You and me both my friend.

Either planet Earth is the only life harboring planet in the universe or it is not.
We may never know. But regardless, either scenario is mind boggling.

I've read a few articles that basically say, we can't be the only planet in the whole universe with life ... there are billions of stars per galaxy, and billions of galaxies, and an exponential number of planets per star (well, some stars have no planets, but some stars have solar systems like ours.)

We just haven't seen them, or they haven't seen us, or somehow we are too far apart to see each other, or they may have lived long time ago.

In a relative universe, it's not so much a question of where but when (intelligent) life is existing. Every signal the radio-telescopes are picking up right now are from the past of the originating location. So IF we (as lifeforms) get discovered by "aliens", there's a 99,9999% chance that they come visiting us after we are gone as a species. Intergalactic dating the hard way.
What we are looking at is the very past of the universe.

Well, physicists tell us that the DIAMETER of the observable Universe is 90 bil light years. I am not sure how they derived this number considering that it is only 13.8 bil years old, as you probably meant. You are absolutely right that it is most likely MUCH bigger (beyond the observable part).

Well, like, yeah... If you want to be pedantic, I'm referencing the ~13 bil year old arrow of time expanding outwards in all directions to create a presumably spherical volume - What lays beyond the known volume of space/time sorta question type deal?

Wouldn't the Doppler Effect be the root cause for this observation? Assuming that Einstein was right...
(EDIT: marcus already opened this box before i read his reply)

You and me both my friend.

Well lets hope some green lizard mofos didn't already find us and are ruling it all behind the scenes. Grin

They say you can recognize them by their terrible haircuts. Hair seems to be a concept them aliens never seem to have understood.
* OutOfMemory browsing for pictures of Trump...

Its not the haircuts, it's the slightly out of sync (with the date) clothes.

I see small groups of people looking slightly bewildered and with a sheepish look on their faces like those on an LSD trip and wearing slightly out of date clothes.

I've always assumed they are time tourists from the future.

Next time I see such a group I should approach them and ask "when are they from?" and what was the price of Bitcoin before they left.

I see, so it is 1 satoshi = 1 KW Hour energy (or a $30 million Bitcoin in today's reckoning)

But perhaps they are just retards like me, who really are on an LSD trip and out for a day around town, taken aback by seeing things in a whole different way.

Rugged again haha. What a shit coin. Are you suckers really going to hold through another crypto winter? The writing is on the wall, sell before it gets worse.

A side effect of global warming is there will be no more Bitcoin winters but there will be permanent crypto winters for most of the shitcoins.

dragonsvslinux spent a lot of precious time giving you some damn good advice, in a very civil manner, in reply to your previous nonsense post, seems you gained nothing from it.

It is never a bad time to buy bitcoin, back at $30k when advised you to get in, or now at $60k, or later at $90k, indeed  whenever you've got spare fiat just buy.

Looks like you are destined to continue being a loser sniping from the sidelines, if you don't get some skin in the game.

'OK Boomer' I hate that term more so since that fucking communist Ocasio-Cortez used it.

When I hear it used, it conjures up an age old story:

A farmer goes out one day and buys a brand new stud rooster for his chicken coop. The new rooster struts over to the old rooster and says, "Okay old fart, time for you to retire."

The old rooster replies, "Come on, surely you cannot handle all of these chickens. Look what it has done to me. Can't you just let me have the two old hens over in the corner?"

The young rooster says, "Beat it! You are washed up and I am taking over."

The old rooster says, "I tell you what, young stud. I will race you around the farmhouse. Whoever wins gets the exclusive domain over the entire chicken coop."

The young rooster laughs, "You know you don't stand a chance old man, so just to be fair I will give you a head start."

The old rooster takes off running. About 15 seconds later the young rooster takes off running after him. They round the front porch of the farmhouse and the young rooster has closed the gap. He is already about 5 inches behind the old rooster and gaining fast. The farmer, meanwhile, is sitting in his usual spot on the front porch when he sees the roosters running by. He grabs up his shotgun and boom, he blows the young rooster to bits. The farmer sadly shakes his head and says, "Dangit, third gay rooster I bought this month."

