101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [ZEC] Zcash Speculation on: October 19, 2016, 09:38:34 AM

Zcash is launching on Oct 28th 2016

It's already traded as futures on bitmex. Currently the market has predicted that the price will be 0.2 BTC on December 30th 2016.

Since I couldn't find a speculation topic I'm creating one. Will keep moderation to a minimum (remove off-topic, spam etc)

When will GUI ready (finally)? And I am not accepting "Soon" as an answear...

Soon-ish...?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
The GUI release is imminent, which means it's closer than "soon":

"the difference between soon and imminent is that soon is occurring within a short time, or quickly while imminent is about to happen, occur, or take place very soon"

I tested it today on Win10 64-bit and it works fine. Some are still having issues running it. It's a beta release, functional, but not finished.

Many people much smarter than ME have said, many times, that overall this is probably a binary-outcome type situation, i.e. either crypto in general is going to totally fail for some reason -OR- it's going to fully take over the world's finance infrastructure.
I don't think so. Today, crypto is already a major success. It fills a niche market. There's no reason why it would go to $0 just because it can't take over the world's finance infrastructure. I'm sure those of us who were around in the e-gold days can attest to that. The only reason e-gold "went to $0" was because it was centralized. Bitcoin fixed that. Now we have a working economy and it's enormous. It's way bigger than most could even dream of 5-6 years ago. So if this is it? That's alright... we'll continue with our businesses. We'll keep hoarding and trading. We'll keep our money in a place outside of government reach and send uncensored transactions. The needs of this niche is already fulfilled. We are doing fantastic.

But of course, nobody here believes this is over. We'll grow much larger, just like e-gold would have if it was left alone. Just don't think taking over the world's finance infrastructure needs to happen. I'll continue using crypto even if growth stops today.

Most here had the opportunity to sell at 0.02 but no one did. At 180 no one did at 135 no one did. You had your chance to make money and you failed hard. And you will fail again if a new ATH will come  Roll Eyes

Am I alone when i say that i think that the bottom is reached? 150 looks pretty stable atm there are no more panic sellers who are selling their coins with loss -seems to me. I think now its a good time to reinvest.

Genius.

LOL.  Grin

The delusion is strong in this one. Time to re-post this I think:

106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 08, 2016, 11:34:01 AM
Damn. That's quite the resume. Predictions moving forward? Are we building a floor here around 0.01?
I think we're going to see a spike up soon with the release of the GUI. I bought a few in anticipation of that. But once the initial excitement wears off I think we'll continue to slide down and below 0.01 again. This still looks like a bear market to me, and if bitcoin continues to rally this will result in selling pressure on altcoins at least for the short term, if past behavior is any indication.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 07, 2016, 06:53:08 PM
@TheKoziTwo etc.

If I would follow you and some others here, I would see my money burning and still waiting for the 10.000 USD hit.
Not really no. In fact I was discussing the coming bear market on IRC when you were still dreaming about $70 and the only prediction I have posted on the forum after this rally was posted here, predicting a drop from 0.014 to 0.01.

At least you could invest your time not in FUD some Users who gives valueable advices but more in making marketing for Monero if you like it so much to paint.
It was just an analysis of your price predictions, don't see how this could be classified as FUD. Marketing is for shitcoins that has nothing to offer. A good coin sells itself.

That would help the community and the coin much more. Consider it. Im glad I follow him and Bitcoinmagazin and also adolf. They and very few other users were realistic and always said be careful the coin can drop more.
I ran the first exchange for XMR, I've coded a fully functional portal for both accepting and sending XMR payments. I protected merchants from hackers and saved one from losing 2380 XMR. I've donated ~3000 XMR to development of XMR. I'm market making with tens of thousands of dollars on bitsquare to help grow the decentralization and privacy. And now I'm warning about consistently bad traders. What the hell have you done? FUDing about dark markets getting shut down? Thanks for confirming your sock puppet.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 07, 2016, 01:33:46 PM
Just for fun I looked at the post history of N-rG and plotted his predictions on the actual chart.

I'm not sure how he made money based on these predictions, but good job. That's a pretty amazing feat.  Smiley
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 01, 2016, 07:55:42 PM
I underestimated the scope of this project and set too ambitious of a schedule for it. Zerocoin will be probably be ready within 2-3 months, but I don't want to give any more release dates (either for testnet or mainnet) until I am very, very close. I will not make this mistake again.

I will continue to give status updates, and I have made tremendous progress in recent weeks. As I promised, I will still work full time on this until November 1, and I expect to have a few hours a day after that to work on it.

First Monero millionaire? I doubt it. While I don't know anyone that has admitted holding more, I know people who has similar amounts and there are people I suspect may hold even 300k+. I really doubt I was the biggest holder.

...

I've already revealed this on #monero-markets so it's nothing new, but I have sold ~94% of my XMR during this rally.

