81  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 23, 2018, 07:18:55 PM
you are very right, not all good post will get merit.
because I think people are too stingy to give merit, they choose to hoard their merit until it becomes rotten.
here merit is given based on likes or dislikes, not about useless or useless.
I do not know, I can only obey this rule.

Some suggestions for you:

1) Just look at the way you formatted the answer. Even if you post something constructive, it will appear irritating with such a format.

2) You need to check the merit stats page, you will realize that daily hundreds of merits are being given to deserving members.

3) You may be right about members giving merits to posts they agree with. Admin stated that members should not do this but I think the system is new and we should give it some time before members get used to it. Also, do not forget that there are merit sources who are expected to be more responsible with sending merits.

83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without Bitcoin, Life Will Be Boring! on: February 23, 2018, 07:05:09 PM
I was thinking if bitcoin will ban from every country if bitcoin will vanish one day then what will happen? I got my Answer, Without Bitcoin, my life will be so boring! Now, I spend almost 7 to 8 hours behind bitcoin and bitcointalk, I love it, I enjoy my time. But if bitcoin dies! I can't imagine  Embarrassed

What will happen to you if bitcoin will die  Cry

(Long Life Bitcoin, We will go to the mars again very soon)

My suggestion to you is that do not get addicted to this. Bitcoin should be seen as a investment medium and nothing else. There are other important things in life like family and hobbies. If you are taking care of those, you can dedicate remaining time to money rated matter. It is hard to get so much time left after a regular job. Also, are you doing this full time ? If you are into this full time, I suggest you to research about alt coins and invest in them as well. This will ensure that you have your investments diversified and will not affect you in case something drastic happens to bitcoin prices.
84  Other / Meta / Re: Is merit need to improve forum position? on: February 23, 2018, 01:55:48 PM
Is there any other way to improve forum position without merit? If have any way, please suggest.

There is one of the easiest system in my opinion. Just remove all the bounties from this forum. Then members who are inflating post counts will just go away from this forums. Any forum faces spam just only because the poster thinks that he will get monetary benefit with the post.
85  Other / Meta / Re: Some confusions regarding "Merit system" on: February 23, 2018, 01:54:17 PM
This is the true statement, but the thing is that these actions aren't done automatically, so this is just half true.

In the real world scenario if for instance, you got 10 merit from person with -37 trust for just a general post (nothing amazing) that most likely will mark you as "cheater" by hands of admins. Therefore in close future, the unwanted trust could come. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that this applies to one hundred percent of cases, but I saw few with my eyes, so I can say for sure.

Do not spread rumors. There is nothing like that. If someone is trying to get your account banned by giving you merits for a useless posts, you can report such and thing and get it removed. Whole account history will be taken into consideration after your appeal.
86  Other / Meta / Re: How To Get Merit ? So Fast on: February 21, 2018, 05:22:54 AM
someone, can anyone teach / sharing about how to get merit quickly?
and is there anyone here to give me merit? haha just kidding Grin Grin

Not sure about the merit part but you became a good example of how get negative trust so fast. A good lesson for members thinking on the same line.
87  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bounties for newbies!! on: February 21, 2018, 05:18:23 AM
Actually rank does not mean anything for translation and social media campaigns, it matters only for signature.

Just go to not very popular ICOs and offer them your translating service for free - that is how you can fulfill your portfolio with works.

You are wrong. If you were at the buyers position, who will you give more preference to- a newbie or an established member ? Dealing with a newbie can be a headche as he might be be aware of rules or in worst case can be a scammer.
88  Other / Meta / Re: 50+ merit rewards on: February 21, 2018, 05:13:03 AM
I posted to suggest another possibility. Human nature manifests itself in a variety of forms. Smiley

I believe the answer is to restrict merit awards to a maximun of 2 at a time, or possibly 5, but certainly no more than that.
This is definitely needed. Merits are limited and there is huge competition for merits. I think merit sources are aware of the fact that they need to spend merits carefully. But members are sending in bulk.
89  Other / Meta / Re: Charge for merit !!!!!!! on: February 21, 2018, 05:08:39 AM
This is the result of new merit system. I think merit system should be withdrawn and instead of merit adding system I think demerit system may be introduced which will be given to bad posts. The merit system might be left as it was.
Thank you

No need to withdraw merit system for this. Just punishing that member will be sufficient. Suppose a country passed a law to avoid tax evasions. Some person tries to cheat and make advantage of that law. Will the country take back its law or punish that person ?
90  Other / Meta / Re: The big advantage of the merit points system on: February 21, 2018, 05:03:44 AM
I have had a very similar experience with the merit I have been awarded. And because of that its just so tempting to keep coming back to the meta section and post to get a few merits. Honestly its like crack, you just have to get your fix and then you can get back on with your life and post in other sections and try to do something to better the forum.

It leaves me in two minds really. On one hand clogging up a thread about the merit system by posting about my views/experiences isnt the worst, but on the other I'd prefer not to start a new thread as there is a genuine clog on the meta page (that said i do think that this thread poses an interesting take on an experience with the system and is worthwhile).