Moral of the story...

Don't mess with us old folks. Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

Triggered boomer threatening to shoot the gays in order to prove himself still relevant.  Grin This is why an increasing number of people can't even be bothered to engage with the self-righteous, entitled brain farts of a lead-poisoned generation. Hence: OK, boomer.

But don't take it from millennial whippersnappers. Silent generation agrees with us

Thank you for reaching out and sharing.

What is it with Fridays and dips?
It used to be the last Friday of the month, now it's every bleedin Friday.

That upgrade to fikka in a hipster joint has got to you.
No more cheap delicacies for you at the discount store.

What is going on in Sweden with the director of finance supervisory authority and the lapdog in environment protection agency trying to get the EU to ban bitcoin. Because energy use might see Sweden fail to meet its climate nonsense target.

Seems more to be that Swedes are keeping cash in their microwaves rather than in the bank at negative interest rates that is worrying the financial guy Erik Thedéen.

So in future we might be saying Sweden bans Bitcoin again! All panic.

The protectors of the fiat system has published an opinion piece where they urge the government to ban or regulate mining in Sweden and, if possible, also in the EU.
Pointing to the shortage of energy and the environmental factor as a cause for their concern.
Most likely nothing will come of this, there is an election coming up and I believe this to be a kind of "finger in the wind" to see if it's something they (the social democrats and the greens) can use to get votes in the upcoming election.
They didn't mention anything about the gigantic server halls that facebook et al. have in the north though. I suppose they run on unicorn farts and are really really necessary for humanity.

Keep in mind, it's not a proposed bill, it's just an opinion piece by two director generals published in one of the major (left leaning) news papers (Dagens Nyheter).

Thanks Arrie for your input on this, from a Swedish point of view.
The fact your country has an election coming up next year puts this news in perspective.
Meanwhile you can look forward to that bit of luxury coming up so you can have your fikka in classy cafes.
Although like you I'm a sucker for a cheap hotdog and coffee for a snack when I'm out shopping for supplies.

Just one thing in my mind...

Nobody talked/talk here about the release of 140K BTC from Mtgox (should be very soon) ?

I assume it doesn't change the long term view on BTC... But into this bull market cycle (still quite calm and not so explosive as many expected/expect till now) , I am curious to see how the market can react at least on a short time view. Some drop again? 52K? 42K?

On the other hand, we have all the positive fondamental from the BTC side : ETF, GAFA owning BTC (corporate or individuals), legal tenders started in Central-South America... And if we are honest, on 2015 or 2017 we even didn't think about these points. So should be VERY bullish now IMHO.

HODL.

This has been at the back of my mind too.

I had an account at Gox but withdrew my coins before withdrawals were stopped.

I did consider at the very end to deposit $100 for a punt as this would have bought 1 BTC when market price was several times that. Had I done so my recompense today in fiat terms would be a nice windfall.

I think most Gox customers would be people like me, I'd take the settlement in BTC and put in in my cold wallet.

For those taking settlement in fiat I imagine the trustees, not wanting to collapse the market, (like they did when some BTC were sold to pay the insolvency administrators) would seek an OTC solution. I'm sure major players are aware of the situation.

There is about $9 billion to disburse, which will be spread over a fairly long timeline, of course it will affect the market but probably not by that much.

To all those that love to say “boomer”

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048545/

boomer fucking “morons”

biden
 trump

bush
clinton

are and were not boomers.

yeah so far only one boomer prez

obama

btw

he is still the only president younger than me.  which makes sense.

I have nothing against boomers, and abhor that phrase.  Almost a boomer myself.  Cusp.  But on the GenX side.  We are a sarcastic generation.

And cynical.

One day the millennials will also be sarcastic and cynical.

It is called growing up.

