The Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC Australia) has requested the US Coast Guard’s Polar Star icebreaker to assist the vessels MV Akademik Shokalskiy and Xue Long which are beset by ice in Commonwealth Bay. The US Coast Guard has accepted this request and will make Polar Star available to assist. The Polar Star has been en route to Antarctica since 3 December, 2013 – weeks prior to the MV Akademik Shokalskiy being beset by ice in Commonwealth Bay. The intended mission of the Polar Star is to clear a navigable shipping channel in McMurdo Sound to the National Science Foundation’s Scientific Research Station. Resupply ships use the channel to bring food, fuel and other goods to the station. The Polar Star will go on to undertake its mission once the search and rescue incident is resolved. RCC Australia identified the Polar Star as a vessel capable of assisting the beset vessels following MV Akademik Shokalskiy being beset by ice overnight on 24 December, 2013. RCC Australia has been in discussion with the US Coast Guard this week to ascertain if the Polar Star was able to assist once it reaches Antarctica. The request for the Polar Star to assist the beset vessels was made by RCC Australia to the US Coast Guard on 3 January, 2014. The US Coast Guard officially accepted this request and released the Polar Star to RCC Australia for search and rescue tasking at 8.30am on 4 January, 2014. The Polar Star will leave Sydney today after taking on supplies prior to its voyage to Antarctica. It is anticipated it will take approximately seven (7) days for the Polar Star to reach Commonwealth Bay, dependent on weather and ice conditions. At 122 metres, the Polar Star is one of the largest ships in the US Coast Guard fleet. It has a range of 16,000 nautical miles at 18 knots. The Polar Star has a crew of 140 people. The Polar Star is able to continuously break ice up to 1.8 metres (6ft) while travelling at three (3) knots and can break ice over six (21ft) metres thick. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/01/04/usa-to-the-rescue-us-coast-guard-ice-breaker-asked-to-assist-antarctic-rescue-vessels-trapped-in-ice-due-to-spiritofmawson-fiasco/

Now just watch someone who's drank the cool aid come in with the line that 'yeah, the bear population is increasing, but it's going to decrease...' side note: as an amateur photographer, I've always thought that bear picture was a really great shot. Yes! I wish I could have taken that pix with my old Nikon gear (that I do not have anymore)

Just this week we had dozens of Global Warming-believing scientists, who specialize in researching ice melt in Antarctica, run into a helluva lot more Antarctic ice than their research told them would be there. So much more ice that their ship and three ice-breaking rescue vessels were stuck in ten feet of it for days (two of the vessels are still stuck). As I write this, the big news of the weekend is a cold snap across much of the country with temperatures reaching 20 and 30-year lows. And yet, despite all of what should be good news, the Global Cooling Global Warming Climate Change community is not celebrating. Not only are Climate Change Truthers not celebrating, they are hysterical with worry that unexpected Antarctic ice discoveries and American winters returning to the normalcy those of us of a certain age remember, might hurt their religion crusade. The media is so worried they have coordinated a cover-up of the news from Antarctica and those of us pointing to what one might call the "science" of colder temperatures and increased Arctic ice are being mocked for doing so. Granted, more ice in one area of a vast South Pole is not empirical proof that all is well in the Antarctic, but it is a great way to call attention to the fact that according to NASA, "In late September 2013, the ice surrounding Antarctica reached its annual winter maximum and set a new record." Who is anti-science now? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/01/04/ice-and-cold-global-warming-believers-are-todays-climate-deniers

This man is literally exploding with shit, he's so full of it.
Im not against him because hes black, but what hes doing wrong with our country, hes like bush! we need better than this, I didnt vote because none of the candidates looked promising. We need to escape from this Stockholm Plantation Syndrome mentality. Of course we can be against him no matter his skin color. He opened the door for any ethnic groups to be president of the USA in the future. Now, please, do not destroy the country because his half blackness is making his half whiteness afraid to criticize his Holiness... No need to start a sentence with "I am not a racist, but..." Love the healthcare though
Yeah... wait for a few years until all the illegal aliens destroy the public healthcare system in the US. That's the difference between Obamacare and Romneycare. Every illegal I know already has medi-cal, wic and food stamps Indeed: NYC welfare food is shipped in barrels to the Dominican Republic – then sold on the black market Food-stamp fraud in New York has turned into foreign aid — to black-market profiteers in the Dominican Republic. Last week, The Post revealed how New Yorkers on welfare are buying food with their benefit cards and shipping it in blue barrels to poor relatives in the Caribbean. But not everyone is giving the taxpayer-funded fare to starving children abroad. The Post last week found two people hawking barrels of American products for a profit on the streets of Santiago. “It’s a really easy way to make money, and it doesn’t cost me anything,” a seller named Maria-Teresa said Friday. The 47-year-old Bronx native told The Post she scalps barrels of Frosted Flakes and baby formula bought with welfare money in the United States. Maria-Teresa said she gets new barrels every few weeks from her sister, who buys everything at a Western Beef on Prospect Avenue near East 165th Street in Foxhurst. The scamming sibling pays $75 per barrel to transport the items to the DR through Mott Haven’s Luciano Shipping. Sometimes the family fraudsters take advantage of a special: three barrels for the price of two. Maria-Teresa said she uses some of the products but vends the rest out of her Santiago home, providing markdowns of $1 to $2 compared to what her buyers would pay in local shops. “I don’t know how much of a business it is, but I know a lot of people are doing it,” she said. http://nypost.com/2013/07/28/nyc-welfare-food-is-shipped-in-barrels-to-the-dominican-republic-then-sold-on-the-black-market/

