10461  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: August 19, 2021, 05:28:35 PM
Posts that have been deleted by a user (such as yourself in your self-moderated threads) haven't been counted for a while now.
Those actions don't show in modlog.

Quote
When Lauda went on a deletion spree a while ago, those deleted posts were counted.
How would BPIP even know those posts were deleted?
10462  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: August 19, 2021, 05:26:17 PM
Otherwise, slapping others with negatives from on high can be construed as being unwarranted, or indeed bullying.
I'm talking about excluding them from your trust list, not about leaving negative feedback. I thought we'd been over the differences often enough by now.
Let me put it this way:
Trust list exclusion: decentralized voting.
Negative feedback: public shaming.
10463  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: August 19, 2021, 02:59:12 PM
Is this a new thing? I used to shop from Amazon U.S all the time and I never had to link a credit card before. I just buy gift cards from other individuals on Paxful, redeem the cards, and then ship the goods to my package forwarding company's address.
I've read stories of Amazon blocking accounts when a (large) gift card was redeemed. Obviously they don't want to risk shipping items bought with a gift card that was stolen or obtained in other illegal ways.
Adding a creditcard ensures they can make you pay when needed.
10464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Possible download block chain for air gapped linux from windows? on: August 19, 2021, 02:50:20 PM
I think that it would make more sense to get your Master Public Key from your offline wallet and import only that into a online wallet (maybe Electrum) .
My interpretation of OP's question is that he wants to know his balance without compromising privacy. In that case downloading and copying the full blockchain, followed by a rescan of the wallet will do the trick.

Depending on what exactly you're trying to do, using List of all Bitcoin addresses with a balance could be much faster (but not trustless).
10465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: I started a porn site that pays you in Bitcoin. on: August 19, 2021, 10:20:57 AM
So you'd have to watch porn non-stop for 41 hours to reach an amount you could potentially withdraw (about half an eurocent, not taking tx fees into account).
I was curious about that indeed:
I would like to see some statistics about potential earnings from there.
And it explains why the site keeps quiet about the earnings. Nothing wrong with a 41 hour porn challenge, but at this rate you can just as well forget about the "earnings".

the funds we pay people come from us directly
I'm curious: how often have you sent an on-chain payment? AKA how many users completed the 41 hour challenge?
10466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: I started a porn site that pays you in Bitcoin. on: August 19, 2021, 09:35:55 AM
Now, i know those payouts probably aren't all that high, but i still was disspointed with 20 satoshi's (that is, BCH satoshi's, at an exchange rate of ~540€/BCH)... I mean, that's an equivalent of 0.00011€, and those video's played for at least 40 minutes... So you'd have to watch about 50.000 video's to reach 1€.
I'm surprised there's no dust limit on BCH. This 0.0000002 BCH isn't even enough to pay the fee to send it, it's literally worthless dust and would cost more than it's worth to use.
10467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: I started a porn site that pays you in Bitcoin. on: August 19, 2021, 08:43:49 AM
BTW, I meant crucify by using BCH instead of bitcoin.
If you want to use Bitcoin for microtransactions, you could consider using Lightning Network.

Porn made the VHS and later the internet big, so it could probably do the same for Bitcoin LN.

If the pay is that low, I'd go lower than BCH or ETH, for example Dogecoin.
Doge has higher fees than Bitcoin nowadays. Most wallets send 1 Doge, Ledger wants to pay even more than that.

What does the "hash" in your name stand for? My first assumption was you'd use a browser miner for some altcoin, turning CPU power into revenue. But I can't check your site, as it instantly denies access on Tor.
10468  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: August 19, 2021, 08:24:48 AM
Bug: I've noticed before that BPIP's deleted post count is off, and stumbled upon a clear example now. User ebi_javanmard has 18 deleted posts on modlog (which I think is from the past week), but BPIP shows only 4 posts deleted by moderators.
10469  Other / Meta / Re: Creating فارسی (Persian) Sub-Board under Local Board on: August 19, 2021, 08:12:45 AM
Today we removed about 40 Spam topics from Forum.
Who is "we" in this sentence? You had 18 of your own spam posts removed in the last week alone, so I doubt your ability to remove spam topics.

Quote
I understand that I am a newbie and not familiar enough with rules.
That's an understatement.

You keep posting "I am managing all Persian topics in Other languages/locations board.". What makes you think you're a moderator here?

By the way I think we need 10 active and expert cryptocurrency iranian people that wish to transfer they knowledge to others.

Then this forum will be active.
This forum doesn't care about users' nationalities. They're also free to use the English boards if they can.
10470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: August 19, 2021, 07:40:01 AM
I hadn't suggested there was "scamming" going on.  However, the scope of "buying" trust feedback isn't constrained to just the collectables market e.g. escrow, lending, currency exchange for (low value = pennies) transactions.
All true, but what can we do? It's almost 2 years ago I wrote this:
I still see users, including high ranking accounts, who use the Trust system incorrectly.
All that's left is excluding users who's feedback we deem unworthy.
10471  Economy / Reputation / Re: Whitelisting for Brand New accounts (Enable posting) on: August 19, 2021, 05:31:05 AM
I'm still perplexed as to why a comparable topic was started here
It doesn't hurt to show it on a different board too.