So when NEW poll??

Is S2F   98k close November going to happen
Yes or No ….

Haha no chance moon boi. Your party is over.

Yep its all over

Bitcoin is dead (for the 1025689735th time)

Billy no coiner was right, his exceptional predictive TA is spot on every time.

I advised you to buy when price was $30k, you fucking missed it, you would today have had cause to celebrate a $63k party. Hookers blow that sort of stuff, or maybe candy and a soda.

You better go, mom is calling you for lunch, don't spend Friday's pocket money all at once, you could buy a few Satoshis with it. $63k is a great time to buy. Go on do it, or I'll be reminding you again at $90k.
112  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 11, 2021, 07:21:18 PM
Yeah you got that right. I guess its the Circumstances that lift us or down us Smiley

You make your own circumstances.

When you get older you realize that every fuck up in your life is down to your mistakes and bad planning alone.

No one else's fault.

It is shit being old, so get on and enjoy being young, make some plans and work hard to make them happen.

You could start with buying a few satoshis on your way to 3 Bitcoin.

113  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 11, 2021, 07:12:40 PM
Oh no, bitcoin crashed to levels not seen since 2 days ago.

I don't want to start some sh!t again.... But it might go to $52K in the next week or so... maybe in 2-3 tops.  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes  Cool

$53k is quite possible but $89k is more likely.

Are you prepared for both eventualities?

. Dude I will be dead when the fight over frozen coins is started. The fight will be that they are not lost keys. The fight will be that they are abandoned coins.

If you have any idea about worldwide legal bullshit in general and human nature those "frozen" coins will be fought over bigly down the road.

Like I said won't happen anytime soon. But it is going to happen.

The thing people are trying to express is:

1. That argument already exists.  In the context of Satoshi's coins, and lack of inflation and block reward etc.
2. Recirculating lost or abandoned coins is a CHANGE to Bitcoin's basic monetary policy.

In my opinion that change to the policy would BREAK bitcoin.

I think you are possibly making your assumptions because of a life lived in a FIAT world where these sorts of arguments are the very ways the masters of the system have gamed the system to benefit the masters themselves.

As a gen-x member I sort of hate the arrogant millennials/zoomers when they say "OK Boomer"... but... but...

Ok Boomer, two things you forgot... this is not 1950 and Kids these days see more then it meets the eye Tongue

Modern rooster would be like :

Yeah go ahead i give you 15 sec of head start while the old rooster would be running the young one would jump on the Chickens Cheesy

Modern times forced evolution upon kids and that is evidentable Smiley

And you are the mother fucker who hasn't even been able to amass your dream goal of 3 paltry Bitcoin, though you've had plenty of chances to. Then comes here begging for them rather than devising a plan. While the boomer fools sit on their Bitcoin hoard. Ha Ha

Biden's nominee for Comptroller of the Currency
https://mobile.twitter.com/bidennoms/status/1458180110872457216

Quote
Biden nominee Saule Omarova saying the quiet part out loud. On the oil, coal and gas industries:

"We want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change."

... Comptroller of Currency wants major industries to go bankrupt, that should be good for the dollar

.... "Socialism comes in through the ballot box, but only leaves through bloodshed ... " it's nothing new peeps

Looks Chinese, speaks with a Russian accent and she's nominated for what now?

... hey she's highly qualified for any position in this administration, PhD thesis title "Omarova graduated from Moscow State University in 1989 on the Lenin Personal Academic Scholarship.[8][9] Her thesis from MSU is titled Karl Marx's Economic Analysis and the Theory of Revolution
in The Capital
"

... she's got communist pedigree perfection.

,

She will not release that thesis for scrutiny by the Banking Senate Committee, nor is it available at Moscow State University having been shredded. Oh yeah, the Russians protect their agents well. Someone who still has admiration for the Russian Financial System, a dyed in the wool, Red Scarf wearing "Young Pioneer". Now at the center of government influencing policy.

