101  Economy / Lending / Re: Medium Loan Request - 10-15% Interest, 30-45 days, Collateral and Escrow on: November 02, 2014, 08:47:45 AM
Can you be more specific as to what collateral you are offering? It is obviously alt coins, but can you be more specific as to what alt coin you can provide?

EDIT: @Watoshi-Dimobuto - escrow is to protect the borrower from you running away with his collateral either as soon as he gives it to you (and before you send him the loan) or after he pays you back.

I sent you a pm - certain details are confidential, but we are free to post here confirmations for public records when deals are sealed.
What is the collateral if I were to lend entire amount?

PM Sent. Verification and public disclosure to follow in case of deal being sealed.

Offer still on going.
Why does it need to be such a big secret as to what the collateral you are going to offer is? Also I see in your other thread from ~a month ago that you would not agree to have the collateral liquidated in the event the value of the collateral were to drop below the amount of the loan. This alone would be a red flag for me (even with your positive trust) as it would mean that you may not be able to repay the loan if the collateral drops in value by too much
102  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] Bitcoins with PayPal (escrow/going first) 15% Above Spot Rate on: November 02, 2014, 08:40:51 AM
It defeats the purpose of using escrow if you are going to be paying with paypal. The only exception to this would be if the escrow would hold the coins for at least 6 months.

I would suggest withdrawing your paypal into your bank account and then withdrawing cash from your bank and then offering to buy bitcoin at the bitstamp rate. You will have likely saved a good $150 even after taking the costs associated with sending funds to your buyer
I'm just doing it out of convenience, nothing more. It's not urgent nor is it needed for my survival, it would just be nice getting it out of my account.
I could use bank, but WF isn't exactly the most supportive bank for me.

If anyone is kind enough to do it, again, more than willing to go first and any payment types/notes more than happy to do to your satisfaction Smiley
You will probably not be able to find a seller that is willing to take on the risk of accepting paypal. It has been years since paypal has been an acceptable way of buying bitcoin. You will be able to find a buyer much quicker by simply withdrawing your money to your bank and offering to pay via western union (like you did in your other buying thread). You will probably even be able to find someone who is willing to fund escrow and lock in a price today while waiting for you to get your money out of PP and into cash form.

well, if you send first, and can wait for 6 month, then I'll be happy do this transaction. you get your coin after 6 month.
how about that. ? $1,250 is 4 bitcoin.
i hope you are joking, because this alone makes me want to give you a negative trust.
Stupid.
Its called being safe. You can reverse funds for 6 months on PayPal. You are sketchy and thus he wants to protect himself.
I am not prepared to put my funds in someone elses control for 6 months, especially a junior member with no trust.
I am pretty sure he was suggesting that the coins be held in escrow until the time that the pp transaction can be disputed has elapsed
103  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best Hyip Investments 800% of your Investment after 48 hours on: November 02, 2014, 08:35:10 AM
This is type 3 ponzi (my classification)

It is a type which never pays out even if you were the first investor.
I don't disagree with your conclusion as to what they will do with funds received from 'investors' however this is not what a ponzi is. A ponzi is something that will use new funds to pay older investors. What the OP is describing/offering is likely nothing more then a scam
104  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloudhashing without proof of mining [poll] on: November 02, 2014, 08:31:58 AM
Gawminers, LTCgear and PBmining are the noticeable absentees. I am almost sure that LTCgear is a short term ponzi, don't see it giving such a huge returns for a long time.
Both GAW and PBmining are spending a large amount of money in advertising and have been in business for a long time (while active on this forum). I would argue that if either of these companies were a ponzi they would have collapsed by now. LTCgear has has an online presence for <1 year however not on this forum (I think), plus people who are vouching for them always have an affiliate link which is also suspicious.

