I love the idea but too busy to take over this task. I will pledge another 150 8bits to the faucet or developer.
If there's a developer who will accept 8BITs I will pay him too. BTC should be spend on 8BIT/BTC market.

Quote
PS: I proposed 0,1 reward for MN but do not see such an option.
You said:
Quote
MN COST: 1000.00
BLOCK VALUE: 1.00
MN REWARD: 0.10
Then you said:
Quote
Quote
MN COST: 1024.00
BLOCK VALUE: 1.00
MN REWARD: 0.80
I like this numbers!
According to rules I assumed you change your proposal to this one. Shall we revert to your first proposal? It's not a problem yet.

STEP 2

level 5 4

RESTORE OR CREATE MISSING INFRASTRUCTURE

Faucets are still very popular among crypto community. Who of us never tried a single one? However, captcha box plus dozens of ads is not something worth attention. Our (quasi official) faucets should bring something new and be related with 8-bit spirit. So I found out that best thing will be faucet paying for gathered points in 8-bit based game.

Tetris? Arkanoid? Pong? Rapid, addicting action.

This is very basic, very early preliminary to THE BIG THING. INSERT COIN, remember? Let's back to faucets.

So, I see this as faucet with free, nice html5 game
http://www.twitchtetris.com/
http://pong-canvas.googlecode.com/files/pong_canvas.html
... and dozens of others
WARNING! VERY ADDICTIVE FOR OLDSHOOL PLAYERS

When player collects required amount of points (s)he gets a form with captcha and her or his 8BIT address, nothing fancy. No ads, just 8BIT everywhere. I pay for server, domain, maintenance, community fills faucet. I offer 150 8BIT as my initial faucet fill.

Who will write code? Yes, I can do that. But like it was already agreed I am here not take over this coin, I am here to support community takeover as much as can (honestly, immodestly, I can do a lot). So I would be happy to see someone saying now OK I WILL DO IT. Or at least, OK I will help with GFX, I will help create a layout. We are not in hurry with it, so just consider it and let me now. If noone volunteer, it will be not the end of the world - I will do it. But wont it be cool to claim - hey I did something cool here? Think about it.

1023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 06, 2015, 05:48:28 PM
It would be great to have it here https://chainz.cryptoid.info/
Then write your suggestion there: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=571254.240
Also we have explorer again so second one would be very nice but it's no longer must-have-now thing.

How many connections are you guys getting in your wallet?
Depends, 6 - 15. I see that that there are sometimes problems with hardcoded IRC server(s) address... they don't like rapid reconnects. I think I will setup some dyndns entries with online nodes.
1024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 06, 2015, 05:03:30 PM
OK, so here is summary of voting proposals:

Code:
"MN_COST": (888.00, 888.00, 888.00, 888.00, 1000.00, 888.00, 1024.00, 888.000, 888.000, 888.00, 888.00, 888.00, 888.00, 512.00),
"BLK_VAL": (  1.00,   1.20,   1.00,   0.80,    1.00,   1.00,    1.00,   1.208,   0.888,   1.00,   1.00,   1.00,   1.00,   1.20),
"MN_RWRD": (  0.80,   0.88,   0.80,   0.60,    0.10,   0.88,    0.80,   0.888,   0.484,   0.80,   0.80,   0.80,   0.80,   0.88),

And here are the results:
Code:
        #        VALUE        COUNT
MN_RWRD
        1.      0.800 7
        2.      0.880 3
        3.      0.100 1
        4.      0.888 1
        5.      0.484 1
BLK_VAL
        1.      1.000 8
        2.      1.200 3
        3.      1.208 1
        4.      0.800 1
        5.      0.888 1
MN_COST
        1.    888.000 11
        2.   1000.000 1
        3.   1024.000 1
        4.    512.000 1

Please check whether everything is fine.

I have played with polls on BCT and... it's impossible to run more than one poll on thread. Cpt Obvious...

I suggest making a poll by posting (in proposals thread) using following form:

Code:
option number for MN REWARD
option number for BLOCK VALUE
option number for MN COST

example

Code:
4
1
2

What means:
Code:
MN_RWRD   4.      0.600
BLK_VAL   1.      1.000
MN_COST   2.   1024.000

Shall we proceed this way? Is it clear enough?

For those who think, no extra voting is required as we have so nice groupped suggestions. That would be true, but I did not expect that people proposals will be so coherent. Also it has been told that voting will have two stages so lets continue with the plan.
1025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 06, 2015, 09:18:59 AM
Thanks 8-bit-party for the graphics, it let us see how is the coin distributed.
It is not bad at all, i haven seen worst distributed coins.

