your brain and it is also good for your mental brain. When it becomes an addiction it causes financial strain the strain can manifest in various ways including the loss of shared savings, debt accumulation, and financial secrecy which may lead to strained communication between partners. This communication breakdown can prevent couples, friends, and associates from working together.

Just don't get into gambling that much, don't give it too much attention, and don't put all your emotions into it. If you continue doing it, you could develop an addiction to it, and sure, it could destroy some of your relationships. For example, if your wife or girlfriend says that you are spending too much on gambling and it affects your daily life, maybe it is a sign to stop gambling. Getting addicted to it may cause you mental and emotional stress; if it is not handled very well, you may lose some of your friends. Always gamble responsibly.

Yes, you are right that gambling can be a temporary escape, but still, it should not be your priority; that is not your real life. What is more important are your friends, families, and loved ones.

Always gamble with the amount of money that you are willing to lose, so that you won't invest too much and will not care if you lose. This will keep you sane.
120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 25, 2024, 12:27:16 PM
Saw this game, and didn't watch it TBH.
I just saw on YouTube the scuffle in the final seconds of the game. Looks like the so-called "UNWRITTEN RULE" has been broken again. I can't think of any reason why Bridges and Grant Williams would fight against that shot when there is still time. I mean I know that it's a win for the Warriors already, but there's still time. Any opinion on that unwritten rule they created?
Players are too sensitive with just 2 points. If you don't want to be blown out then play defense.
This "unwritten rule" of the players should have a punishment in the books. It's simple, they are too sensitive about being score 2 or 3 more points, and yet it's all their fault for not playing better. I am against that rule of them. GSW simply doesn't want another turnover and Bridges blocked it so I guess he is still playing ball despite the time running out. But what he did after was unacceptable, and then Grant Williams joined the scuffle like he was an old Hornet player. That was just surprising, I bet he just wanted a fight. Cheesy
The NBA needs a rule to counter the unwritten rule so it won't happen again. Play the game until the buzzer sounds. If not, then let the other team score as much as they like.

Players find it "disrespectful" if the winning team still wants to score even though they are up by, for example, 20 points in the last few minutes or seconds. If you are up by a lot of points, why score a point if it won't move a needle and you will still win? That is what the player on the losing team thinks. On the other hand, the winner might not want to run the clock out because it will cause a turnover for them, and it will be written in the statistics. Both sides do have their point.

But for me, I am not really a fan of it either. If the winning teams want to score, then play defense or let them shoot; it doesn't matter; they still lose, so why care about 2 points? And you are right; it is also their fault that they are down by a lot of points, so them getting angry about something like that is really weird because if they played great defense, then they wouldn't reach that point.

But who knows? Maybe some of the players are betting total under or don't want the points spread to get large.  Grin