You should also be able to trace any payouts received through a short number of "hops" through the blockchain to find a coinbase TX of a found block
105  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are hashlets worth it? on: November 02, 2014, 08:24:01 AM
No, cloud mining are significantly more expensive than home mining. They wouldn't be renting their hardware to users if they are actually profitable. Unlike Cex.io, cloudhashing and various other cloudmining companies, they do not have proof that their hardware are actually running. Even if they have proof that their hardware are mining, you won't be making any ROI.
All that you would need to do to verify proof that any cloud mining company actually is mining (GAW hashlets included) is to buy a small amount of mining capacity, then wait until you have enough to earn a payout, request/receive a payout, then trace the source of the payout via the blockchain. There should be somewhat of a short path to a coinbase transaction from a found block (that is somewhat new). There is your proof that they are actually mining
106  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What can you say about Cloud Mining? on: November 02, 2014, 08:18:19 AM
I don't think that this is profitable, My friend has invested around $5k into extensive mining because he gets free electricity and he says that BTc difficulty is very high and CEX is overpriced, so no profit sadly. Sad
I invested 2.86btc in a miner in July and have already made 2.6 back. Only a few more weeks til I turn a profit. I have free electricity too.
Saddly your BTC is now worth much less than in July Sad
When you are measuring the profitability of a miner (or a cloud miner) you should always measure it in terms of bitcoin, not in terms of fiat. If the price of bitcoin changes from when you purchased the miner then that is not something that was caused by the miner. If you have ROI in terms of bitcoin but the price of bitcoin went down then you would have been worse off had you not purchased the miner as you would have less bitcoin
107  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty slowdown: Is this turning into a long-term trend? [Discussion Thread] on: November 02, 2014, 08:14:38 AM
Seems like the difficulty slowdown...

...  just stopped slowing down.
The spike in hashrate could very well be "good luck" by the overall network. We don't know for sure that additional mining capacity was actually added to the network.

I would speculate that since the price of bitcoin has been overall declining for some time now that less and less additional miners are going to be added to the network
108  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Cloud mining services? on: November 02, 2014, 08:12:01 AM
Avoid LtcGear. They are -854 sales on their most expensive mining contracts for 160mh/s. They went from $9,000 product to $1,800 then with the code that makes them $900. Also, if you figure 900 x 854, they have around $800,000 customer's money with no show of service. Granted it looks waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy very very good get the $$$ ROI so nice super quick you can't lose omg free money. Yeah right, believe that one too many times and you might find yourself on the street   Roll Eyes
I agree. I have visited the LTCgear website and it looks very sktechy to me. They have a "base" price that is several times above what other cloud mining services offer but the prices are heavily discounted to be below what you would pay at other mining sites.

Not only that but all of a sudden there are many users that have randomly popped up out of no where all wearing their affiliate link on their signature.

I would say they are almost certainly going to be a scam
109  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is this good? on: November 02, 2014, 08:08:04 AM
Looks accurate for desktop and laptop hashrates, however with hashrates like that it isn't worth running. You won't ever make anything with those kinds of speeds mining Bitcoin.
I don't think this is a traditional computer mining, AFAIK there is not any desktop that can mine in excess of 100 MH/s, I don't think that even a GPU rig could mine at these speeds. I would speculate the OP is using an ASIC from the very early days of ASICs
110  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have 50 000$ to invest and i dont need to pay electricity for bitcoin mining on: November 02, 2014, 08:04:44 AM
What do you think should i Invest and how much money will i make per day If i dont pay electricity !! I dont need to pay electricity in my country at all what kind of hardware should i buy and how much will I earn for day

Well, you can buy from Bitmaintech. Their price is pretty good for the hash they produce. Btw, which country don't need to pay electricity bills?
I would say that the OP is not in a specific country that does not charge for electricity (although some middle eastern countries may be able to provide free electricity due to oil exports). It is more likely the OP has his electric bill a flat rate that is included in his rent or other similar setup.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road bitcoin auction - Australian edition on: November 02, 2014, 08:02:49 AM
Seized BTC24,500 to be auctioned. This time in Australia.
--snip--
I think it is interesting that the amount law enforcement in Melbourne seized from one seller was so close to the amount that the FBI was able to seize from Ross via SR when he was arrested.

I would speculate that some sellers/vendors on SR were essentially hoarding bitcoin and were paying out of their own pocket (or were also selling on the "street" and using these profits) to pay for the inventory that was sold on SR.

Even if they were a huge vendor/seller this is a lot to have seized for just one seller when basically the same amount was seized from SR
112  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Help me relay a double-spend transaction on: November 02, 2014, 07:33:53 AM
Can anybody push this tx? I have signed it. I am trying to double spend the tx I spend earlier, brainwallet removed the fees when I sent it. I will give some BTC to you for pushing. I tried online services like Blockchain, Eligius and btc.blockr.io . Thanks in advance!

