21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which board and CPU for 4x RX580 8GB? on: March 18, 2021, 11:53:00 PM
"only" 8x or worse. Is this really something I should care?
Does this affect mining/hashrates or can I just ignore that at all?
Nope, the PCI-E bus speed doesn't affect hashrate for most if not all cryptocoins. That's why many people use x1->x16 risers and still get the full hashrate. As long as the CPU isn't super old, it won't make a difference either, an ancient Core2Duo will be fine.  Grin

23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP? _ BTC-37 Mining Motherboard @philipma1957 on: March 18, 2021, 11:27:56 PM
I'd try changing Primary Graphics from IGFX to PCI-E and disabling Gfx Low Power Mode. Not familiar with the other settings unfortunately but hopefully someone else will chime in. If Windows can't see the card, that implies that the card isn't properly recognized by the board at all so power might indeed be the issue. If so, a server PSU + breakout board and cables is around 50$ and might be the cheapest option besides some Molex->PCI-E cables (those 6-pin connectors on the board are PCI-E, right?).

should work fine to embed pics but might be restricted for new users, not sure.

Also you can always do a CMOS Reset to change BIOS options to their defaults if something gets screwed up.  Grin

Two questions:
What avatar? I see no avatar. Tongue
May I advertise my freebitcoin referal link in my personal text (not the signature) after joining this campaign?

I don't have that motherboard but it sounds like your primary graphics adapter is set to internal GPU in the BIOS. Change it to PCI-E if you want to have a monitor connected to your 1070.

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC becomes Sluggish while Mining, how to solve it? on: March 18, 2021, 08:32:56 PM
Your intensity is too high, you need to lower it if you want to use your PC while mining. Which miner are you using? Post your commandline arguments and we'll figure it out.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Shitcoins to Mine? on: March 18, 2021, 08:27:38 PM
The very last time you could mine these so called instamine shitcoins was maybe in 2014...2015. So you are about 6 years too late.

Back then you probably had a few dozen or so coins to mine. Most coins were either Scrypt (Litecoin) or SHA256 (Bitcoin) based. You looked at the ANN section of bitcointalk, you saw something with potential and you would go on Suprnova's pool and instamine as many coins as you could.... Then a few hours or the next day it would appear on Poloniex, Cryptsy or Mintpal and you could dump it for maybe 2-3x more profit than mining LTC directly.

Those days are long long gone. Right now I think the easy money in crypto is in DeFI coins and NFTs.
Good times, I miss them. Kinda sad that "no one" releases proper, innovative and fair mineable coins anymore. Lurking the announcement section is useless now and I'm so sick of all those scam tokens released by suspicious people not able to write in second grade english...
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: molex to pwoer the risers on: March 18, 2021, 08:13:09 PM
How many risers do u run per single molex cable ?...
I got one psu only per rig so won't mix anything...

Thx
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molex_connector
Quote
Max. voltage   12 V
Max. current   11 A/pin (18AWG w/30 °C rise)
That's 132W and the cables get 30°C hotter. Two risers pulling 75W each would push it. If you feel lucky, go ahead, if you wanna be safe, get a different PSU. Some cards pull more than 75W from the slot. Wink

Many horror stories about those...
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: molex to pwoer the risers on: March 18, 2021, 04:05:33 PM
The 75W are used by the card as the power is provided by the PCI-E slot to the card. Early risers were not powered and delivered power straight from the PCI-E slot on the mainboard to the graphics card, which sometimes led to problems. The 4-pin Molex connectors are not rated for 75W so it would be advisable to keep using the PCI-E cables. Actually it can deliver 132W if it's a quality connector and not some cheap china shit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molex_connector
I recommend to buy a used server power supply and a breakout board + additional PCI-E cables. See https://www.parallelminer.com/product/x11-breakout-board-with-pcie-power-cables-for-gpu-asic-mining-compatible-with-delta-oems-750w-1200w-1400w-1500w-2400watt-power-supply-more/ for example, the compatible power supplies can be bought used for very little money compared to standard ATX PSUs.

Good luck getting your BAT out of the browser into your wallet. Apparently they decided to halt all transactions because of "fraudulent users", whatever that means. See https://www.reddit.com/r/brave_browser/comments/m5usz6/release_channel_12177/gr2c0qn/
Also I think their decision to only pay out to verified users was retarded and lame. Especially when you got verified and still can't access most of your BAT.  Roll Eyes

I am surprised that the BAT price is skyrocketing right now. Yes, they have a useable product (browser), but everybody just uses it to earn some BAT. Right now, rewards have also dropped and referral rewards were stopped, so I doubt they will really grow in the future.
I used the browser a couple of weeks, but only earned a couple of BAT, so I stopped using it. Furthermore, full KYC required before you can withdraw these...
Apparently BAT was added to some crypto fund which caused the rally, might go even higher. See https://decrypt.co/61753/grayscale-adds-five-crypto-trusts-including-chainlink-filecoin

Makes it even worse that I can't access my BAT. Holding all users hostage because the company failed to implement protections is super lame!

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MGPC][CPU][POW][Yespower] Magpiecoin - Yet Another CPU Mineable POW Crypto on: March 16, 2021, 06:58:12 PM
Well the first two pools clearly find blocks, so I wonder if they add those secret parameters (which still aren't in the OP) on their own and if they are really needed. If they are, that would be the stupidest move ever to hide them from Bitcointalk users. In any case, very poor communication, not even a link to a standalone miner or crucial specs like the block reward in the OP, which is why I stopped mining this poscoin almost immediately. Roll Eyes

I still wonder why this coin failed to attract users while other coins that copypasted the new and innovative algo managed to take off.
