We at EMC2 want to clarify the announcement. The most important part of our foundation is our community. We would like to clarify that the excitement about Apple, or NASA did not came from the team. We would push it as far as on one of our tweets saying “The announcement is not about Apple at this time” was responded to saying “How great would it be if it’s about Apple”. Needless to say we are sorry that you do not feel that the news was sufficient enough. We would also like to clarify the reason why we said the announcement was mind blowing. These are the reasons we felt it would be this important.
We are changing our mining algorithm. What does that mean for you? Instead of large ASIC companies leading the way with mining we have decided to give that feature back to the community by focusing on GPU systems. This way millions of people across the world in all walks of life can have the opportunity to be profitable with EMC2 instead of just waiting in line behind big business. This is your coin, we don’t want to count on any large mining operation to make sure we thrive. We see the value on making it possible for anyone from an early teen getting into crypto, to a retired adult to trying to earn income. We truly believe in the “decentralized” concept and don’t want to just be another coin talking about it.
We have never been closer to our BTM partnerships and will be a leading coin in atm withdrawals in the near future. We believe that making EMC2 ready for mainstream adoption is more important than any in-house crypto release.
We are expanding our team to ensure EMC2 stays ahead of the curve in the future of crypto. We want to build a coin that will ensure a good future for our holders and investors and not turn into just another coin on the list.  Einsteinium Fork 2 Announcement – Mining Algorithm Change Einsteinium Foundation has decided to change the mining algorithm of our coin to make it ASIC resistant and GPU friendly. We are in the process now of partnering with a company to create miners and the new algorithm. The decision was driven by two factors: - As a coin that supports scientific research, it is our responsibility to stay at the forefront of crypto technologies and to develop the best features from our core development team. The crypto space is changing and growing at a remarkable speed and we will continue to be leading pioneers. - We believe that all students of academia and science should be able to easily set up an EMC2 miner, enjoy and learn about mining, and save the coins to pay for their tuition/expenses, or just keep as a security for the future. We want to spread the hash rate and unite developers and users to make EMC2 more accessible to people around the globe. Any updates must be tested and audited before enabling." Goes down? Right?  Where did you got this information ? Its better to mention the source of information. Because without source of information you are just spreading false news on EMC2 community ! I'm not the original poster of this info, but I can tell you that's what it says when you go to the EMC2 buy/sell page on Poloniex. You can't transfer EMC2 in or out due to "wallet issues", so all EMC2 wallets are locked on Poloniex and I guess other exchanges too, although Bittrex shows no errors right now. Either way, the error on Poloniex makes me unsure of transferring EMC2 to an exchange until I hear more news. Poloniex has disabled depo/with for every coin that was forked. It's standard procedure. Once they clear everything, it will be enabled again. Their agility is infamous, though... Ahhh. OK. Thanks man. Looks like purely a Polo issue then. May trade via Bittrex instead. Looks fine over there, but being a Noob the Polo issue put some doubt in my mind. It was our recommendation also. Exchanges do evaluation too, and make final decision on how to secure fork/upgrade process. Will be enabled in next 48h. |

 We went through the FORK successfully. Max supply is reduced from 300M to 245M, with current 216M in circulation now. EMC2 blockchain is now much more secure, stable and ready for serious investments. Thanks everyone for taking the part in it. A beautiful letter from a member of ours: Congratulations, this coin has been blessed by cruel and unpredictable crypto God and it has its 5 minutes now. There are just two possible trajectories from here: either coin gets dumped into oblivion after initial hype or it permanently joins top 10 list of crypto currencies. You need to capitalise as soon as possible on this gain and use it to elevate the coin to the next level. 1) First of all, convert some coins from dev fund to fiat. At the current prices and volume, acquiring $1Million+ should not be a problem. Using this funds: 2) Hire people. A lot of them: project and community managers, coordinators, developers. Start working hard on all the promises and engage closely with community. 3) Using your new staff and resources, donate to multiple science projects and charities. They don’t have to be massive, but have to make a difference: computer classrooms for children’s, Internet access in poorer, rural areas and so on. Funds you have now should allow you to execute many fantastic projects. Try to donate EMC2 instead of fiat where possible. Send someone from the team on sites, to help, report and document the progress. 4) Try partnering with big names like RaspberryPi or some well known educational institution. Now, when the coin has got tangible value to it, you will be hard to ignore. 5) Most important thing: get the information about what you are doing out there. You have to be visible. You have to be loud. Hire some company that will maintain your presence in the media. Not some dodgy shills, but proper professionals. Get adverts in the newspapers, TV, subway and the Internet. Elevate this coin from ‘one out of thousands shitcoins’ to the asset that makes an impact in the real world. Whatever you do, you need to act NOW, while everyone’s eyes are still on EMC2. Dear Einsteins,We are happy to announce that Poloniex supported the EMC2 FORK, and they are now running new nodes (wallet version 0.13.48.0 - Excalibur). Bittrex and others are already supporting it. For those not in the loop but interested, here's a copy of our Pool Newsletter: Dear fellow Miners, As for a few says now, several EMC2 wallets are out there in the wild with different versions and all claiming to be compatible with the upcoming "hard fork". We (PM-Tech) have reviewed the changes and what we found left us more or less speechless. I would like to summarise and share the most astonishing findings with you: - The codebase used is an "intermediate dirty" version (0.13.3) which was used to get all the soft forks in and finally validated as well. This required a lot of additional database access and there for throttling performance. Immediately after all forks have been active, it was supposed to be replaced by a faster, more stable version. It was ready from our side but never got officially released.