There's online backup of previous explorer. Use yandex.ru to get it. Backup was done moth ago, on Jun, 7, this is what it says:
Code:
1	8Ldv4zhpR1tPa5B4mL2QqXeXPtt5PmUdWf    15339.00000000   9.34
2 8KbsWGJXRnd5HD9oCHzEaFKMzEd4MuLmkn    10146.68000375   6.18
3 8Wu2Nt7xYu828CYe9L22Rhw94QeDUhYJwp    7501.20790629    4.57
4 8UPSHD1ogHeaptSTPUUiNZFYuPQmfWyfkJ    5487.65704629    3.34
5 8QmMx6FQc77ygcmm7HL35xsX6Nubox4dYe    4600.03892221    2.80
6 8NFqD7JJX2PQCqaioj179xG7S7eBCp1oGB    4575.98700000    2.79
7 8Mg9XBm2vuCVvoep5sKdzAdkpVV2YCQznV    4053.95243907    2.47
8 8ZR1FLMzG1LT1rJPXGBgJTKA4MgMF7y8aF    3978.91546772    2.42
9 8WssDyRY6sMGDvEmVktV8P88SrCeikcy8w    3148.78089789    1.92
10 8TJ8JmJ43zsKT3qZm1P1np8PqBvEdKm5xm    2695.27108425    1.64
Sum: 37.47 %
Also, that day TOP100 wallets were keeping 76.28% coin supply.

One month later, today, TOP10 is 26.3% and TOP100 is 59.1%. So distribution greatly improved.

1026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 05, 2015, 07:00:22 PM
ok all but one will display. im on 2.0 wallet maybe thats it. Just wanted to see how many. Not all coins are mine. im running a wallet for a friend. He only knows how to trade. He will set up a wallet soon. He was just new to crypto.

If you want to check balance only use just-set-up service:
http://www.8-bit.party/BALANCE-YOURADDRESS
eg
http://www.8-bit.party/BALANCE-8Ldv4zhpR1tPa5B4mL2QqXeXPtt5PmUdWf

It should display balance without limitations. Let me know if it works as expected.
1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 05, 2015, 06:02:27 PM
So I increased limit of transactions to display... anyway staking addresses generate thousands of not so important transactions to display so they will reach this limit too... sooner or later. But at this moment - enjoy.
1028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 05, 2015, 05:36:22 PM
Send me your address or TXID, I will check it.

EXPLANATION OF DISTRIBUTION CHARTS

http://www.8-bit.party/#distribution

First of all, distribution is analyzed using
- total supply (blockchain scan) - obvious
- richlist (blockchain scan) - TOP100 - splitted to 1-10, 11-50, 51-100 parts each showing sum of balances of described addresses
- unspent 112 8BIT inputs (blockchain scan) - MASTERNODE READY - sum of balances (not just 112 inputs) of addresses which have unspent 112 8BIT input
- Bittrex Distribution (API) - BITTREX TOP50 - sum of balances of TOP 50 accounts
- Bittrex Orderbook (API) - BITTREX ASKs - sum of ASKs (first 50 orders)
- Cryptsy Orderbook (API) - CRYPTSY ASKs - sum of ASKs
- masternode list (RPC call) - disabled since unspents are more reliable here

Amounts shown by BITTREX TOP50 and BITTREX ASKs are shared. At this moment half of coins stored on Bittrex is available on first 50 ASK orders. So BITTREX TOP50 is better factor to find out how many coins are kept on Bittrex.

Fortunately market on C-CEX is gone so we do not have to care about it anymore.

Sharp eye for detail will discover that funds kept on masternode-capable address are 57952 8BITs. And our current masternode count peak is 307 (see http://www.8-bit.party/#masternodes for details). 307 * 112 = 34384. What about those 23568? Yeah, that's true. Seems like many addresses are either not deployed on masternode or inputs are not protected against staking what can break masternode start tx. Finally, seems like many MN operators are not in hurry with collecting earnings from their nodes.

End of theory, here we go with my analysis:

  • BLOCKCHAIN TOP100 vs TOTAL SUPPLY

This is how splitted TOP100 looks compared to total coin supply. Only 26% of coins is held by TOP10 addresses. Comparing to other popular coins - this is very nice result.

  • CRYPTSY ASKs vs BITTREX TOP50 vs MASTERNODE READY vs TOTAL SUPPLY

Here were see where coins are stored. So, at least 27% coins sits on exchanges. Anoter 28% sits on masternodes or wait to be deployed on masternode. Remaining less than 46% is elsewhere. Enough to stake well.

  • CRYPTSY ASKs vs BITTREX ASKs vs MASTERNODE READY vs TOTAL SUPPLY

Same as above but with bittrex orderbook taken instead of bittrex distribution list. At this moment this factor is worse, but it may change in future so I decided to keep both comparisions.

Data are refreshed automatically, at least 6 times a day.

He also puts profit in the BTC he asks.

My slightly poor english has been already pointed here, honestly I completely do not understand your sentence.

Ok, when do we vote?
I guess we should start tommorow (Monday) @ 6PM UTC. Since there were no abuse in proposals thread we I will create simple poll here on BCT. By looking at proposals, result seems pretty predictable at this moment  but let's follow prepared path and vote.

1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 04, 2015, 08:21:49 PM

Higher MN entry cost will encourage to keep staking wallet much better than now. At this moment, with so cheap masternodes staking makes no sense.
With much more expensive MNs  situation will change.
One who has 4 masternodes ATM will either has to double his balance (by buying coins) or just switch to staking - with smaller, stable profits but without extra investment. Win - win

I think when I prove I know what am I doing here we will have to increase MN cost again.
However, at this moment we need more and more masternodes to create reliable network so unfortunately price cannot be too high.

