1021  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Identical cards, Identical settings, different hashrate on: April 07, 2013, 11:37:17 AM
Try 24576 6144 for thread concurrency. Or 16384 or slightly below. (Sorry i misread that you had problems with your 7970 not 7850 ^^)

7xxx series cards
Use reaper or cgminer versions 2.11.3 and up (see update below).  Set thread_concurrency to somewhere slightly below 64 * bus_width_of_card_in_bits.  So, for a 7950, that would be 64 * 384 = 24576; ideal values are 21712 or 24000.  Find your bus width here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Islands_(GPU_family)

To find the optimum thread_concurrency for your card, you will need to search above and below this estimate ideal value and see what is fastest.

Also try without shaders, the miner should recognize the optimal number by itself. And I'd set intensity to 18-20 when you're not using the desktop. At least set it to this on the secondary card not used for the desktop.

And i'd try guiminer's standard settings for the gpu, they should give good results.

Maybe some clues for you.  Grin

1024  Other / Off-topic / Breivik left geocoordinates+unknown codes in his manifest - Miners can help? on: August 07, 2011, 04:59:53 PM
http://analysis.no.net/

Breivik hid 46 unvalid URLs in his "manifest", which contain geocoordinates plus some so far unknown code. Example:
http://52.068.4.309plusf24:KWimfhh436383717863МБ
http://59.334.18.097plusf87:RQqljii569218397413КЂ
http://48.200.16.356subf37:ILmeavp123271869374ШИ
full list here: http://app.homelien.no/~oystein/manifurls/urls-unicode-ordered.txt

There were various maps made on base of the coordinates:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http:%2F%2Fgoo.gl%2FF2HAE&hl=en&sll=48.0225,6.322&sspn=35.24582,64.643555&z=5
The blue area around each point is the valid area, since the coordinates are not very exact. Many think these might be terror attack sites for some so far unknown terror cell which stood in contact with ABB. An effort was started to crack the codes behind the coordinates, not much has been acchieved so far, a lot of known algos have been proven not relevant though.
I recommend you read through the mailing list a bit:
http://lists.homelien.no/pipermail/manifest-analysis/

Lots of speculation on why these places could have been chosen there, some examples:

The Munich coordinate is right next to the SPD headquarter for Bavaria
One of the Brusselless coordinates (50.832°N, 4.364°E) points to a district with a large congolese population, it even got his name froma place in Kinshasa, Congo: Matonge
The one in Hamburg is near to a university
The Amsterdam one is near a mosque

and so on...

Now my question is this: Do you think it would be smart if some bitcoin/maths/programmer pro would write a bruteforce tool to decipher the so far unknown meaning of the codes behind the coordinates? Or maybe someone is so smart and recognizes what these numbers+letters+serbian(!) lettes could mean. I for one have never seen anything like this, but i´m no pro at all.

The solved blocks must be confirmed by 100 other users/clients/whatever, only then will you get your coins. Wink