You will probably need to wait 24~ hours for the previous TX to be 'forgotten' by the nodes mempool. You also have the possibility that your TX will get confirmed despite the no fee attached
113  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: too good to be real? on: November 02, 2014, 07:23:06 AM
Use your common sense. That guy created a LBC account a day ago, and looking to trade for several thousands. You also have to fund escrow before the trade starts, so have you considered that he can just lock up your BTC for days? Sure he might be banned afterwards, but it's not hard to make another account with ZERO trades.
Not only this but you have to remember the fact that there is always the chance that something will go wrong with the LBC escrow service (either he attempts to hack your account, you accidentally release escrow, or something happens internally) that releases escrow to him. You also need to take into consideration the fact that he may deposit counterfeit bills into your bank account or do something else that would allow him to reverse the transaction
114  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any Withdrawal From BTC to Cash WITHOUT BANK????? on: November 02, 2014, 07:17:23 AM
LocalBitcoins.com that is the only way to keep the middle man out of your pocket
You will likely end up paying much higher "trading fees" (in that the price will be much worse then what you could otherwise get) then if you were using an exchange and withdrawing your money to your bank account when you trade via LBC (unless you act as a liquidity provider)

116  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Opinions? Bitcoin with Credit Card on: November 02, 2014, 06:44:10 AM
I don't think it is a very good idea to be selling such large amounts of bitcoin and accepting credit card payments. You are just asking to get scammed, plus your short window in which you will release the bitcoin will not give you enough time to be able to realistically gauge the risk of a particular transaction
117  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Confirmation on Anush3070 "The Biggest Scammer" on: November 02, 2014, 05:19:15 AM
Those logs in that format are pretty useless for proof. Easily edited to say whatever and I don't bother to read them anymore. You need to post more concrete proof.
This is why it is dangerous to use skype when dealing with someone you do not know and have never dealt with before. You will have no way to prove it when (not if) you get scammed.

If you deal with PMs on the forum then you can report the PMs to a mod who can then verify the PMs or can allow a trusted member to have access to your account who can look at and verify any PMs
118  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Financial Crisis scenarios on: November 02, 2014, 04:53:40 AM
A full blown Ebola epidemic in the US or Europe would send the price of bitcoin skyrocketing. Not that i am rooting for it in any way shape or form but its a very interesting situation that i am keeping my eye on.

I don't see an Ebola epidemic happening, especially in the US.
Ebola isn't that contagious. Smiley
Ebola can only be transmitted in a small number of ways (only via bodily fluids) however it is very well possible to transmit it when you do not know for sure that you have it, or that you have been exposed to it.

EDIT: It is likely that even a small ebola scare will cause economic devastation throughout the country as people will be afraid to even go outside. I am sure that TX is not doing well economically
119  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Bitfinex Credit Bubble cannot end well on: November 02, 2014, 04:51:47 AM
Massive short covering seems to have happened. Still, 11k is substantial.
This massive amount of short positions is important however we will not see a short squeeze unless we see a major uptick in the price of bitcoin first as people with short positions can simply roll over their short position
120  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US economy going up or down? on: November 02, 2014, 04:47:10 AM
Is very interesting to notice that majority of bearish opinions come from US, while majority of bullish opinions are overseas.

The main drive for this is the shale oil revolution, which is being minimized in the public channels so US can take a huge leap forward. Meanwhile, EuroFlowers go riot because they think shale is going to poison the Milky Way.

The second drive is that while in Euroland, Russia and LatAm are driving towards a neo-socialism (which means rigid labour, low productivity, subsidies and general misery) US and some Asian countries are still waving the business friendly flag.

As some pointed here, Stock Market is useless. Its pretty disconnected from reality since 2010. But you will live much better the next 10 years in USA than in any euro country, thats a fact. And im under the blue starred flag...  Undecided

Stock market is a useless barometer because of QE, but I guess at some point it is going to have to reflect ground reality. There will be a bloodbath when the correction occurs.
I agree that QE had somewhat distorted stock prices, (you should note that even now that QE is completed the stock market is continuing to hit record highs) it is not a 100% useless barometer of the health of the US economy. One thing you can look at is corporate earnings (which also influences stock prices) and by this measure the economy is doing very well.