Oh god, I just realised I'm here shooting up again.

My experience also says that getting merit in meta section is way easier. To get merit in sections like bitcoin discussion, you have to post an exceptional thread and then do something to get that post noticed.
91  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 21, 2018, 05:01:12 AM
Mates is there's a way to delete merit given? How it is?
There is no way to delete this. When sending merits, a new page opens up. Thus, you cannot give a member merit by mistake.
92  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies are struggling to level up their account on: February 21, 2018, 04:58:47 AM
But I will assume that the merit sources is lacking to execute their duty, and maybe one of the reason is spammers are already built their empire in this forum, the great barrier to stop the vision of the good team.

What is this assumption based on ? Your personal experience. You have posted only 4 posts till now (at the time of this post being written). There are members adding a lot of quality posts and still not complaining. If you check the merit stats page carefully, your assumption will vanish.
93  Other / Archival / Re: Is it allowed to use alt that has your main account name? on: February 21, 2018, 04:55:05 AM
I have DarkStar_alt, and have had it for nearly 2 years now, so I'm going to say no. You might get a negative trust that mirrors the current negative trust you have though.
Sorry if it sounds rude but why is your account not having negative trust ? Is there any privilege for senior members ?
94  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Data from 315 Bitcoin Paying Signature Campaign Participants on: February 21, 2018, 04:51:52 AM
You did a great job but I think this is too early to draw conclusions. This data involves a lot of suspicious use of merits like  this:
In the bitvest campaign, there is a member:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1038148

As per his merit summary, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1038148 , he got 18 from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1223911 and then sent 6 to him. The post he gave 6 merits was: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2099052.msg28906993#msg28906993

There will be a lot of such cases in this data.

97  Other / Meta / Re: A summon to all native or non native English speakers. on: February 17, 2018, 01:01:43 PM
Since there are numerous people who do not speak English very well and who make grammar and spelling mistakes, I would want from you guys to correct anything you see unsuitable.

For instance, if someone makes a post which has many errors, including lack of information, why not correct him so he can avoid making the mistake again so he can improve the quality of his posts in the future?

Perhaps people are not aware that they are making mistakes. But either way, if they read the proper correction, they might make an acceptable post.
And of course, you should not be rude while correcting him.

For example, you should not call him "Stupid, that is not how to say the statement...."
We do not want to be grammar nazis.

I have seen some members correcting the mistakes but it makes no difference to person posting that content. I think it takes time to improve writing skills and grammar. We cannot do much if the person is not willing to put some effort from his side. Regarding, not using bad words for them, I agree with you on that part.
98  Other / Meta / Re: Adding a "Likes" Points System to Complement the Merit System? on: February 17, 2018, 12:58:32 PM
On this note I would like to suggest an additional complementary system of sorts, where say every member has a certain weekly quota of X 'like' credits, which will expire at the end of the week if unused (and reallocated the next again). Because of the (i) expiration and (ii) weekly quota refresh tagged to such credits, members are much less likely to hoard them. Different member tiers could possibly be allocated different amounts of like credits, if higher-ranked members are presumably believed to be 'better' judges of content, on average.

This can be abused by account farmers. They will create accounts in bulk and use all those weekly like credits for 1-2 account.

I sincerely believe having some form of complementary channel for rank-up will help ease some of the tension between old/new members simply due to the challenge of ranking up and will prove beneficial for btctalk over the longer-term. For comments or views, pls.

Giving members another way to rank up (which is full of loopholes) will make the merit system useless. I do not think we need this.
99  Economy / Economics / Re: Do we need regulations? on: February 14, 2018, 11:13:06 AM
How do you guys think? Do we need regulations in the crypto world? Should only ICO be regulated or legit coins (not "security tokens") too? Can we implement regulations mechanisms in code so that corrupted governmental institutions couldn't manipulate the industry? Can we still have free market with governments' regulations across the world?

Please, share your thoughts. I'm a bit confused about what's happening right now.

If there are regulations, prices will stabilize. This means that you will not see massive drops like 20-30% in a day. This also means that you will not see so much profit which will make it very much like shares/stocks. If you ask my opinion, I am in favor of regulations as it will make the investments safer.
100  Other / Meta / Re: People & the merit system on: February 14, 2018, 11:10:04 AM
There are very few merit sources in the forum but the members are too huge in number.

Most of them do not deserve any merit points. They will realize soon and will stop posting here.

Merit system is the hot new topic in the forum.
taking advantage of that, everyone is talking only about merit system.
take a look.
Since the merit system is launched the number of posts and comments in the Meta discussion is increased.
Someone criticizing merit system,
Someone appreciate merit system.

This is due to a number of reasons. First is that the official announcement thread has not been made sticky. It gets lost in the pool of these new threads about merit system. Second is that some members log in many days after and notice this feature for first time.
