101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: With is the minimum post require to earn a merit on: June 11, 2024, 10:36:40 AM
Also on going through your post history, you based mostly on you local board and on off topics board and judging sincerely, your post quality is really poor. I'll advice you take your time to read about the forum and forget about what ever the person who invited you to this forum told you about. And focus on learning for now. You earn merit when you create quality post mate, that's all.
Read here : FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit
Pardon me for this response but I have to seek clarification from you. First of all, you are addressing a newbie, maybe someone still very new to this entire concept. If I may ask, do you expect him to post like a pro? If you say his post quality is low, I want you to elaborate on how you expected him to post so we can rate him as a good poster.

One thing we have failed to realise in this forum is that newbies will always post like one and using your standard of post quality to judge them might be the reason many of them are resorting to seeking help from AI in order to impress people. As much as possible, we should try and remember  how difficult it was for us when we started. Blockchain technology is an entirely new concept to many people, so we should manage our expectations from people properly so that there could be continuity because many of them are running away siting that here is too harsh. Reading the rules and all the links you shared are not enough... most people learn through practice.
102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How were you able to handle a losing streak up to 5 times and above? on: June 11, 2024, 10:18:49 AM
Loosing streak can be very terrible for a gambler and worse when risk management is not in place. I have experienced it many times and I try never to be in such situation again. I have been a able to find a way of retaining my sanity whenever I find myself enmeshed in loosing streak. I apply the pattern of reducing my gambling amount by half whenever I lose 3 rounds in a row and when I get to the 5th loss in a raw, I take a break. It can be few weeks break or few days break but I will stay away from gambling for a while to put my psychology in check. Others might have their ways of handling this, so I hope to learn too.
103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino companies' responsibilities to rehabilitation institutions on: June 10, 2024, 01:44:18 PM
I have actually thought about the possibilities of casinos sponsoring programs and policies in the rehabilitation of gambling addicts, unfortunately, I have not seen anywhere such is done. The feasibility of such project is not also there because they will be exonerated by their caveat of "gamble eesponsibly" which is visible in all casinos. On the other hand, if they embark on such project, and attach some monetary benefits, even people who are not gambling addicts will want to benefit from it whereas the real addicts might even be ashamed to come forward because most addicts do not usually know that they have problem.

Inasmuch as this sounds good, I don't see how realistic it can be because a lot of variables will be at play such as no casino will be willing to accept responsibility of what happens to any gambler.
104  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My deep regret and pain in crypto. on: June 10, 2024, 07:54:04 AM
When I knew about cryptocurrency I went for research and I discovered Bitcoin and other coins in the market, I went to study the history of Bitcoin and it's growth and I saw how well it was, so I said to my self if Bitcoin can grow this big then I needed to fine a rising coin that has not grown too big and invest my money on it, thinking it will grow as Bitcoin did, this happened 6 years ago.
Many people have similar experience including myself. I have long made peace with myself and I will advice you to do the same because you cannot change the past, just take the lesson and make the future better. On that note, what are you doing now that you know that Bitcoin is the way forward? Bitcoin is still very fine for investment now, there is a fixed supply and there is halving event that will always create the needed shortage of supply to push demand up. It might look too high for some people but it is not really high, you can buy a fraction per time and continue building from there. So like I said, it is not something to regret but an opportunity to gain experience. So cheer up and continue building.

105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Team strength as the main predictor. on: June 09, 2024, 10:45:37 AM
I know that many experienced sports bettors place the greatest importance on the strength of teams (in team sports) or the strength of individual players (in individual sports). They believe that this is what plays a decisive role, and not other factors. For example, the advantage of home games only appears in competition between approximately equal teams. And when teams or players are not equal in strength, then comparing the strength of the teams becomes of primary importance. You may also cite other factors, such as:
1. Coach.
2. Judging.
3. Player injuries.
4. Season of the year.
Some other sport-specific factors. For example, for tennis, the surface on which the game is played matters - artificial or natural.
The strength of teams or players is usually expressed in rankings.
What do you think: is the strength of teams or players the main factor in the forecast or not? Is ranking the only way to determine the strength of teams? And if these are the main factors, then how can you predict in advance the outcome of a game in which outsiders beat experienced teams?
Just like you rightly stated, many factors are used in rating the strength of a team or player. Those you mentioned are correct and are part of what I look at in making my selection. I will only add few others for the sake of this discussion.

