1001  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Batch #3 Not selling as fast.... on: March 26, 2013, 06:07:42 PM
Like many others I'm very tempted to order a batch 3, but it would use up almost all of my BTC... I expect BTC to rise a lot more in the months it will take for the machine to arrive... so is that a reason to order or not?  If it goes up a lot and I keep the BTC they will be worth a lot more, but if it goes up a lot and I've spent the BTC on the miner then the miner will be worth a lot more too!

I'm leaning away from the purchase because I've never done any mining before and I'm bit nervous about working out how to get it running...
1002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Currency? Commodity? How about a stock? on: March 25, 2013, 05:25:18 PM
Interesting, I've thought (as most probably have) that one of bitcoin's functions is as a 'tech stock', but never that it is purely a stock.  I think it ends up being a matter of semantics, yours is a valid description and is true, but things are named according to their use.  E.g.  A wooden table is just a flat piece of wood, it could be referred to as 'firewood', which it is, but we call it based on what it's used for.  So ultimately it depends on what bitcoin ends up being used for.  Right now its used as a currency and a stock, and I'll propose that it will be for most of it's existence.  But it's use as a currency is using it as a stock, as you say, and I agree, so both 'currency' and 'stock' are true, but more accuracy can be obtained by using both.  I use it as a tech stock and occasionally as a currency.  That just makes more sense than saying "I bought a book with some bitcion shares"... because you don't buy books with shares.

1004  Economy / Speculation / Re: Place your predictions for this week! on: March 25, 2013, 03:51:20 PM
I reckon we'll bust into the $90s then slow down and fall back into the $70s all within 1 week then stay around there a few days before making another rally up to $100 which we will break next week in spectacular fashion.
1005  Economy / Speculation / Re: $75...today? on: March 24, 2013, 08:35:46 PM
Tomorrow there's a good chance I'd say.

BIN 5 BTC (or $365)

Payment methods accepted:  BTC, LTC, Paypal.
1011  Economy / Auctions / Re: sendbtc.com for sale on: March 21, 2013, 05:43:48 PM
Take that offer of $325, cause that domain is worth about $56 and anyone biding over that is insane. Take the money and RUN!

Thanks for the advice, but I disagree.
1012  Economy / Auctions / Re: sendbtc.com for sale on: March 21, 2013, 05:37:22 PM
Current highest offer of 5 BTC was at $65 ($325 total).

BIN in USD is $1500

Thought I would clarify that as BTC price refuses to stay put!  Grin

1013  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price will you panic sell [Poll] on: March 21, 2013, 03:10:46 PM
I've made a greedy trade which cost me 5btc at $24, which could be classed as a "panic sell".
My stupid logic was as follows:

1.  I'm so sure BTC will rise a lot very soon, therefore I must get more BTC, at all costs!

2.  I have no fiat to buy more BTC.  I only have BTC.

3.  I must quickly sell some BTC, even though I am sure it's about to go up, in the delusional hope that it will go down and then up.

Luckily I only sold a small amount and bought back in quickly.  I was actually physically ill at the time which compromised my judgement but I'm not making the same mistake again!  Just posting this in case it spares some other rookie trader from doing the same thing... (Apart from this, rest of my judgements have been pretty good though!)

1015  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are bitcoins so hard to purchase? on: March 21, 2013, 02:09:11 PM
It's difficult in the UK too, unless you want to pay marked up prices on localbitcoins.com... a proper UK exchange is sorely needed!
1016  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just bought in at $64.05 on: March 20, 2013, 07:30:51 PM
Yes, I would hope that by now you've learned to hold on to them - that sounds like the lesson to me!  But still you've done pretty well by it so no need to have regrets.
1017  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is btc-e down or just me? on: March 20, 2013, 07:28:19 PM
btc-e does seem to go down quite a lot but the last 48 hours have been fine for me.  I've bought LTC there with BTC, it's really easy, but I don't know about ways to by ltc with fiat.
1018  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: $20,000 in the bank, should I invest? on: March 19, 2013, 11:17:33 AM
I'd wait a week or so as I expect there to be another 'fall back' into the $40s from this new all time high.
1019  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: March 19, 2013, 11:16:21 AM
I'm an ideological dreamer who believes cryptocurrncy is the future and will succeed because it MUST!  I bought into BTC at $14 and $24 plus I have some LTC.