Lol at what amount of XMR do you have to say approximately 94% of your stash, rather than approximately 95%? When does that approximately 1% make a significant difference? 10k? 100k? More?
I've sold more than 200k so it makes a good difference.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 29, 2016, 07:23:44 PM

It's important to not lose perspective. We're still up a lot, and could easily fall to 0.01. I've made some predictions on #monero-markets. My first guess was we'd hit 0.013-0.014 (we hit 0.0144), but after trying (and failing) to break 0.02 again I've turned more bearish and my target is now to 0.008-0.01.

At 0.008 we're 70% down from the top, and that seems consistent with the way price has acted in other markets, e.g litecoin down 85% in first rally and 95% in second. ETH went down 60% first crash after it peaked. Bitcoin went down 93% in it's first rally.

In my opinion XMR will recover quicker, things are moving faster these days and there's a lot of good stuff coming. GUI coming out could cause a spike up, though I still think we're headed down to those lower levels once the excitement from it wears off.

I've already revealed this on #monero-markets so it's nothing new, but I have sold ~94% of my XMR during this rally.

I'm a bit afraid that the dev team made their cash and are not so much in business to develope the GUI.

I mean i could do this with java in 2 days. I dont unterstand whats their problem here...they have had now 2 years.

Bitsquare is a decentralized bitcoin exchange. Your funds are located on your own computer and there are no KYC/AML type of ID requirements. It's now even possible to run it on raspberry pi (albeit a bit slow).

I think Monero is a perfect fit so I've been doing market making for some weeks now. Volume and bids has been in a nice steady uptrend for August and September and Monero has actually become the currency with the most liquidity on bitsquare.

But it's still relatively low volume, so we need more traders. Please consider checking it out. Come to #bitsquare on IRC if you have questions.

116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: September 02, 2016, 08:50:09 AM

What price do you guys believe AEON can reach in the next few months?

With Monero being more used at Darknet would you guys expect to people be more interested at AEON as it has similar features?

Looking the price now of AEON it seems to be cheap with the future potential. Just my opinion.
I think it mostly depends on two things: XMR price and poloniex.

The higher XMR goes, the more interest there will be in other cryptonote coins. With a large increase in XMR value I would expect an even larger increase in AEON. The volume on bittrex reached ~150 BTC at peak which is very little, in comparison BBR had about 10x as much volume on poloniex. So getting AEON on poloniex would be very bullish since AEON is generally considered a better buy than BBR.

XMR increase to ~0.03 and AEON on polo and I think we could easily see 0.001.

Just recently someone said in the trollbox that already 12 vendors at Alphabay are about to take Monero payments... Because it is a trollbox, I'd like to know if somebody has any information is it true or just B.S.
Also, it would be nice to follow how wide is the Monero adaption among D.N.M. in general so if someone is more specialized to those would you care to give some additional & factual info.

I heard something similar on reddit. I'd imagine anyone using tor and BTC is already somewhat tech savvy. The barriers to entry for monero, i.e lack of official GUI wallet, lack of direct USD-XMR trading, shouldn't be too big of a hurdle for D.N.M. users.
I signed up and made a search for who accepts monero. Got 70 pages of results and browsed through the first 8 pages.. counted 30+ vendors just there so probably a lot more. Not sure if there's a better way to check these stats.

Dark Markets accepting MONERO = MOOOOOOON.

Which darkmarkets are accepting Monero? Can't find any news or links about this although everyone is saying it.

XMR is the biggest scamcoin of the century... Mining from the start with no fair way to get in unless your a nerd with some mining gear but no girlfirends becuase you are all loser nerds.

Buy some lir and btc and support real innovation.
On the contrary, it's not easy to find a more fair coin these days. Mining from the start was easy and CPU-based so no need for special mining gear. Perhaps mostly "nerds" doing it, but it could be argued that this is still true for most of crypto, which consist of ~95% males. Lack of mainstream adoption does not make it less fair. People choose what to spend their time on.

That brings us to your other point: that not having a girlfriend makes you a loser. To say that you must define what being a winner is. Clearly you think a winner is one with a girlfriend, I presume someone who goes the traditional way with a 9-5 job, married, house and kids?

I think this is a very simplistic outlook of the world. Why? Because not everyone has the same definition of winners and losers. I'm aware that the general view in society is such, but history has also shown us that the herd is often wrong. A girlfriend is an investment of your time and resources, and some chooses to not prioritize this. That does not make them losers, and arguing for such is bad because we need the outlines who invest their time into other areas. Shaming them to waste their life's away on something they do not have passion for is evil and hinders innovation. If they excellence in their chosen field I would argue that this is a more objective definition of a winner. Applying your own idea of winners and losers globally and without regard to peoples goals in life makes it a subjective definition, and very narrow-minded.

Lastly, Monero is real innovation, there is currently no better crypto currency with anonymity. Your claims are completely unfounded.