  • For a football team, you have to add the home and away factor, match schedules(if they have external competition such as UCL), the weather condition(teams going away to where the weather is different from theirs will be affected by the change of environment), their recent form which comprise of their winning or losing mentality and ease of scoring or conceding. There are some teams that will be in their top scoring form, just like Arsenal was towards the end of last season.
  • For individual events such as tennis,  weather condition can also play a part as well as recent form. If the player have been playing in high spirit, that will definitely show in the results. Also if they have busy schedule without enough rest, it will show in their performance
So weather condition, match schedule and recent form are part of the things I need to add to the list you already gave.
106  Economy / Reputation / Re: [BC.Game] Maxbet strange nonsense on: June 09, 2024, 08:13:01 AM
I wrote about it in their topic, but was ignored, maybe someone will explain what is going on here? also I wrote to them a year ago in a Live chat, but no one was interested to even explain.

The nonsense is that the "honest Bc.game casino" does not have a maximum bet limit, but has a maximum win limit, which makes it absurd.

Eg:
The maximum bet (266.72 BTC, information at the time of the post)
Maximum fixed winnings (13.34 BTC information at the time of the post)

With a 2x chance and a bet of 266.72 BTC, you will lose the entire balance, and if you win, you will receive a maximum win of 13.34 BTC, which is not 2x, but only a fixed win.

Question:
Can such a huge casino afford to have such a function, which in fact is, if not to call it a trick, then directly a scam for inattentive players.
It is only someone gambling under the influence of alcohol or perhaps drugs that will place a bet of 266.72 BTC to win 13.34 BTC. Maybe BC.game intentionally program their system that way to fight against gambling under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  Good a thing you know the maximum you can possibly win, if you decide to donate funds to the casino which is good for their business continuity, then your bet amount can exceed the maximum win.

Decision:
Set the maximum bet equivalent to the maximum win if you want to be called an honest casino.

Share your opinion, maybe I'm misunderstanding something, I'll be glad to figure it out.
My simple advice is that if 13.34 BTC is too small for you to win in a single set, place several bets each of whose win equal the maximum win and you will be fine.

Nevertheless, BC.game might just be fighting gambling addiction or money laundering through these very case of which it might seem not right when viewed superficially, but I do not have a problem with that because at the point of submitting your bet, max win will be shown and if you go ahead to submit the bet, then thank you for the wonderful donation and if not a donation, your eye will clear later  Cheesy

Meanwhile, in my humble opinion, this issue does not qualify to be a reputation issue.
107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Helping Me Set Up A Fancy Restaurant in The Ghetto on: June 08, 2024, 03:45:31 PM
BTC also help me to take my BSC course from university I am familier with btc since 2014 my father is very poor and not hold enough money to spend for my health and education btc help me to expense my personal expense and support my family also.
You can help us with more detail information so we can benefit from such information considering that you are from a poor family, so how were you able to invest in Bitcoin or you earned it through other means for which I will love to know. 2014 was pretty early in Bitcoin for those who could invest in it, the reason I made this response is your situation which makes it rarely possible for you to have spared funds you can hold in Bitcoin amidst family challenges.
108  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What Would you have done differently if you restart your journey with Bitcoin? on: June 08, 2024, 11:48:52 AM
1. How did you get to know about Bitcoin and in what year was that?
I learnt about Bitcoin during those days there were restriction to FX in our country, so I had to ask questions on how to send money across borders. Bitcoin came through for me as I could send money with ease. Buying it was a little challenging though because it was mainly through agents, most of which were scammers. It was when Luno, NairaEX and Binance became popular that it was easier.

2. Did you make any silly mistake? if yes, what was it and what will you tell a newbie?
Each time I look at my wallet in those earlier days, I feel like crying because of the volume of Bitcoin that have passed through me yet I didn't hold. I was just buying and using to pay for subscription and other services abroad. Some of them were even invested in projects that turn out to be scam. My biggest regrets is not holding any of those Bitcoin. By now I would have been comfortable financially.

3. If you are to go back in time, what do you wish you had done differently?
if everything play back again, I will rather hold most of those Bitcoin that use them the way I did.

4. Your favourite or best time with Bitcoin?
My best time in Bitcoin is now because I am now holding Bitcoin as I have decided that I will never run out of Bitcoin again.

5. How do you see Bitcoin in the next 50 years?
Bitcoin is the future of finance so the price and influence will be huge as time progresses and as we experience more Bitcoin halving, the scarcity will increase leading to higher prices.
109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Religious leader barred from casinos because of big wins. on: June 08, 2024, 07:48:27 AM
I'm not a religious leader but I have received betting game from dream which I played and won, although I played small amount because I was skeptical about it. So, I will not doubt the possibility of spiritual people receiving gambling tips from from vision or whatever spiritual means. The only area I was wondering is the consistency and reliability of such pattern because I still remember receiving other games in the dream that failed. However,  those that will work, there are usually signs that they will work and it requires mastery to understand and use the signs well.

