guys can i mine cpu and gpu on the same pc??? have 280x gigabyte and i5 ..

is it profitable to mine with cpu???
thnx

Yes, I mine with my 2* HD7950 and i7-4820K (487 kh/s).

For the CPU check : http://wiki.darkcoin.fr/index.php?title=Installer_Minage_CPU_Windows

I was trying to mine with my cpu as well as gpu but as soon as I started my cpu my miner crashed so I tryed another coin with only cpu but still crashed would this be something to do with my drivers Huh

What CPU and how much RAM do you have ?

In my opinion DRK is one of the most innovative and quality coins. It is one of my absolute favorites and a testament to the cryptocurrency world.

Unfortunately, the price is pretty stagnant, and as a speculator it simply doesn't make sense to buy in.

That said, I just want to congratulate everyone who is a part of DRK, as your work is awesome. I hope to see DRK gain more market share, even if I'm not around to profit from it.

You say stagnant, I say stable  Wink. Now there is not much promotion for the coin, yet the value of one unit is close to $1, imagine post marketing / DarkSend's launch. My rig is dedicated to DRK 24/24.

Are there any bounties for light or Android wallets? I developed one of the Doge lightwallets and would love to contribute to the DRK community

That would be great.  Please contact LimLims, he has all the bounties Smiley

Thanks Evan

Done! That's a good idea, I have it in two stages:

- Make a lite android wallet
- Darksend compatible android wallet

A password-protected wallet would be great.

Anyone know why the new wallett isnt syncing?

I updated yesterday, it synced pretty fast, woke up now and it just wont bother even after a restart.

I just redownloaded the QT, deleted everything except wallet.dat and it gets stuck at the same point @ 16 hours left. Does it have anything to do with the fork?

Someone mentioned adding these nodes a few pages back when other people were having the same problem:

I can't say that they'll work, because it sounds like I did the same thing you did and mine didn't have a problem syncing.

Ty anyway will try it.

OK have now deleted and redownloaded blockchain TWICE with new Windows client, and TWICE stuck on Block 34110.  Will sync fine up to that point and then will not move, even after waiting several hours and after adding the above nodes.

Any method of directly downloading the full blockchain to get past this hump?

Same happens to me, stuck on the same block as you.

Anyone else?  Anyone with a suggestion to fix?

1 - Download again the wallet @ darkcoin.io (seems that it has been updated several times) [Check your version with Help > About > Version : v0.9.0.0-unk-beta]
2 - Erase everything except wallet.dat in the .\roaming\darkcoin folder
3 - Start darkcoin-qt.exe

The kgw exploit is real.

The problem is that the software will accept blocks that are timestamped earlier than previous blocks, (for good reasons) up to the median timestamp of the previous 11.

Kgw counts these as very fast blocks and adjusts the difficulty up by its 20% maximum.  Once.   But you can use that once to roll the timestamp back after five blocks that are long enough to drive the difficulty 20%lower each.

So the exploit is to start mining your own block chain, time stamping several blocks into the future far enough to get the maximum downward adjustment of difficulty each time.  Then jump backwards in time getting the maximum upward difficulty once.  Rinse, repeat,  and your chain gets ridiculous low difficulty and you mine a whole lot of blocks while advancing your timestamp not much further than the main chain.

When the time in the main block chain catches up, you release your own chain and force a reorganization, which allocates to you all the coins mined for the last umpty ump blocks.

I'm in the process of rewriting KGW for our purposes. I've spend a few hours thoroughly going through the code and I think I can come up with a better implementation that doesn't have these kind of problems. DarkGravity?  Grin

Hi all!
Another noob here... name's Ron.
I'm bummed I just this week started investigating crypto$ because I might have been able to get a lot more of these DRKs!  Cry But, oh well.
CPU mining about a tenth of a coin a day!  (i7 870) - Just ordered a R9 270 to replace my old GeForce (I'm poor).

So anyway... I've done graphics for years and when I saw the promotion stuff mentioned I started working on a 3D DarkCoin. I was disappointed to see that the promo team isn't interested in this but here's a few picks of the initial stages I may or may not get back to...

Of course you are welcome to contribute to my well being and time. Smiley

1052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF Jimmy Wales aka Wikipedia ? on: March 12, 2014, 04:24:27 PM
From what I gather from his comments, Jimmy Wales appears to be an ungrateful asshole.

Give Jimmy some time and the respect he deserves - he has already given so much to the online community.

He is new to all this and needs guidance - when many of us here first got into Bitcoin it took a while to wrap our heads around the concepts involved. Give him a chance, it's been said that Bitcoin is the spiritual cousin to Wikipedia so it shouldn't take a smart man like Jimmy long to fully comprehend what all the fuss is about.

The man is smart enough to understand the value of the coin and to inform himself without soliciting/receiving personal donation.

The word "private" will go better with the masses than "untraceable" or "anonymous" imo.

"With DRK, unlike with any other cryptocurrency, your private finances will stay private."

The DarkSend protocol allows encrypted transfers  - what about that ^^

+1

The DarkSend protocol allows {private|encrypted} transfers.

Simple and clear.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm taking notes.