What would it take anyone from the obama administration to be fired? Not even the death of an ambassador or the secretary of state lying in the face of the parents, the coffins near her feet.
So clapper lying to a hearing is like no big deal, as long as they "do it for the good of the people". It is obvious the broad silence of the media regarding the NSA abuse is the real scandal.
Think about it: How many times did we hear about romney and a dog he forgot on the roof of his car 30 years ago during the campaign? Remember the cover of the million muppet march in DC? Google image it.
Now keep those two elements in your mind and compare them to the energy the media are putting behind each Snowden releases. Are we still supposed to believe the media is defending the citizen at large?
"But come on Wilikon! It was a presidential campaign!! Of course the energy and the money will flow much faster!!! Of course the media will cover the million muppet march in DC!!!! Those muppet puppets helped obama win! All of them!!!!!"

Jang Song Thaek, the uncle of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un who was executed last month for "hideous" crimes, reportedly died a hideous death, thrown into a cage with as many as 120 hungry dogs that ate him alive. According to a new report from Wen Wei Po, a pro-Beijing newspaper "with close ties to China's ruling Communist Party," Jang and his five closest aides were stripped naked and put into a cage with hunting dogs that had been deprived of food for five days. Kim Jong Un, his brother Kim Jong Chol and 300 other officials reportedly watched the one-hour ordeal where Jang and his aides were "completely eaten up." The report from Wen Wei Po was republished by NBC News but not confirmed, NBC noted. Jang Song Thaek was executed by the orders of Kim Jong Un last month after being physically removed from his government post, charged with corruption. According to the official Korean Central News Agency, Jang, who was part of the leader’s inner circle and served as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, was a "traitor." http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2014/01/03/22156917-kim-jong-uns-executed-uncle-was-eaten-alive-by-120-hungry-dogs-reportthat's all? six for 120? Yesterday, the New York Times urged the Obama administration to offer Edward Snowden “a plea bargain or some form of clemency.” The paper called the former NSA contractor “a whistle-blower” for his exposure of “the vast scope” of the NSA’s “reach into the lives of hundreds of millions of people in the United States and around the globe.” Perhaps Snowden is what the Times portrays him to be, a hero of sorts, yet the editors of the paper rushed to judgment. In their editorial they did not even raise the possibility that he passed along vital national security secrets to China. It is likely he did so. “I have had no contact with the Chinese government,” Snowden wrote in a Q&A on the Guardian website while taking refuge in Hong Kong in June. “I only work with journalists.” That’s far short of the truth. By the time he wrote those words in the online chat, Snowden, according to one of my sources in Hong Kong, had at least one “high-level contact” with Chinese officials there. Those officials suggested he give an interview to the South China Morning Post, the most prominent English-language newspaper in Hong Kong. This is significant because, as the Post noted, Snowden turned over to the paper documents that contained detailed technical information on the NSA’s methods. Included in these documents were Hong Kong and Chinese IP addresses that the NSA was surveilling. The disclosure of those addresses was not whistle-blowing; that was aiding China. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/01/03/snowden-lied-about-china-contacts.html

CHICAGO (AP) — The new year brought relief to some Illinois patients newly insured under the nation’s health care law. Others still weren’t sure whether they were covered, despite their best efforts to navigate the often-balky new system. The major benefits of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul took effect Wednesday, the first day of 2014. By Thursday, the first business day of the new insurance system, it became clear that snags in the rollout of the Affordable Care Act still remained. On the plus side, the law’s protections mean consumers can no longer be denied coverage if they’re in poor health. New limits on how much insured patients must pay for care will mean fewer bankruptcies after catastrophic illnesses. Insurance plans must offer a minimum level of essential benefits, and care such as flu shots and mammograms will be fully covered without cost to patients. But early problems with the federal HealthCare.gov website led many people to wait until last week to sign up, and insurers are still processing enrollment forms. Paperwork problems almost delayed suburban Chicago resident Sheri Zajcew’s scheduled surgery Thursday, but Dr. John Venetos decided to operate without a routine go-ahead from the insurance company. That was after Venetos’ office manager spent two hours on hold with the insurer Thursday, trying to get an answer about whether the patient needed prior authorization for the surgery. The office manager finally gave up. “I’m not a happy camper,” said Nate Zajcew, the patient’s husband. The couple signed up for a Blue Cross Blue Shield bronze plan through the federal HealthCare.gov site on Dec. 16. “I understand it’s just a matter of paperwork and yesterday was a holiday. I can be an SOB, too, at times, but since they’re going on with the procedure, it’s OK.” Venetos, a Chicago digestive system specialist, described “tremendous uncertainty and anxiety” among patients calling his office recently. Some thought they’d signed up for coverage but hadn’t received insurance cards yet. Others had insurance policies that were canceled and weren’t sure if their coverage had been reinstated after Gov. Pat Quinn decided to allow one-year extensions of canceled plans. Venetos said he has decided to take a risk and provide care for these patients, at least until there’s less confusion about coverage. “We feel it’s the right thing to do,” Venetos said. “We may end up stuck holding the bag and not getting paid on these claims.” http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014/01/03/doctors-office-spends-2-hours-on-hold-with-health-insurer-for-patients-surgery-authorization/