Banning the spiritual man from gambling is a sheer waste of time because he can just use the wife or any of the relative or church member to place the game for him. He can equally sign up in international companies and become the latest millionaire in that country.
110  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Closed] ZeusMEX — instant cryptocurrency exchange. on: June 07, 2024, 10:39:29 AM
Even though I cannot substantiate this line of thought, I really feel it has something to do with the authorities. The closure was sudden considering that they rarely even started. Every business takes sometimes to become profitable and a business of this magnitude should have envisaged some challenges at the beginning if there were no external factors at play here. So my best guess is that they ran into problems with the authorities which might have made the investors incur some losses in a business that is just getting started.

There is no conspiracy theory here. It’s just that our investor had financial difficulties, this is not related to the project, but due to family circumstances of our investor. Therefore, we spoke honestly about this and suspended work a few days ago.
So should you find any new investor, will the project continue? If yes, are you making effort to secure new funding or this might be the end of this great idea? I did not mean to propound conspiracy theories to explain the situation but I will take your further emphasis on your first post to be the reality. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Meanwhile I hope and pray the family of your investor are able to overcome their problems and get back better.
111  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Closed] ZeusMEX — instant cryptocurrency exchange. on: June 07, 2024, 08:48:51 AM
I could just be more than that.

Perhaps a legal or Law enforcement issue because the manner in which they decided to whip up everything in a short time, including all the social medial handles. Maybe there was something brewing up in the background that we did not know about.

Anyway, it's unfortunate that they closed shop.

112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Hello on: June 07, 2024, 08:29:04 AM

Hi everyone,
I am curious to know if there any possibility for any other crypto coin to replicate the feat of Bitcoin or even surpass it in the near future.
Actually there is nothing that is impossible but for the case of another cryptocurrency rivalring Bitcoin, that is close to being impossible. Bitcoin have come a long way, survived so many challenges and it is looking like it has not even started considering the present realities where many institutions and governments are keying into it. Having another cryptocurrency to pass through those lengthy and rigorous processes is something difficult to imagine.

I understand that most of you are usually brainwashed by new projects that promise to solve their sometimes imaginary problems with Bitcoin. They come with all manners of conjectures with the sole purpose of wooing innocent investors through promise of earning stupendous ROI. But in the end, they will deliver nothing and work away with fat envelopes.  If you have been entangled in such fantasy, please wake up and start building your Bitcoin portfolio because we are just getting started.
113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the role of home/away matches? on: June 07, 2024, 03:08:23 AM
If you are involved in sports betting on team games such as football, then before you place a bet, you probably conduct a comprehensive analysis and evaluate the various factors that may contribute to the victory or defeat of your chosen team. One of the main factors in this analysis is home or away matches. Depending on where the team plays - at home or away, the probability of winning or losing can change by a certain amount. What do you think is the role of home/away matches? If this probability were expressed in numbers, what would it look like? Is playing at home or away a major factor for analysis or a secondary one?
I once came across the opinion of one analyst who considered this to be the main factor in predicting the outcome of a match. He considered everything else to be secondary. What do you think?
The home/away is generally called home advantage and it is a very significant factor in soccer. It is like when someone comes to fight you in your house, there is this level of confidence and moral justification you will have to beat up the person in order to save your reputation. Teams playing at home enjoys this confidence, huge support from their fans and in most leagues, the officiation tends to be in favour of the home team. There are several leagues in which the home team mostly win the match, and this could also be linked to how advanced or serious the league is.

However, there are some teams that do not really care about the home advantage. For example, teams like Manchester City,  Real Madrid, Bayern Munic, PSG and others do not really care if their opponents are at home, the win anywhere.
114  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of fake work-from-home jobs, it is a ploy to steal your crypto on: June 06, 2024, 02:35:27 PM
The scammer will message you and offer you an online job. The scammer will be receiving the money from the job and he will not later pay you anything. Or it can be a fake job but the scammer will later ask you to pay an amount of money to get more and better offer. The victim account that the scammer created for the victim on the platform would be getting credited but it is not money but just a number to deceive the victim. If the person pay the money that the scammer told him to pay, that is just how he or she has been scammed.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/fbi-crypto-scams-work-from-home-remote-working

Tell your people about this. They should avoid online scam like this one.
The first instant in which the scammer will offer someone a job and be taking the money is possible but is not sustainable because anyone working and did not receive payment after a week or month will surely know its a scam and have the choice of stopping, this was you only waste your time and energy for the time you worked for free.

However, the second instant of requesting money from someone in the expectations of more profits or reward is easy to spot as a scam at first sight. This is because the widespread awareness of not sending money to anyone for anything not verified; people are very conscious of that so not many people will fall for such scam.

