I am not selling via escrow, I just don't do that -- amagi doesn't do it, no shop does it, and I am basically a shop, well kind of. Selling a small handful of coins doesn't make you a shop, especially with a 0 trust rating. It makes you a random guy on the internet like the rest of us. Let me ask you this, instead of giving that 5% discount, would you be willing to put that towards paying someone to do escrow? Basically I pay spot price to the escrow, they take 5%, you get 95%. It's the same as if you were selling directly to me except a lot safer for me. I get what you are saying, from your standpoint you don't know who I am. That's your position. From my position, I have never seen you before either. But that's because I have been around here for years, and I've run silver shops on here before, selling thousands of ounces of silver. ASUS R9 290 reference cooler design -- is the only cooler design which sucks hot air out the back of the case.
This means the cards are designed to be stacked next to each other 2 or 3 at a time in a normal case, as they are often pictured in AMD advertisements.
This is GREAT if you have a poor airflow case. If you have an open air case or a case with high airflow like a Raven 4 or a HAF XB or something, you might want to look at an aftermarket cooler style like the Sapphire TRI-X or the MSI GAMING OC Twin Frozr IV 290.
Otherwise, if you don't mind the noise this is the best way to run a gaming rig that doubles as a mining rig when you're not around.
Comes with GPUTweak for overclockers (designed to be OC'd) but maybe you can only get 10-15% OC out of such a card.

Update: I'm lowering the price to spot (altho the silver coins are +$1 coin premium). So, in short, all of these coins are now far cheaper than ordering from a place like amagi because you don't have to pay shipping (and the per-coin price is cheaper too).

Think about it.
It's becoming more and more apparent as time goes by that the "bungled launch" came off exactly as planned and the MAX devs did indeed have working GPU miners prior to launch. No pools to compete with, no working windows clients, etc...
This way they could reap all the benefits of a premine and claim fair launch at the same time. The "leaked source" was just cover and it didn't matter anyway as no one would have enough Nvidia cards on hand to do anything serious for at least a few days which gave them all the time they needed.
All they had to do was have a CUDA farm ready to go. The 24 hours it took to get an AMD version out was plenty of time to rake in millions in BTC as everyone was going into MAX hysteria and running the price up to 0.32 in the first few hours.

I'd have to say no. Maxcoin has had one of the most impressively fair initial distributions of any altcoin to date. The fact that there was so much initial hype about the coin ensured that the 'easiest' blocks were distributed probably more fairly than even the early bitcoin blocks were. Also, lots of people have GPU's so it's reasonable to assume that some clever person is going to figure out fairly quick how to use it to churn out SHA-3 hashing power. It's the really capital intensive ASIC infrastructures that can prove too much of a risk to the decentralised nature of the protocol. The fact some people are complaining that a keccak GPU miner was available almost right from the start is also just a release of butthurt by the people who thoiught they could take a bigger slice of the pie without having the computing resources to deserve such a share of the block reward. Nobody ever said that this coin was supposed to be a GPU free zone. Contrary to the popularly held view at the moment by people who are butthurt about their inability to understand basic programming or networking skills and were unable to compile the minerd from source or use a command line wallet. So overall, i think Maxcoin was in fact a reasonably successful launch. Compared to the bitcoin launch or other premined alts I don't know what people are complaining about. You have to think for yourself sometimes and ignore the internet TROLLS who just want to sink the price lower so they can buy in! |
