I just saw this at the BFL forums.... Bumping is done and chips should be getting shipped off to the packager Saturday. Maybe you're confusing the packaging of finished miners with the packaging of the chip dies inside FCBGA chip packages, which is what's being done now. This whole testing fiasco is really a wonderment. To lose that many precious (and expensive) chips to only gain a marginal amount of useful information is insane. At any company I have worked for that kind of decision would have landed someone a pink slip.
To be fair, the cost of a processed 65nm wafer is likely somewhere between $1500-$2000. Not exactly a fortune. Avalon pays (it is estimated) about 4k per wafer at 110nm. How is BFL paying half that at 65nm? Somehow your estimates sounds kinda off. 110nm is an old technology. You cant expect GH from that. If it was possible the miners with Cyclone and Spartan FPGA already can be made. They aren't so dont be fool to be involved in this ASIC hoax. Compare the above with the below (gleaned from the OP of this thread). We are looking for system integrators [double sic] to help bring to market another ASIC-based bitcoin miner. That's what I'm in reference to. They imply that they have limited knowledge of other ASIC-based bitcoin mining outfits, yet are going to develop 28nm chips to directly compete with the competition, that they don't know anything and everything about. They clearly have a command of the English language, yet constantly make simple grammatical errors. Did I not get the memo that proofreading is no longer in vogue? True, they're not coming here asking for funds, but I do wonder what's being asked of those behind closed doors. And if that's the case, then I'll have to admit that I like them, for at least they're scamming outside the BT box. |

Much harder than making an Asic /sarcasm There's a lot of planning that goes into getting a camera. You need to figure budget, whether you want 4/3 mirrorless, DSLR, DX or FX if DSLR, Prime or Zoom lens, etc. Making an ASIC hashing device is child's play. Got my 3 year old working on it right now - just trying to reroute power from the easy bake oven to the flux capacitor. I enjoy this post so much, I've opted to quote it again. Don't tell me that fuzznuts doesn't even own a smartphone, let alone asking one of his buds to snap a pic with theirs, then email it to him so that he can edit and post it.