Can you imagine Putin promoting a western academic to such a top position?

Unlike Proudhon with great math and others who post brilliant charts, it's not my strong point.

So I visualize simple traits, in the predicted long slow boring summer, Bitcoin gained $168 a day from the low around 20 July through 29 Sept. Then took a step change to gain $1144 a day from end Sept to 20 August.
Now an expected pull back and consolidation, before the next run in November.

It is not looking like Bitcoin is dead, but who knows math and science could prove me wrong, especially as these guys have all rolled up a big fat juicy short. (not)
118  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 31, 2021, 11:12:52 PM
So much for the S2F model and its prophet, PlanB. I prefer the proven and confirmed math and science model myself, and that points down.

I just prefer the confirmed trait of human greed.
Bitcoin has a lot going for it right now, in fact the outlook is the best it has been in it's entire history.
What humans would not want a slice of the cake.

Fun fact:
A queer person in Hong Kong is someone who doesn't like lots of money/wealth.

Focus you dweeb.. focus.  Do you know how?

Do you know the topic that this thread is attempting to discuss and address? It's not about some kinds of ways to weigh the varying cryptos against bitcoin because that just leads us into a slippery-slope of nonsense talk.. about weighing which shit coin is less shitty than other shitcoins and other distractions.  There are other threads in this forum in which you can address various shitcoin topics.

[...]

Yeah, but who said I won't dump all my normal-traditional limited supply coins for some bullsh!t ERC20 toxin sometimes.... (Those are hardly advertise material, cuz many won't know how to buy them.... anyway... back to "my concept" )..... The idea I keep banging on is that lets say if you were amish, and lived in some restrained village community, and you had your own crypto, you and your folks wouldn't want to trade with the outsiders that wanted to sell u things from China. Kk?? Smiley .... Because they would influence and manipulate your currency with devalued sh!t or content. For the moment Banks / institutions are now CHina in the story and they devalue the amish good products made with hard labor and made to last. Have you ever tasted plum spread made by the amish in a copper pot without added sugar and on a heated wood burning stove?

That's kinda my point that I'm trying you delusional folk to convince. Cheesy Cheesy  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes ...... Don't get carried away in your own delusion and not now... but after 4-5 years, you should move on to another system. Tongue
I'm just planting an idea seed for now, cuz I might not care in 4-5 years to tell any of you sh!t... Tongue

institutions are now CHina in the story and they devalue the amish good products made with hard labor and made to last. Have you ever tasted plum spread made by the amish in a copper pot without added sugar and on a heated wood burning stove?

I dont think that plum spread would last long.

Anyhow
Why do you care so much what other folk do?

Nobody give two fucks or shits (as JJG would say) about your strategies or poor advice to WO

Is there some serious flaw in your character?

Or have you not been taking your lithium 1800mg daily?

Too many bearish posts here today, that should be a massive green candle, soon.

I doubt it.

As I’ve stressed recently, the top is in & it was a very mediocre one in all honesty, only just over 3 x the previous cycles high. I predict $60,000 will fail to hold in the next days & then a new bear market will be confirmed.

I say this as a friend to all, dump your bags & buy back at $10,000 in early 2023. The top is in, nobody wants to buy bitcoin at this price. Retail investors drive bull markets & all they want to buy is dog meme coins. Turn the lights off & leave the office guys. This party is over for a few years.

$60,000 a distant memory by this time next week & the start of a long, cold crypto winter.

Sell everything.

You still here stranded without BTC.
I advised you back in Mid July to get in at $30k before the $32k window closed.
I took my own advice and bought BTC 0.25 at $31.5k and another BTC 0.25 at $29.6k when price dropped.
Since then price has doubled, and you are still sitting on your hands.
Go on do it buy some Bitcoin today.
I'll remind you again at $90k when you visit the forum with a severe case of FOMO.
You know a worse version of what you are suffering from now, sleepless nights, gut wrenching sense of failure, if only I'd......