All the materials are work-in-progress, so I appreciate inputs. Smiley

"DarkSend Transfers are very difficult to trace, if not impossible" can imply that with the proper motivation and means the tranfers can be traced, why not : "DarkSend Transfers are impossible to trace" instead, can we say that now ?

That's hard to say - I would never make that kind of statement and it would likely hurt our credibility. The entire field of cryptography is based around the principle that you can make things hard but never make them impossible. It is widely held principle in the related field of computer security as well - and it makes people who know the field nervous if you make a statement like that - and tends to piss them off.

Even if it were impossible theoretically - in general - there would likely eventually be a side-channel attack that would allow someone - under certain conditions - to trace it - again, hurting the coin due to a naive statement of impossibility.

That's true, so something like "The DarkSend protocol allows untraceable transfers*" can be good ?

To be honest, I'm a little ticked that this started out as "Bounty pool for marketing and branding" and now it's just "Darkcoin bounties" including bug reports etc.  I'm fine with that for now, if that's what the funds are most needed for at this point.

But at some point, we need a REAL marketing pool, and it shouldn't be just spent on these incremental increases in value.  It should be spent on something AWESOME.  Marketing is an art, you don't just pay out a couple hundred bucks to make a slightly better website or translate to an additional language.  At least, that's not ultimately the best use of funds when you're ready for mass adoption.  Right now, this thread has ~171,000 page views.  That's great for now.  A liberal estimate means maybe 200,000 people have heard of Darkcoin.  All it takes is one good marketing play... one single thing that stands out, and you get over 10 million people that have now heard about your coin.  Doge has no technical use whatsoever and is far less interesting than DRK, but a brilliant marketing idea like donating $30k to the jamaiican bobsled team generates over 10 million views.  We need to find our own crazy marketing idea.  I'm not sure what exactly that is, but something that fits DRK and will get 10 million views based just on one single marketing effort.  This doesn't have to cost much, but it will take a decent chunk of any marketing pool and be worth way more than the sum of all of these incremental updates.  It could be something like a billboard.  You can rent out a billboard for a month that displays digital ads in a high traffic area along the freeway for under $1000/month.  This probably isn't the best fit for DRK, but someone has to get creative and figure out what that is.

I'd be willing to donate 5 to 10x my previous contribution to a marketing pool with a real marketing idea like this.

+1

I am thinking something to do with Edward Snowden might be interesting. If that story had just broke and we were raising funds for him in DRK it would be perfect. The bit about the DRK fundraising would have piggy backed on all the press about him. It's less topical now though. Maybe getting the Snowden Defense Fund to accept Darkcoin would be some news?

If there is ever an individual whose privacy is violated and it becomes national news, fundraising for them may work.

Evan said (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5184431#msg5184431) he would be speaking at the Cryptocurrency Convention on April 9th but don't see him on the speakers list. If there's anything we can do to support him in that or getting similar speaking opportunities I think it is the best use of funds/time in liu of a brilliant marketing idea.

Why try court so much controversy? It will bring negative headlines. The principle that any news, even bad news, is good for publicity? Maybe, but then you spend years trying to shake off the negative image - like bitcoin and silk road.

Why not go after a more positive approach - North Korean people being able to access online payment services thanks to darkcoin - that would be practically impossible, but that sort of thing.

I'll try and see if I can get Satoshi to move his bunch of BTC though DRK.  That would make the news Grin

If the coin provides anonymity and it is well highlighted, those who need that feature whoever they may be will be attracted.

i agree that it must be open source. If it is good it is up to the community to decide if this coin will succeed and help make it better.

people must understand that they should stop supporting stupid clones with nothing new except name and actually support new ideas.

They will not understand. As soon as the code is available I already imagine that some will create a Ninja coin and Hide coin...  Cheesy

The raised money can be used to hire a good writer and pay for a press release explaining why that cryptocurrency will be the reference in the near future and the benefices of anonymity with DarkSend.
1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin (DarkSend) | No Premine | Runs 30% cooler than scryp on: March 10, 2014, 04:07:34 AM
I've been thinking...

Something just doesn't add up with the Armory using Darkcoin.  There is absolutely no way any legit darknet site would use Darksend while it is still closed source.

What am I missing?

That homeland security run the armoury?

Rofl.. Exactly what I was thinking.

Just imagine the logistics. Read the interview... The Silk Road model just can't work with guns. The Armory has to be a front. It's not even close to possible. I've been in the LEGAL weapons business for my whole life. If there were a way to skirt the law on it, I'd do it! I'm all about giving back what the government unjustly takes. But there's no way you can mail guns around and not be detected. Utterly ridiculous. The only people who would bother to try are complete idiots, and people who work for the state so they know it'll get there and they catch the buyer...

You think you're hiding a gun on an x-ray? Or the obvious pattern of a box of ammo? STEEL and LEAD show up on X-Rays more than anything you can find! There's not a damn thing you can do to block it or disguise it. There is absolutely no way! I would never even consider doing it because I know it can't work!

Guns that are smuggled are done knowingly with people on the inside being paid to look the other way. That's how it's done because it's the only way that has any hope of working. And that costs way more money that I have, and way more money than the prices on that site reflect. It doesn't add up.

If you watch the screenshot it seems that they have stores/partners in different countries so they can distribute their products.