1034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 04, 2015, 06:03:25 PM
Paid masternode services are one of most important goals on my roadmap.

There will be at least three ways how masternode will earn coins.

First, block rewards. With growing number of other payments this gonna be reduced. However, I wanna pay for readiness. Resources are not free.

Second, direct payments. Users will pay masternodes directly for certain service they complete. Masternode can be selected either manually or automatically (CDN model / closest location vs declared resources vs users ratings).

Third, (temporary name) core payments. Anytime so-called event will be triggered, network will pick (no voodoo nor preferred set - just MATH - algo similiar to darksend / block rewards) defined number of masternodes which will serve given event.
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: July 04, 2015, 01:50:23 PM

Just my 2 cents  Undecided Everybody is free to ignore.

You are not ignored. There's a voting proposal thread, if you want to change something share your proposal there. If you want increase PoS reward while leaving current MN reward your proposal would be 1.3 / 0.88. You can also reduce inflation, increase PoS reward and reduce MN reward, eg. 1.0 / 0.5 (50% MN 50% PoS). You are free to choose. You have to publish your proposal to let people consider it during voting. So if you believe in what you say you know what to do.  Then, you can continue convincing people to your suggestion. OTHERWISE you WILL be ignored. I am not rude, those rules let us proceed without spending next five months on talking about masternode costs/rewards and so on. Please publish your proposal.

We have already agreed that most important thing is making masternode price much higher. Big reduction of masternode rewards would reduce inflation but also discourage new investors to buy masternode since they will be much less profitable.

Today I will release 8BIT Masternode Profitability Calculator, so it's obvious we wanna promote MNs as profitable, long-termin investment.

I guess we all here are pretty sure that price will be MUCH higher but at this moment it's extremely low so we have to work with current rates not future ones. Finally, when price will sky rocket also number of MNs will sky rocket so noone will take unearned advantage from "high" masternode reward. It was very high when there were 30 masternodes (0.03 8BIT per node), high when there were 60 masternodes (0.015 8BIT per node), now it's pretty balanced with 270 masternodes online (0.003 8BIT per node). And it will be extremely low 900 masternodes online (0.0009 8BIT per node), but 8BIT/BTC will compensate everything. And 2000 masternodes (0.0004 per node),  and so on. We always have to consider number of nodes and reward per node, not total reward which does not say much as it does not go to one whale.

For those who are saying now, man 2000 masternodes, are you crazy? Look how many MNs DASH has. DASH is mature, well established coin? Yes, but look how expensive MN is and realize they have PoW inflation! DASH is DASH, you are not convinced? Look at HORIZON, their coin supply and number of hallmark nodes. Thousands.

My plans for this coin require as many MNs as possible, but they have to be reliable so they can't be cheap to make sure their operators will care if they are online or not.

Voting soon. Future is bright anyhow!

STEP 4
ADJUST COIN ECONOMY

level 1
brainstorm and collecting options for incoming vote

BACKGROUND: Discussion in last weeks (too many weeks actually) about new economy model brought no (even close to) final decision. Therefore I created following solution:

  • Today at 14:00 (2 PM) UTC I will open call for proposals thread. That thread will collect our proposals of items to be put into a poll. Please register your proposal in following scheme:

Code:
MN COST: N.M
BLOCK VALUE: N.M
MN REWARD: N.M

for e.g. proposal to keep current model will be (missing decimal part will be considered as 0):

Code:
MN COST: 112.0
BLOCK VALUE: 1.2
MN REWARD: 0.88

  • Note that it is not voting yet, but I would love too see everyone participate to make sure we all understand we can't change that values often. Also, if someone else posted proposal equal or very similiar to yours, absolutely post your copy too. This is how statistics work and it's required to get most wanted options.
  • Please keep that thread free of any other discussion. Discussion, arguing, convincing etc. should take place in here in main thread - here and only here. Place your proposal only once. If you change your mind, change your post or just post again - YOUR LAST POST MATTERS, previous one will be ignored.
  • Trolling, FUD - disallowed. Serious proposals only. Suggestion of mn reward equal to 999999 8BIT will be rejected.
  • On Saturday, at 18:00 (6 PM) UTC I will close that thread and start to extract values from set of our proposals. From all proposals, for each item I will pick 3 most popular values (I will probably use median to choose them). That's how we will get voting input. If there's someone who wish to do it instead of me - I will be happy to hear about it.
  • I am open to any sugestions, changes etc. Just give a serious reason and ask other to confirm they agree.
  • Once we read instructions, there we go - official Call for proposals Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1104296

Spread the word about this voting. Use hashtag #8bitvoting. Let them hear about us!

seems it got delisted from c-cex.
Like many other reliable coins. This is good news actually. c-cex is a home of scam coins, you can buy any amount of XPH there anyway anytime. This is most hated exchange nowadays we really don't need extra problems. Cryptsy issue is enough problem now.
