Wow, didn't think this would go down the scammer territory path. For those who wish to view the source code, but want to get right to the meat of where the action is: https://github.com/RobKohr/print.printcoins.com/blob/master/index.phpThis is where I wrote all of the code, everything else is just library stuff. Nothing writes to a file. Nothing writes to a db. It takes in input, and spits back a pdf. Yep, it is http, rather than https. If anyone wants to buy me a cert for this one off project, I'll take it Otherwise you will have to consider a possible man in the middle attack. The reason this is server side rather than js is that I have not found one decent pdf creation library written in javascript (just a couple half hearted attempts that were useless). pdf's are the simplest way to create something that will print to exact dimensions on the web. If you have no faith in me, then download it and run it yourself, that is what the code is for. The website is just up there so you can be lazy if you trust me. I would be more worried if someone created an executable to do this on your home machine, as that would be able to get to your actual wallet. Or just don't use it at all. As far as the actual usefulness of bitcoin bills, well that is a good question. It could be handy for off the grid transactions where both parties trust each other. I find that most people use them as gifts or as a way to sell bitcoins to others as an investment, but where the other person just doesn't want to bother with setting up the tech to handle bitcoins. For real commerce in physical form off the grid with untrusted parties, significant steps would need to be taken to prevent counterfeiting as well as private key extraction. Right now, I think only Casascius has a product that I would accept as money from a stranger on the street. It would be difficult and expensive to forge that product. When bitcoin is common enough to easily find merchants in meatspace to do transactions with, I think there will be plenty of physical forms out there. Cash is a much more natural for exchange than two people tapping on their cell phones and then waiting for the transaction to be verified. It is also much more satisfying to be paid in cash, and more untraceable (for both bitcoins and fiat).

most of those pages are for donations, which do nothing towards building an economy for bitcoin. the only thing you can actually buy is baklava. i think thats even better than alpaca socks i dont really see a critical mass there. Where is the baklava?

If you are web tech savy you could set up a web server on your computer and run it locally.

Would someone be so kind as to creating a Windows executable for download?
Well, it is web based, so it will work using your browser.

I think there should be a wanted section in the marketplace. I want something that no one is currently offering, and I don't see anywhere to put that type of post.

I am looking for a very small bitcoin sticker for my cell phone. I plan on sticking it on the corner of my phone so people see it when I am talking on the phone. I'll pay $1 (in mtgox price in bitcoins) for you to get it to me.

I hate to be a party pooper (ok maybe I don't), but they didn't pay an absurd amount of money for them. They paid based on whatever the market rate was at the time. Anyone who didn't buy bitcoins at the time, or sold their bitcoins at the time would be just as foolish. Except of course they did something important, which is actually do something to start the economy rather than just be a speculator.
Good for them, and I am sure they not only got some of the most memorable pizza they will ever have, but I am sure they mined plenty more bitcoins as well.
So get out there and buy something. The future of this is unknown for all, but without people actually using this thing as money, bitcoins have a very weak outlook.

You can now print your own bitcoin bills similar to PrintCoins.com bills: Simply go to http://print.printcoins.comThe bills come out in PDF form so that they can be printed and will match up in size to USA dollars, and have cut marks on them for easy cutting. The source code is also available so you can run the code yourself, and of course if you want to improve the bills in any way, feel free to submit changes to the github repository.

How about just sending fiat in the mail. Everything else isn't really cash.

EDITED:This one supports Satoshi's. The amount should be inserted on the blank line after "Amount:" aligned to the right, but including the denomination, bitcoins or milibitcoints or satoshis or whatever else before or after the number of units. Hi Psy, this looks great! I sell bills at http://printcoins.com, and am also working on a pdf generator for people to print their own bills. Can I use this bill design? Also, could you include placement for numbers for denominated bills? Do you have an illustrator or svg image for this that could be easily edited for different colors? For reference, these are my current bills: I also have a color reference guide for denominations I came up with based off of standard poker chip colors: http://printcoins.com/colorsThis might be useful if we want to keep with some sort of common color schemes between designs. Also, your bill design doesn't conform to 6.14" x 2.61" proportions used on a dollar bill. This might make it a bit of an odd fit for a wallet.

https://www.bitaddress.orgHave them make an offline wallet, make multiple copies and put them copies in safe places. Then send them the coins to the public address. They can check the value using a public site like blockchain.info. As long as the private keys always remain offline and they have multiple copies in safe locations the risk of loss is minimal. How do you recommend they transfer the bitcoins off the address without having to install a client?

By the way, thank you guys for stepping up so quickly. The great experience makes me feel that posting to this forum is so much better than any elance type sites.

This image: http://www.editthis.info/images/choose_your_own_adventure/3/36/Cyoalogo2pngtn5.pngAt the top of it it says "Choose Your Own Adventure" I need it to say "Create Your Own Adventure" Try to make the font look similar (I have no idea what the font was), and maintain the same curved text look. Also, this image is going to be layered on a background that is patterned, and so the transparency is important. To see where it it will appear, go here: http://editthis.info/create_your_own_adventure/It is in the upper left hand corner. 0.75 bitcoins to the first person to complete this task and make it look as intended. 0.80 bitcoins if you can provide a well layered psd as well as the png and maybe a little bonus if you make any useful improvements/cleanup to the image (up to a total of 1 BTC). Feel free to use any temporary upload system you like for this: http://duckduckgo.com/?q=temporary+uploadand just link to the files here in this thread. Of course, also include your bitcoin address so I can quickly pay out (you can PM me it if you like to keep you addresses private) Thanks! Rob

You can generate a qr code using javascript if you don't want to tax your server. That is what I do on coinsmack.com

No need to use github or any other server. Git init creates a local source control system in a hidden directory in the project root. I use them all over my computer for little test projects, notebooks, docs etc. Git is much more lightweight than the server oriented svn and is great for random light weight junk.

My knowledge and experience is constantly evolving, If I save my code how will I ever know my true potential if I'm always locked in the past of old problems? But really, Its all in my head, if i wanted to rewrite the engine I could do it again in about a day(even though the engine took 3 months to build originally) since I've embedded everything to memory it s just better to recall my research and write code in real time so that way I can incorporate my older research with new experience. Ka peesh? ps. now that i think about it im more mad at face book putting in that poclicy when i was finished then the fact that i deleted my source code. Don't take the criticism to harshly, it is just that most programmers learn that source control is vital to projects, even personal ones. Yes it is "all in your head", but that is just perception. It takes a lot to pull it back out of your head. Really, take a look at git or svn. One day you will thank yourself for doing it. Once set up all you need to do is "git init" in a new project directory and git commit -am 'DESCRIPTION OF WHAT CHANGED SINCE LAST COMMIT' It is all local, and no need for a server to set up. Of course you can push to a server, roll back changes, have multiple branches, .... But as long as you do those two commands in the root directory of your project (the second one every time a feature is complete), you will have all of those deeper options available for you whenever you like, and you will be able to see a full history of your project evolution. This is an important step learning to work on larger projects, and most novice programmers reject it, but do so at their own peril. -RobKohr (slight-gray-beard)

So sometimes I post that I am a local trader of bitcoin in my area on craigslist. So far I have had one bite on this.
Also I search on bitcoin for things to purchase, and always when I sell stuff on craigslist I list that I accept bitcoin.
Do others use craigslist with bitcoin?