- The changes "new" wallet code are simple - one single number. Looking at this number, while being part of the overall consensus, change of the number DOES NOT promote the network consensus. In other words, we are not looking at a "hard fork" as per definition. Old nodes are fully accepting and validating blocks mined by "new" nodes, in the other direction only blocks claiming their wormhole reward are being rejected by the update. As per protocol this means, a fork occurs as soon as the first wormhole block is mined after the block height inside this (downgrade-) update. Now the overall consensus rules are in place saying the chain containing more overall chain work is going to survive.
- Let's assume they manage it to get this side chain rolling. Both chains are still using the same mempool. In practical words, transactions can be mined on either chain, the mining node clears the mempool and the coins appear to be lost. Recovery is possible but annoying.
- Both chains are running the same transaction protocol. For the split that means, every coin created before the fork can be incorporated into a replay transaction. A detailed explanation how this works would be a little bit too much for here.
There are still thousands of "old" nodes out there, plenty of them even on the first released wallet code. So are certain attackers which are certainly not giving up on their tricks so our conclusion is to NOT downgrade to any of those (jump) fork codes but remain on latest while running a little bit of background hash power in order to keep the classic chain alive. So what's important for the near future? - There are 2 wormholes scheduled, one at the end of November, one beginning of December
- We have seen code versions out there where some contain the fork block at he Nov wormhole, majority on Dec wormhole (around 8th - 10th)
- As for the last wormhole already, we are not going to take measures against the usual attempt of a 51% attack, simply because the measures are costly (around 4 BTC id you want to be safe) and risky
- We are expecting exchanges to close down EMC2 wallets already before the Nov wormhole, but since they are close together they might not re-open before all the "fork" dust has settled
- As a miner, decide carefully if and which chain you decide to mine. Usually mining pools aren't prepared for a mess like the one to expect, so payout algorithms can fail as they are just looking a certain number of blocks back (usually 120)
Please note that our pools will remain up on the classic chain all the way through but we can not take any responsibility for value lost due to these events and their bugs and failures. So far Happy Mining, Michael

EMC2 has been ready for Hard Fork for more than two weeks now. But since we were trying to fork Wormhole out everyone had to update at the same epoche, in between two Wormholes. We tried to do it sooner in two attempts, to loop with everyone involved, but in practice some businesses move faster than others, and such approach might appear as not what community wants. We have shown flexibility, it is time to show strong will.  So we decided to set Hard Fork date in stone, but to give enough time to the world to prepare. Update on EMC2 Hard Fork Shortly, Coding is done - EMC2 HF code (ver 0.13.4.0) is ready and checked in our official GitHub repo: https://github.com/emc2foundation/einsteinium/commits/0.13.4.0_master_EMC2_HardFork Testing is done - new wallet ver 0.13.4.0 passed all our test, both autmatad and manual. Wallets (Windows and Mac) are built and ready to be published. Communication with major players is active: Bittrex - confirmed immediate update and they are waiting on our final signal. H2C mining pool- confirmed update, waiting oun our green light. Supernova mining pool - is informed, they did not respond back, but since they are long time EMC2 supporter we do not expect any issues. Cryptopia - is responsive, no issues with them. 3rd party - serivces are informed and will follow. Poloniex - We are in daily touch with Poloniex via Skype, and this is a big improvement since the summer. We submitted wallet upgrade ticket and it is escalated to their wallet engineers. We are waiting on the response, and will post update as soon as we get. They have to follow internal procedures. During this wormhole hash rate fluctuation may occur. In order to keep everything secured Einsteinium Foundation advised exchanges to either temporarily disable deposits and withdrawals or raise the confirmations threshold to 1200.