I have been approached, on several occasions, by scammers using different formats, some with job offers, business proposals, and even investment opportunities.  It is not usually difficult to see the sign of scam based on experience anyway. The moment I notice a sense of urgency, unrealistic promise, or incoherent idea, I know it's a scam.
115  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN will be $350,000 by August 25, 2024 - Robert Kiyosaki on: June 06, 2024, 10:50:43 AM
Robert Kiyosaki is known for catching fun with Bitcoin price prediction, maybe he derives joy doing that and his way of  farming engagement. I wouldn't advice anyone to take him seriously or use his projection as investment advice because I have lost count of how many times he has been wrong about the price of Bitcoin. One good thing is that Bitcoin have a way of humbling everyone because it is highly unpredictable.
116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 06, 2024, 08:43:45 AM
Outside of the relegation zone, Bournemouth was the team that had actually conceded the second most number of goals this season.
So it is actually good to see that they are taking that problem seriously and trying to fix that.
Alex Paulsen is a very young goalkeeper and he will be able to give his club a lot of good service if he is actually able to perform well.
I actually enjoyed playing Bournemouth on goals last because not only were they conceding goals, they were also scoring. Anytime I saw them at home, I was confident to bet them to score over2.5 goals and also both teams score depending on who they are playing. Nevertheless, if they must do well in the new season, they have to do something drastic about their defense as well as the goalkeeper and I think they have taken a bold step signing Alex Paulsen. He is a promising young man that can easily adapt to the team so with time he will gather the necessary experience to withstand the demands of the English Premiership.  He reminds me so much about when Onana was still very consistent.

117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can someone take gambling as a source of income to he/she life? on: June 05, 2024, 03:30:25 PM
Gambling is a source of income for a greater percentage of gamblers but it is not ideal as an active source but passive source of income. As someone who believe that the primary motivation for a gambler is to make money, I still see gambling as a great source of passive income. Those who have won decent amount of money from gambling can confirm how helpful such wins can be and the quality of joy they bring. Unless as an agent, I will not advice anyone to make gambling a career because the winning is not regular and predictable.
118  Other / Meta / Re: Let's make bitcointalk great again. on: June 05, 2024, 02:49:34 PM
what do you think needs to happen for our forum to become popular again?
Personally I do not think that the popularity of this forum has diminished so much, what I see is just a reduction in the number of companies coming to do marketing in the forum following the ban of mixers. Even though I still believe that mixers were in line with the vision of Satoshi, it is unfortunate that the powers that be consider it a threat to their control of global finance. It is expected that the ban of mixers will definitely affect the forum but I have the confidence that in coming years, the forum would have evolved and completely return to the high traffic platform it used to be.

In summary, I don't think there's nothing anybody can do to change the natural process the forum is passing through. In due time, more companies will see the importance of the forum and will surely consider the forum for their marketing, this will in turn bring more participants here.

This forum is still very popular, and ranking very high in any Google search.

Just search for technical questions and topics, bitcointalk is always among the first results

What OP wants is just more money from signature campaigns.. which are a privilege,  not a metric of the success of the forum.
Thank you for sharing the same views and adding more substance to my position. It actually feel so strange when posts about the declined popularity of the forum pops up every now as if the forum is ending any time soon. The more we make the forum all about signature campaign, even though this is also important, the more we kill the fun of being here. The reduction in traffic is understandable and completely natural because most of the products banned in this forum were among the major contributor to the forum traffic. Everything cannot automatically return to normal but will require some time for the traffic to come back when more projects find here worthy of their marketing. We can also see that within this same period, many new companies, mostly in the casino businesses, have also joined the forum and more will still come.

As far as cryptocurrency is concerned, the forum is outstanding, the bounty section is bubbling and new members are join the forum at an alarming rate even though there also a few people retiring from the forum too.

120  Economy / Reputation / Re: 13 years on bitcointalk… on: June 04, 2024, 07:21:05 PM
13 years ago I signed up for a forum to ask some questions about mining Bitcoin with my home computer. I didn’t realize the journey I was heading off on at the time, but I have to say that things have gone just about as well as they could have. Mainstream acknowledgement, ETFs, giant market caps… These were pipe dreams. So glad I stumbled on this little hobby of ours and decided to try and help change the world.

Don’t forget those that helped lay the groundwork and need our help now. https://freeross.org/
Congratulations OgNasty. You are a popular figure in this forum and your contribution and impact is visible. 13 years is huge and I want you to be proud of what you have contributed to this forum, the recent being the 100 pushups per day challenge that is helping many in their health already.  As a donator,  you helped in making this forum what it is today. We are proud of you and once again, congratulations.