Remember how the Sith Lord was sooo against the NSA Death Star when he was a candidate? How he was against wars and stuff?
Again, when you campaign it is one thing. You tell people what they want to believe. The system needs transparency. Real transparency. I am not a Liberal, but I would believe I would NOT kowtow and forget my principles because "my man" was in power.
I truly do not understand how Liberals are not madder by the day. Vaseline should be part of basic free healthcare for them.

Immigration is one of the hot topics these days. People are divided on the negatives and benefits of immigration. So tell me what do you think on the issue of immigration. More precisely the following points:
1. How much? 2. From where? 3. How qualified? 4. From which ethnic groups? 5. Special preference for persecuted ethnic groups?
1. No limit for LEGAL immigration. If you are in a country illegally do not abuse and game the "free social services". 2. Anywhere 3. Street smarts and quick on your feet people are also well qualified for me, not just people with a degree in philosophy 4. Pammie Lee ethnic group 5. everyone has been persecuted by someone sometime.

American taxpayers spent $7.45 billion to help developing countries cope with climate change in fiscal years 2010 through 2012, according to a federal government report submitted to the United Nations on a subject that Secretary of State John Kerry described as “a truly life-and-death challenge.” That sum of $7.45 billion, which reached more than 120 countries through bilateral and multilateral channels, met President Obama’s “commitment to provide our fair share” of a collective pledge by developed nations to provide a total of nearly $30 billion in “fast start finance” (FSF), the report stated. The pledge was made at a Dec. 2009 U.N. climate conference in Copenhagen, and the FSF funding aims to support developing countries adapt to and cope with phenomena blamed on climate change, such as droughts and rising sea levels. “International assistance for climate change continues to be a major priority for the United States,” the administration said in its “Climate Action Report,” submitted to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on Wednesday. It noted that since the U.S. ratified the convention in 1992, its international climate funding had increased from “virtually zero” to an average of $2.5 billion each year in the 2010-2012 FSF period. “During the period, average annual appropriated climate assistance increased fourfold compared with 2009 funding levels,” the report said. “U.S. climate assistance has increased in the context of an overall increasing foreign assistance budget.” According to UNFCCC data, of the $7.45 billion in U.S. funding, $4.7 billion was congressionally-appropriated assistance while development finance and export credit support accounted for a further $2.7 billion of public money. http://cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/americans-spent-745b-3-years-helping-other-countries-deal-climate#sthash.6GzvUXtr.dpuf

The leader of the Antarctic global warming expedition that has been mired in thick Antarctic ice for more than a week and is finally facing a helicopter rescue attempt, is claiming that expanding sea ice is consistent with man-made global warming theory. Chris Turney, a professor of climate change at Australia’s University of New South Wales ( c.turney@unsw.edu.au) “remained adamant that sea ice is melting, even as the boat remained trapped in frozen seas,” according to a Fox News interview. “Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up,” the Australasian Antarctic Expedition said in a statement. Turney explained that “climate change may have prompted the iceberg to shatter and float into the previously open sea where the mostly Australian team finds itself stranded.” “ The ice was swept across to this area by the South-East wind, its pieces creating a knock-on domino effect,” Turney said. “We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Turney expected to see melting ice. See: ClitanicDisaster: ‘Global warming scientists forced to admit defeat…because of too much ice’ in Antarctica – Will be rescued by helicopter – Chris Turney, a climate scientist and leader of the expedition, was going to document ‘environmental changes’ at the pole - In an interview he said he expected melting ice to play a part in expedition http://www.climatedepot.com/2014/01/01/clitantic-ship-scientists-trapped-in-ice-claim-expanding-sea-ice-caused-by-global-warming-but-data-and-studies-refute-claims/Antarctica sea ice reached a 30 year record in extent and volume in 2013.

Why the need to travel all over the world to conferences with 1000 of printed materials, big limos, private jets, buffet with out of season fruits... to show slides about people using charcoal or wood in African tribes to feed themselves instead of using solar panels? Skype? Google hangout? I. Don't. Get it. Sunglasses and light brown mandela T Shirt are not included. http://youtu.be/IqGA31J-LRQi could make another joke here. But aren't these guys and this mentality, basically somewhat retro? like 1980s ish, sort of? i mean, this is straight out, unabashed, 'big government socialism/communism is what we need to save the planet' stuff. Hopefuly those solar panels are going to be built in Africa, creating jobs etc, not imported from China in containers, on massive dirty ships using oil.