Quote
it would have made more sense if you had started one for your own whitelisted or rejected users.
See second post Wink

Lol. 12/14 are yet to make a post, and they all appear to be Alt, is there no way to remove them from the list?  Cheesy
One of them said he managed to find the answer he needed already.
The others worry me a bit indeed: they could be waiting until nobody notices them anymore. That won't work: I check all profiles each time I update the list. Or they're just not in a rush to start posting, which can happen if they're real users. For most people a forum isn't a priority.
10472  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: August 19, 2021, 05:26:34 AM
So I guess my question concerns krogothmanhattan (DT1) voting up their main account krogoth (DT2) (or the other way around depending on which you see as the main account)
I noticed that before. The Collectibles board has always had their own view on the Trust system, where several DT-members give positive feedback to Newbies who used an escrow or paid first. In a way some escrows are selling positive feedback by giving just for using their service. In my opinion, and I think most users agree, that doesn't deserve positive feedback, because it doesn't mean they'd also pay when given the chance to scam someone (which is what positive feedback is all about).
So yes, I consider it incorrect use of the Trust system. But since it barely happens those users turn into scammers, I don't think it's much of a practical problem, and I certainly don't want to fight the entire Collectibles board over this.
Also: krogothmanhattan doesn't need his alt's vote to reach DT1. If that would be the case, you could ask theymos to blacklist the sockpuppets from DT1-voting.
The Collectibles board is the easiest place to farm trust.

Quote
(yes, that's positive default trust feedback)
I noticed that too. Let's say I wouldn't do it, and if a less trusted user would do it, he might get tagged for Trust abuse.

Quote
a second question, if I may... How is it neither Ramelius, greenplastic nore monkeynuts picked up that two alts are bumping up their DT ranking?
It's the Collectibles board. I think many users there would argue that's the correct use of the Trust system.

User thiago007 got even 2 green DT-feedbacks from the same person (krogothmanhattan and krogoth). Many of the green feedbacks don't even get a Reference tag.

To be clear, I don't think this is correct use of the Trust system:

If you all agree, I'll change the thread title as LoyceV suggested.
Lol. This isn't a democracy, you can do with the thread title as you please. You're not helping your case by making off-topic posts in this thread, promoting the same thing that got the "other guy" banned.
10475  Other / Meta / Re: Creating فارسی (Persian) Sub-Board under Local Board on: August 18, 2021, 05:01:45 PM
@ebi_javanmard: You should probably check the forum rules, because you're breaking many of the rules.

For instance: don't post 3 (short) posts in a row, only post English on the English boards, and don't spam many topics with the same post. If you think a topic or post breaks the rules, use the Report to moderator link.
10476  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: 🔥🌟💸 Buy and sell your BTC with KYC or without 💸🌟🔥 on: August 18, 2021, 04:35:05 PM
I have EU based company registered as crypto exchange with EU iban.

I have EU based non crypto company with EU iban.

I have UK based non crypto company with EU iban and UK account.

I have offshore based non crypto company with EU iban.

I can exchange with full KYC procedure or without trough any of these companies.
Can you share your the names of your 4 companies? I'm quite curious how you can be registered as an exchange, and at the same time ignore KYC regulations by using a different company.

And for any of you who think that this business offer isn't safe or it's to risky. My advice to these guys is to skip my offer.
That's not how a forum works.
10477  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks! on: August 18, 2021, 03:44:03 PM
The problem (that I've ranted about ad nauseam) is that most Newbies just don't make good posts or, as I said, I'm reading threads in sections where newcomers are just posting crap.
Obviously don't Merit those Tongue I often Merit users who don't post again after their first post. They come here to solve a problem, and after they're done, they don't need the forum anymore. Those aren't the best users for the future of the forum, but they are genuine (Bitcoin) users.

Quote
I certainly do want to help lower-ranked members, but I've had the opinion for a long time that most new members are here just to make money, so they're not putting in a lot of effort when they write--and it shows.
Usually I can guess their motives from their posts. And as long as I'm not too high on the Top senders to permabanned users list, I'm not worried.
10478  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: August 18, 2021, 11:19:12 AM
Plagiarism reported 8 days ago, still standing unhandled - isn't everything more than clear in this case?

When I looked at the site of Amazon, indeed BTC is not mentioned in.the job vacancy but they mentioned about cryptocurrency which is include with BTC. In the position, one of the job description is leverage your domain expertise in Blockchain, Distributed Ledger, Central Bank Digital Currencies and Cryptocurrency to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed, drive overall vision and product strategy, and gain leadership buy-in and investment for new capabilities.

But we should highlight that there will be a possibility Amazon will develop their own digital currency such as Libra of Facebook based on their statement. The Payments Acceptance & Experience team is seeking an experienced product leader to develop Amazon’s Digital Currency and Blockchain strategy and product roadmap.

I don't think this deserves a plagiarism ban. It's a bit hidden, and there's no direct link, but the parts I've highlighted in red mention the Amazon jobs site. I'd say send oHnK a PM, so he can improve his use of references. All he has to do is add a link and quotation marks at the right places.
10479  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks! on: August 18, 2021, 11:12:09 AM
Somehow I think my standards for meriting newcomers are higher than for other ranks
Might I suggest changing this? My reasoning for Meriting Newbies is quite simple: the Merit system was introduced to stop spammers. If a Newbie isn't a spammer, he shouldn't be restricted by the Merit system. That means my "standards" for Newbies are lower than for others.
Both Bitcoin and Bitcointalk can't grow without new users!

I wasted a lot of time. About 1 hour a day.
It's not "wasted" if it's put to good use Wink
Meriting 200+ Newbies is just impressive!
10480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Key generation question .. on: August 18, 2021, 11:01:09 AM
Sadly there aren't many tools available that'll safely convert a private key to an address.
I mean small standalone utilities
I've used bitcoin-tool years ago, it does all kinds of conversions. But I wouldn't trust it completely without thoroughly checking the source. For practical use, when used offline, verifying several addresses with for instance Electrum should give a pretty good impression about it's reliability.
