101  Other / Archival / Re: Is there way to correct merit given by mistake? on: February 14, 2018, 11:07:07 AM
Question above. I have send merit by mistake I should give 1 merit for a post but I had sent 10 instead.
There is no option to do that. It is hard to believe that you send 10 instead of 1 . As it opens a new window and that is kind of confirmation being asked. May be someone from the staff sees this and makes the necessary correction.
102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long Bitcoin can survive in cryptocurency industry ? on: February 14, 2018, 11:04:43 AM
It will survive forever. Even if the prices have dropped quite a lot in past few months, people are still investing. I think the prices have stabilized and thus investments are more safe. We need to work on two things to increase the life of bitcoins- bitcoin transaction fees and transfer time.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wow - fees too high! on: February 14, 2018, 11:02:44 AM
I will be happy as the Bitcoin transaction fees are now coming down. This is much needed requirement for it to survive it in long run. It should be used worldwide as mode of payment and we need lower fees for that.
104  Economy / Speculation / Re: how do you predict the bitcoin price in the month of March? on: February 14, 2018, 10:59:16 AM
how do you predict the bitcoin price in the month of March?

By March end it should reach at least $15000. If it fails to do so, I do not think that we will see the $40000 mark this year. Media coverage will be tremendous when it crosses the $20000 mark. You should invest before that and you will get double in 3-4 months.
105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to Millionaire! on: February 14, 2018, 10:57:49 AM
Great chance to buy bitcoin more and more now, price has been roaming around 8600-8700 since yesterday, proof that its going up from now, no more going down.

To become millionaire with bitcoins at current levels, you need to invest huge amount like $100000 or so. I do not have that much amount and thus I am investing some money per month. I am actually relying on some alt coins for that purpose as they can give results quickly.
106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Revolution ? on: February 14, 2018, 10:55:57 AM
many projects in crypto like to use this word "revolution" in it's advertising, but mostly it just for getting  the hard cap)))
suppose we will see kind of a combo economy for the first time, and the who knows...

Don't get carried way by the marketing campaigns. Apply your mind and give some time researching about the people and concept behind that coin. I do not invest in coins that do not come with any additional advantage over Bitcoin.
107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bloomberg Intelligence: the price of bitcoin could fall to $ 900 on: February 14, 2018, 10:54:35 AM

The strategist for commodities of the analytical division of Bloomberg Intelligence Mike McGlone believes that the probability of a 90% drop in bitcoine prices in the conditions of uncontrolled supply growth in the market is quite high.

90% drop will take a lot of time to take place even if this is true. Now, I think prices are already stabilized as we have seen it moving in $7000-$8000 range for last 2 months. I do not think there is any reason for Bitcoin to drop to that level in any time recently.
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it not discourage the growth of bitcoin? on: February 14, 2018, 10:52:54 AM
Bitcoin paying campaigns are missing for a long time now. Do we think it will contribute to discouraging the awareness of bitcoin?
Whats our thoughts?

There are a lot of campaigns currently that pay in Bitcoins. There are some running for years and still open to new participants (like 777 coin). And this forum is not the only source of information regarding Bitcoins.
109  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 14, 2018, 10:35:35 AM
Well even I am getting envious of other members here receiving such merits BUT the fact that many members especially the Jr.members ranking up shows that the new system really effective.

It is easier for a Jr Member to become a member because of two reasons:

1) They need only 10 points which can achieved with just 2-3 extremely well written posts.

2) Most of the senior members are giving preference to these members. You can see threads where members offered giveaways for new members only.
110  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 14, 2018, 10:33:36 AM
I was a bit dissapointed when I at last got activity level high enough to be full member but then they had just added this merit system so now it feels impossible to become a full member. How can I actually get more merit? I don't Think anyone ever will give me that for free...

Can I get merit by joining Bounty Campaigns? Or should a make tutorials or something else? Don't understand what is required to earn merit?

1) You get merit points for making quality posts here. You can check posts getting good merit points here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats. Learn and post accordingly.

2) You should not try buying merit points as it will result in negative trust.

3) There are more than 141 pages of content related to merit system. If you read it carefully, you will not need  a tutorial.

All the best.
111  Other / Meta / Re: People & the merit system on: February 14, 2018, 10:31:04 AM
I just do not understand what they actually want.
The merit system incites people to make high quality posts, even though some qualified people are not getting any merit points and they are not complaining about it.
No offense, but you, complainers, just want to rank up to enroll in signature campaigns.

There is no problem if a member wants to participate in signature campaigns. Now that we have merit system, he will have to prove his worth to get a shot. Best thing is that it will benefit the forum as we can expect to see quality posts here. If members do more research before making the replies, we can expect detailed answers that can result in improved search engine rankings.
112  Other / Meta / Re: Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit on: February 14, 2018, 10:28:41 AM
OMG, I'm a newbie and  I've just found out 'bout 'trading' merit.

but, my question is.. are there any rules and punishment 'bout it? can it cause an account to be banned?

Some senior members gave negative trust to members involved in abuse of merit system (awarding merit points to low quality posts). No one was banned though. It is hard to find the buying and selling of merit points especially if someone is buying 1-2 merit points from multiple accounts. If you notice such threads in other forums, you can report here.
113  Other / Meta / Re: Chances of signature campigns being removed from this forum on: February 14, 2018, 10:25:27 AM
There are quite a few factors involved in valuing advertising. Impressions are not really all that useful, what you need to know are the clickthrough rates, and the visits that result in sales. Second and third page hits and revisits are probably the most useful of the metrics, but only the advertisers know those stats. Most of the members posting here seem to be short of money, and are unlikely to be of value to advertisers. The bulk of the posts are of very low quality, and therefore are unlikely to stimulate buying actions in visitors to the site.

Improving the quality of the threads, and the addition of good commercial discussions should attract higher value views, and this could lead to an increase in potential revenue.

In my opinion, it is very much complicated. I am not encouraging people making shit posts but you can find these campaigns getting some traffic and clicks through keywords made on some of those shit posts as well. Obviously, the campaigns are benefiting from the process as we have some that have continued for years.

Improving the quality of forum is required for getting direct advertisement deals. If a advertiser stats evaluating the quality of posts being made here, he might not be comfortable paying for direct advertisements here.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin banned on: February 13, 2018, 03:24:06 PM
I do not understand how can  a country ban Bitcoins. We have international exchanges taking payments from all over the world. Even if they ban all the exchanges in their country, people will but BTC from those exchanges.
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your crypto? on: February 13, 2018, 03:22:26 PM
I mostly mine and hodl, but my friend day trades and says I should start getting into it. What do you prefer to do and do you think there is a better route to take? I personally think it's all up to personal preference, I'm new though.

I have bought very less crypto with money. Most of the crypto I have got is for a service I used to provide online in 2014. I was lucky that the client was paying in BTC and I took the offer as I thought that this will be additional cash lying as investment. I think I made the right decision.
116  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 13, 2018, 03:17:49 PM
Hi people!
I have enough activity to change my rank.
But now we need to have 500 Merit.

I have no idea where to get it. Where I write the answers in the topics, there are many beginners.
Now and for 10 years you can not get this amount.
Very disappointing.

With this attitude, it will not happen in 10 years also. Try to improve so that you can increase the chances. Also, be glad that you were able to achieve higher rank before the merit system was introduced.
117  Other / Meta / Re: Control shitposters/spammers in this forum with this simple trick. on: February 13, 2018, 03:15:26 PM
I have a suggestion to our dearest admin or moderators about the increasing problem of shitposters/spammers here in this forum. How about banning accounts that currently shitposts atleast ten per account on international or english boards? As a concerned member of the community I think this idea might lessen shitposters and spammers in the said boards in this Bitcoin community since these kind of people will not stop spreading trash and contribute nothing but shits just to be paid in signature campaigns. I was once a shitposter too but then I realize I need improvements and I think I did it already and hopefully these shitposters/spammers will be doing the same thing too. What I did right now is finding ways on how I can contribute for the good of this community and I think this is how it begins.

Some of those members are banned sometimes. But this will not solve the problem, they will start trying the same with other accounts. The current change which was done has allowed moderation of all accounts here without much interference from the staff.
118  Other / Meta / Re: Prepare yourself to compromised account on: February 13, 2018, 03:13:54 PM
By reading your thread, I thought that you were going to challenge us with your hacking skills. Glad that you shared tips on how to protect the account here. One thing I would like to ask here is that has the forum owner done something for additional security after that leak incident happened. I mean if something of similar sort happens again, it will be hard for the staff to restore the accounts based on messages received from different members with the archive link.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 19 year old millionaire advice on Bitcoin on: February 08, 2018, 04:37:05 PM
People who invested in Bitcoins in 2010-11 were very lucky. Also, as a teenager he must be having a lot of patience to keep the Bitcoins as prices kept rising.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Hackable? on: February 08, 2018, 04:35:10 PM
Yes, there are chances of this happening. A lot of exchanges were hacked by hackers and some even shut down due to this.
